Avids website - a veritable nightmare

2014-01-21 Thread Krister Ekstrom
Hi there.
Well maybe i overdo it a little when i call Avids website a nightmare. Most
things are usable but for two things. For one, when you want to change your
password there’s a captcha that is very hard to beat. I had to have sighted
assistance to manage it and secondly, and here’s where i need your help, good
people: I’m trying to register my copy of Protools 11 so that i can download it
to my computer. All goes well, with entering various address info and phone
numbers etc, then i enter the second page of the web form, where i am to
describe what i use PT for, and the only mandatory field there is the ”purchase
date” field. Unfortunately this field seems not at all recognizable to
Voiceover, for it says ”text clickable” and ”image” and nothing whatsoever
happens when i try clicking with the vo+space command and i can’t route the
mouse there, and even when i can, nothing happens when i physically click the
mouse, i can’t type text in, i can’t do anything with that field. Anyone
experienced this and have a workaround?

2014-01-21 Thread Slau Halatyn
Hi Krister,

Call +1-650-731-6300 and follow the prompts for help with registration. You'll
get somebody on the phone who might be able to assist you. I tried to type into
that field and, coincidentally, somehow entered January 2014 even though I was
trying to enter December 2013. At any rate, I managed to get a date into the
field even though it's not accessible. The division that deals with the phone
support for registration and the like is called Avid Customer Success. They
helped me with a reset of the password because of the CAPTCHA and they might
even be able to help with the creation of an account.

Re: registerd my boxed copy of pro tools 10 but not listted in my newly created avid.com account

2014-01-21 Thread Slau Halatyn
Hi Nick,

You referred to Lion in your message but I'm assuming you meant Mountain Lion.
Pro Tools 10.3.6 is the first Mavericks compatible version and it most
definitely works with Mountain Lion as well so 10.3.8 will also work with both
ML and Mavericks.

You can definitely import a 10.3.8 session into version 11 for off-line
bouncing and, as you already noted, providing you're not using plug-ins in
version 10 that are not yet available in version 11, you'll be able to bounce
off-line. Of course, even if plug-ins are missing, Pro Tools will simply bounce
them anyway only without the processing of those missing plug-ins.

Re: Latest PT11 with Mountain Lion

2014-01-21 Thread Chi Kim

Hi Slau,

When I'm inside the track list table and move VO cursor, VO only says
something like column 1 row 1, column 2 row 2, column 1 row 2, and so
on. VO reports the track name outside track list table though.
If I click on the first column for each row inside the track list table,
it show/hide the track. However, VO says selected empty cell.
Another thing I found is that VO no longer reports whether something is
selected or not. All the toggles on the edit view. I.E. tab to
transients, midi mirror editing, and so on.
Fortunately VO seems to read the plugins parameter fine under Mountain
Lion. Yea!
I just clean installed Mountain Lion and updated to 10.8.5, and the only
program I have is PT11. The reason I'm on Mountain Lion is that the
school doesn't support Mavericks yet.

Re: Latest PT11 with Mountain Lion

2014-01-21 Thread Slau Halatyn
Hi Chi,

Ah, now I now that this is a VoiceOver issue because the same version of Pro
Tools running under Mavericks as opposed to Mountain Lion does not exhibit the
same problem. This was the case with counter displays not being read and
buttons not revealing their states.

Indeed, clicking on the first column of that table will show or hide the track.
Unfortunately, you won't know whether it's shown unless you either check the
mixer section or move to the second column and bring up the contextual menu
which would certainly make you want to shoot yourself to go through that
tediousness.

Maybe the school will make an exception for you and install Mavericks on just
one machine? That might be asking too much, I suppose. Anyway, hang in there
and thanks for letting me know about the ML behavior.

Cheers,

 Hi Slau,

When I'm inside the track list table and move VO cursor, VO only says
something like column 1 row 1, column 2 row 2, column 1 row 2, and so on. VO
reports the track name outside track list table though.
If I click on the first column for each row inside the track list table, it
show/hide the track. However, VO says selected empty cell.
Another thing I found is that VO no longer reports whether something is
selected or not. All the toggles on the edit view. I.E. tab to transients,
midi mirror editing, and so on.
Fortunately VO seems to read the plugins parameter fine under Mountain Lion.
 Yea!
I just clean installed Mountain Lion and updated to 10.8.5, and the only
program I have is PT11. The reason I'm on Mountain Lion is that the school
 doesn't support Mavericks yet.

 Hi chi,

That's surprising. I only tested PT 11 under Mountain Lion before major work
was done. After that, I only had it running under Mavericks. I do believe
others had tested it under Mountain Lion, however. Are you aware that the
track list table in PT 11 was rewritten so that the show/hide control and
name appeared as separate items, right? You're not seeing anything but
reports of what column and row you're on? That's bizarre.

Has anyone else seen this under Mountain Lion?

Thanks Slau, that's good to know.
I just installed Pro Tools 11.1.2 on Mountain Lion. One thing I noticed
right away is that VoiceOver doesn't read the track list table. It just
says what column and row I'm on instead of the track name.
Do you know if this is Mountain Lion only issue, or it's the same for
 Mavericks?
 Thanks,

 Chi

 Works with Mountain Lion, too.

 Hi All,

Does latest update PT11 work with Mountain Lion, or the accessibility
 fixes only work with Mavericks?
 Thanks,

 Chi
