Mine will do that too, and also, if i don't touch my computer for like 5
minutes it starts saying window window window windo, over and over again.
Sometimes it is before a notification comes in, but most times, it is not.

2015-10-26 Thread Chris Grabowski via Talk
Go to apps/app management/app status and set it to on.

Sounds like it is off.
Control-backslash, alt-a, enter, enter, down arrow to on and enter again.

Hi Veronica,

Chris had said for you to press Alt-A when you're in the Window-Eyes control
panel.
This opens the Apps menu and highlights the first item, namely, App Management,
which is a pull-down menu.
At this point, up arrow will normally bring you to the bottom of the Apps menu,
since menus normally wrap around to the bottom when you press up arrow when
focusing the top-most menu item.
However, sometimes the menu will get stuck or not track properly.
In this case, you can always use down arrow to go all the way down the menu
until you find the menu item you need.
In this case, Window-Eyes Diagnostics is way at the bottom, and so pressing
down arrow will eventually get you there.
Here are the rest of Chris's instructions, which are still valid, however you
get to the menu item:
Arrow up to Window-eyes diagnostics and press enter.
Down arrow to refresh accessibility libraries and press enter.
Allow it to make the changes and reboot.

Good luck,

Rod

Subject: Info On Developing Accessible Webpages?

I have a situation here, where a local website is totally inaccessible with a
screen reader. Since it is in a Locale language, I am ready to say it would be
of little meaning to provide any link for the page, besides, you would need
some login info to get there. OK, still I wonder if someone could please point
me in a bit of a direction.

I want to give some info to the webmaster, on good developing practices, when
building accessible websites. I am NO webdeesigner myself, and the little I
have learned about the HTML or any other web-based development, likely won't be
of any help at all to the people behind this product. So my big query to you
all, would be if there is any good place on the net, to which I could point
them for further teaching. One thing is to get to a place that might give some
general terms, like "remember to put text on all buttons on the site", but I am
afraid that will be a bit too general for them to even bother redesigning their
product. What I hoped for, though, would be a place on the net, where you would
get more filling instructions - maybe even would be provided real-life examples
and sample code - for how to build good, properly working websites for the
visually impaired.I do know, there is a number of "web-design-teaching"
providers out there. In generally my impression of them is that they do know
little about accessibility, or at least don't cover it very well. Anyone here
having a clue of a good place to point the designers to?

Sure, I could have let them take a look on places like AISquare's homepage, to
let them see what it would look like. first of all, it would not tell them a
thing about how to accomplish the results we're asking, secondly, their product
is a different beast. It is more of an Online Restaurant, where you supposedly
are to pick and choose from some drop-down menus, and if you click your mouse
on some of the text, you will see what the individual dish is holding for
ingredienes. For one thing, WE does not recognize anything to click on, neither
does NVDA.
And you are not able to discern what you have marked out as rdered. They tell
that colors should mark what is supposed to be clickable, but how does that
help a visually impaired? And so forth. As you may understand, totally useless
the way it is designed right now.

I am already in dialog with the people, just need some educational material to
help them out in understanding both what we need for a design, and how to
practically attain such a website. Thanks for all ideas and pointers you may
have for us.

RE: viewing purchase history in itunes with window eyes.

2015-10-26 Thread Rod Hutton via Talk
Hi Sue,

I monkeyed around with this a bit, actually, quite a bit (smile), and I
found repeated text on the page and the text is "page tab."
If you place focus on the second one, route your mouse pointer to it, then
left-click it, and, finally, go out of and into browse mode again, you can
arrow down the page and see all of your purchases.
However, note that there are more of these page tab texts, and each of them
correspond to your purchases in each of the media categories, such as music,
tv shows, apps, etc.
Therefore, you get the idea.

Hth,

Rod

Subject: viewing purchase history in itunes with window eyes.

Hello. I was wondering when I do check out the purchase history in
iTunes with windoweyes, there is a page that comes up and it shows a
bunch of things and when I do arrow down to the most recent box, it is a
combo one, and it shows not all of my purchases, since I do hit enter
the tone for speech for browse mode is turned off, am thinking I might
see all of my purchases, but I do not. I even use the alt down arrow
combo thinking it might expand the most recent purchases since I would
like to see the list of my apps but it does not. The only thing am
getting is either most recent or name with in the combo box. I also use
the tab and or shift tab to see if any of them do show up so far only
one. However when I do use NVDA it works differently so when I do hit
enter on the most recent combo box I do see all of my purchased stuff by
using the tab or the down arrow keys cause it is saying group. I am
wondering how do you get all of my stuff to show up using window eyes?

Sometimes, alt-m, followed by the letter h, followed by enter, works.
You can also go directly to the context menu whichever way you generally
accomplish that task.

RE: Humanware Brailliant BI 40

2015-10-26 Thread Vaughan Dodd via Talk
Is trying a re-install of the driver under Windows Compatibility worth
attempting?

I admit to finding this very strange: I am fortunate in having several braille
displays, but not the Brailliant, and I have not had any driver installation
issues. A driver for 8.1 should work, if you can locate one.

Good luck.

Subject: Humanware Brailliant BI 40

Ever since I updated my computer to Windows 10, my Brailliant BI 40 has stopped
working. I finally called Humanware support, only to find out that they don't
have a driver yet for Windows 10. I find this very frustrating, since Windows
10 has been out since July. Window-Eyes still clears the display to blank when
loading, but no braille ever gets displayed. If you use this display and
having braille is important to you, don't upgrade to Windows 10 yet.
Unfortunately, the Humanware support person could not tell me when a driver
might be ready.

This failure on Humanware's part is frustrating and makes me very much
appreciate AISquare's policy of having new versions ready for a major release
of Windows.

RE: A question on word press access

2015-10-26 Thread Marc Solomon via Talk
Yes. I have helped out a client who uses Wordpress with Window-Eyes to manage a
blog. Overall, the default administrative dashboard for Wordpress is accessible
with a screen reader. It might take a little practice to get the hang of
though, as there are a lot of menus, interactive controls and dynamic content
to work with. If you are comfortable with HTML, using the Text Editor, will
probably give you a bit more control over the content compared to the Visual
Editor. Good luck!
Marc

Subject: A question on word press access

Hello List.
Does anyone with the Window Eyes program do any web development with
Word Press?
How is the access to the visual editer and its menus with Window Eyes?
Is the word press admin panel usable with Window Eyes?
Kenneth Son.

viewing purchase history in itunes with window eyes.

2015-10-26 Thread Sue J Ward via Talk
