Was there a glitch in mozilla.dev.apps.seamonkey? Kaiser's original
message and every reply appears twice.

That is interesting, I just installed this in Ubuntu 9.04, and so far,
it seems to be working. Didnt know it worked on Linux.

Feel quite pleased with myself that I got it working. Now all I have to
do, is manage to work out how to update, when new updates come though.

2.0 RC1 theme

On installing RC1 the theme changed. The familiar icons for browser,

If we would release this RC as final, the release would be roughly a

number of assorted fixed, and I hope that one can become the actual
final around October 21.

Apparently this still isn't the official release version?

It could be, but it might not yet be - that's what RCs are for, to get
some wide testing and last-minute reports of problem so that we see if
we can release exactly this build or need to do another one with some
last-minute bug fixes.

Hopefully that will include the Address Book opening problem I still have with
RC1? :) The personal address book is selected, but won't open when I select
the Address Book from the tool bar.

This is my earlier message about it and Jens reply below:

I should have said "when I am composing a message"... the following
happens:

When I click the "Address" icon on the toolbar, the address book opens to
two "blank" fields. I have to click to open the drop down menu with
"Personal Address Book" and "Collected Addresses"; then click to select
my "Personal Address Book", to get the names in my address book to
appear.

In previous versions of SM, my addresses would be displayed when I
clicked on the toolbar icon for "Address", because the "Personal Address
Book" is *already* selected.

In this case it was an obvious (JavaScript Debugger FTW) oversight so chances
are the fix will still make 2.0.

Not sure what OS you have, but if it's a recent version of Windows you
should be able to do it this way. The directions below are for WinXP,
but you should be able to understand and adapt them for other versions.

Start | Set Program Access and Defaults
The dialog opens with "Add or Remove Programs" selected. Under "Custom,"
click the double-V symbol at the right to expand this section. Under
"Choose a default Web browser:" click the radio button for SeaMonkey, OK
out and you're done.

OR

Start | Control Panel | Internet Options
On the "Programs" tab, choose your favorite programs from the various
pull-down lists. Click "Apply," OK out, and you're done.

You should be aware that each time you update your Office software
through Microsoft Update or Office Update, MS will steal the browser
and/or email setting and you'll have to choose SeaMonkey again.
Fortunately, SM will alert you to the theft the next time you launch it.

trouble getting Sun Java to work w/SeaMonkey 2.0, I've found the
following works for me:

$ sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin
$ cd ~/.mozilla
$ sudo ln -s /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins ~/.mozilla/plugins
$ cd /user/lib/mozilla/plugins
$ sudo ln -s /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so

Restart SM 2.0 and you should then see
Java(TM) Plug-in 1.6.0_15
Filename: libnpjp2.so
The next generation java plug-in for Mozilla browser

You can test at http://java.com and select the 'Do I have Java' link.

Correction: should be:
cd /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins

However, the icons move around when I open messages, and when I close them,

I see that the order of task icons is wrong in standalone message windows
(Composer, AB, cZ, Mail, Browser instead of Browser, Mail, Composer, AB, CZ
as in the rest of the application). Is that what you see? I see the above on
WinXP, haven't checked Linux yet.

Yes, that's what I see in WinXP2... with messages opened. It switches when I
compose mail or go back to the main window, to Browser, Mail, Composer, AB, CZ.

My compose and news/mail windows are just that way.
My Navigator window, however, has a block about 4 times thicker with a
small red chevron (up-arrow) near the bottom.

How do I get it back to normal? I've closed out the browser and
restarted, even re-installed Seamonkey.

Win7 rc
Seamonkey 1.18

John, this enlarged bottom section of the browser screen indicates that
one of the extension you have previously installed is not suitable for
your SM 1.1.18.

To test this, create yourself a test profile (Tool|Switch Profile|Manage
Profiles) and check that your Browser screen is normal, then install
each extension, one by one, checking each time to see if the screen has
fouled up yet.

As I typed this last para, I remembered that it is possible to install
extensions into a folder associated with the program or the profile! My
answer will only fix things if you have installed your extension into
the Profile.

The other way to fix things, for both profile and program folder
installations, is to install to programs, the extensionuninstaller and
the extensionuninstallerAPI (I think), which then allow you to activate
and de-activate extensions in your primary profile.

way to permanently increase text size?

2009-10-11 Thread Jim
Is there a way to permanently increase the text size for one profile?
125% is good.

My wife, who is Korean, is finally getting interested in using the
computer, and she can't see too well close up, because of her age.

Why does this happen?

What is different than the normal thing where I don't see it ?

I guess this "problem (?)" is now a non-issue since I will soon be
loading up SM 2.0

Think I will wait maybe a week or so to be sure all the "Bugs" are
removed.
