Hello folks,

I like Brian's idea of widening the tiddlers to the left (up to the 
available width) when editing. But this makes the whole layout very 
"unsteady".

Wouldn't it be worth thinking about offering not only switching between 
with and without preview when editing. But a third variant, which only 
shows the preview?
This is what ReText (a Markdown editor) does, for example. The best way to 
use this function is via a keyboard shortcut.
Just an idea. This is certainly not the right topic for it

Apopos topic. @pmario I think I have suppressed the possibility that this 
was about the empty.html, and I was too focused on my view. Sorry. 

Apart from that, variable widths depending on your own screen would still 
be worth considering for a default setting?
You could use a min-width as well as a max-width for the Storyriver. 
Designers and graphic artists like to work with the "golden ratio". 

Even though, like Mario, I think a story that is too broad with long 
sentences is hard to read. Here a good compromise could be found with a 
variable width.
Because we all know, that never fits all people.

Hallo,

I am of the opinion that in the case of centring, the width of the story 
must always be a percentage (e.g. 60%). 
The sidebar must have a minimum width. For example 300px. We have two 
problems with this. Firstly, the breakpoint for the sidebar no longer 
works. 
Consequently, falling below the page width must be used for this 
breakpoint. 

The calculation for the attributes left of the class .tc-sidebar-scrollable 
and .tc-story-river should be reviewed or calculated anew. 
The story must not be in the middle because otherwise the sidebar might 
fall out of the window on the righthand side.

As far as the implementation is concerned, I don't yet know exactly where 
to change it because I don't yet know how all the elements are connected 
and which values have to be changed at which point.
I tested these values using Mario's example 
, 
directly in the browser.

Hello everybody,

I think a "simple tool" like TiddlyTweeter wants is already there. It is 
the basic settings. The community shows that for people who play a bit with 
it (and know CSS), many different designs are possible even without such a 
tool.
You can still wish for it, of course :-)

But perhaps a different presentation of the setting options would be 
useful. For example, instead of the typical table (property on the left, 
input field on the right), a simplified representation of the boxes and 
margins, as used in TiddlyWikki, might be useful. This might also save 
translation texts, because it would then be largely self-explanatory.

... and because it is used so often here...  Just thoughts ;-)

Hi Mario, we just had the pleasure, but others are welcome to read my 
opinion as well.

Not a bad idea as far as it goes. Better than the original alignment of the 
empty.html.
But I would like to see another variant "All centered". Of course, both 
side by side but shown together in the center.

Freut mich wenn es dir auch gefällt. Aber welches Format meinst du an

auch noch wenn man Macros übergibt.

Vielleicht beides? In der heruntergeladenen Variante von dir waren ja 
einige Tiddler nicht vorhanden (obwohl im Journal aufgelistet). Nach dem 
ich dann mit der neuen nodejs-basierten Variante meine vorhandene 
Offline-Variante überschrieben habe, ist mir das erst aufgefallen. Ich 
konnte dann die vorige Version wieder herstellen und habe dann in der 
nodejs-basierten 
Variante den Stand von vorher erarbeitet. Das steht jetzt online und davon 
sind die exportierten Dateien.

Mail :-)

Hi Mario,

ich konnte die Füße nicht stillhalten...
Da es beim import der "$:/editions/tw5.com/macros" von TW ja Probleme mit 
meiner Version gibt habe ich meine Variante angepasst.
Dadurch das ich meine Variante häufig benutzt habe muss ich aber manche 
Tiddler jetzt wieder umarbeiten, allen voran die Widgets und alles wo meine 
Version von <<.fromVersion>> verwendet wurde.
Mir ist auch aufgefallen, Du hast beim Import das Macro <> 
vergessen!
...und das orginale Macro <<.from-version>> ist nur auf englisch. :-(

Auf dem üblichen Platz (https://fbb.uber.space/otherprj/TiddlyWiki-Doku.html) 
habe ich die neue Version hochgeladen.

@PMario, I know you're busy, but I'm stumbling a little bit right now.

After you have given me the link to the generated structure I have 
downloaded this GIT repository (https://github.com/pmario/TiddlyWiki5.git).
Then installed tddlywiki with NPM and ... well, it didn't take off like 
that.
I then created a new folder. Initialized a new wiki there and copied the 
tiddlers from your repository to this folder. That's it!
Well almost. This version, this is the old variation "without" my work - 
without the new tiddlers.

The complete thing downloaded as a ZIP file (
https://github.com/pmario/TiddlyWiki5/archive/refs/heads/german-translation.zip)
 
delivers what I wanted.
I think that's not the way it's meant to be?

What I also do not believe that this procedure is correct and helps us in 
any way. Even if I log in to GitHub, I wouldn't be able to upload changes 
that way, would I?

