RE: Heads-up with plugins

2014-12-06 Thread Poppa Bear
I would look at the Gold Bundle if you have a couple hundred to spend, when
it’s on sell you can get it for about $199 and it comes with around 30 plugins,
other than that, I like the API collection, it can be had for about $120
whenever it’s on sell. There are some decent waves sales always going on, but
you also want to have an idea of what you want to expand. Me myself, I would
think about a different compressor, because I find that that is what I use very
little from the PT native plugins. My go to plugin from waves is usually the
API 2500.

OK, try giving these a spin, Christopher and anyone else. In this folder are
presets for three waves Plugins: L1 Ultramaximizer, AudioTrack and TrueVerb. I
assume that you import them by launching the plugin, then in the plugin window
VO Space where it says FXPISettings Command Popup. Then activate the import
settings option and select the relevant plugin subfolder, found in the folder

HOPe it works. Let me know.

OK, try giving these a spin, Christopher and anyone else. In this folder are
presets for three waves Plugins: L1 Ultramaximizer, AudioTrack and TrueVerb.
I assume that you import them by launching the plugin, then in the plugin
window VO Space where it says FXPISettings Command Popup. Then activate the
import settings option and select the relevant plugin subfolder, found in
the folder I’m attaching to this email.

HOPe it works. Let me know.

I second the request for the waves presets. I actually wrote the other day
stating I'd be in the studio this week working on a system which has all of
the waves plugins. I just need someone who may have the presets, as the guy
who works at the studio has agreed to let me look at the plugins myself on
their system, provided I can get the presets from you all to be able to load
up.

Hello David, you should be able to go to the parameter that you would like
to change and then Simply interact with that parameter by using the interact
command which would be VO/Shift/Down arrow and then you could change that
particular setting. As far as the waves presets, there are some people on
this list who have taken a lot hours to compile many presets to a lot of the
waves plugins. Perhaps somebody will care to share them with you along with
the instructions to load them up. The second way is to have sighted help. In
Waves it has its own preset load button and voice over cannot activate it. A
sighted person would have to click on that load button and then make a
selection from the lists of presets and then load it. Once the preset is
loaded you can go to the settings button in the plugin window and click save
and it will be saved in Protools native preset list.

Hi friends, I’ve finally got PT11 up and running. I’m a bit confused when it
comes to using plugins. I’ve inserted a multi channel plugin on track 1.
Depending on the plugin I can see the various presets. Let’s take something
that I assume to be accessible like the 3-7 band EQ that comes
pre-installed. I can select a preset absolutely fine, but I don’t seem to be
able to work out how to see the automation perimeters. I can activate the
plugin automation button and find a list of automatable parameters, but then
I can’t change these. How is this achieved please?

My second question is to do with those plugins that do not have their
presets exposed to VoiceOver. For instance, I can’t choose any presets in
the waves plugins. I believe there is a way of saving a preset file with
sighted help?

Thanks for your help.

2014-12-02 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland
Actually Ricky, that is totally doable. That's why I want someone on the
list who has the waves presets to send them to me. This is my second day
in the studio this week, and I only have a week, so if I am going to look at
these plugs, I'd best do it now while I can.

The studio does! have Ivory, and I did manage to get the presets loaded that
Slau sent me the other day. Once loaded, they actually work really really
well. So therefore, now that I know I could get Ivory working, I'm probably
gonna be buying it here in the next few days. Don't get me wrong. My
Roland RP401R Rosewood digital piano I got from Sweetwater sounds out of
this world amazing, but it would be nice to have a virtual instrument that
could sound just as good, if not better, as I don't always want to record my
piano as an audio track. There may be times I want it as an instrument
track so I can better menipulate it.

