[proletar] Zainab Alhusni Mati Disiksa Cara Islamiah Oleh Syria !!!
Zainab Alhusni Mati Disiksa Cara Islamiah Oleh Syria !!! Ny. Two State Solution, the Arab and the Jews, There is No Palestine !!! They named themselves as "Palestine" for the Islamic Arabs. They are not the Palestine but the impostor of the Palestine. The conflict is not between the Jewish and the Palestine but the Jewish against the Arabs. The real two state solution therefore, the Jews and the Arab, there is no Palestine, since the Palestine impostors are the Arab moslems themselves. > "Sunny" wrote: > How does the world solve an > intractable problem such as > the Israeli-Palestinian conflict? > Sixty-three years later the > world is still where Harry > S Truman left it. Assuming the world try to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is absolutely wrong. So far, the world as well as America are just mediators, they never involved with the conflict. This is not a complicated problem and there are many simple solution. The ways the world want to help the Arab Palestine are rejectable since those are against the Islamic teaching. There are no Palestinian but Arab who are the impostor of the Palestinian. The British call the inhabitant as Jewish Palestine and Arab Palestine where they both live together in the same place for a period of time. Since the Arab muslim and the Jewish Palestine want to have their own countries, the British transfers the mandat to the united nation to execute the will. The Jewish Palestine receives part of the land and named it as "Israel". The Arab Palestine get the remaining land and named it as "Jordan". The Mandat had been done, and the expectation had been received, there were no problems at all to this point. The problems emerged when million of the Jewish people in the Arab's countries had been executed, expelled, and viciously tortured because of the religious hatred. Million of the Jews escaped to Israel, however, the Arabs chased wherever the Jews were hidden. The Arabs sent troops and armor to destroy Israel and the Israeli Arabs rebelled the Israeli government to support the Arab's troops. To make the story short, the Arabs defeated, and the rebellious Israeli Arabs run away to Jordan to concentrate forces for a long-life attack into the Israel. PLO had been established and they named them-self as "Palestine" to cover the defeated Arabs' involvement. Those the Palestine impostors had nothing to do with Palestine or Liberation forces, they are all Arabs who believe that the Jews must be annihilated or destroyed from our world for the sake of Allah !!! We will easily concluded, that the simple solution as easy as to convert into Islam and give the country to the Arabs. There are no other option, only one simple solution you must to choose, destroy the Arabs or destrory the Jews. However, the world want to save them both then the complicated solution must be found, that is not peace nor it is war. [proletar] Ayo Lawan Kampanye Negatif Sawit
[proletar] No need for the Caliphate
http://weekly.ahram.org.eg/2011/1065/op1.htm 22 - 28 September 2011 Issue No. 1065 Published in Cairo by AL-AHRAM established in 1875 No need for the Caliphate Egypt should not be copying Iran or Turkey but rather rediscovering the principles of civil government its forefathers laid down, writes Abdel-Moneim Said I must admit that I am a great admirer of Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the way he steered his country towards economic development and then turned this progress to the advantage of his country's foreign policy. Naturally, I have some reservations with regard to some of his histrionics. Diplomacy should be more sober, even if it engages theatrical elements. Bill Clinton mentioned in his memoirs that throughout his political career he felt as though he were part of an exciting, action-packed film. Erdogan may feel the same, although he has always been a hero of a special sort, one that acquired definition from his handling of the Palestinian cause and his visit to Somalia. But perhaps it showed clearest when, with his encouragement, his Muslim Brotherhood supporters in Egypt received him with the cry for the revival of the Islamic Caliphate. Of course, the Turks couch this calling in more sophisticated and contemporary terms. They call it "neo-Ottomanism" -- "Ottoman" because of the centuries of Ottoman/Turkish influence on the Caliphate and "neo" because for more than a century before its collapse, the "old" Ottoman Caliphate did not have all that much to recommend it and was commonly known as "The Sick Man of Europe". What Erdogan has going for him is that he has a very keen understanding of the world we live in. Turkey is a member of NATO and it is still seeking membership in the EU. He is Muslim, but Muslim in accordance with the secular frame of reference that, in fact, ultimately enabled him to reach power and hoist the banner of Islam at the same time. His knowledge of today's world and openness to the spirit of the age helped him appreciate that Christianity flourished when it distanced itself from the state and, also, that his party would not have reached power had it not been for the separation between religion and the state in Turkey. I imagine that a good many Muslim Brothers here were shocked when the Turkish prime minister rose to the defence of secularism rather