Scheduler/Calendar

2009-11-26 Thread Dave Goodman
I just completed moving TB! to a different machine (XP/SP3) via a TB!
backup/restore. Everything went smoothly and seems to be working well.

Except... When I click on Tools-Scheduler the calendar display that
comes up is for October-November 2007 and an error panel appears with
the message Failed to set calendar selected range.

Does anyone know what this is trying to tell me, and how to fix it?

Any enlightenment appreciated...

FQ: Scheduler Action Delete Message

2009-05-11 Thread Dierk Haasis
I'd like to have an additional Action for the Scheduler: Delete
Message.

Reason: Oftentimes I have messages, like vouchers, valuable only up to
a certain date; after that date they can be deleted. I'd like to
automate the process such that I get a reminder before the 'best
before' and then an automatic delete after the date if I do not delete
manually.

Scheduler, failed to set calendar selected range

2008-11-08 Thread Jos Klaassens
Hello tbudl,

When starting Scheduler a pop up says 'Failed to set calendar selected
range' and according to the calendar of Scheduler today is 31 oktober
(Notepad however does show today's right system time/date).
In the archive I found a message with nearly the same pop up

but, or I did miss something, unfortunately no solution.
Anything I can do to get rid of this error? Maybe first delete my two

Autobackup Scheduler?

2007-03-16 Thread Tom

Hello Everyone,

I upgraded to the latest verson of TB and was greeted by a pop-up
explaining the need to backup emails regularly. I had already read on
the download page that Auto Backup is a major improvement.

I have previously configured TB to schedule a full backup every week
and when the new pop-up suggesting the autobackup appeared, I looked
at the form and it looked like the previous scheduler. The only thing
I did not see was saving the file name with the datestamp. I guess I
must have put that in originally after getting some good advice here.

Now looking at the help file (index) I can see some info on backup
(for manual backup and very general), nothing on scheduler and nothing
on autobackup. The same under Tools. So what is the new Auto-backup
and in what way does it differ from what I have been doing in the old
version?

Basically the auto backup feature is something for those users that
aren't able to create a backup schedule with TB's scheduler. It's
somewhat less advanced (you can't use macros in the backup file name)
and it's much easier to enable it.

Why use a bogus one that causes an error rather than a real one
that does not receive any mail?

Well, it's a pretty unusual situation: I co-moderate a Yahoogroups mailing
list and I'd like to use TB to automate some approve/reject operation. I'm the
one to set the whole mechanism - moderation account properties in TB, filters,
etc - both for me and the other moderator. My colleague would run TB from
behind a firewall which prevents him to use any pop/smtp server except his
own, and he is allowed to use only one mailbox for all his email.

So, I formerly wrote my pop server only as a semplification here. Actually,
it's my collegue's one that I'd rather not involve for mail checking in his
moderation account, the one used to send back control messages to
Yahoogroups. Incoming messages of any kind are processed by his normal
account, where moderation filters for the mailing list operate. Then,
generated control messages are queued in the Outbox of the moderation
account, waiting for TB's scheduler to do its job and send them. If it worked.

Of course I could redesign the whole machine to adapt it to this no-scheduler
situation for him, but it would be uneasy, and inelegant. And sad.

server to do the same operation without actually downloading email with the
same account, but I should also disable the Windows sound that would bother me
at each error, every five minutes :-)

Why use a bogus one that causes an error rather than a real one
that does not receive any mail?

That would be an option too. Just keep in mind that this stops working

Scheduler stops working

2005-12-17 Thread Luca

I need my scheduler to send mail with a 5 minutes interval, but it stops
working after half an hour or so.

I see that this is a known bug, but in my case it seems more serious with
respect to its description here:
https://www.ritlabs.com/bt/view.php?id=1944nbn=7

I tried many ways: date limits, number of repetitions ... it always stops
working whenever it likes.

Is there any workaround for this?

Tia.

Try this: put YOUR address in the BCC and send it out, even you dont

Sometimes. Personally, I find Outlook's PIM capabilities far better
and easier to use than The Bat!'s when it comes to the calendar, the
task list, integration with other programs, mobile devices, and
network use.

However, with WinFS (in theory), personal information will become an
integral part of the OS. All personal information will be shared among
all PIM applications. Your Outlook address book will have all the same
people in it as your The Bat! address book does. But each application
will still be able to have its own data associated with the person
(templates, for example).

There are either one or two bugs in the program depending on which version
you have.

To test the version you have try the following:

Assuming you want the Scheduler to operate at 19.00, set the time to 22.00.
When you click OK it will jump back to 20.00, and actually trigger at 20.00

These bugs have been reported and have been marked as confirmed by Bugtrack.

Mark unread - and some scheduler stuff too

2003-10-30 Thread Pekka

Hello Batpeople,

I have looked through the sorting office over and over again but I
can't find a way to mark a message unread with a filter.

Has anyone got a tip? How to mark a message (which is created with the
scheduler) automatically unread when it is directed to a certain
folder? I need a visual confirmation that there's something worth
checking in that folder - playing a sound file is not enough. I can
flag the message or change the colour group but the only way to affect
the appearance of the folder in the folder tree is to mark a message
unread...

