"a product that they may not even have in order to sell you another product instead." I feel that the radio+battery is the product they advertised but did not have. They got me to switch to just radio (with their trickery about the battery being available March 2010 - still on the Canadian website). It is the "moral equivalent" if not the legal equivalent of bait and switch. -- albright albright's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35256 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75056 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] SqueezeBox Radio battery kit avalible
Maybe we're just arguing semantics ... but As I see it Logitech Canada advertised this neat product: radio + battery pack. Great. I go to the store to buy it. Battery not quite ready I'm told. I don't want to go away empty handed so I buy the radio. Now Logitech Canada reveals they never did and never will sell the product, radio + battery, for which I went to their store in the first place. Why does this not meet your own definition of "bait and switch"? -- albright albright's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35256 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75056 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] SqueezeBox Radio battery kit avalible
The Canadian Logitech website states that the battery pack will be available March 2010. It does not state that in fact Logitech will not sell the battery in Canada *at all*. That is clearly false advertising. I think it falls under "bait and switch" as well which is to advertise a product as possessing various features that, after the purchaser is committed, turn out not to exist. That is pretty much exactly what happened in Canada. -- albright albright's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35256 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75056 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

no - in my notebook if the batteries are detected at below 90% capacity they start to charge; if above 90% the battery does not begin to charge So if you took your SBR to the patio for half an hour and the batteries got down to 92% they would not charge when plugged in The next time you go to the patio the battery goes down to, say, 82%. I think you are right that the changes are not finalized. Even the correct feeds are somewhat intermittent (the annoying message referred to above mentions possible outages). AFAIK, modern batteries have no memory effect and deteriorate whether used or not (maybe you can extend their shelf life by keeping them half charged in the refrigerator). I hope/expect that the circuitry will let the battery drop to 90% or so before initiating a recharge (that's how my laptop works) so we won't get too many recharges (that will kill the battery). -- albright albright's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35256 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=68100 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Although I like the SBR it seems it does not work properly for me. I have the feeling that this thing was released a little before it was ready. Here is my setup. I have a home network with a desktop (call it X) computer running gentoo linux as my router, dhcp server etc. Plus several computers on the network (linux, macs, windows). The SBR has no trouble seeing the libraries of all the computers on the network except for X. When I go to X's squeezebox server settings page I get the "Your player has not been found" message and in the information tab it reports zero players found. But on the main page of squeezebox server the squeezebox radio appears in the drop down list of players under "choose player" but I cannot actually choose it (nothing happens at all). The strangest thing of all is that last night it was working perfectly with computer X !!?? I turned off the SBR and moved it and since then I am having the problems described above. Actually, it was worse than that. To get the SBR to connect to ANY squeezebox server in the network I had to restore factory settings. (Does that happen every time you unplug it?) Any advice would be appreciated. -- albright albright's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=35256 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=73046 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
