FW: [RollTideFan] Hello Bama fans

2005-07-20 Thread Tim Boozer

Don't worry 'bout me being left out. I'll make my presence known!!!

To start off with, DAMN RIGHT PLAYOFFS ARE FOR PUSSIES!!! Win it when you
got the chance or stop whining about it I say. Why give a second chance?
Second chances are for pussies!!!

Mrs. Smut is still under the impression that she might be the recipient of a
pair of tickets fer that first game. As long as I keep her thinking that, I
can get away with hell.

By the way, what the hell is the decision about RTF vs. BamaFan (Google)? My
mailbox is all filled up with all these double e-mailings. My feeling is
since RTF is serving customers right now as fast as Pat on a street corner,
we stick with RTF.

Wear a cup beyatch!

RE: [RollTideFan] Hello Bama fans

Re: [RollTideFan] ADMIN Notice For RollTideFan

2005-07-14 Thread Tim Boozer
I can TOTALLY understand why Mike is a little pissed. In my opinion he has put
a lot of time and apparently some amount of HIS OWN money into this and
basically all he has gotten in return is bitching and moaning. Hell, I'd be
more than a little pissed if I were in his shoes.

I don't personally understand all the differences between a service and a
server, but I think I get the basic idea. I think I like the idea of a server
better where we run our own service and make our ouw rules, but, to be honest
it doesn't make that much of a difference to me.

I don't know what the answer is, but I know that the guy that made this forum
possible deserves a big "thank you" and he just got one from me.

Now, maybe we could discuss this issue with some civility, but since this is
RTF, I doubt that. That's OK, the tagline used to say "wear a cup" and that
still applies. That's what we like about this place anyways.

If RTF dies, long live RTF!

That's my $0.02

RE: [RollTideFan] Thoughts?

2005-07-08 Thread Tim Boozer
I agree with Slef, except that I think Witt will look at the "overall
progress and direction of the team" for the past two season's including the
upcoming season. The W/L won't really come into play unless some L's come
due to repeated poor coaching decisions, etc.

Close doesn't cut it at Bama, but Bama has never had to play with such
restrictions either.

That's better! Make it a habit.

In my not so humble opinion, Witt only starts looking at
Shula's wins and losses beginning with the upcoming
season. The results of the last two seasons will have no
bearing on Shula's future.

He grabbed girl's arm -- now he's a sex offender

July 1, 2005

BY STEVE PATTERSON Staff Reporter

Fitzroy Barnaby said he had to swerve to avoid hitting the 14-year-old Des
Plaines girl who walked in front of his car.

She said he yelled, "Come here, little girl," before getting out of his car
and grabbing her by the arm.

He said he simply lectured her.

She said she broke free and ran, fearful of what he'd do next.

In a Thursday ruling, the Appellate Court of Illinois said the 28-year-old
Evanston man must register as a sex offender.

While acknowledging it might be "unfair for [Barnaby] to suffer the
stigmatization of being labeled a sex offender when his crime was not
sexually motivated," the court said his actions are the type that are "often
a precursor" to a child being abducted or molested.

Though Barnaby was acquitted of attempted kidnapping and child abduction
charges stemming from the November 2002 incident, he was convicted of
unlawful restraint of a minor -- which is a sex offense.

'Most stupid ruling'

Now, he will have to tell local police where he lives and won't be able to
live near a park or school.

"This is the most stupid ruling the appellate court has rendered in years,"
said Barnaby's Chicago attorney, Frederick Cohn. "If you see a 15-year-old
beating up your 8-year-old and you grab that kid's hand and are found guilty
of unlawful restraint, do you now have to register as a sex offender?"

But Cook County state's attorney spokesman Tom Stanton said Barnaby should
have to register "because of the proclivity of offenders who restrain
children to also commit sex acts or other crimes against them."

In the criminal case against him, Cook County Judge Patrick Morse said that
"it's more likely than not" Barnaby planned only "to chastise the girl" when
he grabbed her, but "I can't read his mind."

"I don't really see the purpose of registration in this case. I really
don't," Morse said. "But I feel that I am constrained by the statute."

Recognizing the stigma that comes with being labeled as a sex offender, the
appellate court said "it is [Barnaby's] actions which have caused him to be
stigmatized, not the courts."