As written above: *Yes a short tutorial would be fine.*

@PMario, ich weiss ja du hast viel zu tun, aber ich hänge gerade ein wenig.

Nachdem Du mir den Link zur erzeugten Struktur gegeben hast, habe ich mir 
dieses GIT-Repository (https://github.com/pmario/TiddlyWiki5.git) 
heruntergeladen.
Dann mit NPM tddlywiki installiert und ... ja starten ging so nicht.
Ich habe dann einen neuen Ordner angelegt dort ein neues wiki initialisiert 
und die Tiddler von deinem Repository in diesen Ordner kopiert. Et voilà !
Naja fast. Das ist in diesem Fall die alte Variante "ohne" meine Arbeit - 
ohne die neuen Tiddler.

Das ganze als ZIP-Datei heruntergeladen (
https://github.com/pmario/TiddlyWiki5/archive/refs/heads/german-translation.zip)
 
liefert aber das was ich wollte.
Ich denke mal so ist das nicht gewollt?

Was ich auch nicht glaube das dieses Prozedere korrekt ist und uns 
irgendwie weiterhilft. Selbst wenn ich mit bei GitHub anmelde, könnte ich 
so keine Änderungen hochladen oder?

Wie schon oben geschrieben: *Ja eine kurze Anleitung wäre recht.*

erzeugen.
Also warte ich jetzt erstmal auf deine Beschreibung wie ich das, was du auf 
GitHub eingestellt hast, zum laufen bekomme.
Warten bedeutet bei mir ich spiele mal ein bissel rum :-)

Ich arbeite mit Linux. Mit Node.js hab ich auch schon gearbeiten, nur bei 
GitHub kenn ich mich so gar nicht aus.
Auch habe ich mir die Nutzung von TiddlyWiki unter Node.js noch nicht so 
genau angesehen ich brauchte es bis dato nur offline.
Seufz... das heißt wohl ich muss mir doch einen Account bei GitHub zulegen?

Ja eine kurze Anleitung wäre recht.

super ich freu mich. Wegen deinen Anmerkungen hätte ich auch noch ein paar 
Sätze.
Mit den Links zu "*den englischen original Tiddlern*" meinst Du sicher das 
wikidokulink-Macro oder? Das ist mir leider erst etwas spät eingefallen 
sonst hättte ich das schon eher überall eingebaut, zumindest da wo es mir 
wichtig erscheint.
Apropos spät, das mit den "$:/editions/tw5.com/macros" ist mir erst nach 
dem Upgrade auf die aktuellste Version aufgefallen. Wie gesagt war das mit 
dem Weitergeben gar nicht so gedacht :-)
Die viele der ursprünglichen Macro-Namen habe ich aber übernommen. Das 
dürfte nicht so das Problem sein. 
Außerdem bedeutet das ja nicht das Du alles machen sollst. Ich kann das ja 
ebenso erledigen.

Meinen Danbo kannst Du gerne auf GitHub "verfügbar" machen. Brauchs Du 
dafür irgend was von mir? 
Alternativ kann ich diesen auch auf Wikipedia bzw. auf Wikimedia.Commons

yes, there are several.
Since I did not originally plan to collaborate, I have built in some "own"
macros. Mainly because I didn't know the mechanisms from the original
documentary resp. don't know them all yet.
But I'm still learning and if I have to, I'll rewrite these tiddlers, of
course.

What I am very interested in: How does this work now?
I'm not on GitHub yet (...I've only just started getting to grips with git)
and would only sign up if there was no other way.
Or if it makes it easier for everyone to work.

verdoppelt habe. Aber ja, es sind schon einige.
Da ich ursprünglich die Mitarbeit nicht geplant habe, habe ich da einige
"eigene" Makros eingebaut. Hauptsächlich weil ich die Mechanismen aus dem
Original nicht kannte bzw. noch nicht alle kenne.
Ich lerne aber weiter dazu und wenn ich muss, schreibe ich diese Tiddler
natürlich um.

Was mich brennend interessiert: Wie läuft das jetzt ab?
Auf GitHub bin ich noch nicht (...habe gerade erst angefangen mich mit git
zu Besschäftigen) und würde mich das erst anmelden, wenn es nicht anders
geht.

Hello everyone,

I have my difficulties with the English language. That is why I have 
inserted many tiddlers from the documentation of tiddlywiki.com into the 
German translation by pmario and ChrisK.

Of course, it would be a great pity if it was only on my hard drive. How 
can I make the tiddlers I have translated so far available for the 
"official documentation"?

Ich habe meine Schwierigkeiten mit der englischen Sprache. Deshalb habe ich