than construing it as a synonym of heresy. Erdogan realises that Islam offers a vast and bountiful expanse for the heart, mind, soul and conscience and that it needs no bureaucratic machinery, especially of the sort that some would like to use to tame people and force them into a single mould in which there is no space for creativity or ingenuity. Egypt, today, is caught between the pull of two socio-political models, one Iranian, the other Turkish. Historically, Egypt had always offered a model of its own, to which testifies the birth of the modern Egyptian state in 1922. However, history never reproduces itself exactly so perhaps drawing closer to Turkey is our only salvation from Iran. On the other hand, maybe we will summon the courage to return to our own indigenous principles of civil government as laid down by the fathers of the Egyptian state. Imagine, in those days there were also voices calling for the re-establishment of the Caliphate, but in Cairo, not in Ankara. [proletar] Libyan Islamists threaten to kill journalists - Sources
http://www.asharq-e.com/news.asp?section=5&id=26683 Libyan Islamists threaten to kill journalists - Sources 23/09/2011 By Abdul Sattar Hatita Cairo, Asharq Al-Awsat – Asharq Al-Awsat has learnt that Libyan Islamist militants who participated in the recent Libyan revolution that brought down Colonel Muammar Gaddafi after almost 42 years in power have threatened to assassinate journalists for criticizing them. Journalists working for a new liberal newspaper launched in Libya following the collapse of the Gaddafi regime, named the “Aarous al-Bahr” [Bride of the Sea] newspaper, received death threats from Islamist militants in Tripoli. This was after the “Aarous al-Bahr” newspaper criticized associates of the leader of the newly established Tripoli Military Council, Abdelhakim Belhadj, who is himself a former Emir of the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group [LIFG]. A number of new liberal newspapers have been launched in Libya following the ouster of Colonel Gaddafi, and they have criticized the Islamist militants who took part in the “liberation of Tripoli”, claiming that they are trying to dictate changes in Libyan society, including calling for the closure of beauty salons, and putting pressure on women to wear the hijab. Belhajd’s appearance as a senior figure in the 17 February revolution that ended Colonel Gaddafi’s rule has led to fears regarding the future of a civil and democratic Libya, particularly after it was revealed that Belhadj had fought alongside the Afghan mujahedeen against the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan, and that he previously possessed extremist ideology, before renouncing violence. Belhadj responded to these fears by in his first public address in Libya, stressing that he supports the establishment of a civil and democratic Libyan state. However commenting on Belhadj, National Transitional Council [NTC] representative in Egypt, Fayez Jibril, told Asharq Al-Awsat that "actions, not words, are what matters." He also said that although Libyan society is religious by nature, the people of Libya follow a moderate interpretation of Islam, rejecting Islamic extremism. “Aarous al-Bahr” Editor-in-Chief, Fathi Bin Issa, sent a letter to the NTC, claiming that the newspaper had received telephone threats on Wednesday. He revealed that the caller had threatened to “physically exterminate” the newspaper's journalists for “insulting” Belhadj. Issa sent copies of this letter to a number of local and international news outlets, including Asharq Al-Awsat, as well as international organizations like the UN. He stressed that this was not the first time that “Aarous al-Bahr” had received such threats since its establishment on 31 August 2011. He said that these threats aim to prevent the “Aarous al-Bahr” staff from carrying out their work and “informing public opinion of public affairs.” In his letter to the NTC, Issa said that “instead of those who believe that they have been harmed by the content of the newspaper resorting to the pen in order to refute this using proof and evidence” they have resorted to “the method of threatening to physically extermination the journalists responsible for this with the objective of silencing them.” Issa revealed that this was the first time that “Aarous al-Bahr” staff had received such “explicit” death threats. He called on the Libyan authorities to take the necessary action to protect freedom of expression in the country, stressing that if the NTC fails to deal with this problem then “the threat of violence and death will be the [only] means of dialogue.” He also said that the method used by these Belhadj supporters to threaten the newspaper and its staff “is the same method used by Gaddafi and his revolutionary committees.” He stressed that Libya must not return to the restrictions of the past, following the 17 February revolution that liberated the country from the harsh Gaddafi rule. For his part, Libyan journalist Emad al-Obeidi revealed that the “Aarous al-Bahr” newspaper – in addition to another local newspaper – has adopted a critical style that Libyan society is not used to following almost 42 years of restrictive Gaddafi rule. He stressed that “criticism in general was unprecedented in the Gaddafi era.” [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] Post message: prole...@egroups.com Subscribe : proletar-subscr...@egroups.com Unsubscribe : proletar-unsubscr...@egroups.com List owner : proletar-ow...@egroups.com Homepage: http://proletar.8m.com/Yahoo! [proletar] Judicial freedom but with responsibility
