Why? I'm using SpamPal and Bayesian filter, and I wouldn't ask if that, or
SpamAssassin, or K7, or whatever anti-spam solution, be integrated into TB.
Let the users decide what they like best, TB is big enough an application
 already.

Actually, it would just be nice, if TB! would offer reclassification via
right-mouse-click for each email. Maybe that could be done by third-parties as
plug-ins for TB! and interested programmers could do one for your SpamPal and one for
my POPfile ;-)

That's already available in beta 11 (under Specials menu). Just waiting for the

Does Alt-F12 not do what you want? You can change the
SmartBat hotkey from F6 to anything you like (conditions

I don't want to change the key to access SmartBat - but the

For example in the main editor I can change the autoformat

I can't seem to do this in SmartBat :-(

Hi Marck,

I'm using NOD32 v2 and to the best of my knowledge, there is no need
for a plug-in.

IMON is automatically set to listen on port 110. I would suggest
looking in the help file that comes with NOD32 as there are directions
on how to set up IMON. For the paranoid (me), there is an option that
will append a line to each e-mail letting you know it's been scanned.
I used this to make sure all of my accounts were getting scanned then
turned it off. This is what is appended at the bottom of the e-mail.

There is no need to use the plug in. It scans the mail before it gets
to the BAT, and you have the option of attaching notification to
e-mail (all, none, or only infected). I am using the infected
notification and with the BAT's filter, I can isolate the infected
e-mail into its own folder. I can tell you it works well

v2's IMON doesn't check outbound mail and only inbound mail. Also,
POP encryption using TLS is becoming popular so mail would be encrypted
at the Winsock level which is where IMON works. The plugin would
therefore be needed in such a situation.

So the plug-in isn't required if you're not using POP encryption. AMON
will prevent outbound mail infection provided attachments are added to
mail from explorer and infected attachments aren't handled within TB!
itself, i.e., the infected mail is redirected/forwarded after receipt.

Re: How do you archive mail?

2003-07-11 Thread Ricardo Marte
Hi Martin,

I use the backup feature in theBat because it saves the program
settings along with the mail. It is also very fast.

However, I also use Mailbag Assistant to handle my Archive
files. I had nearly 10,000 messages that I kept and removing it
from the Bat made backing up a little faster.

Mailbag Assistant is pretty fast and you can reply/forward any
message you find. You can also create simple scripts to backup
your mail anyway and anywhere you want. You can then create a
shortcut and run the script automatically say, from your
  desktop.

Again, theBat! gives Mailbag Assistant a run for its money
because theBat! is so fast and can search/sort/filter very well.
Nevertheless, I would give Mailbag a look.

Below is an example of a Mailbag script I use to backup my mail
to CD-RW. Pretty simple. Let me know if you have any questions
or try the Mailbag help group:
  http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mailbag/

Open +F:\thebatmail\*.tbb
ApplyFilter
Select All
Transfer
DefaultView SubsetGrid
IfError End
DeleteFile X:\All_Current.mbg
SaveMailbox X:\All_Current.mbg
Close

Re: First email client with built in POPFile

2003-07-11 Thread Carsten Thönges
* Jurgen Haug [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes:

 The Courier Email client
(http://www.rosecitysoftware.com/courier/) has code in the latest
version to automatically find the X-POPFile-Link decode the link
and add a Reclassify... menu item.

Very nice integration of POPFile. Thanks.

wouldn't it be nice if TB! would integrate POPfile, too?

Okay. What do we need to do?

  1) extract the X-POPFile-Link header
  2) create a *.bat file which contains only one line¹

C:/Programme/Opera7/opera.exe URI taken from X-POPFile-Link header

  3) run this batch file

All three steps can easily be done using manual sorting rules.

Now let's do it.

o Open sorting office and create a new rule
 o make it manual only
o under actions activate export message to a file
- file name: something like D:\temp\popfile.bat
- export format: Text
- (x) overwrite existing file
- export the file using this template²:

--8---cut here---start-8---
%SetPattRegExp='^X-POPFile-Link: (.*?)$'%-
c:\programme\opera7\opera.exe %RegExpMatch(%Headers)
--8---cut here---end---8---

o activate [x] run external program
- name is: d:\temp\popfile.bat
- [x] run hidden (only if you want ...)

o after that go to options and
- [x] execute action set of this rule by pressing the Hot Key
and choose one (I took Shift+Ctrl+Alt+R (= reclassify))
- untick [ ] check the selected message against this rule

Of course you must finetune file and path names or the path to your
favourite browser and maybe one or two other things (who knows?).

It works here. When I mark a message and press Shift+Ctrl+Alt+R
Opera gets the focus and I can throw my mail into the right bucket.
To be honest, I tested it only a few times but I really do BELIEVE
it works :-)

Needless to say that as long as there are no global sorting rules we
have to define such a rules for every single account.

For the copy/pasters:

--8---cut here---start-8---
BeginFilter
Name: popfile reclassify
Active: 1

SndFile:
SysSound: 0
SoundTime: 0:00-0:00
AllowTime: 0:00-0:00
EndFilter
--8---cut here---end---8---

HTH

Footnotes:
¹ I assume everyone here uses Opera
² if you don't know where to enter the template ... it's the second
   icon.

Can I import Outlook contacts?

2003-07-11 Thread Steve M. Sawczyn
Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone could tell me if there's a way to
import OUtlook contacts? I can export the entire contacts folder,
but am not sure if I can import than into the addressbook, or if
that would wind up getting imported as a contacts folder in the
bat's folder list. Unfortunately, the only way to export entries to
vcard files in Outlook seems to be to go one y one and, as I have
over a hundred entries, it'd be faster to re-type them.

Any ideas greatly appreciated and again, thanks.
