Used to have that issue with WLM when I had Windows-7. Guessing it is
an Outlook problem.

Any ideas?

Hi,

I too used Eudora till just recently, when I was switching Internet providers,
and could not get Eudora to work. Certificate problems here too.

I reluctantly switched over to Becky, after giving the other email programs a
try. Becky seems to work the best, but it too has its quirks.

I never liked Thunderbird's Spell Checker, and Windows Live Mail just would
never cooperate. Probably a user with little patience just not giving WLM much
of a chance.
Becky is not Free, and will cost you about $40. It does have a 30 day trial
period, and the program will run after the 30 days are up, but will tell you
three times that Becky is Shareware and that you've gone over the 30 day trial
period. but, pressing the Enter key three times during its start up will get
you by these messages, and into the program.

Becky handles multiple email accounts, and sorts mail well too.

Becky is made by some good people in Japan, and there is the ocasional bit of
Asian Lodgic that will have you scratching your head, until you catch on. But,
all in all, Becky is working well for me, and I'll probably pay the $40 once I
figure out a few more things.

The program does have a Help file, and like most Help files, it does
tell you a little, but there are some questions you will need to use the
Trial and Error method to come up with an answer.

hit enter on the link. When I wanted to go back to the previous link, I'd
hit alt left arrow, once I was back at the previous page, I'd hit shift

Windows-t will get you to the task bar. You can use first letter navigation.
You can use first letter navigation on the desktop.
You cannot use first letter navigation in all apps.
However if you tab past the apps list, you can select a letter to work with
such as w. You can't first letter navigate there either.
To go back to the list of apps beginning with W just select it and shift-tab.

Bey, Bryce.

I found out accidentally that the backspace key will also take you to the
previous page. Try that, and, try using the WE redraw hot key, and, the F5
refresh key. Sometimes I have to resort to opening the history dialog and
finding my way back that way.

When hitting enter on a link and going to that page, how do you get back to
the previous link? Hitting alt left arrow hasn't work the way it use to for
a long time. I had a work around by copying the link to the clipboard then
hit enter on the link. When I wanted to go back to the previous link, I'd
hit alt left arrow, once I was back at the previous page, I'd hit shift
control F and paste the link from the clipboard and hit enter and I'd be
back at the previous link. This hasn't worked in the last 2 versions of
wineyes. Using current version of FX and wineyes. Vista home.

Ebay, and a linked Paypal account

2015-08-05 Thread Reg Webb via Talk
Hi all
Latest Firefox, Windows7 and W-E9.2.
My Ebay account is linked to my Paypal account. The confirm payment
page shows me my email address, and it just says Frame Paypal, or Paypal
document window. There is no visible edit box in which to enter my
password.
In IE, I get all sorts of nonsense about searching with Bing. If I
really persevere with IE, I can eventually persuade it to show me an
edit box for my password, but both browsers are irritating, although
Explorer worked eventually.
In addition, if you have something in your Ebay shopping basket, and
proceed to checkout with W-E on, Firefox crashes. With W-E switched
off, it does not crash.
Any thoughts?

Will it work on Vista? I ask because I have 9.1 on the vista laptop, and it

the download andthen I can't find it and I can't find the install shield

Next time I start the computer, it says 9.1 and tells me to download 9.2.

Hi Hui Thian

I do not know how the GW team have set the web site up.
It is quite possible for the site not to allow a download to a PC running
XP.

Why not download it to a PC running a more modern operating system?
Although GW do not support WE 9.2 on XP, you might then be able to move it
to that PC, having taken suitable back-ups first, and see if it will run on
it.
Bear in mind that if it fails you will need to use a different screen reader
solution to recover your speech output.
Note that this is not an approach I would advocate at all.

Windows-t will get you to the task bar. You can use first letter
navigation. You can use first letter navigation on the desktop.
You cannot use first letter navigation in all apps.
However if you tab past the apps list, you can select a letter to work with
such as w. You can't first letter navigate there either.
To go back to the list of apps beginning with W just select it and
shift-tab.

Problem with Window-Eyes Reload

2015-08-05 Thread Peter Duran via Talk
Hello

Occasionally in Word 2010, styles are read after their paragraphs instead of
before them. I correct this by reloading Window-Eyes via Ctrl + Alt + W; it
usually corrects the problem.

However, three times so far, a reload crashes the system and a continuous
high pitched squeal is heard. Only a power off works to recover.

P.S.

Occasionally window-Eyes says balloon window; how do you read and close
that window?

Pthanks, Peter duran

RE: downloading window-eyes 9.2

2015-08-05 Thread Steve Clower via Talk
Hello,

Yes, Window-Eyes 9.2 works on Windows Vista. If you are having difficulty
downloading the upgrade, you can try visiting the upgrade page at
www.gwmicro.com/upgrade, entering your serial number in the edit box provided,
and downloading the update. If that doesn't work, please give us a call and we
can get the file to you another way.

Window-Eyes 9.2 will not run on Windows XP.

Steve

Will it work on Vista? I ask because I have 9.1 on the vista laptop, and it
keeps telling me to download 9.2, but it never finishes. I get as far as
the download andthen I can't find it and I can't find the install shield
wizzard. It doesn't start up after it tells me it's finished downloading.

Please see the following extracted from the read me for WE 9.2:

   3. As of Window-Eyes 9.2, all legacy Windows XP support has ended. If
 you
wish to use Window-Eyes 9.2 and you are still running XP, you must upgrade

 I hope this helps.

