[RCSE] Fw: RDS pockets, wiring harnesses

Subject: RDS pockets, wiring harnesses

Of late, I've been making RDS pockets out of carbon sheet I laid up out of
5.7 oz. bidrectional CF cloth. 4 layers results in a sheet measuring .038
thick. I just roll them with bagging epoxy over waxed window glass to get
one smooth side but vacuum bagging the assembly between mylar sheets would
be even better. I cut strips 1/2 wide on my little table saw and then
into pieces of uniform length. The edges are ten sanded smooth. I'm using
3/32 bass sheet from Lone Star Models as spacing material. File 6 at
http://genie.rchomepage.com/ details how to quickly assemble the parts and
how to use a bench vise to get the perfect slightly snug fit to the
shaft being used.

In the absence of getting any response from Hoopes regarding a harness for
my big Genie #29, I again used a 2-part 6 pin Deans connector. I have just
revised my document on wiring up the Deans and on request would be happy
to e-mail a PDF version. The document also details the Hoopes Harness
worked out between me and Tom to use for the Genie line of sailplanes.

needed a couple or three more guys and it would have been a voucher filler

[RCSE] NATS registrations

2006-04-02 Thread Barry Andersen
Well boys, daylight savings time has arrived, it's April, and there's
less than 8 weeks left for you to register for this year's LSF
Soaring NATS.

To date, 60 pilots have made a decision about what they will fly
when. Four frequency blocks have filled up and the XC, F3B slots are
limited and filling.

It's to your advantage to send in your registration before the last
week of registration. I do have a life outside of soaring and hope
that I don't have to register 40 to 50 more pilots in the last two
weeks.

Check the LSF site for available frequencies and other information:

http://www.silentflight.org/NATS2006/Nats2006.html

Send em in, please

Happy daylight and soaring

Well boys, daylight savings time has arrived, it's April,

Remember, Indiana finally got with the world and is changing their clocks,
so we will have an extra hour of sun in Muncie this summer. Gives guys lots
of after hours flying time and Gordy can shoot more landing in preperation
for that Nats plaque. Also, to back up what Barry has said, I know that
many schedules finalize in the last minute, but if you know you are coming
go ahead and help Barry out and get that entry in. That means you
Siebanaler, git-r-done!

2006-04-02 Thread Jack Iafret
Not so lucky in Michigan, really bad weather with high winds, no sun and about 40 degrees. Only got eight out and only about half the flights made it to five minutes. It helped having an F3b ship with a little ballast so you could get to wave lift far out (sometimes).

I hope the Nats doesn't use the extra hour of daylight to fly
another round. Last year, the first day of Unlimited ran so long
that I had trouble landing in the last round because of the setting
sun was blinding me. I was so exhausted that I canceled the planned
supper with friends and ate a hamburger in the motel after 9
PM. There is more to the Nats than flying. I prefer the way
Visalia runs their contest. It is a better balance of flying and partying.

You will notice Chuck, that the reference was for fun flying, not the
contest, Lord hope and the river does not rise, we will not go late this
year so you will not miss your dinner plans. Remember, since we started
late that day, about three hours, is why we went late. I would imagine that
Visalia does not have much of a problem with thunder, lightening and rain at
times during their contest. AMA and LSF do not want us to go late if
possible.

Say hello to Martha for me!

Marc

There you go Chuck! I remember when... Better not go there. :-)

Well at least the Saturday night Bonfire Bar-B-Q seems to be a good
step in that direction.

Play hard and have fun.
