Hello, Is there a way to create keyboard shortcuts for the tools of each tiddler, i.e. the "clone" feature or the "open in another window" feature. [tw5] Re: I'm looking for a quote
Sorry to disrupt, but the above quote reminds me of a documentary I saw about the mind of Einstein, and how it was ultimately his creativity that birthed his famous theories. He delved into the relationship of space-time in a way that few other physicists explored at the time, existing as they may already in fiction (though I haven't read any sci-fi published during the 1900s to know if these concepts were actually already in fiction by then). These thoughts get me into such a mood, pondering relationships that exist between art and function... function and art... why do proponents of either often dismiss the other? They exist so beautifully together... [tw5] Re: RFC Request for Comment - color intuitions
Hi TW Tones, Like Bimlas, I've also applied this custom styling in my personal wiki through title links. In my case, specifically in the Timeline Macro, or any list that will call up <>, I've personalized title links to show up like this. Excuse the draft-y, unorganized picture (my personal wiki is disorganizedly organized) I've set my <> to do all sorts of detection to automatically add icons, buttons, text, or just a style to a tiddler link. In the above picture, here are detections, and icons/buttons/styles added: - system tiddlers have a style, and are prefixed with a <> macro in a dropdown localized to that specific tiddler - type:text tiddlers are styled in monospace - tiddlers tagged *tiddlywiki* show the tagpill beside them - tagged:ToDo tiddlers are prefixed with a button that will set/unset tag:ToDo-Done, - tagged:ToDo-Done tiddlers are line-through'ed, - external-link tiddlers (tiddlers with a field:*URL*) are prefixed with a button *** that will open a new tab pointing to field:*URL* ...and so on. Sorry if the above is a bit out of the topic, I just wanted to give a personal insight... through the building of these quite customized detectors, I've found the easiest way was for me to be able to add styles on the fly. If you think this is relevant, I can extract a bit of my wiki to give to you as a demo of the system I built. -jd On Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 1:42:04 PM UTC+9, TW Tones wrote: > > Folks, > > I have being playing with CSS and its integration into TiddlyWiki and > realise there is more than enough opportunity especially with the new Custom > styles by data tags > <https://tiddlywiki.com/#Custom%20styles%20by%20data-tags> etc... to > realise a smart, subtle and intuitive interface. > > This is not an idea for a theme, nor even just CSS but taking a range > tiddlywiki tiddler and page elements, that change and provide a subtle > variation particularly with colour, pale backgrounds, boarder style, > thickness and shadows. > > Examples may be > >- A pail green background when a tiddler is in draft mode, >- A Dark a green border if the tiddler begins with "New Tiddler" >- A yellow boarder if the tiddler is an Orphan >- A Pale grey background if the tiddler an unedited shadow >- and many more > > The idea is to take common facts about tiddlers or the wiki as a whole and > use these to leave subtle messages to the user > >- We need not know the exact detail of such indicators, because if you >use a consistent set they will become evident over time. > - This would be supported further, if we *produce a de facto > standard and shared it widely *(or added to the standard > distribution) >- They should be designed for light and dark themes and not influence >the overall theme too much. >- Scanning down the story list it will be quick and easy to locate >tiddlers based on these subtle colors >- When viewing or editing a tiddler various things will be evident >that may not normally be visible, like this tiddler is also a tag. >- Using color and other elements, even just coloured shadows will not >impact the layout in anyway. >- Perhaps something similar could be added to the standard list item >so links suggest the tiddlers content as well. >- All this could be toggled on and off with a click. > > So I started this topic for *feedback and inspiration from the community*, > if you have any ideas such as the following please comment. > >- Identify elements we can style in both view and edit mode >- Suggested meaning for things like dotted boarders >- Or meaning full associations with colors eg; red warning, green new, >etc... >- What are the ways to identify these different attributes? eg no >tags/tags {{{ [{!!tags}is[blank]then[notags]] }}} {{{ >[{!!tags}!is[blank]then[hastags]] }}} >- Indicating an over all wikimode? > > To support this effort I have also built a library of more than 800 named > colours, so a spectrum of colours can be used eg "Bigger tiddlers darker > boarder" etc... > > Regards > TW Tones > -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TiddlyWiki" group. [tw5] Re: edit-comptext plugin and CodeMirror
