but I don't have the funds to tie up at 8 bucks a whack while trying a half
dozen varieties of a sweetener the bad forms of which I have to dump. Maybe
stevia makes good ant poison, too. Maybe I'm a big babybut
for now, I think I'll stay with Splenda until it poisons me. By then,
there'll probably be another new sweetener I can die from eating.

Dawn,
I'm a diabetic currently recovering from a bout of cellulitis. I was given 3
separate courses of Keflex (I think that's the same as Cephalexin) plus a
piggyback of another antibiotic for a week.
I wish I had good news. The cellulitis (or something similar) hangs on to
this day, and the cellulitis began at the end of August. The abx cleared it
up-almost-but it doesn't go completely away. I have been taking CS
internally in the amount of 4oz to 8oz a day of 10-20ppm homemade for about
a year. It seems to have no affect on this condition internally or
externally, nor does Vit E oil or Emu oil. I've decided to continue my
regimen of supplements and CS daily and forget about it unless it bothers me
a lot. OLE has no noticeable effect either.
Good luck,

I've had the ulcer since early Sept and although the antibiotics and other

layers of skin to the ankle bone, so it won't heal overnite, but, at least

I appreciate all of the input on the subject of diabetic leg ulcers; in my
particular situation surface infection does not exist. The wound has been
cultured and is sterile. The problem seems to be entirely circulatory. The
blood flow necessary to transport materials necessary for wound healing is
miniscule. The wound is located on the right ankle bone-an area almost
completely devoid of blood vessels. Per "ole Bob" I have kept the wound in
constant contact with CS for two days and counting-the wound is filling
in-healing-proof that silver is not just antiseptic but has additional
powers.

Yeast is an opportunistic organism-it exists in abundance wherever and
whenever its environment changes to allow it to proliferate. Cancer

hormones, so women taking birth control pills are susceptible, high carb

Plain old L-Glutamine is very helpful for any disease or other problem

increasing the dosage it would eventually eliminate the symptoms. CS should

Start with 500mg per meal and go from there. The reason L-Glutamine is so
good for the digestive tract is that it is the primary fuel that the

Sept of last year I quit using aspartame. I had been using up to 30 packets a
day for 10 years or more. My symptoms were: depression, crying jags, raging,
tinnitus, vertigo, leg pains which I thought were diabetic neuropathy, blood
sugar totally out of control, headaches, equilibrium problems to the point of
falling down several times a day, and severe muscle atrophy. I did this
entirely on my own because all my "friends" and "professionals" said I was
crazy. Well, I was crazy all right, but not the way they thought.
Now, ten months later, all symptoms are gone or 90% gone. I still have diabetes
and the accompanying problems
but I`m totally not depressed, etc.

CS>Colloidal Silver

2000-07-08 Thread hughman1
Colloidal Silver
Quackwatch Home Page

Colloidal Silver:
Risk Without Benefit
Stephen Barrett, M.D.
Colloidal silver is a suspension of submicroscopic metallic silver particles in
a colloidal base. Long-term use of silver preparations can lead to argyria, a
condition in which silver salts deposit in the skin, eyes, and internal organs,
and the skin turns ashen-gray. Many cases of argyria occurred during the
pre-antibiotic era when silver was a common ingredient in nosedrops. When the
cause became apparent, doctors stopped recommending their use, and reputable
manufacturers stopped producing them. The official drug guidebooks (United
States Pharmacopeia and National Formulary) have not listed colloidal silver
products since 1975.

Dubious Ads
In recent years, silver-containing products have been marketed with
unsubstantiated claims that they are effective against AIDS, cancer, infectious
diseases, parasites, chronic fatigue, acne, warts, hemorrhoids, enlarged
prostate, and many other diseases and conditions. Some marketers claim that
colloidal silver is effective against hundreds of diseases.

During 1998, a Florida-based multilevel company, stated:

Our colloidal silver contains 99.99% pure silver particles suspended
indefinitely in demineralized water that kills bacteria and viruses. It can be
applied topically and/or absorbed into the blood stream sub-lingually (under
the tongue), thereby avoiding the negative effects of traditional antibiotics
that kill good bacteria in the lower digestive tract.

An all natural antibiotic alternative in the purest form available. The
presence of colloidal silver near a virus, fungi, bacterium or any other single
celled pathogen disables its oxygen-metabolism enzyme, its chemical lung, so to
say. The pathogens suffocates and dies, and is cleared out of the body by the
immune, lymphatic and elimination systems.

Unlike pharmaceutical antibiotics which destroy beneficial enzymes, colloidal
silver leaves these beneficial enzymes intact. Thus colloidal silver is
absolutely safe for humans, reptiles, plants and all multi-celled living matter.

