[tw5] Re: unable to use edit mode text field TWSingleFile, local copy

2020-08-20 Thread A Gloom
@NU

TYVM, the links I was trying to use for .37 were failing (Firefox was
blocking the install) but that link work-- now I can continue using
NoScript : ) I tried .39RC3 and it hadn't addressed the issue yet.

@Birthe

Yeah, NoScript can be buggy, I was lucky and didn't have to deal with the
worst of its issues. Since websites use so much scripting and cross domain
content, it can play Hell with websites but it works for me : )

As for work, I had to make a huge diagram for the latest wiki-- to
illustrate the button controlled transclusions and animations between the
story river story shell tiddler and customized side bar navigation
tiddler-- no closing old tiddlers / opening new ones-- all content change
is done inside the shell tiddlers by transclusion.

[tw5] Re: Embed wiki into Microsoft Teams (BOB)

2020-08-20 Thread TW Tones
Ste,

Using a new sharepoint Wikipage library, I load a wiki with the .aspx
extension, I then enforced checkout on the wikifile (Whole of library
setting) and only the one person who has it checked out can save. This
method permits serial editing, one editor after another.

I chose a Wikipage library because office 365 favours documents in such
libraries and loads them faster (anecdotal evidence) as they need to load
to interact like any webpage.

Tony

[tw5] Re: GSD5 plugin issue with tiddler folding

2020-08-20 Thread Calvino
Hi Tonnes,
Thanks for that explanation.

What I suspect is that the GSD5 plugin is intended to create a standalone
system, since it outright replaces the core ViewTemplate stuff and has no
reveals. EIther that, or it dates from earlier in the evolution of TW5 to a
time there was no fold mechanism.

Now I'm trying to figure out how much work it might be to get it to play
nicely with the core and with other plugins.
All the Best,

It took a little effort to untangle what Chameleon has done... they tried
to hide it all, but ultimately, everything that exists in a TiddlyWiki can
be viewed.

Note: if you want to dig into a little of what Chameleon did, try this
link: https://wiki.waifu.haus/#Admin

The following will reproduce the sidebar TOC tab:

1) Create a tiddler named "TOC", tagged with $:/tags/SideBar, containing:

<$list filter="[tag[TOC]]">

<$link>
<$macrocall $name="tag-pill-body" tag=<> icon={{!!icon}}
colour={{!!color}} palette={{$:/palette}} element-tag="""$button"""/>

2) Create a tiddler with any name you like, tagged with "TOC"
3) Add a field named "color", leave the value blank for now
4) Press "done" (checkmark) to save the tiddler
5) Press "edit" (pencil) to re-edit the tiddler
6) The "color" field will now show a color picker interface... choose a
color
7) If you want to have an icon on the TOC "tag", add a field named "icon"
and enter the name of an image tiddler (e.g., $:/core/images/spiral)
8) Press "done".

The tiddler you created should now appear in the Sidebar TOC tab, with the
color and icon you have chosen.
Repeat steps (2) through (8) to create more entries in the TOC.

enjoy,

[tw5] Re: [ Streams ] : feedback and issues

2020-08-20 Thread Saq Imtiaz
@Keelan your summary for how search could be set up for you is correct.

 I don't know if it makes a great generic solution for Streams users since
they might customize their node titles to be generated differently, or wish
to rename without it affecting search results. The best way to figure that
out of course, is to let people try it.

I wrote the code that follows the parent field to the root, I just need to
adjust to only follow when the title of the node includes the parent
tiddler title as a prefix. Will do so as soon as I get the chance.

[tw5] Re: [ Streams ] : feedback and issues

2020-08-20 Thread Keelan Cook
Saq, if I'm understanding correctly, that does sound intriguing. Let me
rehash my understanding of what you are saying, just to make sure I'm
getting it.

I do understand (and very much like) that the sub-nodes are not actually in
a hierarchy, and that they are attached through the parent field. That's
one of the big strengths of the plugin. Each tiddler is actually a stand
alone note that can be transcluded a dozen times into different content.
Literature notes are durable that way. And when I am creating content, a
paragraph can easily be moved to another place in the flow of the article.
That makes writing and editing a smooth experience.

Furthermore, it does allow me to change the title of a note to whatever I
desire, because the title is not the determining factor for its presence in
the stream. It relies on the title being in the parent field, and the
relink plugin ensures it stays there if I change it.

However, what it sounds like you are suggesting is a search option that
uses the parent field and checks it somehow to follow up to the "main"
tiddler for that stream. Doing this would search all of the tiddlers in the
stream, but show the "main" tiddler as the search result for all of them...
with one exception. If I have changed the title to something that does not
include the "main" tiddler title, then it would not be included, it would
stand alone as it's own search result.

Am I understanding you correctly? If so, that does, indeed sound like a
good option, and I think it would streamline the flow for researching with
Streams.

Concerning the tiddler you mentioned, here are the contents of that tiddler:

<>/<>

Thanks again, Saq.

2020-08-20 Thread NU
Noscript is aware of the bug, but the latest Noscript RC (.39) does not fix
the issue with local Tiddlywikis.

