The Shortcut Editor is available in most of The Bat!'s non-modal windows (such

Ctrl-Backspace in MicroEd

2008-02-08 Thread Carsten Guthardt-Schulz
Hi Tbbeta,

After having used the Plain Text(Windows)-editor for years, I wanted to try
out MicroEd again to see what the changes are. It appears that the same problem
that annoyed me years ago still persists:

When I Press Ctrl-Delete a few times to delete some words, I can only delete
until I reach the beginning of a line. There I can keep pressing Ctrl-Del as
often as I want, the cursor doesn't move, it doesn't bring me up to the
previous line to delete the previous word. I have to release the Ctrl button,
press Backspace to get to the line above, and then continue deleting words with
Ctrl-Del.

If you're used to deleting a few words in a row with Ctrl-Del, this is really
annoying, because every time you reach the beginning of a line, Ctrl-Del stops
working. In the Windows editor everything works fine.

Is there a workaround or is this just not bothering anyone else?

Not really a beta issue, but here it comes.
Copy your old message base to your new dsik.
Install TB
TB asks for a backup or a new account
Tell it to create a new account
When TB prompts you for a mail directory, point it to your message
base
When TB asks for an account name, give it the name of one of your
existing accounts, do this as often as you've got accounts.

Oh and if you're using OTFE, you need to use the same password as
before

that the name of the account, and the charset are always visible. If
there is not enough space, the editor type, between them, will

Yes, that's it, it depends on the width of the editor window and the resulting
space in the status bar. Some of my accounts had longer names, so there was not
enough space on the status bar and the field disappeared if I chose MicroEd.

It's definitly not a good solution, because
a) this field disappears when the window is too small, even though this is not
the right-most field, so the user gets surprised.
b) Whether the field gets displayed or not depends on what format you chose,
because it seems that more space is required for displaying Plain text
(MicroEd) than for displaying e.g. HTML Only. This is very confusing for the
user. Either the field should be there are not, but not depending on what you
select in it.

For my personally it's ok now that I know it, though. I care more about those
annoying IMAP bugs...

[SOT] Stopping a message from being sent

2008-02-08 Thread MAU
Hello all,

It is not a beta issue, that's why I say SOT. But since there seems to
be more people 'listening' here than in TBUDL...

Under certain circumstances (which can be checked with Outgoing filter
conditions) I'd like to stop a message from actually being sent. I've
tried with current available filter actions (Delete, Move, etc.) but
the outgoing message is still sent.

Does anybody have any bright idea about how to achieve it?

And, if not, does anybody think that a new and specific filter action
would be useful?

TIA.

Hello, Carsten!

I am looking for the editor where I can add/change keyboard
 shortcuts.

Use the Customiser: Rightclick on a symbol bar - Customise...

- Tab Shortcuts - choose entry - doubleclick entry - assign
shortcut

That's it! :-)

Hello, Carsten!

When I Press Ctrl-Delete a few times to delete some words, I can
only delete until I reach the beginning of a line. There I can keep
pressing Ctrl-Del as often as I want, the cursor doesn't move, it
doesn't bring me up to the previous line to delete the previous
word. I have to release the Ctrl button, press Backspace to get to
the line above, and then continue deleting words with Ctrl-Del.

Confirmed!

Is there a workaround or is this just not bothering anyone else?

As you already said: release the CTRL button ...

You'd need a new category of filters, outgoing filters are being
processed after the message has been sent. You want to process the
message before being sent.

However, I can think of some uses for a category like that, even
without your additional action. :-)

Common Replied Filter no longer works with v.4.0.7

2008-02-08 Thread Perry Nelson
Hello Fellow Beta Testers,

I have defined a common read filter, called Reply Needed, that allows
me to set the color group and assign the message so marked to a virtual
folder where it awaits a reply.

Here is that filter. This one works in 4.0.7.

 TB! Message Filter
beginFilter
UID: [26B18A20.01C62A80.70864B1F.4A5BF79F]
Name: Set\20color\20to\20Reply\20Needed
Filter: {\0D\0A\20`21\0D\0A}
SetColour 1302808744
MarkUnread
IsManual
IsActive
IsHotkey
IsHotkeyOnly
Ignore
endFilter

Then I also have a common replied filter that changes the color group
back to the generic color group (i.e., none) when I get around to
replying to those messages in that virtual folder.

