Oke, menderita................................Re: [ppiindia] Fw: Komunikasi Tuhan dan Manusia : AKU Tidak Pernah Meninggalkanmu
Kisah Islamnya Abu Dzar Al-Ghifari r.a. Abu Dzar Al-Ghifari r.a. adalah seorang sahabat Nabi saw. Ali r.a. pun mengajaknya kerumahnya dan melayaninya. Ali r.a. merasa belum perlu bertanya mengenai siapa dan apa maksud kedatangannya. Ali r.a. masih belum sempat bertanya kepadanya. Malam ketiga pun sama seperti malam sebelumnya,` Apakah tujuan mu datang kemari?` setelah meminta ali bersumpah dan berjanji akan menjawab jujur setiap pertanyaanya, barulah Abu Dzar menutarakan maksudnya. Ali r.a. berkata,` Sungguh, beliau adalah utusan Allah. Jika esok pagi aku pergi, ikutilah aku. Akhirnya, mereka meninggalkan Abu Dzar r.a. Pada hari kedua. Abu Dzar r.a. mengulangi perbuatan yang sama.

Jawabannya, kata Cardiyan, tentu saja belum. [ppiindia] Embrio 98-an itu Telah Ada
[ppiindia] MERAH HIJAU Harapan Rakyat Kecil Terabai
Darah segar berwarna merah pun mengalir.Inilah merah (red) simbol pengorbanan sekaligus perlawanan. [ppiindia] Taliban discuss money-for-peace offer
http://www.theage.com.au/world/taliban-discuss-moneyforpeace-offer-20100129-n45x.html Taliban discuss money-for-peace offer PAOLA TOTARO, LONDON January 30, 2010 TALIBAN commanders have had secret talks with a special envoy from the United Nations under an international peace plan to pay fighters to lay down their arms. News of the exploratory talks emerged after an international conference held in London on the future of Afghanistan, convened by British Prime Minister Gordon Brown. The Reuters news agency reported that a meeting between the UN special representative in Afghanistan and regional commanders of the Taliban's leadership council took place in Dubai on January 8. The Guardian confirmed the meeting. Reuters said regional commanders of the Taliban's leadership council, the Quetta Shura, sought a meeting with UN special envoy Kai Eide. ''They requested a meeting to talk about talks,'' a UN official told the news agency. ''They want protection, to be able to come out in public. They don't want to vanish into places like Bagram [a detention centre inside a US air base north of Kabul].'' The talks are the first such interaction between the UN and leading Taliban officials, and in London the news was being interpreted as a significant breakthrough, suggesting that some senior Taliban may be prepared to trust an international organisation to broker a deal. The London conference was aimed at thrashing out a blueprint to guide the transition from a NATO military campaign to an Afghan-led program to end the war and rebuild the nation and its educational, economic and political structures. Australia has become one of the first nations to contribute million of dollars to the global plan to pay Taliban fighters who lay down their arms. More than $25 million has been earmarked as part of a $100 million Australian package pledged at the conference overnight. Foreign affairs ministers from 70 nations converged on the British capital for the one-day meeting. A final communique suggested that the time frame for Afghanistan to take responsibility for security in insecure areas of the country was within three years. For this to occur, supporting nations will have to fund 171,600 Afghan soldiers and 134,000 policemen by October next year. Afghan President Hamid Karzai told the conference that foreign troops would have to remain in Afghanistan for many more years. ''With regard to training and equipping the Afghan security forces, five to 10 years will be enough,'' he told the BBC. At the conference, Mr Karzai made a clear peace overture to the Taliban. ''We must reach out to all of our countrymen, especially our disenchanted brothers who are not part of al-Qaeda or other terrorist networks, who accept the Afghan constitution,'' the President said. To do that, Mr Karzai announced the creation of a national peace council to oversee the reintegration of the Taliban rank and file, 75 per cent of whom are thought to fight within a few kilometres of their villages for principally local reasons. Afghan Foreign Affairs Minister Rangeen Dadfar Spanta said that as a first step, a grand peace council, or loya jirga, would be convened ''in the next few weeks''. The peace council would be open to tribal elders from across the country, including those tribes that took no part in the 2001 Bonn peace conference because of their links with the Taliban. They were thus excluded from the post-Taliban Afghan state, a decision that European and US officials now concede was a serious mistake. [ppiindia] Afghan talks offer not for Mullah Omar: US
