Composer doesn't support HTML *5* nor CSS, and as I remember, you can't even specify a modern DOCTYPE. I noticed your site doesn't use modern CSS at all. Do you know what CSS is? Another thing to consider is cross browser operation. The following is taken from: That's irrelevant to this discussion so far. Bluefish isn't related to Composer or BlueGriffon at all. It is an entirely different kind of tool. (I know; I use Bluefish.) If you looked at my web site first glance you would not be able to tell what I used to create it and most people will not care. Because I know how to write code I decided that I do not need CSS to create it. As far as HTML5 goes, most of the comments I have seen have been about how do disable it on web site folks have been visiting. Your are all hooked up on what Composer will not do for you instead of learning how to write HTML code yourself. With a book and a text editor you can write code to support any function you need. Heck, you can even Google for the function you are looking for and cut and paste it into your code and you will understand more of what you are putting together than having some program put something together that you do not understand and cannot debug or hook other code into. To answer your question, yes I know what CSS is, yes I know what HTML5 is and discovered that I do not need either to build a web site that conveys exactly what I want it to without a lot of gimmicky code which adds no value to me or to the person that visits my site. To steer back to the original point of the discussion, Composer is far easier to use and create WYSIWYG HTML pages than Blue Griffon is. Each time that I attempt toa delete it, I get a message on screen that it cannot be deleted. How can I actually delete it from my H.D.? Any help will be appreciated. Mort Linder 1 - Go to the Chrome directory. 2 - Do a 'Select all' (Control A). 3 - Right click on highlighted files and directories. 4 - Click on Delete. 5 - If you get the Admin Permissions error, go to the directory you get the error on and repeat steps 2 - 4. 6 - If you can delete all but one or two files in one or more Chrome sub-directories, do a system restart and repeat the process. Reason you cannot delete the root directory for Chrome is that some of the sub-directories use 'inherited permissions' and must be removed before the root directory can be removed. Start up Windows in 'Safe Mode with Networking' and then run Seamonkey and see what happens. Once I get my re-install of W7 sorted out I will do that. Thanks for the suggestion. However, I doubt that's the answer (although ('m more than willing to be surprised!). With SM NOT running at all I do not have this issue on the system. Nothing else hangs. Only SM and only when Mail/News is running. And also when Thunderbird is running and nothing else. It's something in the Mail/News core. As I mentioned before I was considering moving to Firefox and Thunderbird and quitting SM. So I tested it. As soon as I ran TB the problem arose. And, somtimes, it hangs the whole system. Can't toggle windows, click on the Taskbar, etc. Sometimes the SM windows (all of them) will either grey out or go totally blank for 5, 10, 15 seconds or more, their title bars say a Windows message of SeaMonkey is not responding, but eventually their video refreshes (like now!!!) and the windows are back to normal. and I can hear the PC fans ramp up and go wild as the CPU usage skyrockets. Almost seems like an interaction between my video card/drivers and SM. But I've been using this same card and drive since I upgraded to W7 in October '09. Just started this nonsense about 18 months ago. And it's getting worse. However, as I've said, no other apps cause anything like this on this system. Nor no other combination of apps. And it isn't happening on any of my other three systems in the house. This is maddening! BTW, I just clicked Send on this. The fans in my PC went nuts, SM froze. I opened Task Manager and SM CPU usage was crazy. It's settle down now, allowing me to type this. The fact that the problem is only encountered when mail/news are/is active suggests that something is actively monitoring those functions and in doing so causes an apparent Seamonkey 'hang' by removing the focus from Seamonkey while some checking is being performed (thus the cpu usage) which results in greyed-out options and the 'not responding' indication. As you have experienced, if you wait long enough, the focus comes back to Seamonkey and all is well. That is why the suggestion to run windows in 'Safe Mode with Networking' to eliminate most possibilities that it is a Windows security function causing the problem. -- Stan Gondek Multi Path Communications http://www.m-p-c.com ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

