[QUAD-L] turtleneck
Does anyone wear turtlenecks for warmth? I have been wearing them for years, but had someone knit one from yarn and what a difference. It is like wearing a scarf. Glenn
[QUAD-L] getting into a non-accessible house. should I try a manual wheelchair?
I have been invited to a family event, but the houses not wheelchair accessible. The person hosting the party has offered to rent or build a ramp, but I am wondering if it would be simpler and easier and safer to use a standard nonpowered wheelchair. There are three or four concrete steps leading up to the front door. While I was in rehab, I watched them train individuals bring a person in a wheelchair up a flight of steps by themselves. At this event, there will be at least a half a dozen man who could lend a hand. Have you ever used a standard wheelchair to get into a non-accessible house? My power wheelchair weighs about 600 pounds with me in it, and I just wonder if it would be easier to simply let relatives push me around for the day. Thanks so much, Dave Krehbiel
Re: [QUAD-L] getting into a non-accessible house. should I try a manual wheelchair?
I have done both ways...In a manual chair it is easy for a person to get you up or down stairs, they just have to tilt the chair back with the person in it facing away from the steps and simply lift up or down one step at a time--when they have you tilted back it is pretty easy just like moving a box or something with a 2 wheeled dolly. My son in law made a ramp to fit my power chair into his home, I believe he just used thick plywood about the size of the door opening to get up the stairs then he moved it up to the door for me to get in the one big step going into the house.Good Luck, Dan H. [QUAD-L] Poop again...of course.
Question: Any of you peeps use or tried Miralax? Does it help, is it reliable? Any accidents? Time to vent -- had my pain pill prescription filled yesterday, 90 pills. The price? Almost $1200! I just about fell out. There are a few words for this, none of which are adequate. Immoral, unethical, sinful, greedy, vile, heartless, disgusting, and a long list that I shall not say. My nexium is nearly as bad. I canceled it. What in God's name are people supposed to do? Sent from my iPad

Larry, what type of pain pills are they?? don't you have any type of medicare or insurance at all? If you do- then you need a plan that will help more with the type meds you need? nobody can pay that kind of money for meds. Talk to your doctor and see if you can get a generic drug. I have found the generic work just as well. It is funny now but when I was on Nexium for a very short while and it made me very itchy. It was very embarrassing, everything itched even my eyebrows. Rose In a message dated 1/30/2015 8:35:03 P.M. [QUAD-L] Disabled camps
Does anybody know of camps for the disabled in up-state New York, the Adirondacks? Places where you would sleep in a cabin and the entire place is wheelchair accessible?Bobbie Smile Everyday

I have insurance, thank goodness. But my part was nearly $200. A poor boy can't stand that either. Re: [QUAD-L] quadriplegic remote control
I use my windows 8 notebook from bed with the program IRCommand2 with the USB-UIRT to operate the smart tv, dvr and blu-ray. For changing channels I find it easiest to use my cable provider's web page Xfinity. Do you have an ipad or iphone? you can control it with one or two switches. You need one of these http://ndipat.org/blog/ipad-bluetooth-switch-interfaces-4-great-choices-for-hands-free-control-2/ next to control ir devices you need this http://www.logitech.com/en-us/product/harmony-smart-control?crid=60 On Wed, Jan 28, 2015 at 9:35 AM, HOSNI AL-KHATIB hosnialkha...@hotmail.com wrote: *Hi My Friends* *I Want To Ask You,What Kind Of Remote Controls You Use For TV,And Which One Is The Best.* *I Need A Remote To Use It When I’m In Bed,To Change Channels With A Click By My Head.* *Thank You *

I agree with Danny. If it isn't too steep, I use a sheet of thick plywood. I have even lowered my lift on the steps and bridged it with plywood. Are you sure you weigh that much? My chair weighs 150-200 lbs and I'm about 150. Good luck and be careful.