Here is that replied filter. This is the filter that no longer works in
4.0.7.

 TB! Message Filter
beginFilter
UID: [6F7F8100.01C7EA28.33BC22EB.780A1C99]
Name: Remove\20need\20reply\20coloring
Filter: {\0D\0A\20`15`0`1302808744\0D\0A}
SetColour 213158228
IsActive
Ignore
endFilter

Any suggestions as to why this replied filter no longer works? It used to.

One idea: you create a QT that will replace the @ in the recipient to
#. That way the SMTP server reports an error if you try to send, and
you have to manually go to the Outbox, open the mail, (run another QT
to) replace the # to @, and send.

Or you simply include this QT in the template of specific mails...

Draft Folder (Formerly Stopping a message from being sent)

2008-02-08 Thread Rick Grunwald
Maybe I just don't get what you mean, since you have abandonded your
 campaign for a Drafts folder.

You said it. I have abandoned the _campaign_, but I still play and
experiment every now and then. See attached.

I have been experimenting also. I move all the mail into common
folders rather than work on a per account basis

I made a virtual folder that shows the contents of all the out boxes.
It seems to fulfill the requirements ...(?)

Also, what is the difference between a virtual folder and a Common
Virtual folder? They both seem to do the same thing

Thanks

Yes, and I believe there is a BT report open for that.

Why don't you use 'Send to Email recipient' instead of reverting?

 Yes, confirmed :(

Confirmed here. If you start with the bat OPEN it creates the message

close

If you start with the bat CLOSED The bat opens but the message is not created,
there is
the windows error sound and then the bat will not close without

2008-02-08 Thread MAU
Hello Vili,

Sorry for my late reply.

 | Under certain circumstances (which can be checked with Outgoing filter
 | conditions) I'd like to stop a message from actually being sent.

Don't know if such a QT is possible. Perhaps using regexp (which I
hate, BTW). And also, what happens if you send a message to a whole AB
Group, the To: field is filled with 'GroupName list'. How would you
handle that?

Confirmed. Also Cancel button doesn't work.

I can also confirm that the same thing happens here.

Re: Draft Folder (Formerly Stopping a message from being sent)

2008-02-08 Thread MAU
Hello Rick,

You said it. I have abandoned the _campaign_, but I still play and
experiment every now and then. See attached.

I have been experimenting also. I move all the mail into common
folders rather than work on a per account basis

I don't use any common folders, and neither any common filters. I
personally see no real advantage in using them. Actually, common
folders belong to a pseudo-account that doesn't have an Inbox or Outbox
and can't send or receive, that's all.

I made a virtual folder that shows the contents of all the out boxes.
It seems to fulfill the requirements ...(?)

See my note (0015108) on 15 Dec 2005 at 03:42 in:

  https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=5441

And perhaps also note (0015138) on 15 Dec 2005 at 16:33

Also, what is the difference between a virtual folder and a Common
Virtual folder? They both seem to do the same thing

The name. One has 2 words and the other one 3.

AV with new stable 4.0.7

2008-02-08 Thread Ulrich Peters
Hello,

I upgraded to TheBat 4.07 yesterday, and I am getting crashes with
this new version, everytime I call thebat.exe when the program is
already running.

I use Mailwasher Pro to filter spam out of my mailbox before it is
downloaded by TheBat. Therefore, after deleting the trash out of my
inbox, TheBat.exe is called as thebat.exe /NOLOGO /CHECKALL. This
works fine the first time, when TheBat wasn't already running, but on
the second time (and every attempt thereafter) I download new mail I
get an access violation, very similar to the one reported by Jens
Franik here before:

thebat.exe - Application Error
The exception unkonwn software exception (0x0eedfade) occurred in the
application at location 0x7c812a5b.

After dismissing the error dialog, mail is downloaded normally. I can
reproduce this error by just calling thebat.exe twice in a DOS box,
without any parameters. Deleting the anti-virus plug-in didn't solve
the issue.

Needless to say that I didn't get this error with the former stable
version I was using (3.98.4). Since June 2007 this is the first
stable version where S/MIME seems to work (as I reported on BT), but
unfortunately now I can't download mail without getting an error
dialog on each attempt, unless I close TheBat first. So it seems that
I have to downgrade again to version 3.98.4 ...

Cheers,
Ulrich Peters