Re: Heads-up with plugins

2014-12-02 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland
I know who you're talking about, and frankly, I won't say who his/her name
is either, but I personally think he/she's being way! over paranoid
about it. I understand his/her concern, but for one thing, not that I am
the type for cracking things, if anything, I'm 100% against it, however,
just to see why he/she may be concerned, I went to a torrent site, not to
download it, don't worry, I'm not that stupid/dishonest, but just for shits
and giggles to see if it even was existedly available, and believe me, the
place I went, if they don't have it, no one will, most likely. Anyway, I
found the waves bundle for RTas format... again, I didn't dare download it,
but not for AAX. So, my point is, even if I did! want to crack these
things, which again, I don't, I can't stress that enough, I couldn't! For
one thing, the AAX version isn't even available unless you literally buy it,
which suits me just fine, as I'd be doing it that way in the first place
anyhow! When I told this so called person that I didn't crack software and
that I wasn't even about to go that avenue, but knew someone who worked at a
studio... by the way, not the same person I'm working with now, and they
didn't have all the plugins, no, but they had a fair amount of them, might I
add, totally legally, the person totally disagreed to send the presets to
me, and blaintantly said they didn't believe me when I said that I'd not be
using them with any pirated copy. Since then, they have gotten into a few
heated debates with me. I'd not so much say arguments, as much as just very
heated debates. The person has clamed a few times some other things about
me, which I won't repeat here on list. Nothing really serious, but just
things they found me to be a bit hypocritical about. For this reason, if
they were truely willing to work with me and to truely give me a
break/chance, I'd definitely be willing to give them a second chance, but
the times I've tried reaching out to them for help, though they have given
it, there always has been strings attached. It's always been, I'll help,
but only if you either don't do this, or you do, do that. It's kind of
coming across to me that he/she really doesn't! care to help. At least not
unconditionally.

I know where this list member is coming from. Believe me, I do. I agree
that there are people who would! be dishonest and would! probably get these
presets, then would try using them with cracked software, but it would
frankly take a pretty sick individual to be that conniving! I'm not that
way, and, honestly, it quite offends me that he/she would think of me as
such. I'm not that way.

Alas, if he/she doesn't want to pass them around, then, whatever. I can't
force them to do so, nor will I try to do so. I respect their opinion. I
have no issue with them just stepping up and saying no, I won't give them,
and here's why, but when they instead decide to just lay low, and be quiet,
then when asked, practically almost scream in your face, that's! where I
draw the line! That's very Christian like! Hint hint to the individual.

It seems that the waves preset list has become a little protected around
here. I think that the person who has the largest set was concerned with
people using it with cracked versions of waves. I will see if he wants' to

Thanks for your help Poppa. Great news about being able to export and import
presets. Fear not, Christopher. I’ll happily get some presets to you tonight so
that you can have a look at them in the studio. I’ve saved a few presets for
the L1 Ultramaximiser and TrueVerb. Ideally, we could get our hands on the
presets that are already out there, rather than me having to ask my girlfriend
to go through them all. Are there any plugins you’re particularly keen to have
a look at Christopher? I have the gold bundle, so I can do anything in that.

Obviously I’ll make these available to the entire list.

I also worked out how to do automation. I didn’t realise that you had to
interact with the plugin widnow at the bottom of the screen. Everything is
working perfectly.

2014-12-02 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland

David,

The situation is, firstly, I'll gladly take the presets you can send me, but
here's the deal. I need as many of them as I can get, as I'm not sure which
ones I'll wind up using in the final mix. I've not really played much with
any of the waves stuff. It's therefore hard to say what I'll wind up using.
So at this time, there really are not any particularly that I'm interested
in specifically. The studio I'm going to clames to have all of them. They
clame they spent literally over 2 grand for all of them.

Thanks for your help Poppa. Great news about being able to export and import
presets. Fear not, Christopher. I’ll happily get some presets to you tonight
so that you can have a look at them in the studio. I’ve saved a few presets
for the L1 Ultramaximiser and TrueVerb. Ideally, we could get our hands on
the presets that are already out there, rather than me having to ask my
girlfriend to go through them all. Are there any plugins you’re particularly
keen to have a look at Christopher? I have the gold bundle, so I can do
anything in that.

Obviously I’ll make these available to the entire list.

I also worked out how to do automation. I didn’t realise that you had to
interact with the plugin widnow at the bottom of the screen. Everything is
working perfectly.

