Re: [Sursound] Trans-Dimensional Portal

2012-10-12 Thread Carsten Bohn

Hello Stefan !

Not that this is extremly important, but...

This list has an amazing side-effect, which is
: getting to know new words things that I
haven't heard as off now,
f.e. M?l?e : which Google translates in german
to something like fray in naval warfare? !?

M?l?e? Probably the French accents got lost, somewhere in America...
You meant Mêlée? O:-)

Sure I meant Mêlée and I did originally write it that way,
problem seems to be that Eudora (which I'm still using for some reasons ;-))
seems to modify text in certain ways that I haven't figured out yet !

Let's see how the word Séparée ends up in
quotes, if this mail gets any more attention,

which it shouldn't , cause there is alreadyenough mail out there and here 8-)

Now back to the important things in this forum

with surrounding regards
Carsten

not at all. if a facebook group works for some people, by all means go
ahead. it's not going to diminish the usefulness of this list.

the interesting question is (as usual) a technical one: how do i mirror
and archive a facebook group conversation?

note the solipsistic I as opposed to some ephemeral facebook inc. or
whatever...

and how do i a facebook discussion _thread_ in my client application of
choice without distracting blink?

as soon as someone answers these simple questions, i'm all gung-ho for
facebook, because i'm a sucker for targetted advertising:
yesterday, i ordered on ebay a rubber transmission belt for a 1970s EIKI
16mm film projector, and today, wherever i go, all adverts are about
transmission belts. that's sublime :-D

On FB, pages and groups are several. I just liked the page/interest you
referred to. What we just put up is a group where you can also talk
about things.

Naturally it would make sense to link those two constructs together.

This group might then benefit from an immediate mindmeld with ours. All

plus of course the other group deleted. Let's see if it can happen.

amuses me to do so. The most the profilers will get from me is random
pictures of cute animals, flowers, or views of Stourhead (ho,
dangerously valuable personal info there!), and the odd shared link of

It is rather alarming how insubstantial it all is--
google ,facebook, apple selling gadgets that are
really quite useless and google and facebook
making money on ads and no other way(google
sells how far up the search list you are but
that is ad stuff too in effect)
The whole USA and a good deal of the world economy
seems to be turning into castles in the air.

Do keep your membership here even if the Facebook group succeeds: groups
are better for lighter discussion and publicity. Mailing lists have
always been and will remain the right forum for sorting real,
scientific-technological, heavier thoughts out. There is no way Facebook
could ever support the kinds of discussions that are to be found in the
list archives.

That's good to hear, but it's one of my rules that I won't subscribe to

This list is not the place to explain why, but I must also mention
that I'm strictly non-Facebook. I hope that the results of the TDP
project will be available not only on FB...

This project is like my domestic ambisonics project; I postponed it
because of a lack of time and energy, but I already have most of the
hardware; 12 KEF satellites, D-class amps, a computer, a tutorial by
Jörn Nettingsmeier...
I planned to build 4 small near-field directional subs (ripols)
because I suspect that 3 KEF Kube-1 surround subs are not optimal for
ambisonics (I may be wrong, as often).
