They do sound great on either side of the bed in the bedroom, but the
inability to link power state means I rarely set them as a stereo pair.

on, blasting the Arctic Monkeys. 'Twas quite an adrenaline rush, I tell

has turned itself on, but this is the first time it's happened with this
one. There are no alarms set on either of these Radios. Does this happen

Definitely a problem with the line-in plug connection. If I jiggle it
just right I lose all audio, but no amount of jiggling will play the
right channel. Sent a support ticket in (after waiting 20 minutes on
hold for phone support before hanging up). I had a problem with the
power cord on this same Radio.

[SlimDevices: Radio] Line in only plays left channel

2012-05-30 Thread MeSue

I just discovered that my black Radio is only playing the left channel
(mono) when using the line-in input. My white Radio plays both channels
merged through the line-in, as it should. I checked the player settings
for audio in LMS and it is set to play both channels. I still need to
check if it's just the line-in or all sources, but my husband is using
it right now. He has already tried different cords.

Is there anything else I should check before I open a ticket with
Logitech support? This is the Radio I received for beta testing so don't
even know if they will do anything for me.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I keep a remote by the pool in a ziplock bag, which can be used to
resume playing, but not if it goes to deep sleep. What happens a lot is
that my husband will come out to talk to me--he pauses the music, then
leaves without putting it back on. If it has been long enough to turn
off, I have to get out just to turn it on again. Maybe I need to find
myself a long stick to push da butan. :-)

I voted and added a comment to the bug, and I would be interested in any
workaround you come up with, TerDale, if you get time. This power save
is an annoyance when we use the Squeezebox near the pool cuz someone has
to get out of the pool to turn it back on when it goes to deep sleep.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Permanent sleep function?

2011-12-27 Thread MeSue

Not a huge shortcut, but you can add the sleep option to the home menu
and then it's less steps to get to it. Browse to the option you want to
add and then press the + button and you can choose to put it on the home
menu. This was added pretty recently so if you are using an older server
version you may need to update to get this.

Another shortcut would be to use a remote that has a sleep button.

[SlimDevices: Radio] Connect to mysqueezebox.com

2011-12-23 Thread MeSue

I was getting ready to take my black SB Radio to show my maw-in-law. She
is mega-technophobic so I wanted to make it as simple as possible for
her. I was planning to connect to mysb.com before heading there
tomorrow and get things set up for the demo in advance. When I go to
"Connect to mysqueezebox.com, though, I just get the bump animation and
it doesn't do anything. I seem recall having this problem before with
this Radio and never figured it out.

On my white Radio (newer) it connects just fine. I can also connect the
black Radio to mysb.com using iPeng, so I have plenty of workarounds. If
I can't figure out the problem with the black Radio tonight I will just
bring the white one to show her. I just would prefer to bring the black
one because it already has more wear.

Anyone have any quickie suggestions short of factory reset? I'll do a
reset when I get home if nothing else works, but I don't want to deal
with it tonight when we are leaving in 11 hours.

I dunno. The one I got in the black Friday sale had a little charge to
it out of the package... maybe 1/3. Being the low discharge type I
think they last a good while without being charged...?

I asked during beta testing and was told they used the low-discharge
kind of rechargeables in the battery pack.

If I had to guess I'd say most of the infrequent battery users live in
colder climates.

I usually take mine outside every day when I let my dog out in the
afternoon. Let my neighbors hear something besides country for a bit.
;) I also use it on battery when I shower since there's no power outlet
on that side of the bathroom.

[SlimDevices: Radio] RadioIO Pricing

2011-12-08 Thread MeSue

I got my first Squeezebox more then 6 years ago, and I just got around
to checking out RadioIO last night. First impression... great stations,
awful commercials! So I checked out their site today to see what prices
were like for ad-free. Does anyone else think their prices are way too
high? The Audiophile subscription is $10 a month for less then 100
stations. Who pays that when you can get Rhapsody, MOG, Slacker, or
Spotify which gives you on-demand music PLUS hundreds of stations and
better streaming quality?

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] "Sync" stuck: radio controls applying to another radio!

2011-12-04 Thread MeSue

A Radio can function as a controller for another Squeezebox as well as a
player. Try looking under Settings > Choose Player to make sure one
Radio is not set as the controller for another player. It sounds to me
like the bedroom player is the selected player under "Choose Player" on
the kitchen Radio.

Just went through all the settings the other day. It is under settings >
Screen > screensavers > delay. Also make sure you have the "when
playing" screensaver set to something other than none.

PS: when you don't want to wait for the screensaver delay, hitting home
again will return you to now playing.