http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2011\09\26\story_26-9-2011_pg3_2 Monday, September 26, 2011 COMMENT: Judicial freedom but with responsibility —Ishaque Malik Judicial independence is of supreme importance for an impartial and effective judiciary but judicial accountability is also a complement to it. The cause of justice can be served only through an ideal blend of the two Judicial independence is required to be nurtured and preserved by any just and fair society for at least four basic reasons: one, to fulfil the most basic need of a society to have an impartial and independent body to protect citizens’ legal rights and to resolve their disputes without being influenced by any internal or external factors; two, the doctrine of separation of powers requires that the judiciary should be independent of the two other pillars of state, i.e. the executive and the legislature; three, the rule of law requires judicature to be independent and four, for ensuring human rights and fundamental freedoms to the members of society. Judges must, thus, be made free and autonomous of all internal and external factors that may restrain their ability to work without fear or favour. The concept of judicial freedom gives birth to the ideas of judicial accountability since no independence could be unqualified and unrestrained. The most basic argument in favour of judicial accountability is to prevent the judges and their institution from abuse of authority as judicial independence is not an end in itself but only a means to a larger end and it is to be ensured that the purpose of that larger end is properly served. One other logic for judicial accountability is that the judicial system and judges are supposed to function in accordance with all sorts of written and unwritten instructions, rules, laws. Justice is administered within the ambit of laid down parameters and principles. It, therefore, becomes imperative to see how devoutly adherence to those instructions has been observed by the members of the judiciary. Thirdly, the concept of accountability is a natural corollary to exercise of power. The authority that exercises a power must be made accountable to some other authority to assess how far the exercise of given powers succeeded in obtaining the desired results for which it was intended. Fourthly, the role of the judiciary during the past century has tremendously enlarged due to the expansion of judicial outreach in welfare states, rising awareness and consequent enforcement of social rights, increasing public interest litigation and greater resort to judicial review. This enlargement of the judicial role has enhanced the procedural and substantive responsibilities of the judges as well as the need for judicial responsibility and accountability. There are two main obstacles to judicial accountability: the concept of judicial immunity and res judicata (a matter adjudged). The concept of judicial immunity derives its strength from the old principle that “the king can do no wrong”. Even the concept of sovereignty appeared irreconcilable to the idea of state responsibility. There, however, prevailed another equally strong tradition in some ancient states, like Athens, that held every public functionary accountable for each of the acts performed in that capacity. There is, however, an emerging trend to shun the concept of state immunity and resort to a democratic concept of accountability. The second obstacle to judicial accountability is the principle of res judicata. The judicial decisions that attain finality, res judicata, become laws unto themselves and an act that creates the law cannot be against the law. So, any wrong decision that has attained finality could not serve as a basis for the accountability of the judge or judges who pronounced such a decision. Some countries have countered this obstacle by providing opportunity to the aggrieved to challenge such decisions, though with some restrictions. The biggest of all the questions is how to give effect to judicial accountability in such a way that the independence of the judiciary is not compromised. In fact, it is a very delicate aspect that needs very careful handling as it runs the risks of spilling over to encroachment on judicial freedom, which is entirely essential to achieve the ultimate objective of serving the cause of the free and fair dispensation of justice to the citizenry. The judges could neither be made subservient to the political executive or legislature, nor could they be held above the law. There is a need to strike a beneficial balance between the independence of the judiciary and its accountability by subjecting judges to scrutiny to improve judicial conduct and performance and to ensure judicial accountability without reducing their insulation from intrinsic and extrinsic forces. Legal and political science experts have devised different models and typologies

