[tw] Re: PrettyDatesPlugin, problems

2009-06-23 Thread Michael Johanson

I see what you are all saying and yes, it should work but in my case I
don't even got a "by" in my code. I use the TW you get from
http://mptw.tiddlyspot.com/
Scroll up and you'll see that it is missing.

The most strange thing is that nothing happens when I change the code,
I can delete it and nothing happens.
As stated earlier, I'm not the best at this things so maybe you guys
know something I don't.

Hope I don't get on your nervs, wan't to learn!

PS. A little reminder: My update form look like this, e.g: (updated

It does not look like this: Michael Johanson, 27 September 2009

TagglyTagging is powerful but for users not familiar TiddlyWiki it can
provide far too much information that distracts from the application a
particular TiddlyWiki might be designed for. However it is a
wonderful TiddlyWiki builder's and TiddlyWiki power user's tool.

TagglyTagging requires good spacial recognition and some understanding
not only of a TiddlyWiki's structure but an understanding of
TagglyTagging itself. For those unfamiliar with these things it can
become a maze to get lost in.

By the way TWT-Treeview is a single file and does not rely on any
external files or images for working in Firefox, Chrome and Opera. For
those who can put up with the glacial speed of IE then they can put up
with external images that are conveniently supplied because IE doesn't
recognize embedded images.

All TiddlyWikis refresh the MainMenu when it's changed and seldom has
anyone noticed them as quite time consuming. In TWT-Treeview it is
forced to refresh because it can be silently changed by adding items
to it through Treeview. Also if auto save is enabled it saves after
every edit which can be changed.

It is self defeating to try to build a tree structure without seeing
immediate results. To have to put work into adding topics or branches
to the menu and then save and reload to see them is silly. The results
are instantaneous with the PageTemplate the way it was designed. I
would strongly disagree that changing it speeds anything up.

Thanks for your evaluation it's good to get feedback.

How about putting a   or   right in front of "by" (as in

[tw] Re: excessive linebreak when inserting <>

2009-06-23 Thread Tobias Beer

Or, to generally force one(!) line break, whenever a macro call is
immediately followed by that troublesome syntax, e.g. headers, tables,
etc... which would have to be "escaped" somehow, if the trailing
characters were not intended as such wiki-markup.

THUS...
<>!another header

WOULD RESULT IN:
***macro output***
Another Header

Or using an equivalent markup to force a linebreak while having the
"troublesome" wikitext immediately follow the macro call, like so:

If the macro call were producing it, it would be inside the SPAN
(provided the macro call is actually within the SPAN and not breaking
out of its place).

I think what you're seeing might just be the "natural" BR caused by a
line break following the macro call.

However, for the DcTableOfContentsPlugin you might try adding the
following to your StyleSheet:
 .dcTOC ul {
 margin-bottom: 0;
 }

I'd basically just uploaded it; Doug and Saq were working on the code.

Hi FND,

Thanks for the idea. Unfortunately, it doesn't work, because the
is not enclosed by the newly created ?!? Doesn't that mean that
the "macro-call" initiated via <> is somehow producing it?

I saw you were one of the last to 'fiddle with' (I mean maintain :o)
DcTableOfContentsPlugin.
Any idea where the could come from?

It has got to be js/html related... I mean, I couldn't create that via
css, could I?

Thanks!

Tested on IE6 and it worked upgrading two wikis with .htm filetypes,
but for the same files with a .hta filetype it still opens a new
browser window with ActiveX content and stalls at the "Reloading the
new core code" stage, wiping the store.

[tw] TiddlyWiki & Pogoplug

2009-06-23 Thread Nicholas Frota

Hi, I'm new to the group... I've been trying to use tiddlywiki on a
pogoplug folder but I'm having no luck.

Pogoplug is an app that allows access to your external HD on the
web... My goal is to have a shared folder and allow my partners to
edit it too.

I tried the same trick with monkeyGTD and it works fine, but what I
truly want is the original TiddlyWiki...

I think the issue is the .jar file, I know older TW versions didn't
use it, where can I find it?

If anything, I can grant access to anyone that wants to help me, and
we can go from there.

Thank you a lot.

Well, that's up to the individual macro's implementation.
For example, the following does not insert a spurious line break:
 foo <> bar

You could use a custom class wrapper* around the respective macro:
 {{myCustomClass{<>}}}
Then add the following to your StyleSheet:
 .myCustomClass br {
 display: none;
 }

This is interesting indeed, though a bit of a hassle for predominantly
single file users. As an alternative, I find that the sitemap-view of
mptw's tagglyTagging offers quite a powerful (and fast) tree
too ...without collapsing images or any external files.

Also, saving changes to a tiddler seems to be quite time consuming on
http://twt-treeview.tiddlyspot.com ...I guess that is due to
refreshing the mainmenu after every change. So, if you're fine with
having it updated only when refreshed, I recommend to not make any
changes to the main menu section in the page template. Though this
would, of course, result in a more "static" version of "el arbol" ;o)

Tobias.

[tw] excessive linebreak when inserting <>

When I use certain <> in tiddlers they seem to be followed by
a single (excessive)

For example, when I use <> provided by

[tw] Problems with importtiddlerplugin and CCTW

2009-06-23 Thread Kashgarinn

Hi there.

I'm using CCtiddlywiki, the latest version, and I'm having a problem
importing from an older version of CCTW to the new one.

- I was able to successfully import with the importtiddlerplugin, but
the tiddlers didn't get saved properly. That means when I refresh
everything disappears which I tried to import.

Is there some function I could use to sync all the newly added
tiddlers? I've got 1600+ I'd like to sync.. so something autonomous
would be better than having to manually do it.

I use ExportTiddlers frequently. Recently I started a TWT-Treeview
TiddlyWiki after Morris Grey made me one in Blackicity theme. I'll
probably eventually convert all my TiddlyWikis to it.

Yesterday I imported ExportTiddlersPlugin into it. It does not work.

Did I overlook something? [It's tagged systemConfig.]

IE6 seems to be a problem with .hta files. The process halts on the
"Reloading the new core code" stage, having opened up a blank browser
window with an ActiveX dialog confirmation sought. Closing and
reloading shows the upgrade as taken place but the store has been
wiped.

Trying IE6 on a .htm file worked smoothly on one tiddlywiki, but got
stuck at the "Saving the new core code" stage on another so no upgrade
took place.

[tw] Re: Bracketed strings in Custom Fields not stable.

FND,

I think it was on the specific case when I imported a load of tiddlers
from another TW.
I noticed a field entries loosing their brackets and some words going
missing while i have been working with them.
I'm willing to keep mending them manually. It would take longer than
the whole of my project to find the bug by removing plugins and
scripts.

It might be a good idea for me to 'hard wire' the field value into the
tiddlers rather than adding them using editField plugin. Do you think
this is a good idea?

creates form for people to fill in. The idea is that they can save the

[tw] Help with TW notes

2009-06-23 Thread iain

Help

I have somehow buggered up the template for "New Master Topic" so when
I click on it the Tiddler opens saying "Type the text for 'Enter the
name for your new master topic here" and in tag bag the term "Topics
Text" appears. I suspect it is the latter that buggers up the Tiddler
because I think it means that the macro that creates the master topic
doesn't run.

But how do I fix it?

My first approach would be to replace "New Master Topics" but I cannot
find it in both the buggered one and my working backup version.

So I would appreciate some advice on what to do next.

Thanks