http://www.dawn.com/wps/wcm/connect/dawn-content-library/dawn/the-newspaper/front-page/12-afghan-talks-offer-not-for-mullah-omar%2C-says-us-010--bi-07 Afghan talks offer not for Mullah Omar: US By Anwar Iqbal Saturday, 30 Jan, 2010 WASHINGTON: US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Friday that while the United States backed the Taliban integration programme, the offer did not include the group's top leadership. Earlier, the Pentagon had expressed similar sentiments about the integration plan approved at a meeting of more than 60 nations in London on Thursday. Secretary Clinton, who also attended the conference, told America's National Public Radio network that she understood the military action alone was not enough to win the war in Afghanistan but the London peace proposal was not meant for senior Taliban leaders. In her interview to NPR, Mrs Clinton acknowledged that most modern conflicts don't end with a victory on the field of battle and therefore political and development work was essential. I think everyone has realised, as we did in Iraq, that you have to begin to go right at the insurgents and peel those off who are willing to renounce violence, renounce Al Qaeda, agree to live by the laws and constitution of Afghanistan and re-enter society, Mrs Clinton said. That is not going to happen with (Taliban chief) Mullah Omar and the like, she added. But there are so many fighters in the Taliban that are there, frankly, because it's a way to make a living in a country where the Taliban pay them more than they can make as a farmer or in some other line of work out in the countryside. Earlier, Pentagon Press Secretary Geoff Morrell told a briefing in Washington that the US government was still working to figure out which mid-level Taliban officials it might be possible to integrate into the current Afghan political structure. He said that top Taliban figures, like the country's former leader Mullah Omar, would probably be what he called a bridge too far. Omar is probably the extreme, said Mr Morrell. The foot-soldiers are probably the other extreme. The question is what happens to the others. Can they be won over? Can they become a part of the political fabric? And that's, I think, what we're all trying to figure out. And I don't know that we have an answer yet. Secretary Clinton's remarks came a day after Afghan President Hamid Karzai told the London conference that he planned to convene a grand Jirga and invite low-level Taliban militants and disenchanted brothers who are not part of Al Qaeda or other terrorist networks. Secretary Clinton claimed that there had already been some progress on reintegration. There already have been Taliban who have left, she said, adding that how the reconciliation process evolved will be a little bit like jazz . we can't lay it out completely. The secretary, however, insisted that the shift in policy towards accommodation of some fighters did not constitute an exit strategy; instead, it was one element of a comprehensive plan. You have to have a very tough-minded attitude about this. This is not sweetness and light, the secretary of state said. You're dealing with a very difficult, complex phenomenon. In response to a recent remark by Mr Karzai that he expected western troops to be in Afghanistan for the next decade, Mrs Clinton said she did not think most western troops will be in a combat role. It won't be like today, where we are putting in thousands more troops, 30,000 from our own and from other countries, she said. In Washington, other US officials told the media that it was up to the Afghan government to decide which Taliban leaders could be integrated. But the Pentagon spokesman said he expected officials in Kabul to make their decisions in consultation with US President Barack Obama. Mr Morrell indicated that senior Taliban leaders like Mullah Omar who, in his words, has the blood of thousands of Americans on his hands, would likely not be acceptable candidates for reintegration. On Tuesday, the United Nations announced it had removed five former Taliban officials, including a former foreign minister, from its list of terrorists, ending restrictions on their travel and bank accounts. That could be a first step toward involving them in a reconciliation process. Tags: US,clinton, mullah omar, taliban, afghan talks, london conference [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
[ppiindia] Kadhafi says Libya no place for 'civil society'
