Re: Window-Eyes for Office and Code Factory eloquence/Eloquence will not validate/says I need an Internet Connection

2020-10-09 Thread Rod Hutton via Talk
Hi Darrell,

My understanding was that the window eyes for office serial number was built in.
As I recall, going from memory, it was WEOFFICE.

I hope this helps, and good luck,

Rod

My other question is if I install window-eyes for office, will it still work
without a serial number?

If you are referring to a license for Eloquence for Window-Eyes for Office, you
can or could as I am not sure where Eloquence for Windows stands right now.

I have really enjoyed using it and I was using it with Narrator as well when I
needed to use Narrator.

I am going to wait a couple of days before I go buy another Eloquence for
windows License as I was fairly confident that I had not used all of my three
activations and I have another License I purchased for another computer and it
didn't work.

Here's the link:

https://nam10.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fcodefactoryglobal.com%2Fapp-store%2Feloquence-for-windowsdata=02%7C01%7C%7Cfa61fcde3e964dd921dd08d86bfe72ff%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435%7C1%7C0%7C637378087874858516sdata=DoBDHZKDzwN8Hzu41ehMPjArh8ZXlnYoIMsxEN5jK18%3Dreserved=0

How can I open the Windows Speech control panel to select Eloquence for Windows
as my default TTS?

It is located in a different place, depending on the version of Windows that
you have (often you can find it under the "Ease of Access" option in the
control panel). One universal way to access it is to type the following into
the Run prompt (which appears as an option after right clicking the Windows
Start button):

 %windir%\System32\speech\SpeechUX\sapi.cpl

Then, be certain to select SAPI under Synthesizers when switching a Screen
Reader from its Default Synthesizer to Code Factory Eloquence.

The subject says it all.

Occasionally, the purchased License of Eloquence for Windows will lose its
authorization.

I just apply my key and validate.

Today, I was unable to validate and I have one license on one computer.

The message: There's a problem activating your License. Make sure you have a

I certainly do have an always on type of Internet connection.

I am curious if anyone else has encountered this issue today or recently?

Code Factory seems to still be producing various versions of Eloquence as
there's now a version for NVDA, so I doubt they're out of business?

As we know, Code Factory are very hands off and do not offer much, if any,
technical support.

If anyone knows if the Eloquence for Windows Version 1.0 has been
decommissioned or otherwise, please share.

I have another license and tried it's key as here's two remaining uses and
still received the same error.

Any news, suggestions or otherwise are welcomed!

I've been using JAWS today and . Although I use it for work, I'd rather use
Window-Eyes for as long as I can but the Microsoft Voices lag in responsiveness.

Thanks and be safe all!

I have another license and tried it's key as here's two remaining uses and
still received the same error.

Any news, suggestions or otherwise are welcomed!

I've been using JAWS today and . Although I use it for work, I'd rather use
Window-Eyes for as long as I can but the Microsoft Voices lag in
responsiveness.

Thanks and be safe all!

Window-Eyes for Office and Code Factory eloquence/Eloquence will not validate/says I need an Internet Connection

2020-10-08 Thread Amanda Lee via Talk
The subject says it all.

Occasionally, the purchased License of Eloquence for Windows will lose its
authorization.

I just apply my key and validate.

Today, I was unable to validate and I have one license on one computer.

The message: There's a problem activating your License. Make sure you have
a working Internet Connection.

Unable to Install Window-Eyes for Office on a New Windows 10 Laptop

2019-10-07 Thread Amanda Lee via Talk
Hello,

I sure hope this isn't an ominous sign. I purchased a new HP AMD-Based
Laptop last month. Due to a busy work schedule, I just got around to
installing Window-Eyes for Office on it this past Sunday. I am a subscriber
to Office 365 and only have but 2 other devices under the entire account.

I was able to install Window-Eyes for Office and it was working just fine.
Then it wouldn't recognize certain apps/particularly Outlook Enhanced. I
tried rebooting and when I did, Window-Eyes indicated a referral from a
server or similar message. I tried a few times, thinking perhaps WE
couldn't verify my account albeit that's typically a different scenario and
related message as WE goes into demo mode.

I tried uninstalling Window-Eyes and couldn't even run the executable.

Is it permissible to have more than one device running Window-Eyes for
Office connected at the same time?

Otherwise, I've noticed that the site:

www.windoweyesforoffice.com <http://www.windoweyesforoffice.com>

now directs one to the AI Squared site and obviously they're probably not
maintaining the download there.

If anyone has any ideas, I'd appreciate knowing about them.

