[freenet-support] Error

2012-07-25 Thread ITALO AYALA
Good morning...
I've been experiencing the same errors more than once and would like to know
how to solve it.
Every time I try to start Freenet, pops a text window saying: Freenet Launcher
was unable to the Freenet node at port .
And, now and then, pops another one with this text: The Freenet Launcher
terminated unexpectedly.

Looking forward to solve it.
Thank you.___

[freenet-support] Error.

2001-09-18 Thread Goh Chin Hong

Hi,

I have just installed Freenet but ran into the following problem. First, I
tried to use the web interface via http://127.0.0.1:8081/ but it said that
the requested url could not be retrieved.

I tried localhost:8081 and managed to get the page. However when I try to
search any key or try any of the links below it will either give me a page
not found error or network error, couldn't retrieve key, hops to leave
etc.

Has it to do with a firewall at my university that is preventing me from
using Freenet.

Pls help. Thanks a lot!

Eeeek! That's a really wierd one. Make absolutely sure that there weren't two
copies of Freenet running at the same time, then register an account on the bug
tracker and report a bug including this stack dump and preferably wrapper.log
and any ERRORs related in logs/.

Can you reproduce this bug on demand or is it just something wierd that
happened once?

If you could post your wrapper.log that might be helpful (in the wrapper\
folder in the folder freenet was installed to).

Do you have java installed? (A Microsoft one will not work with freenet)
If not, java.sun.com should have a jvm for download on their site.

[freenet-support] Error Connecting

2005-01-05 Thread Isaac Lockett
Title: Error Connecting

Hey, sorry I’m completely new to this project, and I’ve found no way to connect to the network. Everything is set up, and I can open the web interface in a browser (Firefox) but none of the links work. Eventually I reach a page that says Route Not Found and it recommended me to contact this address. I am running freenet on Mac OS X, through the Unix terminal, and have a router with no firewall. Please reply soon, Isaac

[freenet-support] error (java?)

2005-06-04 Thread 4321fred1234
I tried to install freenet on an old AMD K6 300 Mhz - PC (debian, blackdown
java, both newest versions).

However, I get this error when starting freenet:

Jun 4, 2005 12:46:52 PM (freenet.node.Node, main, ERROR): Encountered an unexpe$
java.io.IOException: Value too large for defined data type
at sun.nio.ch.FileChannelImpl.lock0(Native Method)
at sun.nio.ch.FileChannelImpl.tryLock(FileChannelImpl.java:803)
at java.nio.channels.FileChannel.tryLock(FileChannel.java:967)
at freenet.node.Node.init(Node.java:3591)
at freenet.node.Main.main(Main.java:476)

What should I do? Is that already a new freenet-version? (downloaded yesterday)

Another question: When I tried freenet on a differnet, faster PC (but also
quite low bandwith) it also hung after about 10 hours, with a lot of java-
Processes still running, but all as zombies, so I had to restart that PC every
time, because freenet said it is already running when I tried to restart it.
Is that a known problem?
(on that PC, also new debian, the log was always full of errors, hundreds of
unexpected values and so on, is that usual? But while it ran, it had always a
constant in and out bandwith and transfered exactly the amount of data I
allowed, so there wasnt much wrong exept it always hang up after some hours.)

Thanks

Check your wrapper.log file in your freenet directory. That will
provide specific details as to what is missing.

Known bug, sorry, should be fixed by 1210 when it is released.

[freenet-support] Error loading KeyExplorer

2009-05-15 Thread websponsor
I got this error : Le plugin KeyExplorer n'a pas pu être chargé : could not
find class def, may a missing lib?

I've tried reinstalling Freenet but I always got this error.
I think I've miss something, It's a fresh new install of Debian Lenny.

Thanks for help

Looks like that db4o database file (node.db4o.crypt) was corrupted. I
believe this is a known (and very annoying) bug. Try to
move/rename/delete that file, and restart your node. You will lose your
downloads/uploads queue, but not much else.

Re: [freenet-support] Error Connecting

2005-01-05 Thread Toad
Hi. You have installed Freenet, and you go to http://127.0.0.1:/
(Web Interface), and the bookmark links don't work?