Adithya, A fix I use for this is a stylesheet that can be toggled... .tc-editor-toolbar { height: 0; overflow: hidden; padding: 0; } A hack of a fix, because the toolbar is still in the dom. A toolbar keyboard shortcut is defined in the button's tiddler itself, so removing the toolbar, as what the current method does when toggling at ControlPanel, removes the functionality. So exciting and fun to use! Thanks so much Adithya! [tw5] Re: Simple Wikitext Syntax Highlighting
Adithya! This is wonderful, especially for people like me who want the tiniest degree of separation between View and Edit modes! Some things I hope you can add: \define macroMe(name:"teacup") > I'm a little $name$ > \end Can macro definitions have a certain color, and the macro name to be bold? For example, I wish this whole block to be <>, where $name$ is highlighted in another color, maybe <>, sample: \define *macroMe*(name:"teacup") > I'm a little $*name*$ > \end As an extension to this thought: can I target this whole text block in CSS? This is a desirable workflow for me: on mouse-hover, this whole block of text is very visible, to allow no room for mistakes while editing. Then with no mouse hover, it assumes the coloring as stated above, or maybe even just a lighter opacity (I can do this with CSS of course, if it's a class that can be *exposed *to me) //ddf// > __underline__ > ~~strikethrough~~ And some sup^^s^^ and sub,,s,, because I write like this sometimes I hope you can add the above in the future, especially the *//Italics//*, __ *underlines*__, and ~~strike-throughs~~! (no google groups formatting for strikethroughs, so I can't show the visualization)! > <> > <> Like * and , can <<* "">> have a color? And within it, can strings starting and ending with* "* also be styled? Sample: <> <> For strings inside back-ticks, `monospace me, and color <>?` > ``` > monospace me, too? > ``` I've set my CodeMirror font to *NonSerif*, can it be so that strings within back-ticks are monospaced, colored <>? As for the html links, they're colored already, but can that be extended so that maybe clicking on them while CTRL is held down, will result to the link opening in another browser tab? Also, I write external links this way a lot: http://adithyab.tiddlyspot.com/ > can it be treated differently from a normal tiddler * link ? Sample: http://adithyab.tiddlyspot.com/ I'm sorry if these are a hassle to include! I am requesting these from the perspective of someone going in and out of wikitext and defining macros, who need these visual identifiers in the textarea. Also from a perspective external to tiddlywiki... In my line of work, there is a lot of visual identifiers in "edit mode", before we pass on the work to people who will only ever access it in "view mode". This is to help us designers in our field to self-correct immediately, reducing the need for multiple checks, while the raw form of the work is still exposed to us (rarely do we even access the work in "view mode"). Your CodeMirror extension has the potential to really *mirror* my actual non-tiddlywiki work setup, and thus I'm really excited! I hope somehow these can be implemented in your future plugin. If not, I wish you can provide tutorials so I can personally extend the features (I have totally no idea how to JS) Thanks for this, really! [tw5] Re: [PLUGIN] Presenting "Grouped Buttons", a button-folder creation tool
Hi Mat! Thanks! Yes! Basically it's like a *filtered *"more" button, with a main button shown outside, where the main button can be easily interchanged with the others inside the dropdown. Sample: I have save buttons, one for the wiki, and one for timimi snapshot. I don't want both buttons in the PageControls because I almost always just save normally. But when I *do* want to save via timimi snapshot, I don't want to have to go to tools sidebar and scroll to find the button. Same for the add buttons. I mentally group New with New Journal and New Drawing buttons. But I don't want them all visible because there are only occasions when I use each. Still, I don't want them lumped together will the other PageControls in More