Yes, but when you said it wasn't happening to you, it sounded as if
you doubted that it was happening to me--at least, as a result of a
bug in TB!

So, I wanted to know whether you did not see my malformed message and
did not believe me that it is a bug.

Additionally, it will--or did, when I used to run 3.51.4--drop
characters in the View Folder screen without any Reply having been
invoked--drop them on first viewing the message.

Did I miss something, that I didn't see you telling them in those

It's in the charset/unicode new functionality that is only partially
implemented in MicroEd that the bug seems to dwell.

Stefan has said that it's possible they are going to do a complete
unicode re-write, starting from scratch:

I'm going to wait for that beta and run 3.0.2.10 in the meantime.

Too many misunderstandings have already arisen for me from this bug.

Uh ... what is the resolution of your screen? It only abbreviates it
here if I resize the window to a *very* small one. I have 1280 x
1024 and my comments line takes about the half (700), so I guess
 800 x 600 should fit. Are you working with 640 x 480?

1280 x 1024--necessary for optimum display on this flat screen.

But, I was able to increase the font size somewhere--I've forgotten if
it was in WinXP or in TB! I need both character size and the contrast
between type and background enhanced over ordinary display, else I
have to put my nose within 4 inches of the screen. And that's not
really fun. :)

MB Every day's a schoolday, here. :)

That is what makes tbbeta a fun :-)

On a different topic: I am getting quite adept at interpreting what
looks like typos in the View Folder and MicroEd's Edit Mail Message
window.

Nevertheless, these missing characters (above, tbbeta a fun) are
getting to be a real pain. The Bug Report page (4904) asks for
Feedback, but I don't know what is wanted in the way of Feedback
there. :woe:

Sorry, Mary, I don't really understand what you mean here. Which
character do you think is missing in the above mentioned example?

I don't really know, this case. The a between tbbeta and fun

I don't understand at all about Comment, having never used it. On my
AB template, below my name, I have the following (without the
quotation marks that I've inserted into this message):

The Bat %THEBATVERSION on %WINDOWSPLATFORMNAME
%WINDOWSMAJORVERSION.%WINDOWSMINORVERSION %WINDOWSBUILDNUMBER
%WINDOWSCSDVERSION

If you're just trying to construct something that works, you might try
that.

On the other hand, you may be trying to figure out what has gone wrong
with the Comment template, and in that case, please just ignore my own
comment. :)

As far as I can recall, I got my template as a copy-and-paste from
Marck D. Pearlstone, when I first got TB!, v. 1.61, in October, 2003.

the QT? I'll try to place inside my macro for TBBETA to see if it
 works for me.

Thanks for your help, Greg. Its not a big problem though, now that I found
it. I just have to rewrite the parameter passing, its using %COMMENT now,
I'll replace that (sooner or later...) with %_CHARMAP or some other self
defined macro, et voila.

Apparently nothing, it worked just fine for me, though I used it as a

Just to sure. The first question to ask is: Do you have more than one
entries for tbbeta in your AB? In general that's the number one reason
for the wrong template to start.
