Re: CSWhat kind of Batteries ?

2007-07-30 Thread Ode Coyote

Yea $175 for a deep cycle marine battery you can get for $60 at the
auto parts store.

Pretty pricey label !!

The windups probably use a big capacitor discharging through a big resistor
or voltage regulator.. doesn't store much power, but charges up fast and
doesn't go bad for a long time. Also very light weight and inexpensive
compared to batteries

The concept could be well applied to CS making as that doesn't take much power.
If you put it along a trail, everyone who passes by could give the crank
a turn or two and it would run the CS generator long enough for the next
person to pass by.

...even some sort of treadle to step on along the way.

DC/DC voltage doublers have been around for a long time.
Neat trick, but they eat more power than just using 2 batteries to get that
voltage.

The only advantage is space savings.

A couple of 6 volt bicycle generators for lights will do the job nicely
and are not uncommon in the third world already.
Some vanes attached to the spokes made out of old plastic bottles , tin
cans or pieces of bark, sit bike upside down facing the wind...windmill.

It could have a simple built-in constant current controller and heavy-duty

The idea would be to give these devices away through some existing,
trustworthy agency, so the cost would have to be very modest, especially
because the few people involved in this have no funding at present.

SOTA Instruments has a patented method to turn the output of one 9-V
battery into 36 volts in their low-cost Silver Pulser Lite.I think
that device is constant current also.

We'd not be aiming to do blood electrification, though, just make the EIS,
and at $110, the Lite would be much too Heavy (expensive, that is.)

The 4-9 plan might be cheaper and easier but I'm no engineer and am not

could alleviate some of the misery the invasion and occupation have produced.

Incidentally, the designer of the solar stove that I hope can do double
duty as a water distiller is a fine gentleman by the name of Steven E.
Jones, PhD, whom I count as a friend and courageous role model. Jones
has taken a bit of a beating for his outspoken truth-telling, but in
time he will be vindicated, barring a total political breakdown in the
USA.

I mention Jones here in part because he former employer, BYU (which
fired him for his 9/11 research) also has some scholars who've done
hard research on EIS. The BYU research appeared several times in this
list over the years.

Maybe it will turn out that a handful of LDS-members -- hard scientists
all --- will create the stove/distiller/EIS device that will give poor
people some of the most powerful health tools they'll ever have. (I'm
not an LDS member so I'm not on a mission with this message!)

Thanks again.

Maybe simple is best. You can't get simpler than four 9-V ni-cad solar
rechargeable batteries.

The only really desirable addition would be the electronics to produce
automatic shutoff and constant current.

Constant current, in my personal experience, makes a big difference.
Without that, there's a sudden surge that produces a big cloud of
particles before the device shuts off.

You can also achieve similar benefits if you drink ozonated water

Things we don't have to know in order to make CS.

Evening Faith,

This is not directed at you but any that want it to be.

However, some of your questions and statements gave me the idea for this
list and the message.

There are many things we don't have to know, some we must know, and others
fall in between.

We do not have to know .:

Instrumentation

TDS, PTW PPM, Conductivity
Volts from Amps
AC from DC
Mili Siemens and micro Siemens
Mili mho micro mho ( now mostly obsolete )
Current Volts Amps
Ohms Law
The Faraday Equation
Water Conductivity
Batch Current
Hot to use a Multi-Meter
The Difference between a Transformer and a Power Supply
Advanced Technical Knowledge in any associated field
( Others exist of course )

The things you must know and do !

No matter if you buy an intelligent automatic generator, a semi-automatic
generator, a manual generator, build it, or someone helps you build it,
you will be furnished very simple instructions. You must go by these
exactly. If for any reason, you do not understand them, go back to the
source for explanations.

While going by these instructions, you have some important tasks to
accomplish. Without instrumentation, you must train your eye and your
mind, flawlessly.

With all the generators mentioned above, you must be able to look at it
( actually look at the batch ) and tell if it is working properly. With
the simpler and manual generators, your eye will become your number one
instrument and measuring tool. It will become very keen and you will
learn several important things. Use a Clock to time each batch. The
elapsed time and the things you observe are very important. A little
manual stirring does not hurt.

Over time, your skills will amaze you. Trust me !

As you learn more and more, you may begin to make slight changes but you
must understand why your are doing it, and the results to expect.

I suggest you make a log on each batch, with elapsed time, other notes,
and especially your eye observations.

If you are blind or have impaired vision, ask for help from someone.
A keen eye and a fully functional brain are both a must.

Over time, you may learn and understand some of the terms above and want
to study them in order to understand more.

Why ask a question when you don't even understand the question, much less
the answer ? That is, unless you ask, Where do I learn about this.

I fear that making CS is a lot like computers. Most do not study enough
to get half way to first base. Therefore they do not understand many
points made about each.

In summary, Don't worry about what you don't know.

I have an 80 year old sister that makes lots of CS. She gives it away and
travels around applying it to wounds that will not heal.

She understands nothing, other than the instructions.

All of the items mentioned, and my statements can have much, much more
said about them.

I hope this message will make life easier for the ones that simply will
never understand some of the things relating to CS.