button. So, sometimes, Journal Button is outside, and the normal New Tiddler button is inside the dropdown (the checkbox will indicate what is shown outside the dropdown) This is actually a feature on Nova Launcher for Android that I love. On my home screen, I have an icon for Phone. Tapping this will lead to the dialer. Swiping up will reveal a popup containing shortcuts to dial my fav contacts. Very interesting idea. It is worth noting that the edittemplate "preview > tool" has something similar. This is where I got the idea! The thing I need/want is when clicking the item on the dropdown, the action is instantly executed (i.e., clicking one of the options will *not* change the behavior of the Eye, but will instantly open the preview to it, while still letting the Eye be Output Preview, unless otherwise configured, hence the checkboxes in my design) Out of curiosity, did you make it like so: Basically it's a "more tool > button" but styled differently and with a list-after field? Not really with the list-after field. The checkboxes inside the dropdown will set a default/config tiddler for that group which will indicate what the shortcut is outside. If the default/config tiddler is not set, i.e. at button initialization, it shows the user-specified "default". Thanks ^^, -jd On Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 3:38:33 PM UTC+9, Mat wrote: > > Very interesting idea. [tw5] [PLUGIN] Presenting "Grouped Buttons", a button-folder creation tool
Hello everyone, JD here. My current projects have produced a want in me for something like this, and so I packaged it into a plugin for people who might have the same needs ^^, This is a button-group creation tool, simply put. The button on the left is the default, and the small one on its right will reveal buttons that the user had preset it to contain. Creation is as easy as 1 2 3 .. 4.. .5 ~ 8 steps -- alright, still a lot, but it's like a simple form, you'll see! Demo and plugin page here: http://j.d.groupedbuttons.tiddlyspot.com/ [image: 2020-08-14 19_34_11-grouped buttons — ☆彡 jd.png] Might also be useful to others ^^, -jd -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TiddlyWiki" group. [tw5] [ Streams ] : feedback and issues
Saq! I love your ideas and extensions to the way we can create tiddlers! Honestly, Streams is making it easier for me to write ^^, I have a request for mostly-mobile users like me, because I also want to continue using this on my phone. Will it be possible to implement a swipe mechanism on the nodes? (Sample is BTC's Swipe widget hammerwidgets.tiddlyspot.com) On my phone, I'd like to be able to swipe right on a node to indent it! And be able to swipe left to un-indent. Google Keep has this feature and I found it made listing so much easier! Hopefully Streams can also do it? Hi, You can change the text of this tiddler: *$:/config/EditTemplateFields/Visibility/tags * to "show" (instead of "hide")... Then when you're in edit mode, the Tags field is available for editting. Like the list field, tags with spaces should be enclosed in brackets, sample: TagOne Tag Two This is probably the quickest way if we don't need a UI for it ^^, -jd On Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 4:05:18 PM UTC+9, Zhe Lee wrote: > > My situation is like this: > > I want to record a installation issue about a linux software. Hi! I deleted my previous reply to correct some things: You can clone these tiddlers (they are tagged *$:/tags/EditToolbar* or *$:/tags/ViewToolbar*) and inject the hide-sidebar-action right before the closing ** tag *add show sidebar action*: $:/core/ui/Buttons/cancel $:/core/ui/Buttons/delete $:/core/ui/Buttons/save *add hide sidebar action*: $:/core/ui/Buttons/edit $:/core/ui/Buttons/clone $:/core/ui/Buttons/new-here $:/core/ui/Buttons/new-here $:/core/ui/Buttons/new-journal Then create these, with all of them having text: *hide *(so no core button gets overwritten): $:/config/ViewToolbarButtons/Visibility/$:/core/ui/Buttons/edit $:/config/ViewToolbarButtons/Visibility/$:/core/ui/Buttons/clone $:/config/ViewToolbarButtons/Visibility/$:/core/ui/Buttons/new-here $:/config/ViewToolbarButtons/Visibility/$:/core/ui/Buttons/new-here $:/config/ViewToolbarButtons/Visibility/$:/core/ui/Buttons/new-journal $:/config/EditToolbarButtons/$:/core/ui/Buttons/cancel $:/config/EditToolbarButtons/$:/core/ui/Buttons/delete $:/config/EditToolbarButtons/$:/core/ui/Buttons/save Then all of the above buttons you can package as you wish! In effect it's like you've replaced the core buttons with your own. I might go this direction with FS plugin but I'm not sure.. I don't want to interfere much with the Toolbar buttons hehe and I'm looking for a different experience (single-tiddler editting without using zoomin view and with sticky editor toolbar and general cleaner interface) - jd On Monday, August 3, 2020 at 12:45:58 AM UTC+9, amreus wrote: > > With recent discussions about editing full-screen, would it be a simple > solution to modify the "Edit this tiddler" button trigger the "Hide > sidebar" button, and then toggle back the sidebar on either save tiddler or > discard buttons? > > -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TiddlyWiki" group. [tw5] Re: Plugin prototype: Command Palette