Several obvious things:

- Click Advanced mode
- Click on Open Connections, and send us the top few lines - how many
open connections, inbound, outbound and total, how many transfers, and
  so on.
- You need to forward the listenPort on the router. This is the FNP
port, not the FCP port (8481) or the web interface HTTP port ().
The FNP port varies on each node to make it harder to block Freenet.
However if you go to the Environment page and look for the
"Transports" box, and the "Current IPv4 port", the port number is
there. Forward that, so you can receive connections; this will make it
a lot easier for freenet to integrate into the network
- Assuming it has some connections, let it run for a couple of days
uninterrupted, and it should learn its way around the network and be
able to find content. It will take some time for it to be a fully
integrated node with optimal performance. You may want to try prodding
it with Frost ( http://jtcfrost.sf.net/ ), a messaging (like usenet)
and filesharing app that runs over Freenet.

"Forward it" by configuring your router. Not "forward it to the list."

I guess I expected unloading and reloading the plugin to fetch the
latest version, but that just leaves me with 0.2. Where can I download
the latest one? I googled a bit but am only finding SVN logs :E

It might be a caching problem. Try unloading it (check the box to remove the
file as well), restarting your node, then loading it. Does that get the
latest version??

Check your wrapper.log file in your freenet directory. That will
provide specific details as to what is missing.

Ugh. Can you check whether your disk is full or nearly full please? It looks

[freenet-support] Error when starting up

2002-06-29 Thread Jarle Aase

Hi all,

I'm having some problems getting started with freenet. I have set up a
server with Debian GNU/Linux "Woody", and downloaded the latest snapshot of
freenet. I've the run ./update.sh.

The first time it runs, it will create the storage file and it _seems_ to be
doing well. That is. I'm unable to fetch anything. When I start it again,
it bails out with the error below.

I've tried the packaged version for Debial Linux, but it seems to have
similar problems. It will only run the first time it's started.

[freenet-support] error while opening freesites

2004-07-22 Thread M. Seredszun
If im trying to open a freesite i mostly get an errormessage like:

Couldn't retrieve key:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]/BPC/3//*
Hops To Live: *15*

Error: *Route Not Found*
Attempts were made to contact 1 nodes.
   * 0 were totally unreachable.
   * 0 restarted.
   * 1 cleanly rejected.
Route Not Found messages mean that your node, or the rest of the
network, didn't find the data or enough nodes to send the request to.
You should retry, with the same Hops-To-Live; if it persists, there may
be a problem (check that your internet connection is working). Try
reseeding your node, and if that doesn't work, contact

[freenet-support] Error: Route Not Found

2004-08-06 Thread Arralen
Hello !

Some time ago, freenet worked just fine on my machine. Didn't use it
for over a year or so (and did some software installs etc.), and all of
a sudden I'm stuck with the "Route not Found" Error.

I'm running W2kSp4(Ge) with Internet Connection Sharing, Kerio Firewall
2.1.5 (can't run v4, because the free version doesn't support ICS) on
DSL connection with PPPoE driver.

Upgraded to latest freenet version (clean install), no difference.

Have blocked ports 7,9,13,17,19 for all,
23,135-139,389,445,593,1002,1026,1720,5000, 5554, 9996 for internet
connections for security reasons.

Any idea what's going wrong?

Thanks

[freenet-support] Error, No address found

2004-12-17 Thread gouda . nuff
I don't know why I just started receiving these errors. I have a fixed
IP address in my .conf file so I have no need for an IPAddressDetector.

btw, how does that IPAddressDetector work? Does it send out a request
to some unknown destination and use the address that it receives in the
response?

[freenet-support] Error: node states overflowed

2005-02-19 Thread 4321fred1234
Hello!
My node hasn't run for a long time now, but both times I started it until now,
the same odd thing occured:
In the first 2 hours, it produced quite much traffic (ca. 100 GB/hour), but
then it went nearly dead (1 MB/hour).

My seednodes.ref is about 11MB, same thing with my seednodes.ref.old.

Here my log: (I don't know if thats all, I just listed the first page)

[freenet-support] Error installing on Windows XP

2006-06-17 Thread Sonu Sandhu

Hi,

I can't get Freenet 0.7 to install on Windows XP. At first I got this
message:

Unable to locate tools.jar. Expected to find it in C:\Program
Files\Java\jre1.5.0_07\lib\tools.jar

antinstaller.jarC:\selfextractpack.jar

pre:
   [unjar] Expanding:
C:\DOCUME~1\MyLogin\LOCALS~1\Temp\antinstall0\"C:\selfextractpack.jar" into
C:\DOCUME~1\MyLogin\LOCALS~1\Temp\antinstall0