http://www.dawn.com/wps/wcm/connect/dawn-content-library/dawn/news/world/04-libya-civil-society-qs-02 Kadhafi says Libya no place for 'civil society' Friday, 29 Jan, 2010 Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi. - AP Photo TRIPOLI: Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi said on Thursday the concept of civil society has no place in his country, just as a panel headed by his son Seif al-Islam was about to propose a law permitting the creation of non-governmental organisations. In a televised address to the General People's Congress (GPC), Kadhafi said the idea of a civil society is a bourgeois culture and an imitation of the West that has no place here. In the West, a distinction is made between an official governmental society and a civil society (made up of) non governmental institutions, he said, while in Libya society is entirely civil. After he headed a coup that overthrew the monarchy, Kadhafi introduced in 1977 the state of the masses (Al-Jamahiriya), built on people's congresses whose representatives sit in the GPC. This body, in theory, takes all political decisions, passes legislation and names ministers. Does a lawyer need a union to defend himself? Kadhafi asked, after saying that unions were created for the weak. However, he did encourage the creation of charitable organisations to help the neediest in society, such as orphans, abandoned women or even diabetics. Kadhafi was speaking as a committee headed by his son was about the issue a bill that would set out a new penal code, which would no longer criminalise the creation of independent associations of a non-political character. That would be a drastic change from current law, which mandates capital punishment for any person who creates, joins, supports or finances an organisation proscribed by law. [ppiindia] From hero to villain
http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2010\01\30\story_30-1-2010_pg3_4 PURPLE PATCH: From hero to villain -Ernest Mandel In Primitive Rebels and Bandits, Eric Hobsbawm has shown that 'social bandits' are robbers of a special type, whom the state (and the oppressor classes) regard as outlaws but who remain within the bounds of the moral order of the peasant community. It is significant that Spain, the country that gave the bandit story its name as a literary genre - the picaresque novel - was where the decay of feudalism was deepest and where the process of its decline was more protracted, leaving society in an impasse for centuries. Interestingly, Sigmund Freud showed great preference for good bandit stories, and, according to Peter Bruckner, drew a parallel between psychoanalysis and the picaresque novel which was like a mirror of society from below, dragged along the streets. The tradition of social protest and rebellion expressed in the bandit stories emerged from a mythified history and lingered on in folk tales, songs and forms of oral lore. But it was welded into literature by authors of middle class, bourgeois, or even aristocratic origin: Cervantes, Fielding, Le Sage, Defoe, Schiller, Byron, Shelley. Their works were written essentially for an upper class public - quite naturally, since they were the only ones apt to buy books at the time. A society like this can still deal with its malefactors without specialists - or at least its ideologues think it can. There is no need for a police or detective hero in these yarns, only a good lesson in Christian piety at the end. By the 18th century, of course, this was fast becoming anachronistic, and some of the Newgate Calendar stories are already showing the first deviations from the rules. But this evaporation of a sense of security had occurred among the petty bourgeoisie and the literate layers of the working class well before it did among the upper classes and high society. By the beginning of the 19th century, professional criminals, unknown in the 18th century, had become a reality. Balzac related the rise of professional criminals to the rise of capitalism and the consequent emergence of unemployment. Each morning, he wrote in his Code des Gens Honnetes, more than twenty thousand people (in Paris) awake with no idea of how they will eat at noon. It was hardly surprising, he added, that such circumstances led to the emergence of a class of professional criminals. The new popular theatre and popular press were, after all, businesses, and why should they not try to increase their profits and accumulate capital by catering to the public's taste for nerve tingling stories about murders, real or imagined? The rising preoccupation with crime is best exemplified by Thomas De Quincey's On Murder considered as one of the Fine Arts, which appeared in 1827. De Quincey had been editor of the Westmoreland Gazette in 1818 and 1819, and had filled its columns with stories about murders and murder trials. In his 1827 essay he actually insisted upon the delectation with murder and speculation about whodunit among 'amateurs and dilettantes,' thereby opening the way to Edgar Allen Poe, Gaboriau and Conan Doyle. He also initiated the link between popular journalism and writing about murder, which would involve Dickens, Poe, Conan Doyle and so many other crime story writers, up to Dashiell Hammett, E Stanley Gardner and other contemporaries. To be sure, these are no longer 'good bandits' in the old sense. Their criminal acts are treated as the deeds of scoundrels. But they have hearts of gold nonetheless, and redeem themselves through parental devotion to more or less innocent young victims of upper-class