Greetings all.
does anybody have Rivendell 4 and Jack working together on Ubuntu 20.04?
I tried this guide: http://wiki.rivendellaudio.org/index.php/Jack
but got lost about the beginning .
is there an easier way?

2021-01-29 Thread jorge soto
Hi Drew,
nothing fancy. I start RdAirplay with Session and Startup on Ubuntu.
in Configure RDAirPlay i checked Restart Log After Unclean Shutdown and
load specified log %m/%d/%Y
Legal ID at top of the hour is a hard time, make next event. and the clock
has other hard time, make next events. Works fine on Rivendell 2.19
but on 3.5 lhe events don't start playing.

[RDD] restart after power failure

2021-01-28 Thread jorge soto
I have a machine running rivendell 2.19. I have hard timed events and time
sync events on the log. whenever there is a reboot rivendell starts, loads
the log and the time sync or the hard timed events fire and the log starts
at the correct time.

i installed rivendell 3.5 on another machine and what works on 2.19 doesn't
work on
3.5. Did something change?

I tried both ways, with a brand new database and importing the database
from 2.19, neither works. the hard time/time sync events do bring the log
to the correct time but it doesnt start playing.

Ok, got it all working now, Thank you Tim and Fred. Only one problem, I
need pulseaudio and jack, which are working fine, but Rivendell does not
work because it's running as root. I have seen several posts with this
problem but the solutions given are not working for me, (maybe because they
are for earlier versions of Rivendell?) How do i make Rivendell 3.x run as
a normal user, not root?

Maybe some scammers are bundling Rivendell with their malware. It be nice
if he could post the website where he downloaded the software.

Re: [RDD] 2.19.2 on linux mint 17.2

2018-04-24 Thread jorge soto
Distro is based on Trusty Tahr.
Anyway, I decided to repartion the drive, reinstall linux and install
Rivendell from source (2.19.2), now I can import audio fine. It plays fine
on RdLibrary, Rdcatch, RDPanel and RdCartSlots but, when I load it onto
RDAirplay and hit the Start Button, it causes the whole system to crash.
Tried loading RDAirplay through terminal with the same result.

I have two linux mint systems, both were running Rivendell

Re: [RDD] Logs

2018-04-14 Thread jorge soto
Per Fred from a post from 2008:

Click the 'Reports' button on the Edit Log screen in RDLogEdit, select 'Log
Listing', then click 'Generate' to produce a log listing. By default, the
system will use 'vi' to display that on Linux, or 'notepad' on Windows, but
that can be overridden by setting up the $VISUAL variable in your environment
to point to the editor of your choice ('kwrite' being a popular one on
Linux).

Re: [RDD] Password error

2018-04-01 Thread jorge soto
Are you having trouble the first time you run rdadmin to create the
rivendell database for the first time? That is the same problem im facing.

On Apr 1, 2018 8:44 AM, "Mike Carroll" wrote:

To expand on what Steve said:

"root" is a CentOS user id; you use this to do system maintenance. You
created the password for this during the system setup part of the Appliance

"rd" is a CentOS user id; this is the userid you normally run with. I
believe this is set up during the system part of the install, and defaults
to no password. The only time this is really an issue is if you have a
screensaver set up that requires CentOS user id and password to get back in.

"root" is a MySQL user id; you use this to do database maintenance. You
created the password for this during the database setup part of the install.

"rduser" is a MySQL user id; Rivendell uses this to do database queries.
The password for this is set in rd.conf and defaults to "letmein".

"admin" is a Rivendell user id; you use this to do maintenance using
RDAdmin. This is set up in the default Rivendell install and defaults to
no password. Change the password using "Manage Users" in RDAdmin.

"user" is a Rivendell user id; this is the user id you normally run
Rivendell with. It was also set up in the install, has no password, and is
managed in RDAdmin.

IIRC, Rivendell access control is undergoing some changes, so my comments
there might be out of date.

No. I use Rivendell with jack. If i set jack at 44.1k songs play at the

[RDD] Chain To, Rdcatch

2017-09-16 Thread jorge soto
Hope some one else had these problems and found a way to resolve them. I
compiled Rivendell V2.16.0 on Ubuntu 16.04. When I generate a log, even
though I have Insert CHAIN TO at log end checked, nothing gets inserted.