Motley Crue: Don't Buy Tickets to Fake Concert September 26, 2011 03:10 AM EDT Fans of rock band Motley Crue are being told to be cautious as false reports have been issued stating they will be performing a concert in Jakarta, Indonesia, next month. The band does not have any immediate plans to visit the capital city of Indonesia despite local reports regarding an upcoming show. They are concerned that someone may be attempting a ticket sales scam, so don't buy tickets if you see them advertised for this non-existent show! According to KOIN, the heavy metal band's website includes a statement that reads, "Legendary rock titans Motley Crue have no scheduled concerts anywhere in Indonesia. The band distances itself from any such announcements, as no agreements for a show at Pantai Karnival in Jakarta or anywhere else in the country were ever made. Motley Crue advises its fans that any concert rumors are false, and to be wary of any vendors advertising ticket sales." Motley Crue doesn't want to be held liable for the possible scam, so this statement helps prevent any liability on their end. Of course, if tickets are sold, then hopefully it can lead to an arrest of those attempting to profit off of the band's name. http://celebs.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474980400068 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] Post message: prole...@egroups.com Subscribe : proletar-subscr...@egroups.com Unsubscribe : proletar-unsubscr...@egroups.com List owner : proletar-ow...@egroups.com Homepage: http://proletar.8m.com/Yahoo! [proletar] Towards Israel-Palestine unity
http://www.dailytimes.com.pk/default.asp?page=2011\09\26\story_26-9-2011_pg3_6 Monday, September 26, 2011 VIEW: Towards Israel-Palestine unity —Yasser Latif Hamdani A prosperous Palestine allied with Israel is the only guarantee of Israel’s status as a Jewish state. It will also solve the irksome issue of settlements that have plagued all negotiations How does the world solve an intractable problem such as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict? Sixty-three years later the world is still where Harry S Truman left it. President Obama, who showed so much potential in the beginning, now cuts a pathetic figure — helpless and overcome by events. Too much history and emphasis on competing national narratives have ensured that the solution as envisaged now remains elusive for some time to come. It is important then to begin at the irreducible minimums claimed by the parties to the conflict. First of all, Israel is here to stay and this is a bitter pill that partisans of Palestine have to swallow. Sixty-three years of determined existence has proved that throwing out Israel is an impossible undertaking. Second, the Israelis are unlikely to give up the Jewish nature of their state, even if practically they are a secular country. Third, Palestinians deserve to have a state of their own. Fourth, this future Palestinian state existing in close proximity to Israel will remain embroiled in a never-ending conflict with Israel. The essential question is how to preserve the first three without allowing the fourth to hijack the Mideast peace process for all times to come. People have spoken in the past of a one state solution instead of two but the one state solution hits at the heart of Jewish anxiety vis-à-vis the identity of their state. Yet it seems that not enough consideration has been given by the statesmen in either nation to a middle way, i.e. an Israeli-Palestinian confederation where a sovereign Israel and a sovereign Palestine come together for the sake of the defence of their common interests. Jerusalem can be the symbolic capital of this confederation with Tel Aviv and Ramallah taking their places as individual capitals of the two confederating sovereign states. Such an arrangement could even be called an Abrahamic Confederation, seeing as it would create political unity between the three Abrahamic religions. Defence would have to be, in such a confederation, a mutual responsibility of Israel and Palestine, backed by both a joint defence pact and a no war pact. The Israeli Defence Forces could help train the Palestinians as defenders of their frontiers. In return, peaceful coexistence between Palestine and Israel will ensure economic opportunities for the Palestinian youth and to this end Israel would do well to open the doors of its universities and institutions of higher learning to Palestinians. An educated Palestinian middle class will welcome jobs and opportunities in Israel’s corporate sector. A prosperous Palestine allied with Israel is the only guarantee of Israel’s status as a Jewish state. It will also solve the irksome issue of settlements that have plagued all negotiations. Palestinians, especially Muslims, have a great example for such a political arrangement. The great Medina Pact negotiated and signed by the Holy Prophet (PBUH) provided for precisely this kind of unity. Article 25 of the said pact made Jews, Muslims and other residents of Medina one ummah (community) for the purposes of defence of Medina. A mighty Abrahamic Confederation consisting of a sovereign Israel and a sovereign Palestine will not only bring peace to them but will be a pillar of stability and a welcome note of unity in an increasingly divided world. As the Arabs shake off centuries of slumber and take their place as prosperous democratic states of the world, Israel can play a unique role as a democracy that is both modern in form and ancient in spirit in guiding not just its Palestinian neighbours but