CSMAGNESIUM QUESTION

2007-09-22 Thread Gladys Williams
Don't mean to go off topic- Cleaning out old files-ran across this article. Is
this true How much and what kind of Magnesium should be taken??? Thank
you so much in advance.

MAGNESIUM

Magnesium is often called the anti-stress mineral because it has a calming
effect when taken. Its soothing properties induce restful sleep. It is very
much needed by the person who has a hyperactive nervous system, or one who is
hot-tempered, overly active, or agitated. Magnesium is part of bones and cells,
especially the smooth cells of arteries. It protects the arterial fining from
stress caused by sudden blood pressure changes. Magnesium assists in the
absorption of calcium and potassium. Over 300 enzymes need magnesium to
function properly. It has also been called the circulatory mineral because of
its regulating effect on muscle contraction. Magnesium helps the body to
utilize vitamins B6, C, and E. When combined with B6 it helps to reduce and
dissolve calcium phosphate stones. Magnesium is so important that the brain
stores twice as much magnesium as other body tissues - this is a safety
supply to have in the event of a drop in the magnesium reserves. Magnesium
combats acids, toxins, gases, and impurities in the body. It makes tissues
limber, elastic, youthful, and supple. It is a natural laxative for the bowels.

Possible Signs of Deficiency:

1.Person may seem nervous

2.Increased cravings for sugar and sweet foods

3.Constipation

4. Many heart conditions, including arrhythmia, angina pain, congestive
heart failure, heart attacks (without magnesium, arteries, especially in the
heart and

   brain, tense up)

5. Strokes,

6. Hypertension,

7. High LDL cholesterol levels.

8. Migraine headaches,

  9. Poor concentration

10. Irritability and nervousness, caused by poortransmission of
nerve and muscle impulses.

11. Spasmodic pains in women during monthly cycle

The following deplete magnesium:

Stress-diuretics-fluoride--refined flour-chemotherapy-too much
sugar-antibiotics-large amounts of protein-high fat foods decrease absorption
of magnesium, as do foods high in oxalic acid (such as almonds, cocoa, spinach
and tea)

Foods high in magnesium include:

yellow corn and yellow corn meal, apples, dried soybeans and soy milk sunflower
seeds, parsley, oats, cabbage, whole wheat

Re: CSMAGNESIUM QUESTION

2007-09-22 Thread Tad Winiecki
I ended my lower back spasms (back going out) by taking Magnesium in
chelated multi-mineral capsules and also taking colloidal minerals. We
are currently trying to do the Budwig diet which claims to help joint
problems in addition to cancer and heart problems, and the Budwig diet
wants people to stop taking supplements. I'm having a struggle
mentally with this but we are trying the diet and if it works it would
be great since our supplement rights are threatened and may be taken
away. People recommend Magnesium orotate, aspartate, citrate,
chloride, and I took malate for a while. Dosage is usually about 400
mg to balance 1000 mg of Calcium. The list of food sources at the end
interested me as I am trying for the food approach at present. It
would save a lot of money if it works.

Abandoning vitamin and mineral supplements would only benefit the gargantuan
pharmateucical comapnies and would be very detrimental to the consumer.
The pharmaceutical companies want THEIR DRUGS ONLY to be available to the
consumer and nothing else. What a morbid idea. Consumers have to stand up
and fight for their rights and we have been doing that for years. Our
supplement rights will never be taken away.

I'd say the stupid Budweig diet is nothing more than propaganda against the
consumer and doesn't know it's elbow from a hole in the ground.. I wouldn't
goanywhere near a diet that demands people stop taking supplements.

The Budwig diet is helping many cancer patients. To condemn a
certain approach to restoring health without having an understanding
of the underlying science is more dangerous than taking the
vitamins and pills from your Walmart store. Many supplements are
useless anyway but that is my opinion only.
It may be worth reading Dr. Budwig's books and talk to the many
people who have followed and are following her diet. Many are

this lady's total devotion and insight. By the way, the Budwig diet

RE: CSMAGNESIUM QUESTION and MAGNESIUM CHLORIDE

2007-09-22 Thread ruth strackbein

Hi, What an informative article. I printed it out in its entirety. Where can
one get magnesium chloride? I have been using Milk of Magnesia as a laxative
on Dr.s orders. Was worried that I have been getting too much magnesium
compared to calcium. Looks like it works the other way around. I have had the
notion that calcium and magnesium should be taken in equal amounts. Got pills
from my chiropractor that had equal amounts of each in each pill.
