I followed your steps and then did some further testing, and as far as

Yes and annoying not just for a slow connection.

And duplicates are still an issue. IMAP is much worse for me than it

annoying and obvious shortcomings of IMAP handling with TB!

IMAP: Folder Indexes auto-rebuilding

2006-01-06 Thread Curtis
Hi all,

I've noted an annoying problem with IMAP in its current state.

It would seem that on most occasions when I start TB!, the folder which
is in focus on starting loses its Index in that the message list for the
folder is blank. The message list then re-propagates. For a relatively
slow connection and thousands of messages in the folder, this can be an
annoyance.

Is anyone else seeing this problem?

Additionally, the Inbox from which I do most message moving and
deletions has a problem properly synching between locations. I have to
be compressing the Inbox to get rid of messages deleted or moved while
using TB! at another location.

OK, I can now fully confirm what you have observed.

Aside of that, I have noticed that using 'Any part' doesn't seem to
work. Even using it in normal folders it won't find messages that are

I tried this searching for text and got no error. Then, looked more
closely, and tried same search looking in ANY PART. I can confirm that
TB locked up, and gave error message on exit.

I don't think this describes my observation (although it may be

Forgot to mention that in step 2 I enter the criteria in the last box
which by default is set up for "any part." There is no disk activity
after the search is started. Works perfectly in 3.64.01.

Thank you for testing. When graduating to the next version, I have
experienced anomalies that were due to the presence of the previous
version's tbuser.def file. Because I hate recreating all the
customizations (and who can remember them all), I used the tbuser.def
file from 3.64.01. Because of Roger's and your negative results, I
tried again without the tbuser.def file. Same thing happened. So here
are the steps to duplicate:

1. Open the VF. Message preview pane is enabled here.
2. Enter the criteria you want to search and choose the scope as "any
part"
3. Make certain that the only folder that will be searched is the VF
you opened.
4. I wanted to search for messages after a certain date, so enter a
date from 3 months back.
5. Start your search and see what happens.

Maybe it's my system, but I think it is rather generic.

The original discussion took place a while ago starting with
but as far as I can
see not Bugreport or wish was posted then.

Me got used to the new behavior, so the need for action is very low. I
adjusted the column size to fit on my smallest screen (my laptop) and
can live with the smaller columns on the other computers, too.

Alto: If you really want this feature back maybe you should post a
wish, that I would subsequently support. I don't suppose it is a bug,
as the functionality plus the option setting disappeared at the same
time. Looks intentional.

As I wrote in my :

| Auto-Complete options for each header separately. Just go to

Thanks for the explanation. I guess I wasn't aware about this feature
(or the lack of it) because I always use TB at full screen.

Is there a BT report open? Maybe it is not a bug though and the feature
was removed for some "technical" reasons when the UI was overhauled.