And no, I don't want to actually *send* those reminders to myself, not
with a dial-up connection and a tight budget.

Also, when creating a reminder message with the scheduler, there's an
area called description where you can type whatever the reminder is
about. At least that's the way I understood it. However, when the
reminder message is created it only says something like This message
was created at blah blah blah by the scheduler. The event description
follows:

And after that, nothing. So, where's that description?

And yes, the scheduler's clock is off by one hour :-(

Send those reminders to yourself. But first, in Options/Network
Administration, on the Network tab, select (tick) Allow Local Delivery.
That way, the message will be sent directly to your Inbox or to the
folder your Incoming filter(s) may move it (not dialling up, etc.) and
it will be marked as unread, just like any incoming message.

Hi Pekka,

I don't know anything about the scheduler but I do know that you can
have msg delivered locally, meaning they are send from one account to

Hi Pekka,

Try this. Copy the msg to the folder you want the msg to be in with a
filter. When using the copy msg in a filter on regular msg's, the msg
is automagicly made unread.

Hello Roger,

My scheduler has always had a bug in it whereby it actuates one hour earlier
than the time I program it to do something. If you have the same problem
and want it to remind you in five minutes time, try setting it for one hour
 and five minutes.

Oh my God!!! That _is_ my problem!!! Obviously, for my tests I was always
setting the time just 2 or 3 minutes from now.

I'll be very interested to hear if this solves your problem. I have reported
this behaviour as a possible bug but have never been able to get
confirmation from anyone else, possibly because in some cases it may not be
 obviously noticeable

Yes, it does solve the problem in my case. Actually, I am replying to
your message now because I set a reminder a few minutes ago.

Thanks so much :-))

It works for me. When you right click on a message, there's an option
called Remind Later. Simply select one of the options listed in

It works for me. When you right click on a message, there's an option
called Remind Later. Simply select one of the options listed in
that sub-menu. Or, go directly into the scheduler and right-click on
the list on the right and then select New to create a new task.

The scheduler is more a task list than an agenda like Outlook.

My scheduler has always had a bug in it whereby it actuates one hour earlier
than the time I program it to do something. If you have the same problem
and want it to remind you in five minutes time, try setting it for one hour
and five minutes.

I'll be very interested to hear if this solves your problem. I have reported
this behaviour as a possible bug but have never been able to get
confirmation from anyone else, possibly because in some cases it may not be
obviously noticeable

Not to be rude or anything... but 12 hours really isn't that long of a

have work, other tasks to attend to, not all matters get replied to
instantly.

Let me ask a much simpler question. Do any of you use the Scheduler

Hmn, you're right . . . if you configure it to move to the next unread
on pressing ( ' ), nothing happens unless you are in the message list
pane. However, configured to use ctrl+alt+right as the shortcut key it
moves on to the next unread message without regard to what pane you are
in.

PF Same with navigating between the 3 panes. Before this could be done
PF with TAB or SHIFT+TAB. Now, it does not always work. (Disclaimer: I
PF have just tried it in 2.01.3 and here it seems to work).

On my 2.01.3 I have no trouble with this -- it navigates among panes as
expected. One thing to make note of is that if you are viewing an html
message with links, once you get to the message-view pane tabbing will
take you through the links before moving on to the folder pane.

PF I would like to be able to set the scheduler to run backups. Am I
PF right when I say this cannot be done at the moment?

Quite certain this is not possible, yet -- but, yes, it would be a nice
inclusion.

PF Also, it would be nice to be able to run backup minimised (while
PF working with TB). This isn't possible either, right?

AFAIK, no, it's not possible -- but, do you mean mean have the Backup
happening in the background while still allowing you to work with TB? If
so, that would be a very difficult thing as it's hard to back something
up while data is still being manipulated within it . . .

TheBat-users,

Since version 2, I think keyboard navigation has suffered. That or I
don't know how to make it behave as it did pre-2.

 your scheduler work ok otherwise?

I haven't tried to do too much with it yet other than trying a few test alarms. The
first didn't give any audible warning although a message box popped up - I think that
I probably mucked something up dodging all those silly error messages GRIN. My
subsequent tries got both a popup reminder and an audible alarm. I have noticed
though that when you click on the Notification Settings/ Use as default that it
won't stick. I have to reset the default everytime I set up a new alarm.

I'd appreciate some advise from one of our more knowledgeable members here - is there
any way to easily check whether this bug - (The Failed to set calendar selected range
error message appearing on every use of the Scheduler and on each change of tab) has
already been reported and if it hasn't how do I go about it.

Pat, I also noticed that your signature doesn't seem to be stripping on reply, you

2003-10-17 Thread Terry
Hi Bob,

Whenever I select the scheduler either with ALT F11 or Tools -
Scheduler I get a popup warning box The Bat! - Failed to set
calendar selected range. After I click on OK the scheduler
starts, but the first time I click on each tab in it I receive the
same error message. It then seems to run okay until next time I
open the Scheduler, when it all happens again.

I get the same error if I try to access the Scheduler via SmartBat.

Sorry that I have nothing helpful, but I can confirm the problem.
