and when the red version will be available to order in the UK please?
It's not showing as an option on the Logitech or Amazon stores over
here.

Thanks,

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Release date for Squeezebox Radio? Europe?

2009-10-01 Thread testmatch

Thanks Steve, but presumably that's only gone to people who have
pre-ordered from the US sites? In the UK, we can't even pre-order from
the Logitech site. When we try we just get a box to register our
interest in the Radio.

Amazon UK will let us pre-order, but they have no stock and no idea
when they will.

Neither site indicates that the red version exists or that there will
be a battery pack.

The same is true in several other European Logitech online stores.

Hence this thread asking when it'll get this side of the water. :o)

John

[SlimDevices: Radio] Red Radio - appearance and availability

2009-10-09 Thread testmatch

Hi,

Can anyone with a red radio comment on how it compares to the Logitech
black products (e.g. Boom) when it comes to showing the dust and
fingerprints? If the red one appears in the Logitech UK store this month
I think I want to get that as I suspect it should look neater and more
cheerful. The black of the Boom does seem look grubby easily (I sound
like my mother here!). I can only find one picture of the red before the
US site bounces me out to select a retailer.

Or is the red one intended to be a US-only product?

Also, when will the battery be available please? I really want to keep
the radio in the bathroom, so the battery operation (given the building
regulations in the UK) is crucial.

Thanks,

John

Thanks for your help. It's good to know the red exists - it seems to be
the one I want! I hope there's some information about this on the UK
site soon. I fear a $40 battery will translate to £40 though - as it
does for most of the accessories available over here. The fact that the
UK site mentions bathroom operation encourages me slightly. However the
lack of anything about the battery or red colour, and the mentions of
Rhapsody and Pandora (which we can't use) and a "color" display, make me
fear that the site hasn't been properly localised and is just a slightly
modified copy and paste from the US site.

Despite registering my interest as soon as the Radio and Touch appeared
on the site, I've had no information apart from a confirmation email.
Hopefully things will improve after tomorrow when they expect to get
their new email system working!

Regards,

John

Wonderful - many thanks. The mix of English and Dutch is fabulous.
There must be a word for the Dutch/English equivalent of Franglais or
Spanglish... :o)

It's amazing they are selling the red and also mention a Euro price for
the battery while the Logitech sites in Europe have no information
whatsoever about these products. I'll hang on a while and see if the red
appears in the UK, but have bookmarked their delightfully entertaining
page. :o)

Well it hasn't appeared on the Logitech UK store, and ordering the
battery still produces the error others have reported. At the end of
last week I decided to order a black radio with the 20% discount code
that expired on Saturday. It's on the way to me from Utrecht. Having
spent the weekend in Brussels, it has now arrived in England and should
be with me tomorrow. Thanks for all the comments - I'd have liked the
red one, but not enough to forgo the £30 discount!

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Is the RED radio a "limited Edition"?

2009-11-02 Thread testmatch

Hi,

I'm not Logitech, but they have said several times here that it is
indeed "limited" in the senses that they won't be making as many red as
black, and to expect to have to search for them. That's confirmed by the
fact that they are only in their US online store - which will not sell
to people in Europe or many other places outside the US. Those of us in
other countries have to search for the few dealers advertising them. So
far we've found one in the Netherlands with stock, and one in the UK
advertising pre-orders.

John - who bought a black because of the poor supply of red.

[SlimDevices: Radio] Radio won't connect to channel 13

2009-11-03 Thread testmatch

Hi,

My radio has just come, and I immediately have a problem with the
wireless connection. I run my wireless network on channel 13 as that's
pretty clear from interference caused by the neighbours. However my
radio won't see channel 13, and I can't find a way to configure it to
use "Europe" as the wireless location. That's always been possible with
my Duet, SB2, SB3 and Boom. The radio lets me set the language and
timezone, but appears not to use European wireless channels.

Have I missed a menu entry somewhere? It didn't ask me about this when
going through the initial setup, and it's going to be a real pain if I
can't run it in a reasonably clear part of the spectrum here.

Or have I got a US-only model that I should return for replacement?

I'll contact Logitech UK in the hope they can sort it, but wondered if
anyone else here has seen this and (most importantly) been able to
resolve it.

Thanks,

John

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Radio won't connect to channel 13

2009-11-03 Thread testmatch

Answering my own question here, but I've just talked to a very helpful
Logitech lady who got me to do a factory reset and stayed on the line
while I reset my access point and entered all the details into the radio
again. The result is that I'm now up and running on channel 13.

I don't know how my radio came to be "stuck" in a channel 1-11 mode,
but it's fine now.

I hope it is coming, James, but as far as I can see it's disappeared
from all Logitech sites apart from the US one - and of course we can
only order from our own national site. Mind you, when there was a page
for it on the UK site, it gave an error when we tried to pre-order, and
the "find a local dealer" button claimed that a UK postcode wasn't a
valid zipcode! It's hard to have any confidence in any of the Logitech
sites at the moment. It seems that orders get through despite the online
shops - rather than because of them!

I'm hoping the battery re-appears very soon, as I really want that. I'm
also hoping that my pre-order for the Touch doesn't get cancelled as I
put it through before the 20% discount code expired at the end of last
month.

The current dire state of Logitech's online shops doesn't give me much
hope though!

I get that behaviour when I set my wireless access point to channel 13
to take advantage of a gap the neighbours aren't occupying with their
networks. Sometimes it stays connected for days, but then simply won't
see the network. Other times it drops off the network after a few
minutes. However if I change to a different wireless channel (I'm
currently on channel 3) it's fine.

How does that compare with your experience? Are your radio's problems
also dependent on the wireless channel?

I see that

now states "Product available March 31, 2010." and the US site carries

Same here in all cases. I'm pleasantly surprised as I only ordered it

Thanks Felix,

However as Hofstede has reported his Radio remote also exhibits this
behaviour, I can confirm that mine does too. I'm in the UK and received
it this morning. It identifies itself as M/N:X-1A3, PID:WD843XM,
P/N:815-39 - exactly the same as my Boom remote - and will only
adjust the volume by one or two increments per press. That makes muting
it from the remote (e.g. while in the shower) a somewhat lengthy
process!

Should we return the remote for replacement by the correct one? Or will
the bug be re-opened and fixed?

I certainly hope we don't have to return the complete pack with
battery, having waited five months to be able to buy it!

Thanks,

John

It won't charge when totally off - see

linked from http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=75635 here.
That says that:

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] WiFi not working on Channels 12-14

2011-03-16 Thread testmatch

Hi,

There's a couple of threads here with some information on this as well.
I talked to myself in
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70888 and forgot to come
back with the extra information that it stopped connecting after three
days and won't go back. I did subsequently hijack
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=74406 though.

So my experience (while nowhere near as thorough as yours) is the same.
The Radio can be coaxed into connecting to channel 13, but after a few
days simply stops seeing the network.

Consequently I have to avoid 13 in my regular game of wi-fi channel
battleships with the neighbours.

Perhaps my Radio is superstitious? :)