cruelty or police persecution. They are figures of transition: no longer the noble bandits of yesteryear, but not yet the heartless villains of the 20th-century detective story. To understand why this evolution continued, why this literary genre did not stop at that transitional phase but instead went all the way in the transformation of the noble bandit into the evil criminal, we must examine both the objective function of popular literature and its ideological metamorphosis during the last half of the 19th century. It answers a need to overcome the growing monotony and standardisation of labour and consumption in bourgeois society through a harmless (since vicarious) reintroduction of adventure and drama into daily life. The romantic, bucolic setting of the old bandit stories becomes increasingly meaningless in this context. Revolt against private property becomes individualised. With motivation no longer social, the rebel becomes a thief and murderer. It is thus perfectly possible for socially critical and even socially revolutionary readers to enjoy detective stories without altering their views. But the mass of readers will not be led to seek to change the social status

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/01/29/AR2010012901621.html?wpisrc=nl_pmheadline Body in backyard is missing Fla. lottery winner's By TAMARA LUSH The Associated Press Friday, January 29, 2010; 7:46 PM PLANT CITY, Fla. -- Winning $30 million in the Florida Lottery should have been the best thing that ever happened to Abraham Shakespeare. But with his newfound wealth came a string of bad choices and hangers-on who constantly hit him up for money. Nine months ago, he vanished. Friends and family hoped he was on a beach somewhere in the Caribbean. On Friday, detectives confirmed that a body buried under a concrete slab in a rural backyard was his. The home Shakespeare was found behind belongs to the boyfriend of a woman who befriended him in 2007, the year after he won the lottery. Authorities believe he was murdered and the woman may know something about it, but they do not yet know how he died and have not arrested anyone. Shakespeare's brother, Robert Brown, said Friday that Shakespeare often wished he had never bought the winning ticket. 'I'd have been better off broke.' He said that to me all the time, Brown said. Hillsborough County Sheriff's detectives used fingerprints to identify Shakespeare's body, which they found buried 5 feet deep and covered by a 30-by-30 concrete slab in the backyard of a two-story ranch house. There are no neighbors, save for an empty trailer next door and an orange grove across the street. When Shakespeare won the lottery, he was an assistant truck driver who lived with his mother in a rural county east of Tampa. He was barely literate, had a criminal record and was extremely generous with his newly acquired wealth. He really didn't understand it at all, said Samuel Jones, who has known Shakespeare since both were 12. It was moving so fast. It changed his life in a bad way. Jones said Friday that Abraham told him in March that he wanted to get out of Lakeland, where he had bought a million-dollar home. After he chose a lump sum payment of nearly $17 million, people gathered outside his mother's home, clamoring for cash. Jones said Abraham would tell him, I thought all these people were my friends, but then I realized all they want is just money. Among those new friends was Dorice Donegan DeeDee Moore. Shakespeare met her in 2007, shortly after he bought his home. She told him she was interested in writing a book about his life. But officials said she was interested in his money. DeeDee Moore is a con artist, and if she tried to sell me anything, I certainly wouldn't buy it, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said in a news release earlier this month. DeeDee Moore has cheated Abraham Shakespeare out of his money, and possibly his life. Moore - whose known phone numbers were all disconnected Friday - became something of a financial adviser to Shakespeare. Property records show her company, American Medical Professionals, bought his home for $655,000 in January 2009. In February, she helped him open a company and gave herself the ability to sign for money, detectives said, including a $1 million withdrawal. Moore told detectives Shakespeare gave her the cash as a gift. She bought a Hummer, a Corvette and a truck, and went on vacation. Three months later, 26-year-old Shar Krasniqi - identified by Judd as Moore's boyfriend - bought the home in Plant City that Shakespeare's body was found behind. A tip led detectives there this week. Howard Stitzel, who happened to be Shakespeare's lawyer in a child support case, started working out Krasniqi's home after Shakespeare disappeared. Stitzel said he could not comment when reached by The Associated Press on Friday. His lawyer, Glenn Lansky, said