We have started a page over at www.protoolswithspeech.com with some of
the presets we've been able to collect, and/or contribute. I would

Hi friends, I’ve finally got PT11 up and running. I’m a bit confused when
it comes to using plugins. I’ve inserted a multi channel plugin on track 1.
Depending on the plugin I can see the various presets. Let’s take something
that I assume to be accessible like the 3-7 band EQ that comes
pre-installed. I can select a preset absolutely fine, but I don’t seem to
be able to work out how to see the automation perimeters. I can activate
the plugin automation button and find a list of automatable parameters, but
then I can’t change these. How is this achieved please?

My second question is to do with those plugins that do not have their
presets exposed to VoiceOver. For instance, I can’t choose any presets in
the waves plugins. I believe there is a way of saving a preset file with
 sighted help?

 Thanks for your help.

Hi David,
Slau would probably be more precise on this but heres what I know.
You half to make a keyboard short cut for each mouse move, IE move down move up

In system preferences go to keyboard then shortcuts then the services tab.
its under the services tab that you put in the short cut key commands.

Good morning all,
We have started a page over at www.protoolswithspeech.com with some of
the presets we've been able to collect, and/or contribute. I would
love to see this page grow considerabley, so anyone who wishes to
share presets with the community at large, can certainly email me a
link and/or attachment if you wish your presets included.
The direct link can be found at:
http://protoolswithspeech.com/plugin-presets

Check back often, as I'm still in the process of uploading and linking
to additional plugs.

Thanks for your help Poppa. Great news about being able to export and
import presets. Fear not, Christopher. I'll happily get some presets
to
you tonight so that you can have a look at them in the studio. I've
saved
a few presets for the L1 Ultramaximiser and TrueVerb. Ideally, we
could
get our hands on the presets that are already out there, rather than
me
having to ask my girlfriend to go through them all. Are there any
plugins
you're particularly keen to have a look at Christopher? I have the
gold

bundle, so I can do anything in that.

Obviously I'll make these available to the entire list.

I also worked out how to do automation. I didn't realise that you had
to
interact with the plugin widnow at the bottom of the screen.
Everything is

working perfectly.

Go to your Documents folder,
find the Pro Tools folder,

Inside the Plug-in Settings folder you'll find sub folders for each plug-in.

Re: Heads-up with plugins

2014-12-02 Thread David Eagle
Hi Slau, I’ve found the TFX files. There all in one Waves folder, even though
there are multiple plugins represented. This is obviously fine for my personal
use, but I was wondering for distribution purposes if it would be better for me
to create subfolders for each plugin, so that people can easily download the
plugin settings that are applicable to them? Would doing this confuse ProTools
when I go to load the plugins?

Regarding Move Mouse: there doesn’t seem to be a ReadMe file in the atachment
I’ve been sent. I get some UNIX file that opens in terminal, and then the four
work flow instalation files.

\f0\b\fs30 \cf0 About MoveMouse
\f1\b0\fs24 \
\pard\pardeftab720
\cf0 \
\pard\pardeftab720\sl340

\f0\fs30 \cf0 MoveMouse was written to solve a very specific problem for the blind. Some developers neglect to label some of their buttons, so VoiceOver can\'92t identify them. \'a0Now assume the blind person knows a sighted person with the same application. \'a0The sighted person could tell the blind person, \'93start at this (good) button and go half an inch to the right and a quarter inch up to find the hidden button\'94. \'a0That\'92s only useful if the blind person could move the cursor by a precise amount. \'a0Enter MoveMouse.
\f1\fs24 \
\pard\pardeftab720
\cf0 \
\pard\pardeftab720\sl340

\f0\fs30 \cf0 MoveMouse is an executable program that calls four OSX Services (which are Automator Workflows). The Four Workflows move the mouse 0.1 left, right, up or down using keystroke combinations. For testing purposes each Service can also invoke a different sound to allow the user to verify that they're moving in the correct direction (available on request).