Hi Souk! Sorry for bothering again but I want to share a sample scenario where It'll help if the input box writes to (for example) *$:/temp/command-palette-input* instead of a variable available only within CP (like how sidebar search manipulates *$:/temp/search*). When it's a tiddler that's being manipulated, we can do a *<$list>* conditional on whether the tiddler is empty or not. In my case I can use it to trigger a style on the input box that'll hide the hint when the input is long (right now the hint isn't acting like a placeholder that disappears, although this can be solved via CSS with a *:*focus selector) Another is, we can make a PageTemplate that'll only appear on another *<$list>* conditional. Sample: Typing a certain key within the custom action, I can emulate a CP-style submenu that'll allow me to configure some things in context of my original actionString... Of course, this is only for while there's no built-in feature like that yet hehe! But you've shared something already great, writing to a temp tiddler is something I can live without! There are just some thoughts! Thanks again ^^, -jd On Sunday, August 2, 2020 at 9:47:43 PM UTC+9, Souk21 wrote: > > New version 0.0.6 ! <https://github.com/Souk21/TW-commandpalette> > Changelog: > >- [BREAKING CHANGE] Renamed field 'cp-hint' to 'command-palette-hint' >for consistency >- New shortcut commands for customization. Hi Mat, thanks for the feedback! If you mean the tag dropdown, then yeah I can see that to the right is the correct idea! Must have been the remnant of a previous design. Oh! And yep! Just the fullscreen editor and the EditTemplate ^^, I've vanilla-ed the work site to make it clearer what's being presented for commenting! Thanks! The plugin is actually focused on FS, with the custom edit template you see being the by-product of the want to toggle template segments without editting nor styling those of the core, nor those of other plugins. Glad you like the buttons placement ^^, I find that in writing long texts I edit the title and tags fewer times than I use the toolbar.. I'm thinking of either turning this into *<<* and *>>* buttons with the changing value in between them, or first show the adjustment on a small preview and let the user apply or not. I'm leaning towards the first option hehe just because I'd like the operation to be instant. > >- I haven't looked at the code but I imagine you're switching and >restoring the edit template configured in $:/config/ui/EditTemplate, and > if >so this should work just as well if a custom edit template is specified. > > Yeah, I *might *make this independent of the current EditTemplate plugin I'm parallely developing it on... but I'm not too keen on it. I'm actually sort of hesitant to style core templates... chances are it'll interfere with other, more-important plugins, like how StoriesPlugin needs compatibility styling with my themes. Anyway, I still *might*. hehe. I guess the last barrier will be how I don't much like the looks of the core EditTemplate and so would like to limit the time I use it or test for it Offtopic: If you have the time to spare I think we could benefit from your > input here as well: > https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyWiki5/issues/4765 <https://github.com/Jermolene/TiddlyWiki5/issues/4765> I noticed a strangeness in the method I tried! [tw5] Re: [ pre-release ] New goodies in the TiddlyWiki core
