2004-12-08 Thread David S Osborne
This information is provided by Mercola.com, the world's most visited and
trusted natural health website. You can keep current on all the exciting
new natural health news by subscribing to the free weekly health
newsletter at Mercola.com.

FDA is Virtually Incapable of Protecting You From Unsafe Drugs

Most people are familiar with the scrupulous claims against the FDA's
inability to protect Americans from unsafe drugs. It has been an issue
flooding the headlines of newspapers and the nightly news for the past
few months.
Accusations against the FDA started when Merck was pulled Vioxx from the
market in 2004. Apparently the FDA had been aware of the drug's adverse
side effects as early as 1999. Since Vioxx's removal, other drugs have
been placed under the microscope and the agency's credibility has been
questioned. One FDA drug safety reviewer, Dr. David Graham, told a
Congressional panel that federal drug regulators were virtually
incapable of protecting America.
Previously Approved Drugs in Question
Crestor (cholesterol-lowering drug): Causes acute kidney failure
Bextra (painkiller): Increases risk of heart attack in those undergoing
cardiac surgery and may also cause a fatal skin reaction
Meridia (weight-loss pill): Causes substantial increases in blood
pressure and has been associated with 124 reports of serious
cardiovascular problems
Serevent (asthma medication): Increases risk of asthma-related deaths and
life-threatening episodes
Accutane (acne drug): Causes birth defects
The director of the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research opposed
Graham's accusations; arguing Graham's findings and numbers constitute
junk science and were nonetheless irresponsible. The director
continued on by stating that all of the agency's decisions and drugs are
not only safe but also effective.
New York Times November 19, 2004

Dr. Mercola's Comment:
As it so vividly obvious, conventional medicine is entering a terminal
phase. That is why it is so important to take a stance now.
For the past few months I have been seeing seven new patients every day
that see me from all over the country. Many have very serious diseases
and are on multiple medications. In nearly every case we are able to
develop a plan to help wean them off of all their medications and become
symptom free.
This is not an ad for my clinic, as there are many outstanding natural
medicine clinicians that can provide similar services. The point is to
get you off these dangerous medications before they kill you and seek
competent professional help if you require that. The Vioxx scandal is a
perfect example. Tens of thousands of people needlessly died so that
Merck could make a few billion extra dollars.
Conventional healthcare slowly but surely progressed into a nasty
disease; which now is at a rapid progression towards death. This
disease is caused by:
Rampant conflict of interest
Tainted research and greed
Lying and cheating by the morally bankrupt drug industry
Inept federal and state regulators
Unfortunately, one of the most prominent article on this site is Doctors
are the Third Leading Cause of Death. Well that article was written in
2000 and (based on a variety of newer references) doctors are in fact the
LEADING cause of death in this country. Not heart disease, not cancer --
doctors.
In all fairness, doctors themselves are not to blame for all of this. The
entire modern health care system, however, is to blame for allowing, even
promoting, so many unnecessary procedures, DRUGS and mishaps. This
illustrates precisely why the system is so desperately in need of change,
and why facilitating this change is, and will continue to be, such a
substantial portion of my vision.
You can eliminate your need for drugs with these two factors -- monitor
the foods you put into your body and address your emotional well being.
These factors have absolutely everything to do with building your immune
system and avoiding unnecessary pharmaceuticals.
This is no quick fix, but rather is a lifestyle change that will be
well worth the effort. To fully understand the details of these factors,
I highly recommend getting my Total Health Program, as this book will
allow you to realize the action needed to set you free from the
pill-taking life and give you ultimate control of your health.

Hi, Ode,

I didn't write much about the polarization of the light
scattered by the Tyndall Effect. It may just be a
curiousity. On the other hand, it may be a way to
break apart TE into a concentration factor and a
particle size factor.

If you view the TE with a polaroid film (e.g. polaroid
sunglasses) a vertical laser beam and a horizontal
laser beam may appear quite different, even though
they are generated by the same laser pointer.
This is what optical theory predicts. I haven't tried it
because I don't own any polaroid sunglasses.

Probably so, but irridescence by eye depends on broad spectrum light to
be split up into colors and lasers don't have it.
I doubt 'I' could see the pattern better with a laser. [Hey, I'll try it]
Magnifying glass maybe.
Two different colored lasers probably could do a bang up job so long as

Hi, Ode,

An 1/8 floatie can produce a very good reflection of
the beam of a laser pointer. Even if interference is
not noticeable to the naked eye (i.e. iridescence)
it may be measureable using a laser pointer at
various glancing angles. At glancing angles there
should be optical polarization effects too.
Incidentally, I think the Tyndall Effect scattering
of light produces polarized light too.