Stitzel rented space in the home in mid-2009. The landlord was DeeDee Moore, Lansky said. If the police have any questions, we'll answer them. A phone number listed in public records for Krasniqi rang to Stitzel's law firm Friday. Shakespeare was last seen in April. Moore, who spoke several times to the Lakeland Ledger newspaper last year about his disappearance, said he was laying low because people constantly tried to get money out of him. She also told the paper she helped Shakespeare disappear. But Polk detectives say she tried to make it appear that he was alive for several months, at one point using his phone to text his relatives and friends. Detectives say Moore also paid one of Shakespeare's relatives $5,000 to deliver a birthday card with cash to Shakespeare's mother, suggesting it was from her son. So far, only one person has faced charges in the case, but not for Shakespeare's disappearance or death. Troy McKay Young, 42, a Lakeland police officer, was charged with unlawful compensation and misuse of confidential information after detectives said he provided Moore with information he obtained through law enforcement databases. Meanwhile, friends and family

Refleksi : Mesir sekalipun negeri berkebangsaan Arab menghentikan TKWnya ke Arab Saudia, tetapi rezim Kleptokratik Jakarta senang mengirim tenaga kerja wanita ke Arab Saudia. http://www.arabnews.com/?page=1section=0article=132077d=30m=1y=2010pix=kingdom.jpgcategory=Kingdom Saturday 30 January 2010 (14 Safar 1431) Indonesian maid raped in Qatif Arab News JEDDAH: Nine days after her arrival to Qatif, Eastern Province, to work as a housemaid, the 21-year-old Indonesian woman identified as Leni says she was abducted and gang-raped by eight masked men. Police are searching for suspects after the maid was kicked out of a vehicle in front of a hospital. They took me in a car to an unknown place, she told Al-Yaum Arabic daily in a report published on Friday. She said two men grabbed her and three other men were in the vehicle that had windows tinted. Leni says the men took her to a place about 10 minutes from the home where she works. She was forced into a building where she encountered three other men. They took me to a room and beat me up with their hands and threatened me with a knife that they will kill me if I resisted, she said. Those criminals then started raping me, one after another, and they did not listen to my cries and call for mercy. She said criminals also took mobile phone pictures of her naked. Afterward, she was driven to a hospital and dumped. Leni said she approached two Saudi women nearby and told them what had happened. The women contacted police, who escorted Leni into the hospital. The maid's sponsor thanked police for their quick action and hoped that police would soon capture the criminals so they could be punished severely. A number of Saudi women have expressed their solidarity with the maid. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
[ppiindia] Brutality against women continues
http://www.arabnews.com/?page=1section=0article=132086d=30m=1y=2010pix=kingdom.jpgcategory=Kingdom Saturday 30 January 2010 (14 Safar 1431) Brutality against women continues Badea Abu Al-Naja | Arab News MAKKAH: Incidents of Saudi husbands mistreating their wives continue to occur, causing much anguish to the women involved. The mistreatment is usually of a worse kind when the wife is non-Saudi. We were married for 17 years. My marriage was full of all sorts of miseries and pain, said a woman from a neighboring Arab country who was married to a Saudi man 23 years older than her. Narrating her story, the woman who married when she was 16 said problems began four years after her marriage. It was then that my ex-husband began humiliating me, beating me and kicking me out of the apartment. I had no where to go but stand in the corridors of our apartment block in my nightgown, she said, adding that some of her neighbors would let her come into their homes until her husband would let her back in. After pressure from his relatives and friends, the woman's husband finally agreed to process paperwork for her to become a Saudi. After that my suffering took a new turn. He began to cheat on me in our own apartment. I caught him with other ladies. The most painful was when I caught him in compromising position with the housemaid who had been working with us for six years, she said. The woman, who asked her name not be published, said the mental torture she suffered was intolerable and that her husband then deserted her. After some time, he rented an apartment in the same building to trouble me more. He would disconnect electricity and water from my apartment and when he failed to get a reaction from me, he tried forcing me to return to my home country. He exerted all types of pressure on me until I finally gave in and left my children to return to my homeland, she