I searched for tools.jar in my Java folder and found a copy in my JDK, so I
tried copying it over to \jre1.5.0_07\lib\ and tried again. This time I
received this error:

antinstaller.jarC:\selfextractpack.jar

pre:
   [unjar] Expanding:
C:\DOCUME~1\MyLogin\LOCALS~1\Temp\antinstall0\"C:\selfextractpack.jar" into
C:\DOCUME~1\MyLogin\LOCALS~1\Temp\antinstall0

I then tried reinstalling the most recent JRE and got a really long
exception message which sums up to:

org.tp23.antinstaller.InstallException: Error running the install
...
Caused by: jar:file:/C:/selfextractpack.jar!/build.xml:36: Error while
expanding
C:\DOCUME~1\MyLogin\LOCALS~1\Temp\antinstall\"C:\selfextractpack.jar"

...
Caused by: java.io.FileNotFoundException:
C:\DOCUME~1\MyLogin\LOCALS~1\Temp\antinstall\"C:\selfextractpack.jar" (The
filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect)

I'm assuming the error has something to do with the:
\Temp\antinstall\"C:\selfextractpack.jar", but there's nothing I can do
about that near as I can figure.

I've tried using the web installer, which didn't work on the first try, but
did work after I tried using C:\selfextractpack.jar downloaded from
downloads.freenetproject.org/alpha/. I also tried the freenet.jnlp, but
with the same result. I tried both online and offline - beginner and power
user options.

So, I'm finally out of ideas. Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: [freenet-support] Error: Route not found

2012-12-06 Thread Steve Dougherty
Your bandwidth limits are far too low. They are in bytes/s, not KB/s. Try
increasing them with that in mind. The relevant settings are under
Configuration > Core Settings.

[freenet-support] Error messages in wrapper log

2013-02-08 Thread Mel

Hello,

The newer versions of Freenet are giving errors that I am not sure are
safe. I have checked some of the archives but could not find the exact
answer. A portion of my wrapper log is below. This is on a Vista 32bit
machine with all updates as far as I can tell. The main questions are
the warning about the wrapper jar and JVM being different, and having
only some level of anonymity.

Thanks for your help.

What operating system are you using?

Try to find Freenet's wrapper.log file, and see what it says near the
end.

[freenet-support] Error installing on Windows XP

2006-06-17 Thread Sonu Sandhu
Hi,

I can't get Freenet 0.7 to install on Windows XP. At first I got this
message:

Unable to locate tools.jar. Expected to find it in C:\Program
Files\Java\jre1.5.0_07\lib\tools.jar
antinstaller.jarC:\selfextractpack.jar

pre:
[unjar] Expanding:
C:\DOCUME~1\MyLogin\LOCALS~1\Temp\antinstall0\"C:\selfextractpack.jar" into
C:\DOCUME~1\MyLogin\LOCALS~1\Temp\antinstall0

I searched for tools.jar in my Java folder and found a copy in my JDK, so I
tried copying it over to \jre1.5.0_07\lib\ and tried again. This time I
received this error:

antinstaller.jarC:\selfextractpack.jar

pre:
[unjar] Expanding:
C:\DOCUME~1\MyLogin\LOCALS~1\Temp\antinstall0\"C:\selfextractpack.jar" into
C:\DOCUME~1\MyLogin\LOCALS~1\Temp\antinstall0

I then tried reinstalling the most recent JRE and got a really long
exception message which sums up to:

org.tp23.antinstaller.InstallException: Error running the install
...
Caused by: jar:file:/C:/selfextractpack.jar!/build.xml:36: Error while
expanding
C:\DOCUME~1\MyLogin\LOCALS~1\Temp\antinstall\"C:\selfextractpack.jar"
...
Caused by: java.io.FileNotFoundException:
C:\DOCUME~1\MyLogin\LOCALS~1\Temp\antinstall\"C:\selfextractpack.jar" (The
filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect)

I'm assuming the error has something to do with the:
\Temp\antinstall\"C:\selfextractpack.jar", but there's nothing I can do
about that near as I can figure.

I've tried using the web installer, which didn't work on the first try, but
did work after I tried using C:\selfextractpack.jar downloaded from
downloads.freenetproject.org/alpha/. I also tried the freenet.jnlp, but
with the same result. I tried both online and offline - beginner and power
user options.

So, I'm finally out of ideas. Any help would be much appreciated.