It is impossible for single-celled germs to mutate into silver-resistant
forms, as happens with conventional antibiotics. Also, colloidal silver cannot
interact or interfere with other medicines being taken. Colloidal silver is
truly a safe, natural remedy for many of mankind's ills. Colloidal silver can
be taken indefinitely because the body does not develop a tolerance to it [1]

Seasilver Intermational, a California-based multilevel company, claims that
American are suffering from "silver deficiency." Although silver is not an
essential nutrient, product information posted on the company's Web site states:

The depletion of minerals in our soil has left us deficient of silver, one of
our most essential trace minerals, causing a drastic increase in immune system
disorders in our society in the last decade. Research has taught us that all
disease is allowed to manifest itself because of a weakened immune system. In
over 20 years of worldwide research on Colloidal Silver, numerous interviews
with government agencies, health care practitioners and their patients, no
other nutrient, herb or drug (prescription or over-the-counter) is as safe and
effective against all known forms of unfriendly virus, bacteria, and fungus.
Additionally, while it is generally known that most antibiotics kill only
perhaps 6 or 7 different disease organisms, reports have shown that Colloidal
Silver has been used successfully in the treatment of over 650 diseases!
Furthermore, strains of disease organisms fail to develop in the presence of
Colloidal Silver. Colloidal Silver's greatest attribute is its unique ability
to function as a superior second immune system in the body! [2]

The ad below is from the July 1996 issue of Alternative Medicine Digest.

Critical Studies
In 1995, an herbal distributor named Leslie Taylor tested nine commonly
marketed colloidal silver products available at health-food stores and
concluded:

a.. Two of the products were contaminated with microorganisms.
b.. The amount of silver suspended in solution varied from product to product
and would gradually decrease over time.
c.. Only five products actually showed antibacterial activity in a laboratory
test. To perform the test, she prepared a culture plate with Staphylococcus
aureas bacteria, which can cause infections in humans. She then placed a drop
from each product on the plate and used disks of two common antibiotics as
controls. After eight hours of incubation, she found that bacterial growth had
been inhibited around the antibiotics and four of the products.
Of course, the fact that a product inhibits bacteria in a laboratory culture
doesn't mean it is effective (or safe) in the human body. In fact, products
that kill bacteria in the laboratory would be more likely to cause argyria
because they contain more

Re: CS>MSM

2000-05-25 Thread hughman1
Kathy,
In my personal experience of using MSM @ 8-16 grams per day, it is best not
to take at or near bedtime because it is stimulating. The time or two that I
got sick from taking it , was when I took it on an empty or almost empty
stomach. Eat a meal first.

Diane,
CMO stands for Cetyl Myristoleate (sp?). I think it`s a derivative of flax
seed oil. It`s available at health food stores in the US. Kind of pricey @
$60-$80 a bottle for a month supply, but , supposedly it`s a once a year
thing.
For more info, go to the online store of Dr. Donsbach @

Re: CS>Unidentified subject!

2000-05-04 Thread hughman1
Elena,
Yes, I`ve heard of results from as little as 1-2 grams twice a day for
treatment of allergies! I would advise starting small and working up to the
level of comfort that works for you. It needn`t be a lot. It all depends on
your problem and the severity thereof. I probably could cut down some now,
but I like how I feel at my level. The only real drawback to high doses is
the cost because toxicity is about the same as water.
Best Wishes,
Hugh

Have you tried gulping? Big gulps make it go down faster.I`ve tried
different kinds of soft drinks and pink lemonade seems to work for me, sort
of. Unfortunately, diabetes isn`t very forgiving of sugared beverages. I
used water just once-ice cold is better than room temp. No, I didn`t really
get used to it, but I would rather deal with the icky taste of msm than
suffer with peripheral neoropathy.

Re: CS>Allergies!

2000-04-01 Thread hughman1
MSM MSM MSM MSM MSM MSM
To quote Stanley Jacob, M.D., co-author of "The Miracle of MSM"-[I have
seen hundreds of allergy cases clear up with MSM, including my own. Years
ago, I experienced the typical miseries of a seasonal grass-pollen allergy.
From mid-April to mid-July, I required the usual antihistamine relief. In
those days, the antihistamine medications often created a side effect of
drowsiness. Today they are less likely to do that. But way back then, it was
a price you paid for relief.
If I didn`t take medication, my eyes burned, my nose ran, and I developed
nasal congestion, making it difficult to breath through my nose. Often the
symptoms would persist throughout the day.
I started taking MSM more than twenty years ago, and it relieved my problem
entirely. No eye irritation. No runny nose. No congestion. No problem at all
through allergy season. I have continued to take MSM for all these years
and have not had to resort to an antihistamine even once.
In the beginning I used MSM in the capsule form, taking two or three
750-milligram capsules in the morning and the same dose in the evening.
Later, I took the same amount of MSM but found it easier and more effective
if I mixed the crystals in a small amount of water. The dosage I need now to
control my pollen allergy is one gram morning and evening.]
Best Wishes,
Hugh