SWEDEN LEGALIZES LOOKING UP LADIES SKIRTS!

By MARK MILLER

ADDING to its reputation as the most sexually liberal nation in the world,
Sweden has just legalized looking up ladies' skirts!

In a nearly unanimous vote in the Swedish Parliament, the motion was carried
332 to 17. To celebrate the new law, the Parliament's second floor was
replaced with a see-through glass floor, and women were invited to stand on
the floor, wearing their loosest, widest skirts, with or without underwear.
Men were invited to bring their cameras, stand on the floor below and look
up.

"I was fully aroused for the next three weeks," gushes male viewer, Tor
Lundgren, 24.

The women standing above the men were no less enthusiastic. "It was even
more exciting than I'd imagined," reveals Christina Schollin, 32. "I chose
to wear no underwear, and, well, I just felt this electric thrill run
through me as the men stared up at me. I may just leave my underwear home
from now on."

Lutheran minister Gunnar Bjoernstrand, 40, has made peace with the new law.
"It was just a question of time before it became legalized. And, really,
something harmless like this should not be a crime. Sex and the body are
beautiful, natural things.

"When we appreciate and adore the body by looking up ladies' skirts, we are,
to a certain degree, giving thanks to the creations of God, who after all
made us in His image."

RE: [RollTideFan] BSC Article

2005-06-28 Thread Tim Boozer
I want to go on record here assaying that I am 100% AGAINST a playoff
system. It is astounding to me that college football fans, who turn their
collective backs on other sport's seasons as being "boring" want to make the
college football season just like those that they do not like.

The NFL season is boring because all that matters is getting into the
playoffs, therefore, the playoffs is where the excitement lies. The college
basketball season is generally 2 months old before any of us even notice.
Hockey is dead, and guess what, they have one of the most extensive playoffs
anywhere.

A playoff is clearly NOT the ONLY thing that will solve the problem. A
"play-in" would solve the problem. Example: Keep the BCS the way it is. In a
season where there is a clear-cut 1 vs 2, which seems to happen about half
the time, everything is fine and everyone is happy. In a season like last
season, the booger eaters at #3 would play the Sooners at #2 in Oklahoma,
the weekend before Christmas, winner goes to the national championship game
vs USC, loser to the #3 spot in the BCS system. If there were 4 undefeateds
ranked 1 through 4 in the BCS final standing, then this weekend before
Christmas would have two games.

I like this system because it is on an "as-needed" basis and preserves the
integrity of the season. Any 8, 10 or 16 team playoff pretty much guarantees
that a team with 1-loss will still have a chance at a national championship.
A 2-loss team can easily make an 8 or 10 team playoff, that is a complete
joke.

The as-needed play-in system means that from the very beginning of the
season, every game is do-or die, just the way it is now and that is what I
and I think most college football fans love. It is not a game that gives a
second chance after a loss the way every single other sport does. It's not a
sport for pussies, let's keep it that way.

I just don't really look at it as running whoever is going to appeal to a
certain group just to maintain, or regain, power. I think GW Bush chose
Cheney for his knowledge and leadership, not for the 3 electoral votes he
could deliver from Montana, or the dry, cool-headed, monotone constituency.

I've long been impressed by Senator Shelby and I saw him interviewed this
morning and the thought struck me from the interview that he could be
considering a run. However, in recent times, senators have not had a good
track record of getting elected President, and even though by that point
Condi will have spent 8 years in Washington, she is primarily known as an
academician, not a beltway insider. I think she could add to the ticket, but
I'm also biased by the fact that she is also from Alabama and the
"all-Alabama" ticket thing is intriguing. But my original post wasn't about
Condi, or at least it wasn't meant to be, it was meant to be about Shelby.

My opinion is that if Roy Moore ran, it would be giving the election away.
I, personally, would have a hard time voting for him from what I've seen.

RE: [RollTideFan] where's all y'all?

2005-05-20 Thread Tim Boozer

It's really no big deal.

When they try to get uppity, I remind them of the '99 season when a piece of
shit coach named Dubose beat their superstar Coach Superior twice in a
single season. They like to ask me "Have you ever been to a game at the
Swamp, the Swamp is so awesome, blah blah blah" I answer, "Yea, I watched
Bama beat the Gators in that hellhole in '99, it wasn't very imposing at
all."