I had gotten behind in agreeing to the updates. Many of them are security related. Now, I am just too busy to be assessing and installing updates for all the OS, software, its components, antivirus anymore and need to have it done automatically. So thanks for your input. Anyone know where I can find the Java control panel so I can select auto-updates? A google search says Control PanelJava but I do not see it there. Dave Do a file search on your system for Javacpl.cpl. If found, click on it and it will bring up the Java Control Panel. If it is not found, check to see if Java is listed under Add/Remove Programs. If it is listed, uninstall it, then go to Sun.com and download the latest release of Java. Firefox/Thunderbird never felt comfortable to me since I knew Netscape better and so I stay here with Seamonkey. I'm asking all this because I'm currently questing why I am staying on Seamonkey. I like a few things about it over Firefox/Thunderbird but with 2.0 out and many extensions broken or no longer supporting Seamonkey - all of which still work in Firefox I'm questing why I'm so resistant to go over th Firefox. Seamonkey just isn't getting the support it did when it was still Mozilla Suite unfortunately (a fact I don't want to accept). I'm also still, on some computers, still a Eudora user even though that program, with all that is great about it, is getting almost to the point of unusable with poor current standards support. So perhaps I'm just an anachronism wishing still for the days of 110baud teletype BBSs again ;) Anyone want to wax philosophical about this? Hawker In two words...Integration and Options!! I originally purchased Netscape Navigator Gold as a development tool because it had the browser, HTML editor and mail all in one package. It also included a multitude of other applications. I stayed with Netscape 4.79 until the Mozilla Foundation brought out the Mozilla Suite because I did not like the newer versions of Netscape. I have always liked the installation options allowing me to install only the suite applications that I wanted keeping space requirements down and reducing the number of options in program menus. Because I download vast amounts of data, I really need all of the seemingly incidental options like being prompted to save a file to a default directory or a directory of my liking with a file name that I want as in SM 1.1.18. I love the ability to capture a web page I have uploaded to my web site and perform corrective / enhancement edits to it all in one environment. With over 60 online accounts that require user name and password entry, the password manager in SM 1.1.18 is absolutely indispensable. Because SM is used in a business environment here, stability is a must, and we have had that with Netscape, Mozilla Suite and SM up to 1.1.18. I am hopeful that once things settle down from the major changes that SM 2.0 required internally, and the volunteer staff catch their breath, we will see the return of some of our most liked options. -- Stan Gondek Multi Path Communications http://www.m-p-c.com ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

Re: file reading assignment?
Walter wrote: Well, in WinXP it's under C:\WINNT\Fonts\ (too obvious?), but if the problem is that SM is trying to read a file it should refer to a different program, fixing a putative font issue won't help. As Walter said earlier, it should be calling TablEdit, not trying to open the file itself. After a good deal of experimentation and analyzing I have come to the conclusion that: indeed SM calls TE which reads the file but it does not know where the font is to translate the data correctly, thus does the best it can to display the data it can, using regular font, i. e. the text in the file. I have copied the TE font to the TE program file(s) but so far have not found the correct one. The TE fonts are in the Windows font file so that is not the problem. Strangely, when I download .tef files from other sites, TE works OK. This leads me to believe there is something lost in translation to/from the http://everythingdulcimer.com/index.php?option=com_contentview=articleid=178Itemid=142 files. This continues to be a challenging situation and I appreciate all the help and suggestions from other interested people. Should I ever find a solution, I will try to remember to post it here. w. Not sure if you tried this yet. When you click on a saved .tef file in Windows Explorer does your TE program open the file? If yes then your TE program is the default Windows .TEF file handler. If no, you need to set that up via Windows File Manager Tools Folder Options File Types. If yes, you may also need to set up a 'Helper Application' definition in SM. Do that with SM Edit Preferences Navigator Helper Applications. Check the file list and see if there is an application listed to open a .TEF file. If not, you will need to define one so SM knows how to handle a .TEF file and /or which application to use. Just use one of the existing applications listed for a template. -- Stan Gondek Multi Path Communications http://www.m-p-c.com ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

Anyway, thanks for the nudge Lee Glad to hear it. With transferred profiles from here, its working just fine. Did you perhaps have an extension in SM 1.1.18 that allowed you to edit the context menus? Since the migration wizard does not tranfer extensions, that might have caused a glitch. That's a simple guess on my part. Lee Lee, found that in the Download section if you select 'Save File To' it does indeed change the 'Save Page As' to 'Save Page', 'Save Target As' to 'Save Target' and 'Save Image As' to Save Image'. It also disables your ability to select a location other than the one you selected as the default location. Selecting 'Always Ask Me Where To Save Files' restores the 'AS' option. In SM 1.1.18 you can specify a default download location AND have the download manager prompt you for an alternate location.
