Did anyone notice the wheelchair participants in the dance skit from London
during the closing ceremony?

One girl got up from the chair walked toward the bus, climbed on, gyrated on
the scenery, climbed down, walked back to the chair and sat down.

Before you get upset, remember, it was an x-ray tech and not even a
radiologist or a Dr. that told you there was water around your heart. It is
normal for many people to have some water in the sack that encloses the heart.
I believe it is called the peritoneum.
Techs aren't suppose to discuss what they think they see because they aren't
trained to read an X-ray. The EKG would be the tool that would spot that as a
problem, anyway. If you feel OK then just see if your Dr. thinks you should
have an EKG on file as a baseline, and mention your concern.
I didn't want to poo poo everyone else's diagnoses, but I've had the same thing
happen. I hope yours turns out to be the same. I mean, I hope your heart is
fine. Don't underestimate bad gas. It can put pressure on your heart, too.

Best Wishes,
john

I'm sorry about the interruption but this sounds serious. I agree with Dianna
that water around the heart and pressure in the area sounds like congestive
heart failure. Whether or not it resulted from quad, a cardiologist should be
able to remove the fluid. If there's concern about the physician knowing
nothing about quad maybe the primary physician could refer you to someone who
knows. Might have to do a lot of googling to find a qualified physician in your
area. www.webmd.com might be helpful.

One of the things in the report from the techs was that there was some water
around the heart. It was not related to my UTI and they said it was no big
deal. But for some time now when I lay totally flat, my breathing feels weird.
I can’t really describe it right, kind of like it’s heavy, but not like
when it’s pneumonia. It sometimes feels like it groans, then feels better. If
I sit up a little, it goes away. I’m going to go see my primary, but he knows
nothing of quads. I’ll ask for another x-ray so they can compare them to see
if it is worse. And ask if I should see someone about it. It’s not bad
feeling, kind of like lightly tight muscles. It might just be my abdomen area
muscles tightening a bit from my muscles stretching when laying flat. Or
irritated from the SP cath. It’s just hard=2
0to pin point the exact area and feeling.

It doesn't sound like a quad problem to me but rather a heart problem. Those
are the symptoms my dad gets when he's having problems. He'll sleep in a
recliner because it gets to the point where he can't breathe. (Laying down)Talk
to your primary, he SHOULD have you see a heart specialist. It sounds like
congenital heart failure and I don't see why they would say it's no big deal.
It could stem from weak lungs. I'm not a specialist but I lost my mom in 06 to
emphyzema her heart would do this from lung complications my father has
heart problems so I know what he does. Water on his heart has been a big
problem. They might start you out with water pills.

[QUAD-L] New Permobil

2008-08-26 Thread Tim Syfert
Got a new Permobil 350 yesterday. Nice chair. I like the fact I can do both
tilt and recline. I know it will take a few days to get use to it but what a
smooth ride it has. My old Quickie I felt every darn bump in it.

[QUAD-L] Advice for Those with New or Long Term SCIs

2008-08-26 Thread Steve Oldaker
Given the wealth of experience within this discussion forum, I wish to pose
another question. What bits of wisdom would you pass along to someone with a
new SCI or even someone with a long term injury? Here's mine:

1. Hope and pray each day that you will recover and/or be cured of your
injury, but move forward and live each day as though you will not.

2. Be good to and patient with those who provide your care. You may need
them more them you may ever realize and their willingness to assist you is
vital, especially if they are not being paid.

3. Don't limit yourself because of your injury. Many people with SCIs are
able to complete college or other training programs, obtain jobs, etc.

Looking forward to your responses.

Steve

[QUAD-L] SP on Thursday

2008-08-26 Thread Tim Syfert
Well, after two cancelled schedules for a supra pubic, for different reasons,
I'm scheduled again to get it done in two days (Thurs.). It looks like a go
this time. It will be done in a hospita because the Doc will be putting me
under to bust up a kidney stone with a laser. Unfortunately it can't be done by
shock wave because my spleen is enlarged and in the way of the shockwave path.

Re: [QUAD-L] FW: MSNBC LIVE VOTE

2008-08-26 Thread Tod E. Santee
My guess is the vote to remove In God We Trust from currency was never
falling far to the Yes, Remove it side if these polls are snapshot of what
MNBC readers are thinking at the time. This apparently urgent Fwd: has been
going around for more than a week! (That's not a snapshot... that's a feature
length film!)

It's more likely someone thought they could overwhelmingly show a desire to
keep God in our Lives by passing on this message and link to all Christians
you know whether they read MSNBC's site or not. After all, you can't get the
results to see if your opinion is winning (yet) unless you cast a vote first.
Duh?

Perhaps, very early on, one side was slightly ahead and someone wanted to boost
their side. Most athiests I know could care less about the slogan and where
it's printed and very few religions truly reject the belief of a god (or
several of them). Unless, maybe those radical Hindus are fighting for In Gods
We Trust.

Either way, they got over 7,540,000 votes (total). 79-21% in favor of keeping
it.

Best regards, Friends!

I'm not really sure why you would limit this to only Christians. It seems

 Just my two cents.

PS to me it would seem like only atheists and possibly some people trying to
maintain the separation of church and state would argue about this, but I
could be wrong. Actually I probably am mistaken, but that's the way I take
 it.