You can roll back to 11.0.37 by disabling automatic updates and getting the
old release from the Noscript site:
https://secure.informaction.com/download/releases/noscript-11.0.37.xpi

Hopefully this issue will be resolved in the future.

Hmm... I think that conditional is needed if you are creating a new tiddler
and type something into the text field, and then press the delete button
from the editor toolbar. In that situation, the tiddler doesn't exist yet,
but the tiddler.fields.text value is not blank, so it should ask before
discarding the input. I suggest checking the above interaction and see if
it still asks.

In any case, modifying this central TWCore tiddler is ill-advised, since it
can interfere with upgrading later on. Reporting an issue on github is the
right course of action, so Jeremy can take a look and possibly find a
better fix.

2020-08-20 Thread Birthe C
Ste,

I am using whitespace theme and stories plugin. Using whitespace theme you
have the option to have sidebar at the left or at the right. I have sidebar
on the left. I do not have a mobile but on a small screen I get the page
controls in the bottom - but the sidebar arrow does not work, that is true.

Have you tried using the mono theme, I think you might find it a better
fit. I am using it with stroll.

Thanks Tony and Eric for your analyses, in
*$:/core/modules/widgets/navigator.js* I tried removing the following

The code that I removed was an "or" condition so it should have worked

 Yea, that's a bug. ... The "workaround fix is" put a // at the end of

Hi Gloom,

Quite a detective work you have done.
I do not know anything about it, but I searched and found a lot of
complaining. Along the lines of blocking most websites and unusable, not
remembering settings from session to session and stuff like that.

Admiring your work,
Birthe

2020-08-20 Thread Adithya B
Thanks for the suggestions and enthusiasm :)

I am too a bit rusty with javascript but am gaining confidence as I work on
this more.

I just fixed this today (check the latest version on
adithyab.tiddlyspot.com):
```
monospace me, too?
```

Do you use github? It would help if you can start filing these on the
github repo.
https://github.com/adithya-badidey/TW5-codemirror-plus

I will use that to chip through these slowly.

Cheers,
Adithya

 Using Firefox 79 64 bit on both Windows and Linux. Occurs with
 downloader addon both enabled and disabled.

 Go to tiddlywiki.com, scroll to the GettingStarted tiddler, click the
 big blue "Download empty" button, open the empty.html file in Firefox 79,
 click the edit button on the GettingStarted tiddler or make a new tiddler.
 Behaviour doesn't change if it's being saved to the Download directory or
 a
 subdirectory.

 However, I can create and edit tiddlers on tiddlywiki.com. If I
 subsequently download (using the tiddlywiki save changes button) and open
 the local copy of the tiddlywiki.com site, the issue reappears.

 I am using Chrome as a workaround for now but this is not ideal as it
 lacks key functionality that Firefox offers.

[tw5] Re: unable to use edit mode text field TWSingleFile, local copy

2020-08-20 Thread A Gloom
THE LATEST NOSCRIPT UPDATE (11.0.38) FOR FIREFOX PREVENTS ANY EDITING
ABILITY OF LOCAL DRIVE SINGLE FILE TW

It is an issue with NoScript 11.0.38 (an firefox security (javascript
blocking) extension). When I disable the extension or remove it, the edit
mode issue resolves. NoScript auto updated the day the problems started.
I cannot find a previous version (11.0.37 & below) or roll back the update
to do further troubleshooting.

I have tried reinstalling NoScript, every settings, starting/restarting, etc

The troubleshooting workflow:
1. download empty.html from tiddlywiki com (browser save window opens, save
to local drive as I have done everytime before)
2. open empty.html in Firefox
3. close GettingStarted tiddler
4. click new tiddler button in icon bar below searchbar
the result is seen in the screenshot shown previously

does it for all local single file TW's (vers 5.1.22 5.1.21 5.1.19)
doesn't do it with new tiddlers opened online at tiddlywiki com
will upload one of the malfunctioning wikis to online to demo that they
will allow editing online but not locally

 It is also *possible *to mouse click to save the page, at least in
 chrome. But I'd agree with Mark - it seems like one of those inexplicable
 behaviours and in the past these have often (at least that's my
 impression)
 been because people have used the browser to save.

[tw5] Re: Delete confirmation for blank tiddlers

*$:/core/modules/widgets/navigator.js*,
which sets up an event listener that triggers: *handleDeleteTiddlerEvent*

Examining this function, we find the following lines of code:

if((this.wiki.getTiddler(originalTitle) || (tiddler.fields.text || "") !==
"")
 && !confirm($tw.language.getString("ConfirmDeleteTiddler",{variables:{title
: confirmationTitle}}))) {
 return false;
 }

This code checks to see if getTiddler() returns a non-null value (i.e., the
tiddler exists) or if the current text field is not blank (i.e., text has
been entered while editing). If either of these conditions is true, then it
prompts for confirmation. If you press "cancel", then the code skips the
delete action (return false). If you press "ok", the code continues on to
perform the deletion.

>From the above, it appears that it *should* be asking to confirm since the
tiddler does exist.
However, it seems that this is not what is actually happening.
I don't see where the logic is broken, but this is where it occurs.