God, I hope we beat those bastards again this year.

That's where you are mistaken. My tickets come to me, then if and only if
my heart feels kind and giving, then I just MIGHT turn and mail some scraps
to the ticket holder to which you refer.

I left the whole bundle with the aforementioned ticket holder last year to
cut back on my chances of getting halfway there and realizing that I had
left my tickets in Flarda.

Looks like someone sent you a viral infection, you could open the
attachment, infect your computer, then spread your demon seed though the
newsgroup, but considering your relationship with Pat, you're probably doing
that already anyway.

RE: [RollTideFan] Daniel Moore

2005-03-23 Thread Tim Boozer
The problem isn't just Moore. If he has to pay, then that removes the
incentive for others to do the art in the first place and we and the
University suffer. We suffer by not having such cool artwork to choose from,
the University suffers by not having our artwork around the nation and our
image therefore suffers.

Many years ago, I was touring some of the skyboxes at Doak Campbell stadium,
home of the Criminoles, and just as you walked into one of the boxes, on
your left was a large print artwork of Coach Bryant wearing his classic
"elephant stepping through the A" hat. That is "goodwill" for the
University. If the University has it's way, that artist may not have even
bother to do the artwork in the first place because the University would
have to get it's cut.

It doesn't matter anyway, they will lose, Moore will win, this has already
been argued in the Tiger Woods case and Tiger lost. The University will come
away looking like shit and that will be that.

PS: It doesn't bother me what he charges for prints, he does because he can.
He does limited edition prints and people are willing to pay to have a copy.
Free marketplace.

RE: [RollTideFan] My last damn post on the subject I swear

2005-03-21 Thread Tim Boozer
Pat,

If this man had not waited so long to come out with the story about her
saying she wished to die in a state like this he would have more
credibility. If he had not been trying everything he could since 1994 to
make sure that she did not receive treatment, then he would have more
credibility.

I just don't believe that all avenues have been explored for her treatment.
I have heard conflicting stories on whether an MRI has ever been performed
on her, but both CNN and Fox were reporting last night that it had not. Even
though it's been 15 years, because this guy has gone to such lengths to make
sure she has not received treatment, this seems like a "rush to judgment."
If she could eat without a feeding tube, then I feel that his would not be
an issue at all. People would not be willing to withhold food from her, but
are willing to "pull the plug" or tube in this case. She may be able to eat
without a feeding tube if her husband would allow treatment.

Finally, if this is being done for "humane" reasons, then she should be
killed in a humane way. Dehydration is not humane.

I understand your situation with your mother-in-law and sympathize with you,
but I just feel the situations are quite different.

2005-03-20 Thread Tim Boozer
Richard, I don't see where what you or anyone else would want done to
themselves has anything to do with it at all. From a legal standpoint, you
have to disconnect from personal feelings. I think the courts have made an
enormous mistake in allowing the husband's testimony to stand as an absolute
truth. The man's story has been fluid and cannot be trusted.

All of us are currently living in a terminal condition. Go to the doctor and
ask him/her, I guarantee you that your current condition is terminal, just
like Terri's. Her life is not expected to be any shorter than anyone else's
as long as she is allowed access to food and water. We have no idea what the
future of medical technology holds, but she will not have access to anything
if she is dead. We also don't know the financial condition of her parents
but even if they were members of the Bill Gates family it would make no
difference because the husband WILL NOT ALLOW treatment. He has that right
as the guardian. It is not a question of money, it is that he is not
allowing it.

I don't remember anybody ever insinuating that he had relations with other
women prior to her going into this state. Maybe it's in that essay
somewhere, but even if it is, it is not material to the subject. It makes no
difference.

I also don't totally understand this idea that people are politicizing this
for their agenda. I just don't buy into that. I know a lot of people from
all across the political spectrum and their opinions on this subject
definitely do not fall along red state/blue state lines. I just don't see it
at all.

Whether there are "holes" in this essay or not is not the question. It was
apparently written by a guy who shares your opinion, but he has brought up a
lot of interesting points and it was presented here for that purpose only.

I just simply never want to err on a side that is irreversable and there is
nothing more irreversable than death. If a court wrongly convicts and
imprisons an innocent person, then his time in jail can never be returned to
him, but his freedom henceforth can. There are a lot of questions that need
to be answered, and what it boils down to in my opinion, is that due to the
actions of the husband, we cannot trust his word, therefore we have to make
assumptions. As I said earlier, I would never assume something that is
irreversible.

