I wish I could get my TB! to look as yours by renaming a file... I've
tried deleting all registry settings and running the alpha from a new
catalogue, but still no menu labels :-/ And yes, of course I made sure I
got all files this time too.

And this IS a BETA list,(says so in the address). Truth is I was being fair,
they ask for input, I'm giving it. It's hard to rave about something that is so
 deeply flawed.

Surely all these bugs we're finding must have been the same for the developers.
The basic fundamental things like icons and spell checker, missing menus and
blank menu items and yet they still released it to us. They've put their self
in the firing line by releasing such a flawed version even if it is an Alpha.

Sorry but the word "Wow" just doesn't spring to mind at the moment.

I'll echo Alexander and Dick. I can wait too. But I would point out to
Dick that there is a huge difference between alpha testing and beta
testing. I signed on as a beta tester. I don't have the time or the
inclination to do alpha testing. I was pleased with the announcement
that the next beta would be released with "no (or at least minimum
number) of known issues". It seems now that 9Val's estimate of "at
least one week" for delivery time to that beta was somewhat... well,
let's not go there.

Probably so. Perhaps a new list should be started for those
messages... maybe TBALPHA.

You know we are talking big changes here? And besides, this isn't a
beta, it's an alpha. Usually they don't even release alphas. I really
don't think it's fair of you to complain about the usability of a alpha.

But that's a discussion we have had many times, probably I shouldn't
even post this not to start another sub-thread about Ritlabs' release
policies.

 Yup, same as mine.

Well I just tried to cut something from your post and paste it here as a
quotation but right click does not work at all.

Never have I had to revert back to a lesser version, there have never been any
bugs that effected me that much, this may be a first.

With all due respect to the boys at RITLABS but the time span between the last
beta and this should have produced more than a virtually non useable version.

I'll stick with it for a day or so just to confirm or refute and more bugs,
after all, that's what we're here for. It is very disappointing though after
 such a long wait.

it is not finished, so I can help You by removing them completely
from def file only:

remove following rows from mainform.def:

  crc32("toolbar") [MainForm_ConfigurationToolbar] linked to "MsgInDock;0;1"
  crc32("toolbar") [MainForm_QuickSearchToolbar] linked to "MsgInDock;1;1"

But for the purposes of this Deep Space 9 version I'm running it from my XP
laptop.

Is anyone else having trouble getting rid of the Config and Quick search tool
bars? The only way I can get rid of them is to float them and then click the x
in the normal way. Rebooting TB! brings the bloody things back again!

I can wait too.I've tried it for 5 minutes and decided to go back to the
3.02.10 version. I prefer to wait for a more stable Beta version and leave this
Alpha version to the developers and all the others who were desperately
"screaming" for a new Beta version recently...;-)

I think that the number of messages added to this TBBETA list will go through
the roof in a few hours..

? You want icons AND text?
Just rest your mousecursor for a second on an icon and you'll get text.

One thing that I think is odd is the fact that I drag all of the icon groups
onto one line, but after closing TheBat! and firing it up again, it's again
on two lines. I don't want that. But that's just a cosmetic thing.

All files from the archive must be located at the start directory -
i.e. you should explicitly set the start directory in the shortcut
properties.

One more thing - the batskin.xml should be also added.
