I was just looking on the product page for the Squeezebox Radio, and I found this: "Your Logitech® Squeezebox Radio fits easily just about anywhere in your homethe kitchen, bedroom, -*bathroom*-, even the patiowithout taking up a lot of counter space." So I guess Logitech doesn't have any problem with me using it in the bathroom :-) Lynn -- lgrant98001 lgrant98001's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=21907 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79102 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Preview next alarms
Your suggestion sounds like a good one. Why not ask for an enhancement at bugzilla. They probably would not get to it right away, depending on how big the code changes needed, but it would be good to plant the seed for the future. Go to http://bugs.slimdevices.com /enter_bug.cgi?product=SB%20Radio Under Component, choose Alarm. Under Severity, choose Enhancement. In Description, just cut and past what you wrote here which was very clear, and then encourage people to vote for it. I would certainly vote for it and I think others would too. It seems like such a sensible idea. -- mpower9 mpower9's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=33930 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=78941 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] I am getting totally fed up!
I have the radio since christmas, and my first user experience was: Switching it on, and failure to connect to mysqueezebox.com. Image you gave your new toy, and it's completely useless at all. Well, for me, this condition lasted for full 2days. I was close to pack up all up and return it to Amazon. Then came the server and firmware updates. Which first solved something and then broke it afterwards. I started to read the forums , got involved in the technical concept and tweak my way around. Just because I like doing things like this. I have a new toy, and there's not way I couldn't control it. I even bought one radio for a good friend of mine, who just enjoys music and needs a good alarm clock. She's very patient somehow. Every now and then I ask her if she's still happy with it. She says "Yes, the alarm clock even managed to wake me up this morning ...". But as someone pointed out earlier - one shouldn't have to dig THAT deep into the inner workings just to hear music and to wake up in the morning. I wouldn't do this for my washing machine, for my car .. heck, for of my other household appliances. I image people calling Logitech hotline, and I'm almost sure they get no real help, because the whole concept is so flaky and the knowledge level in this forum is much, much higher then any call-center supporter. I now have my own server, and I'm happy again. But the amazon review I wrote should warn all the other people to be aware of what could come. Quite biased in my opinion. I want to like this product a lot. The design is first class, the sound is great and the handling aswell. If it weren't for the unreliability ... then it could be heaven. The squeezebox concept is quite old, maybe it's time to design it from the ground up. But this won't happend for sure. Maybe a new generation will come one day that breake with the old concepts. Wow. I'm glad I opted for a Boom for our bedroom and didn't get a Radio to replace my wife's alarm clock. I have to agree that it's a pretty poor showing that a feature like this can't be made to work reliably. No, it's not a core feature, but it's certainly not a hidden feature. If this can't be made to work in the advertised environment (mysb.com), then it shouldn't be a supported feature at all. -- maggior Rich - Setup: 2 SB3s, 4 Booms, 1 Duet, 1 Receiver, 1 Touch. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] I am getting totally fed up!
Certainly Logitech is not the only one on the marketing hype. I bought a Samsung BD-P1600 blu-ray player over Christmas. Terrible piece of hardware. Junk. Junk. Junk. I believed the advertising about Netflix, Youtube, etc being able to be accessed and played through the player. The player freezes, quits, advertised functions don't work, etc. Too late to return it. So I have to live with it. Maybe a firmware update will fix it (though a previous firmware update actually ruined some players)Who knows. If it doesn't,I will know not to give Samsung any more of my money. I blogged about it...and that's the end of it. You can read reviews, read customer feedback, etc..it still requires a bit of faith to buy something. Every once in awhile we get burned. (I have a whole other story about a Sony 400 cd player, replaced four times and ended up in the garage as junk) I am sorry to hear about the problems people are having with the radio. It is tarring the image of a product line that had an excellent reputation. I HOPE Logitech gets the problem fixed and works to repair the damaged image of Squeezebox products. -- brucegrr brucegrr's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3964 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=78256 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to just have a thread(sticky?)where folks can simply list stations that no longer work. I'll add one to the list...WJR(Detroit). I had no problem with it on both my WIFI radios(Boom, and M-Wavio)in the past, now it works on neither one. There are several stations that have recently stopped working. Thank you Brucegrr, Erland, Bluegaspode, PeterW and MPower for injecting the right blend of understanding and pragmatism into this discussion. There's no question Logitech has screwed up this product, and there's equally no question that ad nauseum complaining won't help them fix it any faster. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] SqueezeBox Radio battery kit avalible
Thanks to all who posted here to guide me through building the battery pack. I ordered the $5.99 connector/thermistor and a 2300 mAh pack from all-battery.com ($15.99), as suggested, and wired it up. I soldered rather than crimped, since I have better luck with that, and I think it was no more difficult, maybe easier. I decided not to include the intermediate taps into the battery. I slit the plastic wrap around the battery pack and slid the thermistor down inside so it sits sandwiched in the middle, but probably doesn't have tight thermal contact with any of the cells. I packed some foam around the battery pack so it wouldn't rattle around in the hard plastic compartment when plugged in. I worried at first that this might not allow it to stay cool, but then again, maybe this is fine - the thermistor should stop the charge sooner, if anything. I have lots of experience doing this kind of thing, but it shouldn't be that hard for a determined builder. The hardest thing is working with the small parts and wires. I have now used it for about 3 weeks and have discharged the pack a couple times. I measured 9 to 10 hours of radio operation at mid volume the first time, and it seemed about the same for subsequent uses. So far so good. I really like being able to move it around, bring it with me to the backyard campfire and take music requests from friends for Pandora, etc. -- edllew edllew's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35403 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75056 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] "error: no items in playlist"
To play the Clear Channel stations the Radio needs an URL which provides an AAC stream. RadioTime provides the database of URLs for the Internet Radio Search menu. Curently RadioTime provides a correct AAC URL when Radio is connected to a local SBS but does not provide an AAC URL when connected to MySB.com. So the problem is with the MySB.com request to RadioTime and not the Radio. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=78689 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