I find it hard to believe that O.J. Simpson is a free man, but he is.

The problem is that we are taking his word that her wishes were to die.
Also, since he is the legal guardian, he is the person who has made such an
effort to keep her from having treatment. With treatment, there is a strong
possibility that she would not need the feeding tube, she would be able to
eat normally, but he won't let that happen.

My point is that if we cannot trust his word, and I don't believe we can,
then we have to make assumptions. If we have to make assumptions, then we
should not assume the irreversible path of death.

If she is killed through starvation, and a medical breakthrough happens in
the future that would allow her to regain communication, then she will not
benefit because she will be dead, but if he is responsible for her current
condition, he will benefit from her death.

not a life, it’s not living. Brain cells do not regenerate, once they die,
they are gone for good. Terri will never recover from this. We have heard
reports of a woman who, after a head injury, was in a coma for 20 years,
then suddenly woke up. At times, her condition was very much like Terri’s
with apparent moments of consciousness but she was not there. One day she
just came out of it and now lives a normal life. The difference is that half
her brain did not die, but rather was in shock for all that time. In Terri
Schiavo’s case, the brain cells are dead and will never work again. What the
world needs to know now is what part Michael Schiavo played in Terri’s
condition, if any.

RE: [RollTideFan] Double Sad News Day InFlorida...[Fwd:FNCAlert](non-Bama)

2005-03-19 Thread Tim Boozer
Pat, I understand what you are saying and I think a lot of people's opinions
do boil down to what they would want done to themselves. For the record I
WOULD want to be kept alive. But more than that, I would want every single
thing done from a therapy standpoint, even experimental, to help me regain
my ability to communicate.

That is where most people with my viewpoint have a problem with this
situation.

It is my understanding that Michael Shiavo never mentioned this alleged
conversation that he says he had with Terri (where she said she would not
want to be kept alive in this situation) until seven years after her
incapacitation and after he had won approx $1 million in a malpractice suit.
He has refused to allow therapy for her. Most doctors, even those that say
she cannot recover from this state, agree that she could eat and drink on
her own with proper therapy, but her husband will not allow it. He will not
allow speech therapy, he will not allow a TV to be turned on in her room.
Many people who have recovered from comas say that the TV helped them to
maintain a level of communication with the outside world and helped them to
pull themselves out of the condition. Terri is not in a coma and doctors say
that nobody has ever recovered from her state. Well, 15 years ago, none of
us had ever sent an e-mail either. Technology changes. The cure to her
condition could be the next breakthrough, but her husband is doing
everything he can to make sure she is not around to benefit from it.

Due to her husband's actions, I feel that his story that she expressed a
wish to die can only be treated as hearsay. He is not reliable. She did not
express her wishes on paper, there are people who are ready willing and able
to take care of her. If we (society) err here, we should err on the side
that is not irreversible and that is to allow her to live.

I agree with the legislation in the Florida legislature that would say that
if a person does not have a living well or has not expressed their desire to
die in writing, then every effort should be made towards rehabilitation. If
nothing else, this would get a lot of people thinking about a living will
for themselves and could avoid this situation in the future.

Finally if this judge is going to rule that she should be killed, then she
should at least be killed in a humane and proactive way.
Starvation/dehydration will be extremely painful for her. This judge should
grow a set of balls and rule that she should die by lethal injection. If he
wants to be "humane" and stop her suffering why is he ensuring that she
suffer in her final days? He is despicable.

Mike - I had not heard about this till I read your post. I just got home.
This is sick and it apparently took place about 60 miles from my house. I
really hoped this girl would turn up somehow. I just don't get it.

You're right, Judge Greer, George Felos, and Michael Shiavo will someday
have to answer for their deeds, but none of that helps Terri today. If she
expressed a wish to die in this situation, why did it take him so long to
come forward with that information? It doesn't hurt anyone for her to be
allowed to live, why kill her?

Judge Says Calif. Can't Ban Gay Marriage

By LISA LEFF, Associated Press Writer

SAN FRANCISCO - A judge ruled Monday that California's ban on gay marriage
is unconstitutional — a legal milestone that, if upheld on appeal, would
open the way for the most populous state to follow Massachusetts in allowing
same-sex couples to wed.