Again, if you will train your eye, your mind, use a clock and keep a log,
you will make great CS and can enjoy the many benefits while your learn
more, ... as much as you desire.

I use 3 mail servers and 3 email addresses to beat the internet and mail

You are not limited to one mail software ( nor one bogus web browser ) You
can have 3, 4, of 5, all set up and working.

I think my mail software would handle 15 email addresses and maybe that
many mail servers. I normally limit it to 3 or 4.

Use Web mail only as an emergency measure. Some say they use it because
they can check mail from anywhere. Of course all my mail servers have
Webmail any time I want to use it.

I have always been able to check mail from any place I travel.

I may have been a little wrong about gMail. But, it was because the fool

I understand the English language. Some of the things said there are
incomplete and some things were not stated.

The hackers are getting better and working longer hours. I think some are
trained and may in fact be terrorists.

I never like any situation I have no control over. By using multiple email
addresses and mail servers, I always have one working no matter what the
internet does, most of the time.

Any other questions? Someone here can answer them, usually.
Their answer may be a bit biased, like mine.

I have set up mail on hundreds of computers, maybe thousands.

Maybe simple is best. You can't get simpler than four 9-V ni-cad
solar

rechargeable batteries.

The only really desirable addition would be the electronics to produce
automatic shutoff and constant current.

Constant current, in my personal experience, makes a big difference.
Without that, there's a sudden surge that produces a big cloud of
particles before the device shuts off.

You may or may not need a very small unit. I have several that are 12 X 12

They come in a huge variety of Voltages, Wattages, and current outputs.
Most of the small ones have no circuitry to regulate battery charge current,

I'm not one of the parties involved in this conversation but may I
ask, what is IMAP access. I'm trying to decide if I want to make
gmail my main email program.

Charles can explain it better. I have a slight understanding.

However, BEWARE or the internet information about IMAP.
https://neomailbox.com/imap_email.html
This link is DEAD WRONG about IMAP and other mail capability.

In what way is it wrong? And if you only have a 'slight understanding'

this web page of being 'DEAD WRONG'?

I read the entire page at the link you provided, and find not one thing
that is wrong - except maybe for one comment:

You will be able to access all your mail folders and send mail from any
device.

Sending email has nothing to do with IMAP, so this statement is at least
a bit misleading - but of course, there is no reason you cannot also run
an SMTP server on the same box (which is what I do). But the first part

Valid concerns as far as they go - but maybe you haven't heard of
'offline support' for IMAP? Thunderbird has had this for a long time, as
do most other mature IMAP clients.

By enabling 'offline support' for all of your IMAP folders, you are
essentially keeping local copies of everything (not just the headers),
so that you can search, reply, save attachments, etc, all without being

Most reliable in what regard? By using IMAP with offline support (which
I do recommend), you have the best of both worlds...

You can also set up something like fetchmail to 'grab' any email from
any of your POP accounts, and dump it into specific folders on your IMAP
server automatically, so you don't NEED to check it yourself - it is
just 'there' - and GMail supports this, under the 'Accounts Get mail
from other accounts' setting. Of course, this is all way beyond what the
average person will ever want, need or do...

I use 3 mail servers and 3 email addresses to beat the internet and

Emergency, or convenience... although I use strong passwords on all of
my accounts, so I have to carry my password for my main account around
with me as I still haven't memorized it (15 characters long, numbers,
letters and special characters)...

Some say they use it because they can check mail from anywhere. Of
course all my mail servers have Webmail any time I want to use it.

I prefer carrying around my Portable Thunderbird - then as long as I
have access to a computer with a live USB port, I don't need to pull out
my main account/password and resort to webmail.

I have always been able to check mail from any place I travel.

Ditto... as long as there is an internet connection. I also have access
to ALL of my mail, no matter how I'm accessing it, thanks to IMAP.

Wayne - be honest - and please don't blame someone else for your own

OK, that was one. Some of the things it mentioned as not being able to
be done is easy and standard features of many email programs.

In what way is it wrong? And if you only have a 'slight understanding' of
how IMAP works, how in the world can you then turn around and accuse this

When you read something in black and white, a slight understanding is
enough.

Seems you said it does SMTP. I did not read that anyplace. Maybe I missed it.

The first line says it is a Webmail package.
It mentions POP 3. Bit no SMTP.

I read the entire page at the link you provided, and find not one thing
that is wrong - except maybe for one comment:

Several links on the side also.

The page emphasizes features of IMAP that are standard and automatic in
most programs.

productive way to spend your day.

Suggest that this is a manual operation and takes time.
It takes zero time, but I do not use folders and subfolders, and only MBX (
mailbox files )

Valid concerns as far as they go - but maybe you haven't heard of

My mailer appears to support IMAP but have never used it. I don't think any

essentially keeping local copies of everything (not just the headers), so

OK, I can understand that. You could use IMAP just like any mail server
without using all the features.

Most reliable in what regard? By using IMAP with offline support (which I

I don't disagree, but have never needed the other world.