I do have JAWS Professional through JAWS 2019 but there are still certain
applications where I find Window-Eyes is a more accessible Screen Reader.

Kind regards,

Amanda Lee

RE: Weather Or Not - After Reinstallation of Window-Eyes For Office

2019-01-19 Thread Amanda Lee via Talk
This pertains for my personal computer.

I resolved the issue with Outlook not reading messages properly. I merely
performed a RESET of Settings:
Alt-f then arrow down to Reset settings and press
Of course then needed to reset speech settings but this certainly was worth
that minimal task.

I'll try another install of Weather Or Not.

Thanks for the offer and will respond if I can't resolve this on my own.

Kind regards,

Amanda Lee

Re: Weather Or Not - After Reinstallation of Window-Eyes For Office

2019-01-18 Thread Nick Sarames via Talk
I realize that this isn't the appropriate forum for the following
question (but it's where I was introduced to braille.wunderground.com),
but is there a comprehensive weather site that is easy to navagate with
a possibly outdated screen reader and Windows OS? Weather.gov is
confusing (at best) and Wunderground has its issues as well.

Weather Or Not - After Reinstallation of Window-Eyes For Office

2019-01-18 Thread Amanda Lee via Talk
First, I wish I would have thought to try the repair feature of WE Diag when
it wouldn't sync with my authorized version of Office.

So I resorted to reinstalling WE for Office and of course all of the Apps
which aren't standard were removed.

When I installed Weather Or Not, it now does not recognize
address/City/State or Zipcode. It was working earlier today before WE and
Office stopped working together.

I certainly have other resources for Weather but I very much enjoyed that
App to keep track of a few favorite places without having to click through a
number of webpages.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Kind regards,

Amanda Lee

Hi again everyone.

For any of you who have ever tried it, is the free Window-eyes for office
version 9.5.40 safe to use? I know they won't be upgrading it anymore being
that window-eyes has been discontinued, but at least its free and for those
of us who wish to can still at least have a working copy of Window-eyes that
actually works, for the time being, until we're forced to use something

Hello Doug.

Just a personal note, in which I acknowledge to you the dignity with which
you've handled the last few months.

I am genuinely sorry that Window-Eyes is no longer a work in progress.
It is true that I've been at the forefront of the criticism tossed at VFO
regarding its silence on matters pertaining to Window-eyes.

But I can say in all honesty that as I think the first person to benefit
from the VFO offer - it is a good faith one, and it looks as if access
technology and Windows through VFO might be entering a new and exciting
phase.

So again: a personal thanks for how you've been a positive influence in my
life through a great piece of software.

All the very best to you and the family for what is yet to come.

Re: a question about window-eyes for office

2017-05-15 Thread Chris Skarstad via Talk
Well, of course it's safe to use. I'm not sure why
anyone would think it wouldn't be safe?

Just keep in mind that if you use the free version, office has to be
installed. If it isn't, the free Window-eyes will fail to start.

If you're talking about safety with regards to updates to the software,
that unfortunately ended today.

9.5.4.0 is the final version of Window-eyes, and won't be updated going
forward. the only way to get a full version of JAWS is to actually
purchase it outright, and in that case I'd say get yourself a copy of
NVDA, which is free, and will work really well.

The above assumes that you're only using the free version. If you're a
paid user of Window-eyes and have remaining counts on your SMA, you can
fill out a form that will entitle you to a free copy of JAWS 18. You
can essentially cash in your SMA counts for a version of JAWS that is
brand new and will be updated going forward.

I hope that helps.

Hi,
After going to windoweyesforoffice.com are you selecting a language,
then pressing the download button?
When that happens, go to the bottom of the page and look for a download
Window-Eyes link.

I just tried it and it worked.

Hello list,

I know that if you have Window-Eyes for Office, you can update it by
going to the help menu. However, if you don't have it, there seems to be
a problem downloading it these days. Has anyone tried downloading
Window-Eyes for Office recently? I tried and found that I just couldn't
download it. When I click on the "Download now", either nothing happens
or a notice appears saying "the webpage could not be found" or words to
that effect. I hope someone can help me solve this problem.

Hi,
Unless it was a bad install, you can turn off apps, reboot and then nuke the GW
Micro folder in %appdata%

Window-eyes will rebuild the profile after you reload Window-eyes again.

I solved my problem.

After going into the factory settings dialog, I saw that none of the default
sets were installed and, even after trying to install them, it kept saying na
for the version number. I figured it was just easier to uninstall and reinstall
Window-eyes, rather than trying to do surgery on profiles. This method worked
and I now have a working copy of Window-eyes, working normally.