also the greater Semitic world, i.e. the Arabs. Too many ties of religion, culture and history link Jews and Arabs together. It is time that this historical reality expressed itself not antagonistically but as a protagonist of the great story of the rise of the Middle East in the 21st century. If they succeed, they will set an extraordinary precedent for dispute resolution around the world. Will an Israel and a Palestine dominated by hawks of Likud and Hamas ever allow such a solution? There is no doubt that the political will to bury the hatchet is entirely absent on both sides. Yet statesmanship demands that politicians on either side put their people before their real and perceived grievances and common good before egos for the betterment of their future generations. History beckons them to ignore the bitterness that poisoned their narratives and write one together. Will they heed its call? The writer is a lawyer based in Lahore. He is also a regular contributor
[proletar] Citibank serves up cautionary tale in Bali
***"For Citibank, it's not important where the money comes from but that it stays there," Simbolon said. Southeast Asia Sep 27, 2011 Citibank serves up cautionary tale in Bali By Muhammad Cohen BALI - When Bali's Ubud Writers and Readers Festival announced its title sponsorship agreement with Citibank last year, administrators and fans undoubtedly felt the annual literary gathering could count on a secure financial base. They also may have felt, sheepish with political incorrectness, that the US-based global bank's support was better insulated from scandal and shame than an arrangement with an Indonesian company. They were wrong on both counts. "I was under the impression it was a three-year deal," Ubud festival founder and director Janet de Neefe said. "I was pretty disappointed." Citibank withdrew its sponsorship in June, leaving the Ubud festival scrambling to align its lofty ambitions for this year's eighth edition, running October 5-9, with a suddenly barebones budget. The bank abandoned its Ubud sponsorship in the wake of two high-profile scandals that came to light almost simultaneously in March. Befitting an erstwhile patron of the arts, Citibank's troubles range from the comic to tragic. Banker Barbie Citibank wealth manager Malinda Dee, one of Jakarta's best known forty-somethings, was arrested in March amid allegations she had stolen an estimated US$2 million from more than 120 depositors. For 15 years as a senior customer relations manager, Dee had persuaded wealthy clients to deposit funds with Citibank. She offered "Priority Banking" accounts with a minimum starting deposit of $50,000, about 17 times Indonesia's per capita annual GDP. According to her attorney, Batara Simbolon, Dee didn't really steal the money, she just borrowed it for other investments. Only a fraction of her allegedly fleeced clients initially came forward to claim losses, perhaps because they didn't want police scrutinizing the origins of their wealth too closely. "For Citibank, it's not important where the money comes from but that it stays there," Simbolon said. In contrast to her days on the fashion and society pages, Dee has taken to wearing Islamic attire, including the hijab (headscarf), for court appearances. Citibank wouldn't comment on the case since it is still in litigation, but it is reportedly cooperating with prosecutors. Dee's case was ready to proceed to trial at the South Jakarta District Court, the Jakarta Post reported on September 14, citing Attorney General Office spokesman Agung Noor Rahmat. Dee will be charged with allegedly violating the 2008 Law on Money Laundering, the report said. A knowledgeable source said the bank has taken steps to avert future frauds, including increasing rotation among relationship managers, so that the relationships don't get too cozy. Political debt While the Dee scandal can inspire a chuckle since no one got hurt except rich people and their banker, the story of Irzen Okta is strictly tragic. The head of the miniscule National Unifying Party, Okta had a Citibank credit card, the product many international banks use as a beachhead in overseas markets. Okta had run up a bill of 48 million rupiahs ($5,486) that with interest and late fees had climbed to over 100 million rupiahs. Debt collectors in late March this year came to Okta's house outside Jakarta that he shared with his wife and two teenage daughters. He convinced them to leave with a promise that he would visit t a Citibank branch in the capital the next day to try to settle the debt. At the branch, he went into a room with three debt collectors and underwent "harsh interrogation", according to a police spokesman. Witnesses heard banging on tables, chairs kicked, and Okta taunted and intimidated. Citibank denies reports that Okta was beaten, even though his blood was found in the room. What's not in dispute is that 50-year-old Okta never left the room alive, collapsing on the floor dead of a brain hemorrhage. Police have charged five Citibank contract debt collectors in connection with Okta's death. "We found no evidence of physical violence from our own internal investigations," Citibank regional spokesman James Griffiths said. According to the bank, all debt collectors - employees or contractors - are held to a code of conduct that prohibits violence. Citibank chief country officer Tigor Siahaan, appointed in June to try to repair the bank's image, said Okta's deadly
[proletar] Islamic healing is on the rise in Southeast Asia
