New message from Favourites & Memo in saved file

2002-01-04 Thread Andrew Aronoff

Hello,

I've been using The Bat! version 1.53d under Windows 2000 SP2 for
almost 24 hours now and I'm very pleased. It's stable, flexible,
packed with features, updated, and supported.

I've come up with a couple of questions:

1. New message from Favourites - I have an AB entry to which I have
added a template on the AB New Message tab. I checked "Use a specific
template for new messages" on this tab. Here's my simple template:

<
Dear friend,

%cursor

regards, Andy
%BCC="Andrew Aronoff <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>"
>

Of course, in the real template, my _real_ e-mail address replaces
"[EMAIL PROTECTED]".

When I click on the "Create a new message" drop-down box and choose
this Favourite, the message uses the template *except* for the BCC
entry.

How can I get the Favourite template for new messages to use the %BCC
macro entry?

2. Memo in saved file - Up until yesterday, I was using Eudora Pro. I
frequently used the Eudora message editing feature to add notes to
received messages. I read in the TBUDL archives that one TB workaround
is to add a Memo to a received message. This worked to add the
comments I wanted, but when I saved the message to a text file, the
memo was not included. I also could find no macro entry that refers to
the memo.

How can memo comments be included with a saved message?

TIA and regards, Andy

Forward message as attachment?

2002-01-04 Thread jonathan . wayne

Hello TBUDL!

Spamcop has a feature whereby one can forward email to their service for
reporting on Spam.
But doing this the manual route is quite time-consuming and it's much
easier to use Spamcop's
web interface. Is there a way that I can _automate_ the forwarding of an
email (with headers)
as an attachment?

Thanks!

jon

Reformat (Alt-L) multiple times

2002-01-04 Thread jonathan . wayne

An on-going and annoying problem with reformatting paragraphs with Alt-L.
Sometimes I'll have to position the cursor multiple times within a paragaph
and
use Alt-L to reformat it properly. The first time may leave a paragraph
looking
like:

Some text here some text here Some text here some text here
Partial line here
Some text here some text here Some text here some text here

The second Alt-L usually works, but sometimes doesn't unless I place it at
the
end of the incompletely formatted line (above, the second line.)

Doesn't always happen but frequently enough to be a pain. Anyone have this
problem?

Thanks!

jon

This is a known problem with Alt-L, especially when positioning the
cursor with the mouse instead of cursor keys.

Are you sure it isn't added? Or is it just the case that you don't see

see it, whether it's inserted or empty.
You'll enable the viewing of the BCC header in the message editor by:

If you wish to send the message with the headers you could use the
%Headers macro with the %Text macro..

It's however better to send the message source, which is what
spamcop.net prefers anyway. You'll have problems with HTML messages
when you forward them using the aforementioned macros.

If you really wish to acclimatize yourself, practice using only the
keyboard to edit messages or any text for that matter. Hitting Alt+L
will now not initially require moving the cursor with arrow keys.

There are standard shortcut keys for navigating documents quickly and
they're definitely worth getting acquainted with. Pretty much like
touch typing is. :-)

I know. You shouldn't have to be changing how you do things to use the
TB! editor. :-) Just a suggestion though. What else can I do? :-)

Please don't use reply to start a new thread. Your question has been
posted at the bottom of un unrelated topic. The Bat! is a threading
mail client.

See "View | View threads by | Reference" to see where it ended up.

The result is that it will only be seen by those reading that thread
instead of by all users.

I recommend that you post your question again using a "New message".

You are using the 1.54 beta. This version includes a Rich Text viewer
which allows the use of non-fixed pitch fonts.

Please read the FAQ for information about fixed fonts, which is
nothing to do with versions of Delphi, but to do with what has been
best for ASCII text messaging.

You have to face a "tedious task" just once - making all folders
"Use the account default settings". Then any changes you make to one
folder will apply to all other folders with that setting.

automatic encryption of message file

Depending on your settings and version. When I forward normally it is not
attached so I press [Shift] and click the forward button. this produces a
long message.

I have a quick template [QT] which looks like

==8<=

%CLEAR
%TO=""
%TO="[EMAIL PROTECTED]"

==8<=

This is called spam so all I have do do is type [spam] into the message
somewhere and then activate the QT (by pressing CTRL + SPACE) this clears
the body of the message. This does not take long at all.

Yes, the BCC field has been rendered visible in TB. It's visible and,
unfortunately, _empty_ when I click on the Favourite in the "Create a

Can you reproduce this behavior? If not, is there something else I

Yep. That's the kind of guy I am. I'm a Button Guy.

Let the Programmers do the programming, and let the Button Guys push

It's called progress.

I can display Thai language with fixed fonts over here. However, it is

The good news is that the current beta series has a "Rich Text

At least the coloumn headings do not say so.

A possible work around would be to create a filter so that messages with v-card
could be colour coded for easy identification.

That I can agree with. The synchronisation process should really
ideally ask the user where the source and target installations are and
then do everything after that.

JF> That why Windows is in, and DOS is out.

JF> I'm also a Mouse Guy, rather than a Keyboard Guy.

Your loss there. :-)

Note that I'd rather press a button than go through the exercise that
I explained. Why? It would be easier.

However I don't wish to use the mouse too much, especially when
editing. Why? The mouse isn't quick enough and can actually make you
do more.

Just today I was with one of my colleagues helping him with the
editing of his research paper. He was extremely grateful to me when I
showed him what the CTRL-A, CTRL-Home, CTRL-End, End and Home keys
did. :-) He was glad to stop using the mouse to do the same things.
You must realize that he hangs out in saloons, right?

Thank you for your help. My mistake was that I was looking for a
default folder somewhere in my Account settings. It took me a l o n g
time to understand it. In short (I'm writing this mostly for my
benefit) all folders with the "Use the account column default
settings" ticked in Folder Properties behave in the same way. If I
want a specific folder to have different settings, then I should
untick the setting for that folder only.

That's wonderful! The Bat uses Wordstar navigation. That surely takes
me back to a different age...

Remote Mailbox

2002-01-04 Thread Jason

Hi, guys!
first time here
I would like to know does TB have the feature like "remote mailbox" as
Becky do (as told by my friends)??
that means we could delete the unwanted msg. before we even download
it from the server
coz some of the emails are too big in size
that spend me lots of time to download it, kinda irritating if u have
a bad connection that keep disconnecting!
so, any idea??
TIA