When I try running RDCatch nothing happens. I start Rdcatch, click ADD and
proceed to add the desired event, click OK and rdcatch just closes, nothing
gets added. If I start rdcatch from terminal I get the following:

invalid SQL or failed DB connection[Field 'STATION_NAME' doesn't have a
default value QMYSQL3: Unable to execute query]: insert into RECORDINGS set
ID=1
Database connection failed: insert into RECORDINGS set ID=1
Database connection restored.

thank you in advance.

[RDD] autoload applications

2016-06-03 Thread jorge soto
I'm trying to get a few applications to autoload sequentially on startup
on ubuntu 14 but it works very erratically. Here is what I have scripted:

#!/bin/bash

/usr/bin/qjackctl &

sleep 25;

/home/jorge/scripts/xmitt-processor.sh &

sleep 30;

/usr/bin/rdairplay &

sleep 15;

/usr/bin/butt &

sleep 10;

exit 0

the xmit-processor.sh is a script to load calf-plugin presets but this is
the part of the main script the fails most of the time. Everything loads
fine but calf does not. Any ideas? Or if some one has a working script that
is willing to share?
thanx.

Re: [RDD] voicetrack help

2016-05-01 Thread jorge soto
I do click record and recording does begin, but the second start button
still remains unclickable. When I am done recording and want to move the
tracks around, only the top track moves freely, the voicetrack and the
bottom track move as if they were only one track.

QT_MOC=/usr/bin/moc

I even tried this in the .bashrc file

export PATH=$PATH:$QTDIR/bin

Running 2.7.0 from source on ubuntu 10.04, when I drag and drop a cart in

it gets duplicate at the drop position.

There is no executable, you downloaded the raw source code. You have to
actually compile the code in order to make and install the executables.

In an effort to save money/paper, there is software that allows you to
submit production orders without having to print them. They get date/time
stamped so that no one can say "I turned it on time!" Inaboxonline is an
example of this type of software, there are many others. I just want to
know if someone knows of a free/opensource one.

I am having some odd experiences between two machine that I've built rivendell
from scratch on.  On one, rivendell rdairplay will play through the sounds
system just fine.  On a laptop with (also with AC'97 hardware), I can get the
system preferences Sound "hardware test" to play "left speaker" and "right
speaker" samples, but rdairplay, plays nothing.  On the laptop, I've tried to
install Jack for use there, so that we could do some other things with audio
streams.  Using ALSA support is very frustrating in concert with pulse audio
because the device comes and goes from appearance in the system preferences due
to the "one user of the device at a time" business.

Does anyone have a favorite web page with a check list for ALSA and Jack audio
setup that might help me walk through the issues I need to look at to resolve
where my audio problem is at on the laptop?

If you are adventurous, it might be better to compile it yourself, it's no
really that hard if you know how to follow a few instructions, and the current
version can play mp3's if you prefer.

 Here are some instructions
  http://www.talkunafraid.co.uk/2011/06/rivendell-2-0-2-on-ubuntu-10-04-2-lts/

or this one.  I have followed both and they work fine.

Re: [RDD] RDLogedit and Multiple Copies of a Log

I think there was something similar to this on the Deltaflex traffic system.
When someone tried to access the log and someone was already logged in it would
warn the new user about it.

Subject: Re: [RDD] RDLogedit and Multiple Copies of a Log

Nothing was decided on, afaik (other than "It's damn difficult!").

However, I don't think there'd be any issue with displaying current
editors using the following (and this is just how I'd do it as a system):

We have a table of edit flags. Each flag has a host ID, user ID, log ID
and a timestamp, plus a version number which is by default zero if no
other flags exist, otherwise the value of the greatest existing flag for
this log ID. There is also an 'open' boolean field.

* Open log inserts new editing flag in a table. Check the flags table
and warn the user if an open flag already exists for this log ID.
* Upon saving, flags table is checked- if any open flags exist for this
log ID, someone else is currently editing this log. Display a warning
message before saving, allow user to abort. If any closed flags exist
with a larger version number than the currently open version, warn
loudly, since this -will- overwrite someone else's changes
* If the user saves, set the version number to the current version
number plus one, set the flag 'open' field to false, and save the flag,
then save the log.

Similar behaviour can encompass all the UI buttons in rdairplay
(add/del/move buttons just go through the open->save motions as above).

The timestamps would let a maintainence job cull all flags older than,
say, a week to avoid a pileup. This system should let people
intelligently notice when collisions might occur, warn people _before_
they do an overwrite of a log edit, but would never block users in the
event of flags not being un-set properly etc. It'd be a massive
improvement on the current system, but not massively complex to
implement (assuming you speak C!).

Anyone see any big glaring holes in this one?

Cheers,
James Harrison