Islamic healing is on the rise in Southeast Asia . * Del.icio.us * Facebook * Stumbleupon * Newsvine * Yahoo bookmarks * Mixx * Digg * Reddit * Google Bookmarks * Twitter * LinkedIn (AP) JAKARTA, Indonesia — A 47-year-old housewife who recently started using Islamic alternative cures emerged tearfully from an exorcism, speaking of newfound tranquility after a turbulent time in her life. Also, her abdominal pains are finally easing. Suratmi, who suffers from an ovarian cyst, has been taking a mix of herbal treatments harking back to the dawn of Islam, as well as undergoing exorcisms at a clinic in Jakarta. She is among a growing number of Muslims in Southeast Asia turning away from Western medical care in favor of al-Tibb al-Nawabi, or Medicine of the Prophet, a loosely defined discipline based on the Quran and other Islamic texts and traditional remedies. "I heard that so many people have been healed, so I hope Allah can help me. I followed His path here," said Suratmi, who like many Indonesians goes by one name. The trend in Islamic treatments, cosmetics and toiletries is often associated with fundamentalists who charge that Western, chemically laced prescriptions aim to poison Muslims or defile them with insulin and other medicines made from pigs. Members of terrorist groups have been involved in Islamic remedies as healers and sellers, while some clinics are used as recruiting grounds for Islamist causes. But the bulk of those seeking out Islamic clinics, hospitals and pharmacies appear to be moderate Muslims, reflecting a rise in Islamic consciousness worldwide. "Islamic medicine carries a cachet that, by taking it, you are reinforcing your faith — and the profits go to Muslims," says Sidney Jones, an expert on Islam in Southeast Asia with the International Crisis Group. These Islamic products have become a big business with a customer base in Southeast Asia alone of roughly 250 million Muslims. The industry's advertising is as gimmicky as any in the West. Capitalizing on the popularity of U.S. President Barack Obama, who spent four of his childhood years in Indonesia, one company produces a popular anti-stress concoction called Obahama — in a corruption of an Indonesian phrase for herbal medicine. Siwak-F, also exported to the Middle East, is hailed as "toothpaste just like the Prophet used to use." The industry also is going high-tech. Malaysia's Petronas University of Technology is developing an application for mobile devices to query what Islamic remedies are recommended for anything from toothaches to depression, says Hanita Daud, one of the developers. Like much of Islamic medicine, it's grounded on the saying that "Allah did not create a disease for which he did not also create a cure." This is taken from Prophet Mohammed's teachings known as hadiths, which along with the Quran make frequent references to diseases, remedies and healthy living. What is termed classical Islamic medicine developed in medieval times when it far outshone that in Christian Europe, and exerted a significant influence on it. Practitioners say many ingredients in today's treatments were used in Mohammed's time, including honey, olive oil, bee pollen, dates and black caraway — which one ad claims is "a cure for every disease but death." In Indonesia, Islamic alternative healing really took off after a government promotional campaign in 2009, says Brury Machendra, owner of the Insani Herbal Clinic in suburban Jakarta where Suratmi and up to 400 other patients per month seek treatment. Only one such clinic existed in the Depok suburb two years ago, but now there are 20, with 70 others waiting for government permits. Machendra, who also is secretary-general of the Traditional Herbal Medicine Association of Indonesia, says most Indonesian Muslims don't doubt conventional medicine. But he says Indonesia's health services are so poor and expensive that many people seek out alternatives. His clinic offers herbal medicine, a bloodletting treatment known as bekam and exorcisms in which a white-gloved therapist places a hand on a patient's head while chanting verses from the Quran. An exorcism costs about $12, while Machendra's government-certified herbal products such as the purportedly anti-cancer BioCarnoma and anti-diabetes BioGlukol go for no more than $5 for 60 capsules. He acknowledges that clinics such as his benefit from traditional Muslim rules forbidding certain ingredients and that many fundamentalists "tell people not to go to infidel doctors and say that buying Western medicine is forbidden." Jemaah Islamiyah, an al-Qaida-linked militant network that is essentially banned in Indonesia, is believed to have links to some herbal manufacturers and operate many of the country's Islamic medicine clinics, International Crisis Group says. But Jones says the clinics a
Sebagaimana sejarah membuktikannya bahwa Who command the sea, command the world, penguasaan laut sangat menentukan kekuatan dan ketahanan suatu Negara. Menghadapi tantangan era globalisasi persaingan bebas (Asian Free Trade Area - AFTA), sektor kelautan menjadi begitu penting artinya bagi pembangunan suatu Negara kepulauan terbesar di dunia seperti Indonesia (the largest archipelagic nation in the world).