said. She added that after eight months abroad she could no longer bear staying away from her children. I complained to the Saudi Embassy in my country. The ambassador was surprised that a Saudi was complaining against her Saudi husband outside the Kingdom and advised me to go back to the Kingdom and file a lawsuit against him in the courts there, she said. So she returned to the Kingdom and filed a complaint at a court asking for a divorce and access to her children. When my husband came to know about this, he reported the case to the police accusing me of running away. During this time I was staying with a woman friend. He called the friend and told her that she would be held responsible for harboring me. As a result my friend politely asked me to leave, she said. The woman said after all her friends declined to put her up, she had nowhere to go except the Grand Mosque. I stayed there for six months without money or clothes. I kept my passport and ID tightly tied around my waist and do-gooders would give me money to buy food and clothes, she said. It was during her stay in the Grand Mosque that she became acquainted with a woman who took her to a welfare building where she is still staying. She added that last month, a judge ruled that the couple should reconcile. But we failed to do so. My husband told the judge that I wanted a divorce in order to get the delayed dowry. I replied that I did not want his money or the gold he bought for me. I abandoned my right to child custody in exchange for a khula (legal separation) which I finally got, she said. The woman said she has not seen her children for seven months and would do anything to see them. My ex-husband does not want me to live in peace. He becomes happy by torturing me and has even complained to the police that I came to his house when he was not there and took my children's mobile phones and cameras, she added. [ppiindia] Iran hard-liner demands more executions
http://www.arabnews.com/?page=4section=0article=132098d=30m=1y=2010 Saturday 30 January 2010 (14 Safar 1431) Iran hard-liner demands more executions Agencies TEHRAN: A powerful hard-line Iranian cleric on Friday called for the execution of more opposition activists to silence anti-government protests, praising the hanging a day earlier of two men caught up in the leadership's postelection crackdown. Speaking in a Friday prayer sermon, Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati said the wave of street demonstrations sparked by the disputed June presidential election would not have lasted until now if protesters had been executed early on. Whatever we suffered was because of our weakness. How many did the judiciary execute on July 9? he said, referring to one of the particularly large protest days. We showed weakness, so then we had Ashura, he said, referring to a major protest on Dec. 27. Iran's judiciary is stepping up death sentences as the leadership intensifies its campaign to eliminate the challenge from the pro-reform opposition movement. Authorities announced Thursday that nine people accused of involvement in protests have been sentenced to death - including five who allegedly had a role in the Dec. 27 protests. The two men executed Thursday were arrested before the June 12 election on charges of belonging to an armed group aiming to topple the government. But authorities lumped them in with opposition activists arrested during the postelection crackdown. In his sermon, Jannati thanked Iran's judiciary chief, Sadeq Larijani, for Thursday's executions and urged more, saying: Stand up courageously for the sake of God, the same way you executed these two persons very quickly. [ppiindia] Hamas Official Murdered in Dubai Hotel
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/01/30/world/middleeast/30dubai.html?ref=global-home Hamas Official Murdered in Dubai Hotel By ROBERT F. WORTH and ISABEL KERSHNER Published: January 29, 2010 SANA, Yemen - The Palestinian militant group Hamas said Friday that one of its senior officials was murdered in a Dubai hotel room last week. Hamas accused Israel of the killing and vowed to retaliate. The official, Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, 50, lived in Syria and was a founder of Hamas's military wing, which has carried out hundreds of deadly attacks against Israel since the 1980s, Hamas officials said. He had survived several previous assassination attempts, relatives said, including one three months ago that left him in a coma for 24 hours. The Dubai police issued a statement saying that Mr. Mabhouh was killed hours after arriving in the city on Jan. 19 by a professional criminal gang that left Dubai before the body was discovered. The killers had been tracking him since before his arrival in Dubai, and most of them traveled on European passports, the statement said. There were conflicting reports about how Mr. Mabhouh was killed, with