[freenet-support] Error message on Freenet startup

2001-04-28 Thread Roger Harrison

Hello

I've just downloaded the JRE (1.3.0_02) from Sun's website, also Freenet
ver 0.3.8.1 and installed both (JRE first) on a 120 MHz Pentium laptop
running Win98.

When double clicking on the Freenet taskbar icon, a message appears:
'http://localhost: 8081' - ERROR: Your browser could not be opened with
the address specified above. Please ask [EMAIL PROTECTED] for
help.

I'm running Netscape v4.7, with a 56k dial-up modem connection to the
internet, and in Netscape preferences, under Advanced, Proxies, I have
selected 'Direct connection to the internet'.

If I retry running Freenet by running the file 'fserve.exe', it brings
up a window titled "Freenet node 0.3.8", with two menu headings (File &
Help), and the words 'Node running' in the window.

Can you help me to use Freenet with my browser please?

During the Freenet install, when the DOS window is rapidly flashing by a
lot of text, I noticed a sentence beginning 'Couldn't find ...'.

Also, I'll attach the Freenet.log file below.

Thanks very much - I'm very excited about this project!

Cheers
Roger Harrison

Java
Freenet requires that Java is installed on your computer. While we are working
to ensure that Freenet can work with free JVMs such as Kaffe, currently we
suggest that users download Sun's 1.4 JVM from here for reliability, speed,
and stability reasons.

RE: [freenet-support] Error when starting up

2002-06-30 Thread u Uler

Jarle,

Hello. I'm more familiar with the windows distribution of Freenet, but I may
be able to help you solve your problem. First of all, it is normal for a
node to not be able to download anything at first. It takes some time for a
node to be integrated into the network. Also, you have to make sure that
your node has a sufficient amount of node references in it's seed file. You
can check this by looking in your seednodes.ref file located in the main
Freenet directory. If you don't understand what you're looking at, and easy
way to count the references your node knows is the count the number of times
the word "signature" comes up. When you first install your node, it most
likely only knows one other node. You must download the "default seeds" as
well as any others you can get your hands on.

After you have a sufficient amount of references (about 30 is good), just
run your node for a while. Keep it on over night. Keep trying it and it
should work eventually.

Okay, now I'll get into the part where your node just doesn't work. This
error that you reported bothers me:

> 30-Jun-02 3:47:03 AM (freenet.node.rt.DataObjectRoutingStore, main): bad
> reference while resolving: 0x0 : d1d585f4b776ecc9667c1701a654ca01bf146134
> freenet.node.BadReferenceException: NodeReference self signature check
> failed.

Truthfully, I'm not sure what it means. But it has something to do with your
node's own nodereference, which is located in the myOwn.ref file in the main
Freenet directory. If you keep getting this kind of error AND your node
doesn't start working after you've tried the above, you may want to consider
DELETING the myOwn.ref file WHILE YOUR NODE IS TURNED OFF. When you restart
your node, this file should be recreated correctly.

Obviously, there is a chance that none of my suggestions will work. It that
case, you may want to consider completely removing your installation and
starting again from scratch. Also, if you want you can send me the following
files so that I can check your configuration and see if it is nominal:

freenet.conf
myOwn.ref
seednodes.ref

Also, you can tell me what the size of the following files are, BUT DON'T
SEND ME THE ACTUAL FILES:

node_16966
store_16966

The numbers will of course vary with what port you are running on.

Feel free to send me any additional snippets of your log file that concern
you.

Good luck, Wesley.

I think the error message quoted above is actually being produced while
Freenet is processing the seednodes.ref file, which contains a list of
node refs (public keys) for *other* nodes. One or more of the node refs
in that file is probably corrupted, which causes Freenet to ignore it,
and to produce that error message. If I'm right, then we can safely
ignore the message.

> Truthfully, I'm not sure what it means. But it has something to do with your

The file myOwn.ref is created by the Windows installer as a convenience
for people who want to share their node reference with others. That file
is not read by Freenet at all.

The node's private key is in the node_X file. That is the file
that Freenet reads upon startup. The myOwn.ref file is basically
the public key which matches it.

> If you keep getting this kind of error AND your node
> doesn't start working after you've tried the above, you may want to consider

That will have no useful effect. Also, I'm pretty sure that Freenet
will *not* re-create that file automatically simply by being executed.
You'd have to use the --export switch:

Command-line switches
-
  -h|--helpprints this help message
  --system prints JVM properties
  -v|--version prints out version info
--manual prints a manual in HTML
  -x|--export |- exports a signed NodeReference
-s|--seed |- seeds routing table with refs
  -c|--configgenerates or updates config file
-p|--paramFile path to a config file in a non-default location

If you just install Freenet's jar files on a Unix box and set it up
according to the readme files, you don't get a myOwn.ref file. You
have to run "CLASSPATH=mumble java freenet.node.Main --export myOwn.ref"
to get one. The Windows installer does that for you.