http://www.smh.com.au/world/spotlight-on-blair-peace-envoy-role-over-gaddafi-and-jpmorgan-link-20110926-1ktkw.html Spotlight on Blair peace envoy role over Gaddafi and JPMorgan link Robert Booth September 27, 2011 Business ... Blair and Gaddafi in Tripoli in 2004. Photo: AP TONY BLAIR is facing calls for greater transparency in his role as Middle East peace envoy after it has emerged he visited Muammar Gaddafi in 2009 while JPMorgan, the investment bank that employs Blair as a £2 million-a-year ($3.2 million) adviser, sought to negotiate a multibillion-pound loan from Libya. Blair also championed two large business deals in the West Bank and Gaza involving telecoms and gas extraction which stood to benefit corporate clients of JPMorgan, an investigation by the UK Channel 4 TV station's Dispatches program reveals. Blair, who represents the diplomatic Quartet on the Middle East - the US, European Union, Russia and the United Nations - flew to see the former Libyan leader in January 2009 as JPMorgan tried to finalise a deal for the Libyan Investment Authority to lend a multibillion-pound sum to Rusal, the aluminium company run by Russian billionaire Oleg Deripaska. The LIA was set up by Gaddafi to manage the country's wealth and was estimated to be worth $64 billion last September. Emails obtained by anti-corruption campaign group Global Witness and seen by the Guardian reveal JPMorgan's vice-chairman, Lord Renwick, invited the then vice-chairman of LIA, Mustafa Zarti, to ''finalise the terms of the mandate concerning Rusal before Mr Blair's visit to Tripoli which is scheduled to take place on around 22 January''. The meeting went ahead, but a spokesman for Mr Blair denied the former British prime minister had been involved in the proposed Rusal deal. A spokesman for JPMorgan said Blair had no knowledge of the proposal but could not explain why Blair's visit to Gaddafi was raised in the email. ''Neither Tony Blair nor any of his staff raised any issue to do with a Russian aluminium company,'' Blair's spokesman said. A Rusal presentation obtained by Global Witness showed the aluminium company had been seeking a $4.5 billion loan in the form of a convertible bond, but the deal never happened. In the Palestinian territories as the quartet envoy, Blair persuaded the Israeli government to open radio frequencies so mobile phone company Wataniya could operate in the West Bank. The company's owner, Qtel, a Qatari telecoms company, is a client of JPMorgan and bought Wataniya with a $2 billion loan the bank helped arrange. The second deal saw Mr Blair champion the development of a gas field off the coast of Gaza. The owner of the rights to operate the field is BG Group, a client of JPMorgan. A spokesman for Mr Blair said: ''In neither case was Mr Blair even aware JPMorgan had a connection with the company.'' [proletar] 'Kasus Rawagede, Periode Kolonial Belum Kami Tutup dengan Baik'
http://www.tempo.co/hg/hukum/2011/09/15/brk,20110915-356419,id.html 'Kasus Rawagede, Periode Kolonial Belum Kami Tutup dengan Baik' Kamis, 15 September 2011 | 13:48 WIB Besar Kecil Normal Liesbeth Zegveld, pengacara korban Rawagede, Karawang, Jawa Barat. (ikonrtv.nl) a.. “Saya ingin Belanda mengganti tiga ekor kambing ayah saya,” ujar Saih bin Sakam bersahaja seperti dikutip wartawan Radio Nederland Junito Drias tahun lalu. Tapi pengacara pasti bakal lebih repot ketimbang cuma mencari kambing pengganti. Tujuh Desember 1947 sebuah satuan Belanda pimpinan Mayor Wijnen memasuki Desa Rawagede (kini Balongsari), dekat Kerawang, mencari “bandit-bandit republiken”. Ratusan pria, ada yang menyebut 431, ditembak mati. Sakam, saat itu berusia 20-an, waspada. Melihat ayahnya tewas, dia buru buru berpura-pura mati. Seorang prajurit Belanda mendatanginya.

[proletar] Rawagede – why now, what next?