\f0\b\fs30 \cf0 Installing MoveMouse Services
\f1\b0\fs24 \
\pard\pardeftab720
\cf0 \
\pard\pardeftab720\sl340

\f0\fs30 \cf0 1. Unzip the Distribution zip file.
\f1\fs24 \
\pard\pardeftab720
\cf0 \
\pard\pardeftab720\sl340

\f0\fs30 \cf0 2. This will create a subdirectory, called \'93MoveMouseDistribution\'94 with two items: MoveMouse and a folder called FourWorkflows.
\f1\fs24 \
\pard\pardeftab720
\cf0 \
\pard\pardeftab720\sl340

\f0\fs30 \cf0 3. Move MoveMouse to \'a0your Applications Folder. (Make sure you put it in /Applications, not the user level Applications.)
\f1\fs24 \
\pard\pardeftab720
\cf0 \
\pard\pardeftab720\sl340

\f0\fs30 \cf0 4. Next we need to open your (hidden) user Library folder. \'a0Open a new Finder window or tab.
\f1\fs24 \

\f0\fs30 Under the Go menu, navigate to Computer and press the Option key. The menu item will change to Library. While holding down the Option key, press the Control key and press the Space Bar. The Finder window will now display the hidden Library folder. Open the Services folder within the user Library folder.
\f1\fs24 \
\pard\pardeftab720
\cf0 \
\pard\pardeftab720\sl340

\f0\fs30 \cf0 5. Now open the FourWorkflows folder. \'a0Copy and paste all four of the workflows into the Services folder we just opened in the previous step.
\f1\fs24 \
\pard\pardeftab720
\cf0 \
\pard\pardeftab720\sl340

\f0\fs30 \cf0 6. You should now be able to use the four workflows. In all of your applications and the Finder, if you click on the name of the application in the menubar and pull down to Services, you should now see the four workflows MoveMouseUp, Down, Right, and Left.
\f1\fs24 \
\pard\pardeftab720
\cf0 \
\pard\pardeftab720\sl340

\f0\fs30 \cf0 7. You can test them right now. \'a0As you invoke each of them you should hear four different sounds indicating that the workflow is moving the cursor 0.1 up, down, right, or left.
\f1\fs24 \
\pard\pardeftab720
\cf0 \
\pard\pardeftab720\sl340

\f0\fs30 \cf0 8. If MoveMouse works for you - skip to step 9. If not, read on. Because MoveMouse is an executable that you just downloaded from the Internet, depending on your security setting, Mac OS X may not let you just run it. To bypass this security feature (because you trust US, don\'92t you?), navigate to the Applications folder in your Finder window. Locate \'91MoveMouse\'92 in the list of applications. Right-click on the file name and select \'91Open\'92. A dialog box should appear, saying \'93\'91MoveMouse\'92 is from an unidentified developer. Are you sure you want to open it?\'94. \'a0Click \'91Open\'92 to allow Mac OS X to always run this application.
\f1\fs24 \
\pard\pardeftab720
\cf0 \
\pard\pardeftab720\sl340

\f0\fs30 \cf0 9. If you'd like to use keystrokes to invoke the four workflows, open System Preferences, Keyboard, Shortcuts. In the left pane, click on Services and scroll down in the right pane until you find the four services (MoveMouseUp, etc).
\f1\fs24 \

Hello David, you should be able to go to the parameter that you would like
to change and then Simply interact with that parameter by using the interact

Hello Christopher, I think that presets can be a good starting point, but you
really want to know how the plugs work or the presets can become a crutch. I
only tell you this from experience, not as a criticism. It wasn't until the
last few years that I really started to dial in software parameters and now I
can see that my mixes have grown substantially. I look back at stuff I
recorded 8 years ago and can hear how I threw away some songs because I had
 depended on presets too much.

stating I'd be in the studio this week working on a system which has all of
the waves plugins. I just need someone who may have the presets, as the guy

Hello David, you should be able to go to the parameter that you would like

OK, try giving these a spin, Christopher and anyone else. In this folder are
presets for three waves Plugins: L1 Ultramaximizer, AudioTrack and TrueVerb. I
assume that you import them by launching the plugin, then in the plugin window
VO Space where it says FXPISettings Command Popup. Then activate the import
settings option and select the relevant plugin subfolder, found in the folder
I’m attaching to this email.

HOPe it works. Let me know.

Does anyone know if that preset list is transferable?if it would be we could
get a group together by the presets have someone to load them and use that
transferable list. I guess that would be not possible just wishful thinking.
