SOT: TB! compatible eMail Client under WinCE 2000
Dear readers from 'TB!udl List', -- Happy New Year to all Please excuse when I miss to choose the right Discussion List. I'm using beside a Notebook also a Handheld-PC (don't confuse it with Organizer) under WinCE 2000 (also known as WinCe v3.0). Have a look at the Picture here: http://home.intermec.com/eprise/main/Intermec/Content/Products/Products_ShowDetail?section=ProductsProduct=CMPTR6651Category=CMPTRFamily=CMPTR2 As TB! is not running under WinCE - and will not in the future according to Ritlabs - I'm looking for a versatile eMail Client that offers me also the capability of multi Account Management. Does anybody have experience with CE SW? Any suggestions are welcomed. Just to note that the new Agnitum Outpost [Free] firewall* knows of The Bat! - it has preset rules for it, as I found out to my surprise when I first tried to retrieve email with the firewall installed. Re[3]: Anti-virus plugins
(apologies if this appears twice) Re the stuff on Norton and XP below: (related to Norton AV 2002 and the loss of the autodelete function for infected mail after moving from 2001) I've found that Norton 2001 works fine (so far!) with the Bat in XP if the instructions found from the google search below are followed. Norton were very cagy about it working, citing the Microsoft compatiblity update as untested. in fact, I suspect all the MS update is is a warning flash on installation about the symevent file in 2001 being incompatible, but installing the updated file during the main install seems to work ok. Uninstalling 2002 was a pain, though - the uninstall routine leaves loads of stuff in the registry which I manually cleared out, and a number of dll files. Even then, the new install picked up my registration details from the 2002 install. At least my 90 day oem 2001 copy now has the 365 days of updates of the retail 2002 that was there before! My mail downloads are now fully automatic but I've disabled all the scheduled tasks just in case there is still a problem with Symevent. PGP and The Bat - I need some help
I'm a recent convert to The Bat from Pegasus Mail. I use PGP for certain emails and I'm trying to use this feature with The Bat. I'm having trouble reading emails received that are encrypted with PGP. I want to use PGP 2.6.3i. This version worked on my PC with Pegasus Mail, so I suppose the PGPPATH and other paths are already properly set. 1. When I receive a PGP encrypted message and try and open it with Tools | Open PGP | Open PGP Decrypt I am faced with a dialog requiring me to enter an ID and a password. Which ID information should I enter? I tried various alternatives, but they all result in another empty window about an Open PGP Error. 2. The Open PGP Key Manager option and Preferences do not open anything unless I choose the internal (RFC 1991) option. But if I do that, I still cannot decrypt anything. I get an error about an unknown PGPpacket format. 3. What is the internal (RFC 1991) option? 4. How do I decrypt PGP messages addressed to a nym that I created for myself? I know I have a lot to learn, but I am keen to do so! -- Best regards, Costas mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] -- Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Latest Vers: 1.53d FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com

I have to wonder what the preset rules are.. All I can think of is that it allows TB to send and retrieve mail even if the Internet is Locked (if Outpost has such a feature as ZA). No is the one-word answer ;) As it turns out, I removed it because it forgets all the settings after restarting the machine, and turns out to be too complex for not enough gain. So I didn't have the chance to do the Gibson tests, much as I'd have liked to. It guesses what an application is trying to do on first connection to The Internet and applies rules from templates (either specific ones such as The Bat! or generic ones such as browser). Unfortunately it sometimes guesses wrongly and undoing the mistake is awkward ... I noted that, for some reason, the TB! log file is shorter when Outpost is installed, which suggests that a transparent proxy or similar is making its presence felt (there are various ad filters and other plugins). From bad experiences with such transparent proxies before (specifically Panda AntiVirus) this is not a good thing. The ID is the email address associated with the required key. CP 2. The Open PGP Key Manager option and Preferences do not CP open anything unless I choose the internal (RFC 1991) option. CP But if I do that, I still cannot decrypt anything. I get CP an error about an unknown PGPpacket format. Not all versions of PGP have preferences which can be accessed from the GUI. CP 3. What is the internal (RFC 1991) option? An older implementation of PGP which only supports RSA keys. CP 4. How do I decrypt PGP messages addressed to a nym that I created CP for myself? I'm not certain that I know what this means. If you can gain access to the correct PGP version, you should be able to decrypt at will. - -- Cheers -- .\\arck D. I've been using it and have so far had one bad experience. I disable the mail checker since I use the system monitor. However, it would appear that it stakes out the temp folder and will alert you of virus or virus-like presence in the temp folder. No problem. However, TB! was in the process of downloading an infected message and as soon as NAV2002 detected it in the temp folder it alerted me but this process somehow prevents TB! from completing the download and deletion from the server. As a result of this, TB! kept attempting the download until I had to manually delete the offending message from the server. This I find annoying. PC-Cillin never did or caused this. -- .-.-. Re[3]: Anti-virus plugins
Re the stuff on Norton and XP below: (related to Norton AV 2002 and the loss of the autodelete function for infected mail after moving from 2001) I've found that Norton 2001 works fine (so far!) with the Bat in XP if the instructions found from the google search below are followed. Re: filter not
Hi Roelof, I do not know how to paste a filter. Please tell me how. I double checked the things you mentioned. All check out OK. -- Best regards, rick mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] RS Tried refiltering and the message still sits there in the RS inbox. The message could have triggered another filter first, in that case the message won't trigger other filters, unless the first triggered filter has the option 'Continue processing with other filters' checked. It's also possible that your filter-string has a typo. There's a possibility that your filter has (an) additional condition(s) that you've forgotten about or that you inserted by mistake or without realizing the consequences. It's also possible that your filter isn't active. Paste your filter in a message, so we can have a look at it. -- Groetjes, Roelof -- Archives : http://tbudl.thebat.dutaint.com Moderators : mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] TBTech List: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Unsubscribe: mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Latest Vers: 1.53d FAQ: http://faq.thebat.dutaint.com

I was able to turn off autocomplete (for the To: box--I hate autocomplete) in the registry (with regedit), but is there an option menu that does the same thing, that I didn't notice?