That is seriously cool!! I'm so excited for this!!! I found that you can actually feed an action string into it.. Sample in the tiddler *$:/core/ui/SideBarSegments/search* change a macro definition: *from *navigation \define input-accept-actions() <$action-navigate $to={}/> *to* performing the action strings stored inside the field: *actions *of the search result \define input-accept-actions() <$transclude tiddler={} field="*actions*"/> I tested this and found it works well! Hello everyone, I was backtracking and saw some posts about my old Fullscreen editor plugin... Thank you for the appreciation! ...Found out some people were having trouble with it (I, myself, consider it inelegant), so I am in the process of developing a new one that uses TW5.1.22's features.. On long macros with loops, those kind of things (forgetting where I've declared variables and such) happen a lot! I've learned to keep a close eye on them... Oh wow, I'd like to mess around with that wiki containing those cool mix of plugins, maybe help with an edition containing those as recently they've become popular.. But I understand it's your data and privacy! I'm thinking actually of multiple sidebars now... another button with another sidebar to toggle... where the second one can be configured to not affect the story river width (of course this can be an option that can be integrated into Mono.theme) With that kind of solution (multiple sidebars), however, one can be lists (narrower, can affect story river width/position), and the other can contain wider stuff (won't affect story river)... where their toggles are both always present ... Thanks for the heads-up! I tested and found that the ENTER key indeed is captured by the pre-release keyboard handling, but ctrl+ENTER works! I'll update the plugin. [tw5] Re: [New Here] A hello and the set of questions!
Hello! I Actually have nothing to say but that we are using almost the exact same saving methods across devices! I find this a bit of a hassle when in situations where my work environment changes multiple times in a day (commute an hour: edit on mobile, have some coffee: edit on laptop, had an idea at work: edit on mobile again because of laptop restrictions at work... when management tightens on mobile use even while on breaks, I resort to tiddlyspot). So, if you encounter a saving method across devices that are better than what we have now, please do share! It'll save my life. And, welcome to TW ! -jd On Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at 8:06:22 PM UTC+9, Dummy ME wrote: > > Hey guys, > > I am new here and the world of tiddlys. Thank you, Saq! Wow, that sounds really cool! I don't really use task managers (not just because of their complexity, but...) because of the many UI bits that make me want to find a way to *use *said bits, or *hide *them... Using a text field that'll serve like a command line, but will allow for some fancy interfacing, will be wonderful. It's like writing "Buy oranges tomorrow but only if you have 4 left" and not needing to expand on that, letting the program interpret that on its own (of course, I want to *customize* said program)... Hope you can share yours soon! -jd On Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at 9:13:25 PM UTC+9, Saq Imtiaz wrote: > > @JD very neat. > > I do something similar in an unfinished task manager plugin I use, > including trying to parse shorthand for dates into a date field. > > Example: > Cleanup task manager #plugin and share #todo tom > where "tom" gets parsed as tomorrow's date. [tw5] Re: [PLUGIN] hello, presenting NTFS22 (New Tiddler From Search for TW5.1.22), with ability to specify title and tags
Hi Tony! Thank you so much! And yeah, v5.1.22 is magical! I am loving all the native things I can do with it now! Also, thanks to your idea, I have updated NTFS22 and streamlined the code a bit. Previously, the NTFS22 sidebar search is a *clone *of the core sidebar search, wrapped in <$keyboard> widgets that will execute a macro on the search string. That was because I wanted to inject the "+" button inside, for positioning purposes. Now I just did away with the "+" button so I can fully transclude the core sidebar search and wrap it in <$keyboard> widgets, which act like how you describe your Search Indicators. By the way, NTFS22 doesn't alter $:/AdvancedSearch ... It just injects itself into the sidebar as a <$keyboard>-wrapped core sidebar search :) -jd On Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at 12:30:59 PM UTC+9, TW Tones wrote: > > JD, > > Glad to have you around again. [tw5] Re: Plugin prototype: Command Palette
