Yes, I tried and all messages were imported correctly. First I tried to restore messages from backup, but only the folder structure and account settings were restored. I have also several AV and other errors (see mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED]). Then I decided to import messages from ordinary copy of my mail directory, where all data were not encrypted. It was successful, but time-consuming. Obviously, messages after importing are stored in encrypted form. Unfortunately, I cannot change any account settings because of AV error: Access violation at address 008A1E52 in module 'thebat.exe'. Read of address . I installed BayesIt! plug and it start working normally. As I wrote previously, filters are not completely restored, but paste them from text file is possible. Now I work with unencrypted form because I was not able to modify accounts. I attach "except.log" file generated in encrypted version. DH> For new users, not having an existing message base, preferences et al. DH> the way you chose is easy, but for us old hands ... Very well said. That is exactly where I am. The only difference between me and others who chose the Professional Edition is that many pf them will be using it in a "production environment" as some of the programming subscribers to tbbeta express it, meaning, seemingly, to earn a living with. And the seamless transfer of message bases is critical to those users. I use The Bat! as my e-mail client for personal and private mail, and for some Internet transactions, but for me business records and customers are not at stake. Besides, it might be difficult for TB! to keep track of to different bases for each folder, one encrypted and one not. I vote for either encrypting a whole folder or not encrypting at all. However, I would like an option to turn encryption on/off for single accounts or even better for single folders. Encryption adds extra security against intruders, but at the same time, it makes it harder (or impossible) for me to manually inspect a corrupt message base. I can always open an unencrypted .tbb file in Notepad and extract as much information as possible, this I cannot do with an encrypted folder. For some folders, I would like the extra security encryption brings, for others, I'd rather have the extra safety of being able to open and read the message base in my editor of choice. Max, I would appreciate your comments and thoughts on this. The decision will always be yours, but I believe we all would gain from discussing this before you implement it. -- Regards, Marcus Ohlström Using The Bat! v3.0.1.33 on Windows 2000 5.0 Build 2195 Service Pack 4 PGP Public Key at http://www.canit.se/~marcus/pgp.asc Current beta is 3.0.2.5 Rush | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/

Americans spell it the same way as the British, and that's Monday. In German, it's Montag. In Moldavian, I'm not sure, but it seems to be a simple spelling mistake. Now about "Work Days". In most of the Western world, that would mean Monday-Friday, while in the Arab World, that's Saturday to Thursday, and in Isreal, Sunday to Friday. In most of Asia, it's Monday to Saturday. When I lived in Damascus, we had Fridays and Sundays off (the latter due to respect the many Christians in our school, who didn't actually care and would have preferred a two-day weekend not interrupted by an on-duty Saturday but that's not the point). So "Work Day" is quite a confusing concept. ;-) -- Cheers, Thomas. BROT trocknet nicht so rasch aus, wenn man es stets in einem Eimer mit Wasser lagert. It certainly does not! I first created a complete backup the way I always do, with a batch file that backs up the registry and then the whole Bat directory. I then made a backup using TB's backup option so I could use it to restore. I deleted my RIT registry entry and ran TB. I followed all the on screen prompts for "On the fly encryption", chose the option to restore from backup and got a "Can't read data" error and then an AV. When TB opened up I had a perfectly clean install, so clean there were absolutely zero messages. The AB was fine, templates were fine but no mail or filters at all. I even tried copying everything from the Mail folder to the newly created MailPwd (I think it was called) folder but when I ran TB it just went through the "Do I want to restore?" dialogue again. Nice idea though. -- Best regards,Tony. _ The Bat! v3.0.2.5 06/11/2004 at 10:48 UTC 2ШШ4 - AWB Current beta is 3.0.2.5 Rush | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/

Hello Chris, CW> What do you class as a 'fast connection'? It is very relative - if you have fast enough connection, you'll get rare long-staying wrong counters. TB! gets message counter, shows them and with enabled option tries to retrieve real message counters, with fast enough connection you'll get sometimes quick flickering of numbers, on slow you can wait a little for seeing correct numbers. So all depends if that delay is suitable for you -- 9Val Current beta is 3.0.2.5 Rush | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/

And this brings us back to the question of the Ritlabs need for a technical writer - someone, who besides rewriting the help file, would be able to fix up the English in the GUI. The Bat! 3.0.2.5 Rush is now available
Hello All, The Bat! 3.0.2.5 Rush is now available from http://www.ritlabs.com/en/tbbeta/ Here is a short list of changes: [*] Message base and configuration data encryption can be now activated for Professional Edition (see comments below) [*] Scheduler: Automatic view for currently selected event [*] IMAP: new mail sound improvements [*] IMAP: Fine-tune option 'Use precise counters' [*] IMAP: Fine-tune option 'Retrieve only text' A little description for IMAP users: First tune option is suitable for IMAP users which have permanent and fast enough connection to server. After enabling it you should get rid of * and <> Second option is suitable for users who has slow connection and tired to wait downloading of message with big attachments Sounds on new mail became a little bit smarter and shouldn't trigger after filtering and manual operations !IMPORTANT! That's Maxim wrote about message base encryption: During the first run of The Bat! executable, if The Bat! home directory is not yet configured in the Registry, the program checks a registry value whether it has been installed by a “Home Edition MSI” or a “Professional Edition MSI”. In case of Professional Edition, The Bat! displays a dialog box whether a user wishes on-the-fly encryption. If you run a single .EXE-file not from the MSI, The Bat! will ask you what edition do you have. You can also enter the registration key and the program will extract the edition from the key. Please be aware that you can select to use or not to use on-the-fly encryption only during the clean install, i.e. there were no The Bat! previously installed. If you like to change on-the-fly encryption back or forth, you have to make full backup via the The Bat! BACKUP/RESTORE wizard, remove The Bat! completely, including the Registry entries, run this beta and do the restore. Please note that this is a beta version and The Bat! BACKUP/RESTORE may not yet work properly. -- 9Val Current beta is 3.0.2.4 Rush | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/

Hello 9Val! On Friday, November 5, 2004 at 11:24:20 PM you wrote: > [*] Message base and configuration data encryption can be now > activated for Professional Edition (see comments below) From what I've seen in Maxim's note (cited by you) I'd say this is a little bit useless at the moment since no MSI installer has been published, yet ... I'd really like to see an option later on to enable message base encryption without having to do a clean install. -- Dierk Haasis :Dierk: Copy 'n' Concept The Bat 3.0.2.5 on Windows XP 5.1 2600 Service Pack 2 Chat info for ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, Jabber upon request Wherever Germany extends her sway, she ruins culture.