some relatives saying Hamas officials told them he was electrocuted and others saying he suffocated or was poisoned. Osama Hamdan, a Hamas spokesman in Lebanon, said, We will not talk about the details until we have put all the pieces of the puzzle together. Israeli officials declined to comment. Assassinations are rare in Dubai, a polyglot business hub on the Persian Gulf where deposed foreign leaders sometimes sought shelter. But that began to change last year after a former Chechen rebel was shot dead in an underground Dubai parking lot. The myth that Dubai is the eye of the storm, and no one will touch it because everyone has an interest, is being blown apart, said Christopher Davidson, the author of two books on the United Arab Emirates, to which Dubai belongs. Mr. Mabhouh is said to have organized the capture of two Israeli soldiers during a Palestinian uprising in the 1980s. He was imprisoned several times by Israel. Hamas has ruled Gaza since 2006, but its political leaders are also based in Damascus, Syria. There have been a number of attempts on the lives of Hamas members. Last month two Hamas officials were killed in a mysterious explosion in southern Beirut, near the headquarters of Hezbollah. In 1997, Khaled Meshaal, the leader of the group's Damascus politburo, survived an Israeli assassination attempt in Amman, Jordan. Mr. Mabhouh was buried in Al Yarmouk, a Palestinian camp, near the Syrian capital, on Friday afternoon. Television images showed large crowds of Palestinians in attendance, as pallbearers carried his coffin, draped in a green Hamas flag. Hamas officials visited the Mabhouh family home in the Jabaliya refugee camp in northern Gaza and vowed to avenge his death. Ismail Haniya, the leader of the Hamas government in Gaza, kissed Mr. Mabhouh's father on the forehead and described his son as a hero. Another Hamas leader, Khalil al-Hayya, told reporters that Mr. Mabhouh was not the first one the Mossad's hand has reached. We reserve our right to respond to this crime in a suitable time and place, Mr. Hayya said. But, he added, We in Hamas emphasize that our battlefield is the land of Palestine and our battle with the enemy is in Palestine, and not on foreign soil. Mohammed Abdel Raouf al-Mabhouh, the brother of Mahmoud, said in an interview that he had last seen his brother in May 1989. Mahmoud al-Mabhouh escaped Gaza without telling his family where he was going. Mohammed said he had not been back in Gaza since, but that his wife and children had visited there in 2007. On Jan. 20, according to Mohammed, Mahmoud's wife called from Syria to say that Mahmoud had been found dead in his hotel room in Dubai, hours after his arrival there. Robert F. [ppiindia] New Fighter Makes Maiden Flight
http://www.themoscowtimes.com/news/article/new-fighter-makes-maiden-flight/398556.html New Fighter Makes Maiden Flight 29 January 2010 Reuters A new jet fighter seen as Russia's response to U.S. advances in military aviation made a successful first test flight on Friday, plane maker Sukhoi said Friday. The fifth-generation fighter - Russia's first all-new warplane since Soviet times - flew for about 45 minutes, Sukhoi spokeswoman Olga Kayukova said on Rossia television. The plane performed very well. All our expectations for this first flight were met, Kayukova said. The premiere was a success. Analysts have said it would probably be five to seven years before Russia's military gets to fly the first of the new fighters. The plane took off from Komsomolsk-on-Amur in the Far East, Kayukova said. Authorities had initially promised the maiden flight last year. The fighter, which Rossia said has been tentatively dubbed the T-50 by its makers, is crucial to demonstrating that Russia can hold its own and even challenge U.S. technology. It is seen as Moscow's answer to the U.S.-built F-22 Raptor stealth fighter, which first flew in 1997. Fifth-generation jets are invisible to radar, have advanced onboard flight and weapons control systems and can cruise at supersonic speeds. The Soviet collapse plunged Russia's military into a cash-strapped time of troubles, and its plane makers have been building military aircraft based on Soviet-era designs. Several failed tests of the submarine-launched Buklava (Mace), an intercontinental ballistic missile touted by the Kremlin as able to pierce any air defense, have embarrassed Moscow. The new plane is also important for Russian arms sales. Sukhoi is Russia's largest exporter of military planes and accounts for about a quarter of the country's annual arms sales, which it said were worth $7.4 billion last year. Its biggest client is India. [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

- AFP [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

[ppiindia] A Difference of Timing Between Two Societies