Ah, very interesting... and that would answer the OP's question. My new
Radio should be here tomorrow so I can see if that's what happens.

I have had my other Radio and 2 Booms since before they changed the way
presets were done and except for #1 which is always "Sue Favorites", I
have no clue what each of them has for the other presets.

I thought presets were a per-player setting, so how can it be tied to

If you press and hold the power button, the Radio will completely power

people in the house are getting annoyed by it.

Are you sure it didn't turn off after the sleep timer (were you awake)?
Because it might be that it turned off, but then turned itself back on
later in the night.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Battery is shipping!

2010-03-10 Thread MeSue

Here's a suggestion for those that don't think they'll use the extra
remote... especially if your radio's "home base" is in a bathroom. I
have mine plugged in at one end of the bathroom, but it's not near the
"throne" because there's not a plug there. I keep the remote within
reach of the throne for those times when you ...ummm... end up staying
in there a little longer than expected, you can have some tunes! :o

The Radio will go into a full power off state after (I think) one hour
of no use when it's on battery. Then it takes longer to turn it on.

What I do is keep mine plugged in where there is an outlet. When I
shower, I unplug and move it near the shower where there is no outlet,
then move it back to the plug after I finish in the bathroom.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] synch problems with the SB Radio?

2010-02-06 Thread MeSue

I have 2 Booms, a Radio and a Touch that I usually keep sync'd all the
time. Most of the time I play them one at a time and keep them sync'd to
keep the playlist the same as I go from room to room, but often I have
issues with sync when adding the Radio or Touch into the mix.

My feeling, after having dealt with it for several months now, is that
the problems usually occur when I have one or more of the Booms playing
first and then turn on a Radio or Touch. If the Radio or Touch is
playing and then I turn on the Booms after them, I don't have a problem.
It hasn't been consistent enough for me to file a bug report on this
yet, so it would be good to hear if others find the same thing.

It should accelerate as you spin faster and longer. Or you can go
backwards from A. It will bump the first time, but if you keep spinning
the knob it will push through.

Or take a shortcut through the Genre list if you know what genre the
thing you want is under.

Or install Erland's Custom browse which will allow you to configure an
extra menu level for dividing the list by first letters A-Z.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the two in your first post, but agree with aubuti that

I installed 7.4.1 today and saw the new NP screen like in JJZolx post

top and bottoms, especially when it results in a chopped off head.

By the way, have you checked out Erland's custom clock screensaver?

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Radio use as bedside radio/alarm

2009-10-09 Thread MeSue

It goes very dim in a dark room. If you turn the knob or touch any
buttons, it will light up so you can read the screen and then go back to
dim after a short time.

If you want it completely dark, you can set "off" mode to screen off.
I'm pretty sure that in this case turning the knob would not turn on the
screen. Most likely you will find it gets dim enough with the automatic
light sensor.

I think this part of the instructions is wrong if you have a now
playing list with only one item in it, like a radio station in the case
of the OP. When you only have one item in now playing, there is no way
to get to the now playing "list," so you can't save it as a playlist.
IOW, pressing the knob from now playing when only one item is in the
playlist opens a context menu instead of pushing into the NP list where
the save option resides.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] So what about the red one?

I can't figure out how to grab a direct link to the photo, but from this
site (under "Buy Now" above), when you select the red option on the
product page, it changes the picture to red, and then you can enlarge

very different depending on the lighting.

Beta testers received red ones, but they changed the red color in the
final production units.

When I used it, it seemed like it was always playing the same songs. My
husband felt the same way when he used it. If I want to hear the same
mainstream radio songs over and over, I have FM for that!

Slacker seems more configurable. I can get my Slacker stations tweaked
so that I almost never have to use the skip.

Last.FM I like for recommendations or listening to friends' libraries.

To each his own... I'm glad we have so many options!

The auto-switching between mysb.com and SBS is so new, I don't think
anyone really understands what's normal, and it hasn't been explained
very well from the devs. I keep a server running 24/7 so I rarely
switch, myself--I just use the music services through my SBS. Maybe
that's what's happening with your other players?

Presets - I'm not sure, but I don't think these are synced between
MySB.com and SBS. So if you set a preset while you are connected to
MySB.com, and then switch to your server, it won't be available. I could
be wrong. Like I said, I don't switch often.

Station Suggestions - Nope, I mainly stick with local music, Last.fm,
or Slacker.

Have fun!

Congrats on the new Radio.

Is it connected to mysqueezebox.com?

If you have a local squeezebox server running, it should attempt to
connected to it when you push into My Music.

Yes, that is when this problem started. All my apps were working fine
when I was on betas, and when I updated to the final 7.4, I started
getting this message that my players are registered to another user.