Hi,
Check out the below link:
http://www.gwmicro.com/Support/Knowledge_Base/?kbnumber=GWKB1067

Understand if Office 2010, 2013, or 2016 is not on the target machine
Window-eyes will run as a 30 minute demo. Also you can't take your purchased
synthesizers as they are activated per machine.

You can use sapi and eSpeak with the portable version.

Hi,
After you installed the client, did you run one of the applications like word
and sign in with your Microsoft account?
Just installing the client isn't good enough. One office program needs to be
ran and activated.

I am no expert on WindowEyes for office, but make sure you downloaded
from the windoweyes for office site, not from gwmicro.com, and if you
did do that and it still does not work and you actually have the office
365 client, then in the apps menu, there is some tools under
diagnostics to fix office licensing problems.

Hope that helps.

Hi if you are running window-eyes for office and you would like to
temparrly shut it down.
Not remove it form your system.
But just have it temparrly not run ane until you want it to run again.
How do you make this happen?
Also how do you relaunch window-eyes for office again when you would
like to use it again?
Remember this is how to shut down window-eyes for office tamparrly and
not removing it from your computer.
And then how to relaunch it from being show down temparrly.

disk cloning and window eyes for office

2015-10-28 Thread Josh K via Talk
hey i tried macriam reflect with window eyes for office 9.2. and it is
reading a lot more information. macriam reflect is free disk cloning and
backup software for windows. so i used the mouse pointer and it read the
screen and i routed it to the disk and it said pointer routed to custom
control. could someone please make an appp for this software so window
eyes reads it better, or could someone also download this software and
help me figure out how to get it working so when my ssd comes in the
mail i can clone the old hard drive to the new ssd? if you want to
remote in let me know and i could load up window eyes for office 9.2 and
let you remote in and check out the macriam reflect software for
yourself. i don't know how to work with the custom controls in this
application but at least window eyes is giving me more info than NVDA
2015.3 was giving to me.

serial number issue with window-eyes for office

2015-10-07 Thread Scott Shade via Talk
I sent a message to the list last week where I indicated that I had to roll
back my windows 10 installation to windows 7 because somethings got totally
corrupted with my windows account and my desktop was empty or unusable, I
couldn't really tell with window-eyes or system access, and I had toolbars
that were getting in the way that I couldn't get to disappear, and dialogs
weren't speaking at all, and none of my changes that I could make, would
save for the next restart. When I rolled back, I had trouble getting my
window-eyes for office copy to validate, so I uninstalled it, and
reinstalled it, and made sure that the service was set to automatic to
verify the license and that ESpeak was the synth that was running when it
first loaded, and on restarts. I have my serial number from when I
purchased the eloquence add-on for this, but, I can't see where to enter it.
I accidently used one of my synth authorizations when I used the license
manager to activate online, thinking that would restore my serial number
before trying to mess with the office validationwindow that had popped up
when the service was running on demand. I guess my question is two fold, is
there a way to enter this serial number manually, as this number is
registered with AISquared now, and is there a way to get back an
authorization for my eloquence speech, since One was inadvertently used? It
allowed the authorization, even though I had the generic gweeoffice number
that all office copies of window-eyes have. I have the synth authorization
file that I can run, but, I don't have the little file that ran to give me
the serial number in the first place. It just didn't occur to me to save
it. Thanks for any help you can give,

Scott

P.S. I'd call in for tech support on this, but, I'm not in a position to put
down money right now for what might amount to multiple support incidents,
and I don't necessarily think this one is going to be covered under the free
installation support.

choosing the Microsoft Platform option and, still, no joy.

Thanks.

Hi,
Just to add, that we have heard from some upgraders, that the .pst file used
by Microsoft outlook, becomes corrupt as well. So be sure you take a backup
before upgrading to windows 10.

Thanks.

For some reason, my Window-eyes for Office program is running in

Is there a solution?

Thanks all over the place gang.

So, in other words, I don't necessarily think it's a windows 10 issue.

For some reason, my Window-eyes for Office program is running in

Is there a solution?

Thanks all over the place gang.

RE: Window-eyes for office and Microsoft speech

2015-07-07 Thread Joseph Norton via Talk
If everything is working ok for you, you don't need to update. Just a few
apps were updated in the installer, and, the Micro$oft voices were made to
work properly at install-time.

