Cleaning out the garage. Before I eBay these, I thought I'd put them up here. Anyone getting ready for spring and long bike rides? PM for pics. 1) Baggins Banana Seat Bag $65 If you're here, you know about these bags. Lots of beausage on this one. 2) Acorn Med Seat Bag in tan. Great condition $75 Great condition. Near new. This one is actually between a medium and large. It holds a lot. 3) Acorn Small Handle Bar Bag in Black. $70 I don’t see this one offered on their website anymore. I never did use this one. This could also work as a saddle bag if you have the proper loops on your saddle. 4) TA Cyclotouriste Crank set with 46/30 chainrings & TA pedal washers. 175 mm crank arm length. $175. Fits standard threaded pedals. Beautiful, classic design. VO is kinda making new versions of these. These are no longer made and difficult to find. This was purchased about a year ago from old, new stock. They have been used for about 100 miles and show some chain shift scratches on the inside of the larger chain ring. Otherwise, they still shine. No wear on the teeth can be seen. I swapped this out for a triple, so I no longer need this set. 5) TA Axix steel BB, Italian thread, 116 mm width. Only 100 miles use. It was used for the above mentioned crank set. $50 Shipping to lower 48 US states is included. Open to offers, if I'm asking too much for some of this. If you're at the hardware store getting the washers as shown in the Riv video, also get some star washers if they have them. I used them in place of the lock washer as they seem to hold better. Riv mentions that the gray plastic washer is a weak link, would be metal in a perfect world, but it ain't gonna happen so the alternate washer kit is a work around. It works. dougP On Mar 5, 4:11 pm, Minh wrote: > Are you talking about the little grey disks? these are a known > limitation of the silvers shifters, they're great but not perfect. > rivendell has a kit, but i think you can also piece together your own > kit at the hardware store, here's the video that shows what you're > looking forhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FO_6CoVjnvo > > i wish they were metal (i have a set of suntour cyclones that are like > this), but then again my sprint shifters w/ plastic washers are still > holding together after 10 years, and your's broke after it fell, just > saying ;) > > On Mar 5, 5:23 pm, Justin August wrote: > > > > > Took out the Bleriot with Hetres for a spin and while hanging out > > reading a book it fell over and now one of my compression washers is > > cracked. Are you talking about the little grey disks? these are a known limitation of the silvers shifters, they're great but not perfect. rivendell has a kit, but i think you can also piece together your own kit at the hardware store, here's the video that shows what you're looking for http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FO_6CoVjnvo i wish they were metal (i have a set of suntour cyclones that are like this), but then again my sprint shifters w/ plastic washers are still holding together after 10 years, and your's broke after it fell, just saying ;) On Mar 5, 5:23 pm, Justin August wrote: > Took out the Bleriot with Hetres for a spin and while hanging out > reading a book it fell over and now one of my compression washers is > cracked. [RBW] Re: New Sam Auction Color
newenglandbike says: It doesn't seem like a guarantee that the SH will get that color. the post says: "It's a color we're considering for something, and wanted to see it on a bike, so had Wford make the bike, paint it thusly". William retorts: I was reading this part of the post where Grant says "It is better in real life than it is here, and too good to use only on this bike, so if you buy this one you'll be the first, but not the last." I read 'bike' to mean 'instantiation of the Sam Hillborne'. Clearly newenglandbike reads 'bike' to mean 'model'. I now see it from that perspective, thanks. [RBW] Re: New Sam Auction Color
Another opinion - am 6' with an 89cm pbh and ride a 56cm fist generation Sam Hillborne. That was after a lot of discussion and worry on my part. Photo of bike from last summer - http://tinyurl.com/6f2bbnc On the new generation of Hillborne bikes, I could (and probably would) ride a 60cm frame. Have test ridden one and it works. Quite well, in fact. For comparison, was recently able to straddle a Hillborne from the same time period as mine. Wow, that was a big bike. Could barely reach the bars as it was setup. Would probably need a 60mm stem to be comfortable. Maybe even a 50. Do happen to like the look of this latest Hillborne, but the color seems awfully close to Surly's "Utility Blue" from a couple of years ago. Not a bad thing. Just very similar to my eyes. If you want one of these grab it quickly.