Then last night right before bed, I check the Radio and one Boom, and I

morning they are back to showing the message about being registered to
another user.

I read your post and thought it did sound similar, except that I never
created a separate test account. I only have one squeeze account which I
use for real and for testing.

Yes, I'll let you know if I get it resolved.

Yes, I did factory reset. No change.

Just now I stopped Squeezebox server and then was able to connect my
Touch to mysqueezebox.com and play the Queen songs. However, the player
still does not show as connected on the mysqueezebox.com web site so
it's pretty crippled. I can't enable scrobbling or change any settings.

As for the Absolute Greatest... it was a let-down. I already own all
these songs. I thought this would be something new and different. Does
Queen have more "greatest" compilation albums than any band, or what?

FYI - The Radio doesn't come with a battery pack. It will be a separate
accessory you can buy. Wasn't sure if you understood that since you
asked about buying a spare battery.

It can be wired.

Radio does not have a subwoofer connector.

You might like the Radio better for the bedroom, and then you could put
your Boom in the dining room.

I played it loudly for part of the time. I had it around 80 when I
showered in the morning. Average when I was outside was 60-70. I did put
it up to 90 for a bit. I used it inside for the majority of the time and
volume was between 30-60. It was local music. I need to do another yard
test with internet radio.

It took 6-7 hours to fully charge last night, but it was playing for
part of that time. Not sure if playing while plugged in would slow down
the charging.

The battery is about 1.5 x 2 x 3 inches, going from memory. It's
charging now so I don't want to take it out to measure. As far as the
weight... I am really bad at judging that. It definitely weighs less
than the Boom even with battery and is much easier to carry compared to
the Boom.

[SlimDevices: Radio] Battery and wifi performance of Radio

2009-09-19 Thread MeSue

I'm one of the lucky few non-employee beta testers to have received a
coveted Squeezebox Radio with a battery. I've been testing it out on
battery all day and have been quite impressed.

I started charging it last night around 5:30 PM, and when I checked it
around 10 it was fully charged. (Since I don't know how charged the
battery was on arrtival, I can't be sure of the total charge time from a
fully dead battery. I should know soon though.)

I played it on battery for a total of almost 11 hours between last
night and today before it turned off. I also walked all around my
property testing the wifi signal. This is not your typical
neighboorhood--I think the yard part of our property is about 3/4 an
acre--and I never lost the music even when I got as low as 5% signal
strength.

The only time I did get a drop out on my whole property was when I
walked to the other side of a large metal building. I was expecting a
drop then, but it recovered nicely as soon as I walked back out from
behind the metal building.

I also took it out to another building on our property on the opposite
side of the house from where the router is and it played on just fine
with 40% signal strength.

Also got to test the ambient light sensor in the bedroom last night.
Caleb's not kidding--it can go VERY dim!

And I never dropped it!

I have carried my Boom in and out to the pool for two summers now and
*only* dropped it twice. Both times I caught it against the little
platform where I put it, so there was no serious damage, just a scratch
on the back of one (now mounted in the kitchen), and a slightly dented
grill on the other. :( Actually, both times I dropped it, it was not
while carrying, but when repositioning it to put it up on the platform
where I have to plug it in.

I haven't tried the Radio poolside yet, but I don't think it will be
loud enough to compete with the filter pump and the color screen would
probably be harder to read.

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Amazon movie about "radio": Says I can listen to my music collection "without a PC"?

2009-09-12 Thread MeSue

I can't say anything about the MP3locker service as I've never used it.
For now, if I want to listen to my music without my computer on, I just
tune in to "My Radio Station" via last.fm. It only lets you listen
radio-style (random mix), but that is good enough for me for the rare
times my server is down or I take my Squeezebox on a trip.

If Logitech could get together with Lala.com it would be awesome. Lala
lets you match up your local music to the music in their library so you
can stream it via the web. If you want something on lala that doesn't
match up, you can upload it, but I just use the matching because my
upload speed is so slow.

You can vote on the enhancement request for lala integration here:

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Amazon movie about "radio": Says I can listen to my music collection "without a PC"?

2009-09-11 Thread MeSue

The Radio works pretty much just like the Duet. If you already run a
Squeezebox server for your local MP3s, the Radio can use that. For those
that prefer not to have a computer on all the time there is
SqueezeNetwork (changing name to mysqueezebox.com) for Internet radio
and music services. One of the services is MP3locker, which allows you
to upload your ripped CDs and still listen to them without a computer
on.

To answer your question #2, yes. Any Squeezebox can play separate music
or they can be synchronized to play all the same music.

Hope that helps!