I think they're going to have WE working by or close to the time Windows 10
actually is released. Up to build 10130 (which I am typing on right now) WE
works pretty well as it is. Notifications do not speak, and I am sure some
other things. The new notification center, though, can be read when
accessed from the system tray. I like it better than the notifications in
Windows 7 and 8.x.

The new browser that Micro$oft is shipping with Windows 10 can be accessed a
little, but, more work needs to be done on that.

When loggin into Windows 10, the password prompt speaks the characters
typed, but, seemingly only in the login screen. You get stars (like you
should) everywhere else for password entry fields.

Windoweyes will not install on Windows 10 preview build 10162. The OS's
compatibility assistant flatly refuses to let it install at all. Maybe AI
Squared does not want us to play with it until they get all the bugs
out--or as many as they can find.

But, I think they'll get it together pretty soon.

Hello everyone,
My local council is planning on migrating to Window-Eyes for schools,
and I will be training them in how to use it. However, I have a
question. They will be using the Microsoft Office offer, and because
that does not come with eloquence or any other speech synthesizer except
ESpeak, they will need to buy Eloquence separately. If the schools are
using Window-Eyes on multiple computers, will they get a serial number
for each computer, and if so, do they have to buy eloquence for each
computer that Window-Eyes is on, or is it possible for academic
institutions to get one serial number for all their computers that have
office under this offer?

They will need to purchase Eloquence per each computer or they can buy site

though as Eloquence costs just around $40. They should talk to the GW Sales
team though as there may be options.

for each computer, and if so, do they have to buy eloquence for each
computer that Window-Eyes is on, or is it possible for academic
institutions to get one serial number for all their computers that have
office under this offer?

Window-Eyes for Office and Eloquence

2015-03-22 Thread Samuel Wilkins via Talk

Subject: problem with Window-Eyes and office programs, help?

Hello list. This is Sky. I am having a problem with Window-Eyes and office.
When I restart the computer with Window-Eyes, and I go to a program like
Microsoft outlook, and I up and down arrow, without admin privolages, or
with UAC on, Window-Eyes will not speak the message. When I hit enter, and
use control shift r, all I get is a ding noise. However, if I turn run this
program as an administrator in Window-Eyes, or turn UAC off, I am able to
use office again. This only started happening in febuary. Is their a way
that I can fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Sky.

Hi,
Shortly, you should receive a link to your activation file.

Download it, run it and activate Window-eyes. Restart Window-eyes then install
the synthesizer authorization file from help/get more voices.

Importance: High

I am a Window-Eyes
for Office user, version 9.1. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I
also have a laptop running Windows 8.1 64 bit. Both have Office 365
installed.

I have purchased an activation back in the days of Eloquence to use with
Window-Eyes.

Anyway, I have looked all over the darn place for my serial activation
installer which converts Window-Eyes from the standard generic Office serial
number to your own unique serial number, so that you then can install
voices, and attach the activation to a valid serial. I think I've managed
to lose this file in a hard disk crash. I was able to go to the GWMicro web
site
and paste in my serial number which I found under help/about from my laptop,
as that system has already been
converted. I just installed W E on the Windows 7 machine two days ago
though. I got the copy of the Eloquence activation downloaded for my serial
number, as I think I get up to 5 activations, and I have only used one of
them. I found the installer activation file on the GW Micro web site where
you read about the different voices that can be purchased. I just pasted in
my serial, and it took me to my available licenses.

But now, I can't find the activation file to convert my copy of W E
over to that branded serial, therefore, the Eloquence activation file is
useless.

How can I go about redownloading that activation file?

Again, just to be 100% clear, I'm not talking about the Eloquence activation
file. that, I have.
What I don't! have, is the actual installer that converts my W E serial from
weforoffice or whatever the heck they put there, over to my P7*** whatever,
fill in the blank, serial.

Please tell me I don't have to wait to Monday to call A I Squared! I can't
stand! ESpeak! I have a very very severe hearing loss, and it's making me
almost not be able to use my PC being I only have access to ESpeak. And,
Microsoft TTS isn't hardly any better.

Chris.

Sounds like you'll have to give ai/gw a call tomorrow, until then my
suggestion would be to download the 60 day demo of zoomtext
magnifier/reader. From ai's website. Why? Because one of the synths you get
is ibm viavoice/eloquence no, you don't have to use zt if you can't/don't
want to but you can uninstall the demo once you get everything worked out

problem with Window-Eyes and office programs, help?

2015-03-15 Thread Sky Mundell via Talk

Help! I am really! in a pickle with Window-Eyes for Office

2015-03-14 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland via Talk

Chris.