Sure Jim,
Australia still has the best medical structure in the world, despite its
many holes, but the US Pharmamed cartel is wearing it down.
We have a subsidised medical service with two tiers: PRIVATE in which
people can pay insurance for better facilities (theoretically not better
treatment...) like own choice of Doctor, private room, elective surgery
etc. and PUBLIC in which every citizen or visitor for that matter, can
receive necessary medical/surgical help, free.

Pharmaceuticals are massively subsidised so that the US Pharmaceutical
cartel makes astronomical profits ( $125 for 96 cents worth of chemicals)
and the peasants only *directly* pay a couple of bucks.

The WHOLE SYSTEM is geared around the dispensing of approved
pharmaceuticals and a GP ( General Practitioner) that doesn't dispense
enough will be in big trouble. BUT it is then called under-servicing.
In a General Practice of today, an MD is expected to turnover a patient
every 7 minutes. Then hevvin help him if he doesn't write a scrip, too. (
The kickbacks from those buy a lot of yachts)

We did have a small ripple in things a while ago when the US threw their
weight around here a bit too publicly - punishing a few malcontents who
complained - including the head of the Pharmaceutical Price Review
C'tee here - about the excesses and threatening to buy
elswhere.. yeh, like Mexico? They are gone.

However, the control here is also the best in the world thanks to the
reporting system for Medicare as it is called and They know exactly what
every Doctor is doing all of the time, thanks to Oz computer innovations
like Isys and advanced Data-balancing.
E.G. An awful lot of GPs are now very much against willy-nilly vaccination
- particularly of the young - but are not able to say much OR ELSE. They
also can't simply stay quiet and not vaccinate the innocent, because it
shows up instantly in the statistics breakdowns. ( More than a few have had
warnings that I am aware of - and quickly, too.) Vaccinations are an in
thing here today, making up for the losses on the HRT side.

Re: CSRheumatoid arthritis or Lupus

2004-12-08 Thread Lea Ann
Hello Sol,

I am new to colloidal silver and at the same time discovered colloidal gold.

Colloidal Gold is supposed to be good for:
1.. Reducing the swelling and pain of arthritis
  2.. Brain function
  3.. Obesity
  4.. Blood circulation
  5.. Improving digestion
  6.. Rejuvenating sluggish organs
7.. Emotional conditions including depression and anxiety
8.. Promote healthier skin and the healing of skin ulcers
9.. Promote the healing of burns
There are a bunch of testimonials here:
http://www.colloidalgold.com/refroom.htm
most of the testimonials seem to be that it improves mental ability and
outlook but there are references to arthritis as well.

Found this at this website: http://www.purestcolloids.com/mesogold.htm

  Colloidal Gold
In the nineteenth century, Colloidal Gold was commonly used in the United
States to cure alcoholism (then called dipsomania, defined as the
uncontrollable craving for alcoholic liquors), and today it is used to reduce
dependency on alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, and carbohydrates. Colloidal Gold
has a balancing and harmonizing effect on all levels of body, mind, and spirit.
It is used to improve mental attitude and treat unstable mental and emotional
states such as depression, melancholy, sorrow, fear, despair, anguish,
frustration, suicidal tendencies, seasonal affective disorder (S.A.D.), poor
memory, poor concentration, and many other imbalances in mind and spirit.
Colloidal gold increases energy and libido. It also relieves attention deficit
disorder, and improves will power and mental focus. Other traditional
treatments include arthritis, obesity, skin ulcers, puncture wounds, nerve
damage (neuropathy), detoxification, motor skills, restless leg syndrome,
hyperactivity, poor eyesight, and poor hand-eye coordination. It is also used
to alleviate the wasting and malnutrition associated with chronic diseases.

Sorry if this is too off-topic for a silver list... I just thought the
colloidal part makes it relevant?

If this is too off topic... Here are some good lists for discussing colloidal
gold: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/cg_exchange/ (focuses mainly on making CG)

Re: CSRheumatoid arthritis or Lupus and nightshades

2004-12-08 Thread sol
Nightshades don't seem to be a bother to me. I have had a major, whole
body two days in bed flare after eating celery though. I don't do
cheddar as the yellow coloring annatto seems to be a problem for me. Is
annatto a nightshade? I know it is a common allergen. Right now, I do
eat some nightshades as they are some of the only veg I'm not allergic
to for other reasons.