http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2011/09/25/rawagede-%E2%80%93-why-now-what-next.html Rawagede – why now, what next? Aboeprijadi Santoso, The Jakarta Post, Amsterdam | Sun, 09/25/2011 4:00 AM Rawagede Justice delayed, (some) justice achieved – is what happened to the Rawagede case. On Dec. 9, 1947, a Dutch army unit came to Rawagede, now called Balongsari, West Java, collected hundreds of unarmed male civilians and executed them. A Dutch civil court decided last week the Netherlands is responsible for these unlawful killings and has to compensate the victims’ families. The verdict raises the question on the likelihood of similar cases in Dutch-East India to follow suit. But why did such a crime – in today’s parlance, a gross human rights violation – come into court only six decades later, and what role did the Netherlands and Indonesia play thus far? The case illustrates the predominance of both Dutch and Indonesia’s state interests on their relationship over the fate of their citizens over the decades. History’s victims, as usual, are victims of contemporary lack of elite’s political will. On the Dutch side, it represents the crumbling of a decades-long government position, even when they did not deny the cases, of avoidance and rejection of judicial prosecution. In the case of Rawagede, it started with the “deal” between commander Lt. Gen. S.H. Spoor and the prosecutor H.W. Federhof in January 1948 not to prosecute Maj. A. Wijnen who led the expedition. But public debate on Dutch war crimes only came after an ex-Dutch soldier, Joop Hueting, in 1969 revealed similar cases that compelled the government to issue Excessennota – a report that recognized them only as “excessive acts” of the military. A prosecution would thus only create “confusion”. Soon another ex-colonial soldiers J.A.A. Doorn and W.J. Hendrix, followed, whose book Ontsporing van Geweld (Derailment of Violence), describing similar cases, capturing public interest. Indeed, there has been continuing state negligence of such cases “in 1948, 1969 and 1995”, which the Rawagede plaintiff advocate, Prof. Liesbeth Zegveld, saw as “a continuity of illegitimate acts of the [Dutch] State”. Neither these nor critical reports and documentaries led to court proceedings, but public interest on recent past lingered on. In 1987 a Dutch ex-cavalry officer, Col. (ret) C.A. Heshuhius, sparked controversy. He opposed historian Prof. L. de Jong, who was assigned to write an official history of the Netherlands during the WW-II, because De Jong, in his chapters on Indonesia, described cases such as Rawagede as “oorlogsmisdaden” (war crimes) – a sensitive concept in the Netherlands that reminded too much of Nazi war crimes. Indie-veterans like Heshuhius were furious and succeeded to force De Jong to drop the term. His “victory” reflected the considerable influence of the Indie-veterans, whose interests were represented by the conservative political party VVD and protected by Prince Bernhard of Orange. De Jong’s works became standard, but by saving the Indie-veterans’ prestige from fatal association with the Nazis, it helped the Dutch government avoid demanding investigations and eventually bringing the 76 cases (according to the Excessennota) to the court. The 1990s were years of growing critical awareness of the Dutch colonial past. Among them: Graa Boomsma, a writer, son of an ex-soldier, demanded critical investigation and Jan Pronk, a minister and Dutch enfant terrible, insisted on the need to re-appreciate Sukarno and Indonesia’s independence proclamation of Aug. 17, 1945. However, thanks to the Indie lobby, the Dutch cabinets succeeded to overcome attempts of reappraisal and avoided controversial issues that could lead to prosecution. They even prevented the Queen from expressing “excuse” on the colonial past when visiting Indonesia in 1995. It took another decade before a Dutch Foreign Minister, Ben Bot, – himself, like most Indie-veterans, a former prisoner under Japanese rule in Batavia – deplored the fact that “the Dutch were on the wrong side of history” and pronounced a statement that sounded like a recognition of Aug. 17, 1945 as Indonesia’s independence date. In fact, it was a political, moral “aanvaarding” or acceptance, not de jure recognition. Now, another decade yet again, a new generation has come with courage to reject state’s “verjaring” (expiry) argument and won the case. Meanwhile, not only the Dutch, but we, Indonesians, as well had long ignored the importance of colonial and our own war crimes. We, too, need a serious reappraisal for the sake of our nation’s history, but also to honor victims. The Soeharto government, the first to normalize full diplomatic relations with the Netherlands, had as paramount interest establishing economic aid. Neither side were interested in investigating the nation’s recent past. Decades on, despite critical voices at home and elsewhere, th
[proletar] Motif Bom Solo Dipastikan Jihad
http://www.sinarharapan.co.id/content/read/motif-bom-solo-dipastikan-jihad/ 26.09.2011 14:25 Motif Bom Solo Dipastikan Jihad Penulis : Deytri Aritonang/M Bachtiar Nur/Lili Sunardi/Retno Manuhoro (foto:SH/Edy Wahyudi) JAKARTA – Polri memastikan serangan bom bunuh diri di Gereja Bethel Injil Sepenuh (GBIS) Kepunton, Solo, Jawa Tengah, pada Minggu (25/9) pagi bermotif jihad. Jarak antara nama log in pertama dan log in berikutnya hanya selisih sedikit.