http://www.aawsat.com/english/news.asp?section=2id=19692 A Difference of Timing Between Two Societies 29/01/2010 By Mshari Al-Zaydi The social scenes in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are highly paradoxical. In Kuwait, where parliament, democracy, political groups, loud voices and theatrical history and arts all exist, a group of MPs and a host of Islamic sheikhs have called on the public to support the Saudi cleric, Sheikh Mohammed al Oraifi. This sheikh was denied entry to Kuwait for fear of stirring up sectarian conflict after he launched a verbal attack on the Shia religious scholar and Marja, Grand Ayatollah Ali al Sistani, according to the government's latest version of the story. I read the statement published by the Kuwaitis in their press. The majority of them are not well known but their statement aims to serve one purpose: to rally support for Sheikh al Oraifi from a sectarian standpoint. This religious backing was further strengthened by verbal political manoeuvres made by Islamist MPs like Walid al Tabtabaei who said that the whole issue is between the Iraqis and the Saudi cleric, so what has it got to do with Kuwait? Meanwhile, other Islamist MPs are sharpening their tongues to grill the government about the ban on Sheikh al Oraifi's entry. Firstly, every country has the right to deny entry to anyone it thinks will cause problems in the country and could harm its security. That is why the Kuwaiti government, in the past, denied entry to Iranian Shia cleric Mohammed al Fali on grounds of inciting conflict between the two sects and delivering heated anti-Sunni speeches in a small-sized country that is already brimming with sectarian fanaticism particularly in recent years. The ban on al Fali entering the country had Kuwaiti Shia circles fuming with rage but now al Fali's supporters are celebrating the equalizer in this sectarian match with their rivals. This is quite worrying, and the government, any government in the world, cannot just sit and watch a bloody match between fanatics take place without taking action as this is likely to tear the country apart. The easiest solution would be to prevent both sides from colliding as a kind of temporary disengagement. But this is not enough by any means and will most probably cause further mobilization in both camps to strike back and score the decisive goal before the referee blows the whistle indicating the end of the match and the end of social harmony as well. Rioting spectators who were not satisfied with the final scores would then fly off the handle and go around burning and breaking things, hitting people and acting mad, as custom has it with football hooligans. Unfortunately, Shia and Sunni masses, in Kuwait and elsewhere, are busy settling historical scores and trying to show which out of the two camps is more rightly-guided. They are trying to demonstrate what happened over 1400 years ago despite the fact that our problem is to do with today and with issues related to building nations, the creation of collective intellectual and social apparatus and restoring the concepts of patriotism and citizenship. These concepts have been ripped to shreds because of sectarian, tribal, regional and ethnic tensions. Talking about a common national bond in countries like Iraq, Yemen, Somalia or Afghanistan today has become an object of ridicule and sometimes even of bitter resentment. Back to the case of Kuwait, what can we understand from students seeking to outmanoeuvre their mentors? Many potential theologians in Kuwait take pride in gaining knowledge from Saudi scholars, and this signifies the validity of the methodology. However, they did not stop at disputing the ban on allowing Sheikh al Oraifi to enter Kuwait, as this is an issue that could be understood within the context of Shia-Sunni exchanges, very much like the situation in neighbouring Iraq; rather, those theologians have now started to debate a far more important issue that is not related to sectarian violence in any way, and that is the issue of women. First of all I would like to say that I am totally aware that a large part of Saudi Islamist potential theologians support every strict hard-line proposal and oppose every new tolerant one. However, this is clear within the Saudi situation. What is unclear here is the vehement response from Kuwaiti Islamists to the concept of independent interpretation by Saudi sheikhs. It is very odd. Everyone in Saudi Arabia has observed the positive and exciting interaction within the ranks of top sheikhs and theology students over the issue of women, their role in society and the lifting of restrictions imposed upon them. This reached its peak with the statements made by Sheikh Ahmed Bin Qassem al Ghamdi, Director of the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, Mecca Province (CPVPV). Not only did he make statements about the issue of women, but he
[ppiindia] Perencanaan Keuangan Perusahaan Pembiayaan Bank Syariah
