No twang here- I need a good sous chef
What the hell- I'll try here. Anyone know of a good sous chef or line cook looking for more opportunity who wants to live in culinary Mecca (i.e. the wilds of Northern California). I can't pay a whole lot but my 65 seat bistro is busy, a local favorite and a damn fun place to work. I'm also a more reliable boss than Ryan Adams. I need someone soon, basically so I can get a night off. Nicholas Marginal twang content- I'm loving All About Town by the V-Roys.

In fact, I'd venture to say Boulder was one of the most obnoxious places I'd ever lived near. Denver has a great and I mean great Salvation Army. There's also a good Vietnamese restaurant called New Saigon there. Nicholas
RE: Two Things
What Guild guitars ? Brian May played only the guitar he built out of this big log at his dad's house. Or so I thought. OK- what a convoluted sentence. I mean to say the big log was from his childhood home, he turned said log into a guitar by means of technical wizardry beyond my comprehension and played this guitar and no other with Queen. Not that he played guitar only at his dad's house although some may think that wouldn't have been a bad idea. Nicholas

Brother Ray info requested
Ray Charles will be playing relatively nearby. Has anyone seen him recently and is the show worth going to. Bear in mind that going would mean major hardship for me as it's on a Friday night a few hours away and as a new restaurant owner that's no kind of recipe for success. I do however fucking love Ray Charles. Nicholas

RE: Bootlegs vrs. Used CDs
-Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Lord Rat Sent: Wednesday, March 24, 1999 2:59 PM To: passenger side Subject: Bootlegs vrs. Used CDs Do any of you who are against bootlegs buy used CDs? The artist receives nothing from them either. Are they also a form of theft? Is Garth Brooks right? It depends- if it is an artist I have heard before and know I like, I'll buy the record new. If it's an artist I have heard of and never heard (which is getting rarer thanks to the internet and sound clips being readily available)and see it in a used bin I'll buy it there and if I like it buy the next one or the previous one(s) new. It's definitely a dilemma. I have sent money directly to the band after buying a used cd I like ( a lame gesture at best, but I sleep at night). BTW when people are dead I do buy used (mostly because I don't want the record co. to get the money). I'll chime in that bootlegging for profit is a hideous practice and anyone who thinks artists should feel fortunate to be bootlegged should have a record company for a boss. See what your paycheck looks like for a while and wonder where the missing 80% of your money is, then find out the guy in the next cubicle is doing nothing but peddling your work, and reaping rewards. More sex and drugs! For the most part, we're all a pretty conservative lot, and I doubt our "ethics" would ever allow us to go the route of Marilyn Manson. We need to get used to the fact that Pine State tried this one. Not really Zombie or Manson but certainly psychotic. More like Doo Rag on lots of speed with violent tendencies. I don't know why anyone thinks there needs to be a Nirvana for this type of music (whatever that is) or that something is about to or should "break". As Jeff Wall and others have pointed out there tends to be a cyclical visible period of interest in roots music about every 10 or 15 years. Some periods (Southern Rock and The Eagles) were more commerically successful than say, the period that brought us Scruffy the Cat, The Blasters, Jason the Scorchers et al. There has been (and will continue to be) great music all along, chart buster or no. I predicted about 4 years ago that glam would come back in full force- it looks like it's gathering steam. I don't think we get it over here ... A minty, syrupy cold remedy that's 25% alcohol. Supposed to knock you out. When I was younger, broker and far more desperate I worked for a merketing research company and one of their clients produced the stuff. We used to get free samples and I'd take home six packs of Nyquil and drink it on the rocks. You have no idea how vile this is untul you've tasted it. Nicholas