Judge Richard Kramer of San Francisco County's trial-level Superior Court
likened the ban to laws requiring racial segregation in schools, and said
there appears to be "no rational purpose" for denying marriage to gay
couples.

The ruling came in response to lawsuits filed by the city of San Francisco
and a dozen gay couples a year ago after the California Supreme Court halted
a four-week same-sex marriage spree started by Mayor Gavin Newsom.

The opinion had been eagerly awaited because of San Francisco's historical
role as a gay rights battleground.

Gay marriage supporters hailed the ruling as a historic development akin to
the 1948 state Supreme Court decision that made California the first state
to legalize interracial marriage.

"Today's ruling is an important step toward a more fair and just California
that rejects discrimination and affirms family values for all California
families," San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera said.

At issue were a 1977 law that defined marriage as "a personal relation
arising out of a civil contract between a man and a woman," and a
voter-approved measure in 2000 that amended the law to say more explicitly:
"Only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in
California."

The state maintained that tradition dictates that marriage should be limited
to opposite-sex couples. Attorney General Bill Lockyer also cited the
state's domestic-partners law as evidence that California does not
discriminate against gays.

But Kramer rejected that argument, citing Brown v. Board of Education — the
landmark U.S. Supreme Court (news - web sites) decision that struck down
segregated schools.

"The idea that marriage-like rights without marriage is adequate smacks of a
concept long rejected by the courts — separate but equal," the judge wrote.

It could be months or years before the state actually sanctions same-sex
marriage, if ever.

Robert Tyler, an attorney with the conservative Alliance Defense Fund, said
the group would appeal. And Lockyer has said in the past that he expected
the matter eventually would have to be settled by the California Supreme
Court.

Last winter, nearly 4,000 gay couples got married after Newsom instructed
the city to issue them licenses. The California Supreme Court later declared
those marriages void, saying the mayor overstepped his authority. But the
court did not address the underlying issue of whether the law against gay
marriage violates the California Constitution.

Two bills now before the California Legislature would put a constitutional
amendment banning same-sex marriage on the November ballot. If California
voters approve such an amendment, as those in 13 other states did last year,
that would put the issue out of the control of lawmakers and the courts.

The decision is the latest development in a national debate that has been
raging since 2003, when the highest court in Massachusetts decided that
denying gay couples the right to wed was unconstitutional.

In the wake of the Massachusetts ruling, gay rights advocates filed lawsuits
seeking to strike down traditional marriage laws in several other states.
Opponents responded by proposing state and federal constitutional amendments
banning gay marriage.

Around the country, Kramer is the fourth trial court judge in recent months
to decide that the right to marry and its benefits must be extended to
same-sex couples.

Two Washington state judges, ruling last summer in separate cases, held that
prohibiting same-sex marriage violates that state's constitution, and on
Feb. 4, a New York City judge ruled in favor of five gay couples who had
been denied marriage licenses by the city.

Just as many judges have gone the other way in recent months, however,
refusing to accept the argument that keeping gays from marrying violates
their civil rights.

California has the highest percentage of same-sex partners in the nation,
and its Legislature has gone further than any other in providing gay couples
the benefits of marriage without being forced to do so by court order.

RE: [RollTideFan] SO HELP ME GOD

2005-03-01 Thread Tim Boozer

Apparently the pressing matter is to remove existing monuments, etc. and
apparently it is quite pressing if you follow the antics of the ACLU, etc.

I guess this is just a case of "what's good for the goose is good for the
gander" whatever a gander is.

I'm offended when someone burns the American flag on federal property, but
the Supreme Court says that is a protected form of speech. Why should it
matter then that others are offended by a religious symbol? The first
amendment states:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech,
or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to
petition the government for a redress of grievances."

Nowhere does it say that a religious symbol on government property is to be
construed as a establishing a religion. It is, however, RECOGNIZING the free
expression of religion. If it bothers enough people, then they have the
right to peaceable assemble to petition the government for a redress of
grievances. People who support the symbol have the same right, and all the
people have the right to request the local/state/federal government to put
to vote a referendum to determine if the majority of the people feel that
their grievances have been properly addressed.

Nowhere does it state that anybody has the right not to be offended.