[freenet-support] Error Messages on freenet node

Please can you help!
I had just started freenode successfully and was waiting for the gateway

successfully but then when I went back to the index and tried to open
another page I was refused access - since then I get this error message when
I try to open freenet. I have tried reloading freenet and java but still get
the same problem.
I really like the idea of real net freeedom and have allocated 3Gbts to the

2005-02-19 Thread Matthew Toseland
This is on crazy-high-bandwidth?

Suggest you increase the messageStoreSize (this will use more RAM...) if
you want to get rid of the messages... otherwise, just make the node
handle less requests.

It is possible that this is due to a bug. But it's definitely some sort
of overload problem.

So you downloaded freenet-unstable-latest.jar and got the below? You
sure it's not a corrupt jar? How big is it? At the moment we recommend
people use stable.. there will be a 0.7 beta eventually...

Re: [freenet-support] Error messages in wrapper log

2013-02-08 Thread Dennis Nezic
I assume you mean the "Database corrupted" message? I wonder how
serious it is -- if freenet was able to recover from it. Can you
download files?

The generic answer to such database corruptions is to get rid of (or
move) node.db4o*, which will also get rid of your download/upload
queues.

This is a known problem with Freenet's usage of the wrapper. I've lost
track of what's holding up an upgrade at this point.

This is the part you mention as "only some level of anonymity?" It's an
inherent property of the network that if someone malicious is able to
directly connect to your node they can get more information than you'd
like by virtue of routing a large portion of one's requests.

This is why darknet is better than opennet: if you know someone
personally they're much less likely to be malicious than some arbitrary
person your node automatically connects to as part of opennet.

Does that answer your questions? Please let me know if that raises
anything unclear or surprising.

Steve

Did the "gateway page" turn up in the browser anyway? You might want to download the
0.3.9.1
version of Freenet, besides some bugfixes it contains a new implementation of the
system tray icon.

You don't need to do this is you have the system tray icon (hops) visible in the
system tray

Do I need a dynamic DNS service? What is that? How can I get one? I am sorry to be
so ignorant but there is no other way to learn, isn't there?

Thanks beforehand.

[freenet-support] Error Report, 60006, start failed, reseeding

2004-03-13 Thread Rudolf Krist
Starting of an unstable node failed (reseeding)

Details
I have got 2 computers in a small network. On one pc I already run a
unstable node for a long time. Now I wanted to setup an a second node on
an other pc, so I installed an stable node with freenet-webinstall.exe
there. I also downloaded the noderefs.txt(?minCP=0.05&minConnections=1)
from my running node and saved it in freenet-node folder of the other
node as seednodes.ref. Then I replaced the freenet.jar file with the
unstable one and started freenet.exe. The result was a
java.lang.NullPointerException, for more details see the attached cutout
of the logfile.

I also tried out to save the seednodes.ref as PC ASCII Format, or
download the seednodes from the webserver, nothing was helpful.

This behaviour is always reproduceable. Stable jar-file starts without
any problems.

Plattform: WinXP Pro
JVM: 1.4.2_03-b02
Freenet: Fred,0.6,1.50,60006,CVS:1.704
Reproduce Steps:
1. Install stable node with freenet-webinstall.exe
2. Replace freenet.jar with freenet-unstable-latest.jar
3. Run freenet.exe
RESULT:
Starting fails, java.lang.NullPointerException

It's not running in sun java, at least not using the sun java classes.
Check your classpath.. test java -version to see what java is being
used by default.

What OS, what version of freenet? That error seems to come when freenet
is unable to create directories. Perhaps you have to strict permissions
in the freenet directory.

No need... you can see clearly that you are not running in sun java from
the fact that the above message says "Kaffe Virtual Machine" rather than
"Sun Java". Use Sun Java instead. Currently, as far as I am aware, only
Sun Java is capable of running Freenet reliably, due to freenet's reliance
on fairly recent java functionality.

How do I use Sun Java instead? As root I installed it in
/usr/local/j2re1.4.2_04
Again using Debian-sid & 2.6.3 kernel