'Accounts Get mail from other accounts' setting. Of course, this is
all way beyond what the average person will ever want, need or do...

Yes, the average person will be snowbound by IMAP.

I talked to one network administrator today, He also has web servers he
manages.

He did not say anything bad about it. He did state that many, if not most
network adminstrators like and use IMAP.

I have about 25 email addresses, some I manage/host myself
(my own domains), others are freebies like gmail, yahoo, etc
(the yahoo and hotmail are only for IM service, so I can have an IM
identity for each of the services so I can talk to anyone on

  any service)...

It appears it was made by and for adminstrators and very powerful
users. No complaints in that respect of course.

I have 15 different accounts set up in TBird right now - all IMAP
based (with fetchmail to handle the POP only accounts like my
Netzero and gmail), all accessed through Thunderbird...

OK, I can understand and appreciate that for sure.

Thunderbird would handle dozens - heck, hundreds of email accounts, and as
many servers (each account can be on the same server, or a different one -
makes no difference).

I just picked the number 15 not based on any facts. It handles more than
I want or need.

And one thing I really like about Thunderbird is each account has its
own folders (Inbox, Sent, Drafts, Templates, etc)... makes keeping things
organized a breeze...

OK, now you have about sold me on Thunderbird. grin

Emergency, or convenience... although I use strong passwords on all of my

I won't ask how long it took you to learn all that.

I prefer carrying around my Portable Thunderbird - then as long as I have

I consider they are exaggerating a thing or two not granting that some
of the things can be done other ways.

Re: CSRe: question about homozon - ozone

2007-07-30 Thread G Murray

Hi Leslie,

I would ask any questions of ozone to Dr. Saul Pressman. He has a line
of ozonators that can be used for various uses and is one of the most
knowlegeable people on ozone. He can be found on oxyp...@yahoo.com ,
ozonether...@yahoo.com, or his website at http://www.plasmafire.com/.

Subject: CSRe: question about homozon

I have posted a question about homozon before and it was answered
but I dont remember seeing an answer about this particular question.
I may have missed the answer or have forgotten. does homozon address
parasites as well ?

It may help with some, but by itself, I'd say no... except that by
cleansing and detoxing the bowels, kidneys, liver and gall bladder,
it destroys most of the hiding places of these critters - and by
keeping the bowels moving, it will help to get rid of them as you
kill them by other methods.

From what I've been reading DE (diatomaceous earth) may be one of the
more effective ways to eliminate many parasites, but there are lots
of other, more time-tested methods (cloves, garlic, black walnut
hulls, etc - google is your friend)...

Here's one hit on DE:

Is it safe for long term use or just occasional cleansing ? thanks in
advance

It is very safe for long term use - but as with anything, you should
take breaks occasionally.

You can also achieve similar benefits if you drink ozonated water
regularly, and aside from the one-time expense for the generator, and
very minimal ongoing expenses for powering it, it is free, while
homozon costs about $30 per bottle...

2007-07-30 Thread Jonathan B. Britten

Hi, Wayne,

No secrets, so far as I know. Dr. Jones is actually giving away the
stoves, as he has in the past.

I'm trying to find someone who will distribute them.

Iraq is a a disaster that is just unbearable.Anyone who can help
should. Let's try!

I'll put some information on the OT list if anything would be of
interest.

I have support for the distiller/EIS combination so we'll see how it
goes.

Why do that ? We have the OT list.

I am sure many are interested in this, me included.

Unless this project is secret, I would like to know more about the
basic design.

I have studied solar collectors, solar cooking, and other phases of
it for years. I doubt seriously that he has any new principles, just
slightly different combinations of such.

My friend just came back from a primitive country whereas he makes
several trips per year. Just when he started building the stoves
there, the price of metal nearly doubled.

He told me about a water fall from 200 to 300 feet tall with a good
flow rate. I told him he could borrow my book on water wheel design.
So, . he has the energy source at hand.

Sounds like the perfect place for a water wheel.

There is nothing new under the sun.

Re: CSGenerators for Iraqi Refugees

2007-07-30 Thread Jonathan B. Britten
This is the reason any effort can help. Dr. Jones' solar stoves can
cook food, sterilize water, and maybe make distiller water for EIS,
with a few adaptations. One stove could help several families. It
would be a start. He's donating the stoves, but in time we'll have up
a PayPal site for donations to pay for packing and shipping.

Oxfam also says that Bush's new Executive Order is scaring the hell out
of charitable groups; the man says he can seize the assets of anyone
hindering reconstruction. If a decent group like OXFAM is worried,
that's worrisome.

   Great !

Thanks for all the information.

I'm trying to find someone who will distribute them.

If my friends were going to that country, they would be interested.

Yes, and the USA created it, to some degree.

I'll put some information on the OT list if anything would be of interest.

Yes, please do. I have always been interested in solar and solar cookers.

I have support for the distiller/EIS combination so we'll see how it goes.

Most people cannot imagine how powerful these devices can be.

Usually the design is relatively simple. Sounds like he has combined some
proven principles in a genius fashion.

Yes, put any links to information, pictures, and links to information about
the man doing this also on the OT list.