I have just had bloodtests to rule out RA or Lupus, though my online
research seems to indicate that people who do not have positive
Rheumatoid factor blood tests can still have the disease, and people who
are positive for RF don't always have it. So I likely wasted my time and
had 9 x-rays for nothing. I have some symtpoms of both, but not all.
Over the past 15 or more years I've had problems in different joints,
hands, wrists, elbows, feet, hips, now it is my knees that are the
problem. A couple of times I have barely been able to get around, even
with canes. I have been working on suspected underlying causes for the
past two + years, but have made only minimal progress in the joint
problems, GI problems are significantly better though.

I may just have to self-treat for RA and see if I improve. This could
also be Fibromyalgia or one of the many other related mysterious
conditions. It doesn't seem to be anything definitive enough for a
real medical diagnosis. So it is very frustrating. The orthopedic doc
will likely push for arthroscopy but I don't want that.

Meantime he has said no walking and maybe I could do swimming for
excercise, but I can't because of eczema. I have no doubt whatsoever
that pool chlorine and chemicals would set off the eczema horribly,
because of the drying, if nothing else.

Meantime I'm supposed to take 3 Ibuprofen 3 times a day, for two weeks.
I don't normally do MDs anymore, but I was hoping for a diagnosis I
could then use to self-treat. I doubt I'll make the full two weeks of
the ibuprofen trial though, doubt my stomach will take it.
I will likely return to MSM and yucca, and homeopathic pain relievers.
If I could just get a diagnosis, I could target everything a whole lot
more effectively. There has just got to be an underlying cause of all
this whole complex of problems. Doesn't there? The food allergies I
already have complicate every attempt to deal with things via diet
though. My iodine allergy is the worst. Without the iodine allergy there
is a lot I could do via diet. But I can't get rid of it or haven't been
able to so far (20 years).

RE: CSRheumatoid arthritis or Lupus and nightshades

2004-12-08 Thread Yogiboy
Hi Sol,
You'll have to excuse my ignorance. I developed a left knee problem back
in April. It has become much better but still having intermittent aches.
Sometimes weather is a factor, sometimes sedentary inactivity. I
practice yoga and when done mindfully I have found it does help relieve
pain.
I did a few typical medical procedures and still nothing really. No
structural damage that can be seen, not even an MRI detected much.
There might be some inflammation behind some fatty tissue, inconclusive
at best. A sports therapist thinks it's an IT band issue along the
side of my leg running down just past the knee. The constant bending he
thinks is what is causing the aggravation.
I am still not sure if it is a physical problem, or if it has been
brought on by dietary neglect. Went to a nutritionist didn't work. I
don't believe it is RA. I don't have any inflammation, in the joint or
surrounding area.
Still haven't got a clue. Got any ideas?

In regards to your situation, I suppose without sounding silly, believe
you have to over come your iodine allergy? The thyroid really does need
this. Have you tried Homeopathy?

Just a suggestion.. :-)

RE: CSRheumatoid arthritis or Lupus and nightshades

2004-12-08 Thread Richard Harris
Hi Sol,

Sorry to read of your allergies and problems. Regarding the Chlorine in pool
chemicals--my son has a hot tub which he enjoys nightly to relieve pain from
his Army Desert Storm injuries--I had been supplying him CS, CCu (colloidal
copper) and H2O2 which he used with great success to replace regular harmful
pool chemicals. Recently he found a Copper/Silver Bar that he purchased and
uses and reports great success and comfort without chemical irritation. They
also make such bars in larger sizes for use in pools--I suggest you inquire
with pool suppliers and pool owners where you swim to see if they might have
changed their preventive maintenance. Perhaps even sell them on the
advantages so they, too, can enjoy their swims without skin irritation.