From what I read, That is a legitimate feature.
The idea is that if you have a friend or relative who wants to log on

have to ask you for your password.
That scares me because of the security risk.

highlight key to alt-shift-H as you did, then closed the control
panel and opened a new message in Eudora. I entered the same text as
you and moved the cursor to the middle of the text. I then used the
numpad insert plus to route the mouse to the curser. Next I moved
the cursor to the beginning of the text using home and then to the
end of the text using shift end. Then I pressed my new hot key,
alt-shift-H and got only a beep--no announcement that the highlight
color was set. Either I am making a misstep or you left out a
step. Do you have a suggestion?

Dave, you wrote earlier, saying that Eudora was not reading text
selected with WE, 9.2. I tried selecting text and got the same
results. However, if you select with the shift and arrow keys, the
text is selected. Interestingly, if I select with shift end, the
selected text is read.

Brice,

This is a function of the browser. No matter how you get to a page,
Window-Eyes will start at the focused element. Most times when you hit
enter on a link and then go back to the page with that link the browser
will focus the link...sighted people want this as well. But, I've seen
IE get into a state where it won't focus the previous link. Even
without Window-Eyes I've seen this. I was never able to figure out what
specific setting was causing IE to stop doing this...or maybe there was
some sort of corruption. But I believe I fixed it by going to IE's
Internet Options dialog, selecting the Advanced tab, tabbing to the
Reset button and resetting all of IE's defaults. Once I did this and
restarted IE, it started focusing the link when I went back...both with
and without Window-Eyes. So I would give that a try.

if you do not give them your password on a home network they won't be able to

with guest access a password would not be required but they would not have

have to ask you for your password.
That scares me because of the security risk.

Brice,
I'm going to try doug's recommendation since I, too, have seen this behavior
since moving to IE 11. As another tip beyond the Shift F10 or cotext key

reasons, I also use the Visited link hotkey to at least advance over most of
the links, but I'll be really glad it Doug's suggestion works.

personal opinion is web access and functionality has digressed. I'd like to
know how you all get beyond that last link instead of going through links

When hitting enter on a link and going to that page, how do you get
back to the previous link? Hitting alt left arrow hasn't work the way
it use to for a long time. I had a work around by copying the link to
the clipboard then hit enter on the link. When I wanted to go back to

hasn't worked in the last 2 versions of wineyes. Using current version

Dave, you wrote earlier, saying that Eudora was not reading text
selected with WE, 9.2. I tried selecting text and got the same
results. However, if you select with the shift and arrow keys, the
text is selected. Interestingly, if I select with shift end, the
selected text is read.

yes 9.X is definitely a Problem Child. but I recall version 7 was a bit
of a fright as well.

Sorry to hear that 9.2 is still having issues.

According to some, 9.2 is working fine for them. but, I have seen this
before, as not all systems run the same software the same.

there were times I would be asked, by my Boss, to test the Companies latest
software, and I would find bugs, report them to the Boss. He would then
check them on his system using the same build of the software, and there
were times, he could find no problems. And yet on my system, I could
repeat problems.

i recall one time, we had a big big problem, but we could not duplicate
the problem on any system in the Company. And yet we had a problem. We
finally had a customer that had called in, that lived close to the shop
where we worked. i actually talked one of the programmers to go out to
the guys house and see what he could find. the programmer drove to the
customers house, and sure enough, he was able to figure out why our
program had issues. Came back, made a few adjustments in the code.
recompile and the big problem went away.

All Computers run Windows and the programs made for Windows. Just some
run them better than others.

Re: What is the find command to search for email using Windows Live Mail

2015-08-05 Thread Lloyd Rasmussen via Talk
When viewing the list of messages in a folder, start typing characters.
after you stop, WLM will build a list of messages containing that string.
Down arrow once for the first message in that temporary list. I think it's
pretty slick. In this method, you don't have much control over which parts
of a message will be searched, but I don't find this to be a problem. There
may be other ways of searching, but I haven't used them in WLM.

Good grief, why is this showing up now, posted this 6 m months ago. I
have since found a way around this. Problem is, the Dell doesn't have
stereo mix or anything like that.

Same with windows 10.

example if you want to record a tutorial. Just one example.

updated. At some point soon window-eyes will probably not work with it.
Windows 8.1 can be maid to look like xp for the most part using clasec
shell and old new explorer. Window-eyes works wonderful with clasec shell
and old new explorer will give you the menu system back in explorer and will
work wonderful with window-eyes. You will also have access to windows 8 apps
such as facebook window-eyes works like a dream with this app for example
this means you will not need to get apps like socialize.
You will have access to windows defender as well. A much better built in
speech synthesizer the ability to refresh your system with speech if need
be. The list of advantages goes on but I think we get the idea.
As I said I don't want to start a debate, but xp is old and really should
be updated to windows 8.1 if possible.
Most systems running xp will also run windows 8.1. unless it is a really old
box. This means if you can update you really should.

Hi

Just a note on mse - I still use a xp machine, and although the end of
support notice is there, mse still works on my xp machine. The definitions
are being updated, and all still works as expected. The only thing you will
see is that the pc status will show at risk, but I ignore that, and it is
still doing fine.

Actually this is not true. Many virus protection packages will
allow you to run them along side one another. Defender will not and
if you do run programs like this along side one another you are
asking for trouble.

Hi,
Generally, it is not recommended to have two real time antivirus
scanners running as this could create conflicts as well as slowing
down the computer.

2015-08-05 Thread Casey via Talk
Hi I am in the market for A better antivirus program to use on mutipal
computers.

That is user friendly with window-eyes.
I don't mind paying for A package Just as long as it does a good job and
getting rid of viruses.

I before switching to the Microsoft antivirus package.
I used to use Eset smart security.
Is that still good or is that interface not as good as it used to be?
The antivirus program that I would like to get hopefully won't be
processor intensive and slow the computer down to badly when it is
running or updating.
So any an all recommendations welcome and if you have the web site URLS
for what maybe recommended please pass them along as well also.

Help with Firefox 39, please?
