[RCSE] subscribing: beware buyouts
Thanks for all the ideas to get me back on the list! Here's what I think happened: My local ISP was recently bought by In Reach and they apparently have a different spam filter system. They think the secondary filter was catching airage.com as if it were a spam server. Mike RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. [RCSE] subscribing
I seem to have been unsubscribed at the new year. I have tried resubscribing but I am not getting messages sent to me. I am able to post though. [RCSE] Multiplex/Royal hobbies/Karlton
"Hitec managment has decided only our last order to Multiplex will be honored. This last order had all our back orders included. As of today we cannot be sure we can fill any further orders for Multiplex products." Karlton, Does this mean that Multiplex is being shutdown, or just not imported to the US? Will Ernie still be doing repair? Will Tom Hoopes be finishing the glider update for the Cockpit? Can we order Multiplex stuff from Hitec? Is the sky falling? Re: [RCSE] Where are the North Bay Soaring sites?
I have not flown there, but I seem to remember cliffs with road access at Dillon Beach, west from Petaluma. I recall a large sort of subdivision thing on the hill that seemed to be owned by people who only used the homes for vacations. As usual for the central/northern coast of Cali, the weather is best in the fall, like now, but the vacationers come in the summer(cold/foggy) season. The place will probably be empty! And, flying or not, very beautiful coastline. As far as Goat Rock goes, it is west of Geurneville. I have been rock-climbing at the site but not flying, but there are really nice ocean cliffs there. Re: [RCSE] Digital 'Wing' servos
Gordy, What's your source for this? I would be interested in reading this study. I imagine the researchers, like myself, were/became interested in the compensatory mechanisms for people over forty who perform critical tasks like surgery, etc. Gordy wrote, "Keep in mind that after the age of 40 we can't move our thumbs in less than 1/8" increments, and if you were to watch anyone's stick movements during a flight, you will be hard pressed to find a movement that is less than than anyway." Check out the Yahoo CNC group. My CNC will be based around heavy duty full extension drawer slides and a camo painted PC monitor I got from a young friend! Very low key... [RCSE] Nemesis CG
Well, I have finally gotten my Nemesis resurection in the air. The 3 piece fuse is now 1 piece! The wing tips are still a bit creased, but it flies. I have the CG 3 inches, 76mm from the LE Per F3X.com recommendation. Seems good, but only one flight in light lift. Is anyone flying a different/better CG for comparison for this plane before I permanently affix the nose weight? Mike Freshwater CA RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Re: [RCSE] Re: AMA Safety Code..reply
I believe the importance of the powered combat group being involved has been missed by this writer. My understanding of the powered combat situation is that the AMA made an early ruling in their aspect of our hobby (wihthout the knowledge of the combat community) based on a provisional set of rules the powered combat people were working on at the inception of their competitions. This could have severly stifled growth in their competitions and was later changed by AMA. I think the powered combat people want to help keep us glider folks from winding up in a similar restrictive situation. We can learn from their experience and we have benefitted from their help. [RCSE] Duster
Which mag did I see this plane in? I think it was a full scale homebuilt. One of the RC glider mags had some info? I think it was RCSD but I can't find it in my 5 or 6 stacks of mags strewn around the house. Help Mike RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Re: [RCSE] Making a rubber ducky
I was hoping this would be a simple matter of wrapping some wire around a f/g tube and covering it with shrink tubing, maybe a little hassle with a connector or some other doodad, but oscilloscopes? [RCSE] EPP 2 meter wing
I am developing a 2 meter thermal duration plane for myself and was wondering what sort of wing construction people are using for EPP 2 meter planes. I imagin I will go with a polyhedral at first to keep things simple. I am interested in spar types, trailing edge, etc. MIke in Freshwater CA RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. [RCSE] Eclipse
While I was away on vacation, by the way I am back! I was reading an article on the new Hitec Eclipse and was wondering if anyone on the list had more to say about this Tx. It sure looked like it would fit the bill for the more frugal among us. It sounds like you can't re-assign functions to different sticks but it does seem like you can get it to do most things we need for slope racing and TD. I do not yet fly 6 servo ships but I would like to soon, so I have been eyeing this Tx and the Futaba 8UAF. Any comments other than, "don't be such a cheap bastard, just but the Stylus!" ? Good thing she's quick (and very alert when Rockett Crockett is flying!) I watched my friend Ron's car (granted it was a Sprint sized auto) literally get blown sideways on top of Bear River Ridge one day! He sure put a LOT of lead in the SR-7 that day. I think I have settled on an anemometer design I found at http://www3.sympatico.ca/jbremner/wind.html I happen to have all the parts for it! I'll let the list know how it turns out. Re: [RCSE] Gonna Be Another Killer Day At Coyote
I always seemed to crash my planes on the front side at Coyote! Buried my Gryphon up to the wings after getting confused trying to do my first outside loop! I do remember once launching my Wanderer with the switch OFF and it just happily circled back and out of site. Didn't get as far as the old quarry pond but did land a few hills away! If I remember right the rotor issues at Coyote are why they banned hang gliding there after a (fatal?) accident. Mike in Arcata CA RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. [RCSE] Focus 3 and 'rang
OK, we have gotten the servos into the boomerang wing and will be using the focus 3 with "mixing". As people with this setup know the servo arms travel below the level of the foam. Other than not moving the sticks as far, are there any ways to ameliorate this condition? Or is it that much of a problem? I have thought about not mounting the servos as deep, cutting a channel for the pushrod to move in, bending the pushrods to clear the foam. Any advice or other suggestions would be welcomed. Mike in Arcata BTW I have a 'Rang of my own that I use a computer mixed radio with. RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. [RCSE] Pull-Pull
Flyers, Thank you all for your answers to my focus3 questions. I am venturing back into HLG again and wanted to try pull-pull for elev and rudder again. I did not have huge success in the past. I was interested in other peoples methods. I have tried winding the thread around the servo arm screw to lock it in place(always slipped) as well as tying a knot at the arm(hard to get the "right tension" what are the tricks that work?