Best regards,

Date: Sat, 04 Dec 2004 19:15:49 -5 Hi Sue, If you're using Trem's machine, there's a good chance the Tyndall effect will be fairly subtle. You'd probably have to view it in a darkened room if you are to see it at all, so that is one more thing to try if you haven't yet. As you say, it's not crucial. What is sludge? I think your question is in response to Ken's remark "between a few ppm and sludge...?" I'll give you two answers: One kind of "sludge" we might mention is the fluffy build-up of silver metal and oxide particles that'll form
on your negative electrode if you let the machine run for a real long time. Don't stir the stuff in and drink it, but don't be paranoid if you get a few tiny bits, either. Further in that direction, the *other* answer has to do with a Libertarian US Senate candidate from Montana who made the national news a couple of years back, complete with doctored photographs, when somebody noticed he looked a little odd under studio lights during a debate. Whereas the obviously photoshopped pictures made him look like a punked- out Papa Smurf with electric blue skin and orange hair, he in fact had an extremely mild case of argyria. He got that way by taking bad advice on how to make CS, adding several mistakes of his own, and then drinking an awful lot of it. He was using tap or well water, *adding* salt to it, cooking it for an hour
or more with an unregulated generator, then drinking the opaque sludge he'd created by the glassful, every day for 2 or 3 years!!! If you work that hard at it, yes, you stand a very good chance of developing argyria. Even so, his case is rather mild. So much so that I don't believe he's concerned about it. I think the story is covered on Jason's excellent site... http://www.silvermedicine.org/argyria.htmlI did buy a lazer pointer when i bought my machine, trouble is i am partial sighted and i cant see the beam when it shines through the water at all, but that is my fault, As Ode states it tastes of silver , or rather metal. The machine stated to set the dial midway to produce 8- 10ppm which i did.I just wanted to know if there was a meter to give me a rough guide. Anyone want a
lazer pointer lol. What is sludge please?. Hope that helps! Be well, Mike D. wrists. Lump developed on his shoulder a couple inches up from his joint, went
partially back down. Getting MRI. His uric acid was high, has that history.
Eats too much sugar mostly, some alchohol. I told him:). Reg heart doc put him
on allopurinol. I told him why not try MSM. Put in email to alt doc but
he(husband) took it (MSM) only a few days while waiting for answer. We noticed
his blood was thicker as he cut himself and it did not flow a gusher like
usual. What?? He said he quit MSM as he has some chest pain. What do you all
think of MSM and thickening of the blood?? or ? He had been on allopurinol for
about 3 weeks at least. They did say it took about a month to work. He was
only taking 1000 mg MSM twice a day.

I've posted here once before, and the medical training I've had, is
through the school of hard knocks. The symptoms you describe appear to
be a viral infection. I don't know, but assume colloidal silver would
be helpful since it fights infections. Viruses affect people in
different ways, one person may suffer from arthritis, while the other
has diabetes or vision and hearing loss, or a myriad of other symptoms.
Except for Aids and possibly hepatitis, few understand viruses. Since
viruses usually move into cells, and not circulating in the blood, they
rarely show up in a blood test. Many doctors tell patients, they're in
good health when nothing could be further from the truth. It's the
viruses that are killing us, but haven't found anyone yet willing to
study them, including NINDS of the National Institutes of Health in
Bethesda. This is a goverment-research lab funded by the taxpayer FOR
the taxpayer. Ho,ho,ho! I've been searching nearly twelve years for
someone to study me but no one interested in finding cures. Congress
appropriates billions overnight to fight a war, but when the people need
it; suddenly, there's little money left to help the disabled and sick,
even though the taxpayer pays most of Uncle Sam's bills and brag
democracy to the world. Third-world countries do a better job at
research than here, the richest nation in the world. No research, no
cures. Simple as that. The power lies with the people, will Americans
ever wake up before it's too late

We've had the same types of reports for MSM. We've found that in most cases
when people aren't getting results, it's because they aren't taking enough.
For people with RA type problems, we usually suggest at least 1000mg. per 30
pounds of body weight, taken twice a day. At that level, most people tell
us they start feeling much better within a week or so.

I firmly believe Rheumatoid arthritis, Lupus, MS and most auto immunine
diseases begin from the same sourcemycoplasma:
www.rain-tree.com/myco.htm . If you tke copious amounts of CS (16 oz. of
home made) on a continous basis, you will get excellent results. It is not
instant, but withing a few weeks you will begin to see improvement. My two
friendws were pretty much clear of Lupus after about 6 months. Three people
I know with rheumatoid arthritis take about 3-4 oz. a day, but they take it
continually. It works! Just have a littlepatience.

Hi again Sol,
Regarding your taking MSM for the RA, a friend informed me that the dose
is
very important; At least 12 1,000mg MSM Tabs + 6 1,000mg Vit C--He
reported

that he had recieved recognizable relief with this dose after only a week.
Of course, you could use the powders and stir in juice of choice--only
make

sure you're at this large minimum dose in order for effective relief.

Sincerely,
___

I searched the archives for any reference to Rheumatoid arthritis, found
a thread with 11 messages in it and other than the subject header, not
one word about curing RA with colloidal silver.
Anyone have any experience with using CS for either RA or Lupus?

TIA,
sol
