What is it that you don't like, the actual text between colons or
their graphical representation?
The latter can be eliminated by picking the PTV to view your messages
or to disable smileys when using the RTV.
The colons can be deleted too in your incoming mail in somewhat the
same way as headers can be added with a filter as I described in
mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] only adaptation to the template
should be that you call a recursive QT that looks for colons or text
enclosed between colons (whatever you want) and eliminates those in
the output.
However, I don't think my skills are up to creating a QT like that, so
if yours aren't up to it either you have to convince somebody else to
write it. Preferably on tbtech, since that's way too technical for
tbudl. ;-)

I've disabled smileys and I can (just about) live with the ASCII
representation because they've been part of Usenet for so long. What I
don't like about the other gizmos is the fact that, apart from the fact
they're TB specific, they're longer and more intrusive than smileys.

However, I don't think my skills are up to creating a QT like that, so

You can't attach images on TBUDL. What did it say?

RTT Anyone who has done that successfully?

Yes. But it all depends on your IMAP server... and whether you have
permissions to create folders.

On my server I can create new 'folders' using TB! However, many IMAP
servers do not create a folder on the file system but rather a file or
mailbox to store the messages. Consequently, some 'folders' cannot
store messages (since they don't exist or are simply a folder.) TB!
normally identifies these correctly and the folder name is grey not
black. Probably best to use an example:

A simple folder structure...

|
+INBOX
+Drafts
+Sent mail
+Trash

The corresponding files/folders on the server are:

Maildir
Maildir/INBOX
Maildir/Drafts
etc.

If I want to create another folder, say 'Junk mail' just right-click
on the account name and select New-Folder. Alternatively, use Manage
IMAP folder. BTW, use Ctrl-F2 beforehand to make sure you're connected
to the server. This will result in a new file on the server:

Maildir/Junk mail

However, if you try to create a folder in the INBOX it may not work...
on my server I can create a new folder, which in turn creates a file
called Maildir/INBOX;New folder on the server. IIRC I could not do
this with UW-IMAP.

Another example... I keep all my mailing lists in a folder called
Mailing lists. :-) This folder doesn't really exist though. The folder
tree looks like this:

+Mailing lists
 +TBBETA
 +TBUDL
 +TBOT
 etc.

...but on the server I have the following files:

Maildir/Mailing lists;TBBETA
Maildir/Mailing lists;TBUDL
etc.

As you can see there's no corresponding mailbox for Mailing lists
(which has grey text.) To create this folder structure in TB! use
Manage IMAP folders and specify the folder name as 'Mailing
lists;TBBETA' etc.

Finally, make sure you set up your folder subscriptions... again with
Manage IMAP folders.

When it works from the AB and not from a new message, presuming that
you insert the To: address before you start typing text, would suggest
that you've got multiple AB entries for TB or that you've got multiple
AB's and the one you're using as default doesn't contain your

Install problem

2004-10-30 Thread Thomas Fernandez
Hello TBUDL,

Today I went to see a friend for who I had created a POP account. In
order to use it, he needed an email client as he had only used webmail
before. He is not very computer literate and lives in the provinces,
so I drove out there today to get it running for him.

Of course I recommended TB Pro (as he is using it for his company) and
after the huge download that took some 45 minutes (I remember the
times when TB would fit on a floppy disk...), I started the MSI
install.

It hung with an error dialog:

Error 1335. The cabinet file 'Data1.cab' required [...] is corrupt and
cannot be used.

Abort / Retry / Ignore

Retry just yielded the same error message, so I clicked on Ignore,
which caused an Internal error 2350. I clicked on OK or something,
and TB's installer then proceded to go backwards and clean up.

I ended up setting up Outlook Expess for him, and it works. Sad thing
is, he had already given me his credit card so that I can register TB
for him at EUR 45.00 right away. Lost sales for Ritlabs.

What is that error? Win XP Pro SP1.

certificates in the certification path and using strong protection. DO
NOT ask for the key to be deleted on export.

The first password (and confirmation) you will be asked for will be to
protect the exported data and will not relate to the password for the
private key itself.

Once you have named the export file and completed the operation,
switch to TB and the Account Properties dialog. In the General
section you should click on Edit Personal Certificates button.

Use the Import function to load that freshly imported key to your TB
certificate store. Finally, click on the Reset signers ... button to
allow you to select that certificate for signing operations next time
you need to sign.

I think that's about it. Good luck!

Dear Roman,

@30-Oct-2004, 15:19 -0400 (30-Oct 20:19 UK time) Roman Katzer [RK] in
mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED] said to Marck:

Please include a signature delimiter in your messages. [...]

RK Well, as has happened to me once, he simply didn't have a
RK signature and such, no delimiter is required.

Incorrect. This list *requires* a signature delimiter, supplied by the
user. It's a rule. Please do NOT argue with moderations and list rules
.. particularly not on list.

RK (I'm not counting putting your name under the message as a
RK sgnature)

Well, I am. So are the other moderators. So are the list rules. I
accept that you don't think that we're right. But we are.

RK Maybe a sig delimiter would make more sense in the server-added
RK comment.

Nope. Doesn't work. Just how dumb do you really think we are? Please
think it through. How about the vast majority of us that *do* have sig
delimiters? Do you know what TB does when it sees two of them? One for
the user's sig and one for the list footer? No? I thought not. It
ignores the first and only obeys the last. That means that nearly all
signatures get left on replies while only list footers are trimmed.
Totally unacceptable.

Please think twice before arguing with a moderation. There's *always*
a good, well researched and thought through reason for such rules and
postings.

Thank you.

Hi Martin,

You can't attach images on TBUDL. What did it say?

Grmmpf. I thought I can as it is possible on TBBeta.

Could not create the mailbox named INBOX/Test

Server reports: CREATE only one hierachy level allowed

If you are trying to create a sub-folder of an existing folder, some
IMAP servers do not allow to do that. Instead, you should create a new
storage folder together with a sub-folder from the IMAP folder
manager using the following notation: Parwnt Folder/Sub-Folder, where
the / is the hierachy seperator use by the server.

As you can see there's no corresponding mailbox for Mailing lists
(which has grey text.) To create this folder structure in TB! use
Manage IMAP folders and specify the folder name as 'Mailing
 lists;TBBETA' etc.

Why do you use ; here?

Your INBOX is a mailbox file not a folder. You can only create a new
mailbox (storage folder) in a folder/directory or using the hierarchy
separator / ; etc. (see my previous post on the subject.) My server
uses mailboxes with the ; separator, e.g. Mailing lists;TBBETA.
UW-IMAP uses folders and mailboxes, e.g. Mailing lists/TBBETA. In this
example it's not possible to store messages in Mailing lists. With
Dovecot it is possible if I create a mailbox called Mailing lists.
Other IMAP servers may differ... what are you using?

Anyway, you could try and create the sub-folder Test by specifying the
folder name as INBOX/Test. You will have to use Manage IMAP folders to
do this. But this may not be possible with your server.

The semicolon is the hierarchy separator on my server.