Hi Souk21, I am in love with this! This is truly amazing and exactly what I need in my personal wiki! I have a question (searching for the answer of which put me into creation mode), how do I access the text of the CommandPalette input box and have it available to an actionString - type custom command? I wish to integrate my NTFS22 macros into this elegantly (it works by parsing the content of a tiddler, i.e. the tiddler modified by the searchbar). I tried looking at recently-modified tiddlers to see which one CommandPalette modifies, but there's none! So, for now I am using a custom command that calls up an identical-looking input box into the screen. I feel like this is a hack because it's not actually using Command Palette's input box like how I wish it will be able to! Am I just missing something? hehe. Also another idea: how about, inside a custom command tiddler, let there be three additional fields? - *command-palette-popup-key* can contain a key which, when inputted, will reveal the submenu, in context of the current custom command - *command-palette-popup* contains the title of the tiddler for the body of the submenu - *command-palette-hint* contains the text of the hint informing the user of what the command does (for example) *Sample use:* 1. I have a custom actionString command. This will run a macro on the text string of the input box on "ENTER" 2. For preferences on how the text string will be parsed, I wish to access a *preferences* page... So maybe by inputting "|" the submenu will open and allow me to configure things Anyway, because I don't know how to create those things natively into the current version of Command Palette, I forked a version of my NTFS22 plugin and it does the above things. Please take a look here <http://j.d.ntfs22.tiddlyspot.com/#Integration%20with%20Souk21%27s%20commandpalette%20%2F%20NTFS22%20anywhere> to see what I'm trying to accomplish. My plan is to retire this plugin once I can do the same things with Command Palette! Thanks again for this, and I'm looking forward to creating more permissive custom commands! - jd On Thursday, June 11, 2020 at 2:31:24 AM UTC+9, Souk21 wrote: > > Hello everyone! > > > I discovered TiddlyWiki a couple weeks ago, and I set myself to use it for > note taking. > I really enjoy the trip so far, it really is a interesting piece of > software. > The only thing missing for me is a proper way to search with the keyboard > only. > > There’s a shortcut to focus the search field, but unfortunately, you can’t > navigate the results with the arrows, and you can’t close the dropdown with > escape. > > > I looked around for a plugin, but I wasn’t able to find any that worked > for me. > So, in a tiddlywiki mindset, I decided to try and make my own. > I took a lot of inspiration from VSCode command palette. > By default you open it with Ctrl+P, but you can change the shortcut from > the tw settings > You can search tiddlers by text or with a filter expression, search tags, > list all tiddlers with a tag,... > If you type ‘>’ you enter the ‘command’ mode and you can select (or > search) from a list of commands. > You can access help if you type '?' > > > I tried to make it the more customizable I could, there’s still work but > it’s already quite customizable. Hi Diego! Thank you so much for directing me to this! This is absolutely amazing! But after playing with it for a while (and deciding to have it on mainstay), I gave up trying to build a command that will create for me the sort of tiddlers I create (customized journals with a location field and with text included) Anyway, while CommandPalette doesn't have this yet, I created a fork of NTFS22 that integrates into CommandPalette as a command (also as an always-available tiddler creation tool) NTFS22 on CommandPalette <http://j.d.ntfs22.tiddlyspot.com/#Integration%20with%20Souk21's%20commandpalette%20%2F%20NTFS22%20anywhere> Thanks! - jd On Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at 2:42:25 AM UTC+9, Diego Mesa wrote: > > JD! [tw5] Re: How to change the colors of only one editor toolbar button
That's neat, and disregarding the hover effect, even has fewer lines! Again I don't know on desktop how this looks but you can also add a width to the svg to make it narrower. This looks ok on my phone: --- .tc-editor-toolbar button .tc-image-button { padding: 4px 0px; font-size: 1.45em; width: 30px; } -- I just added the 30px width. -jd -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TiddlyWiki" group. [tw5] How to change the colors of only one editor toolbar button
Hi Ton, Sorry for the formatting, I'm on my phone! I got it by doing something like this... --- .tc-editor-toolbar > .tc-reveal > button { display: inline-flex; padding: 0; } .tc-editor-toolbar button .tc-image-button { padding: 2px; font-size: 1.25em; } .tc-editor-toolbar button .tc-image-list-bullet { display: flex; align-items: stretch; justify-content: stretch; fill: red; background-color: yellow; } --- More experienced people might have a better solution, but what I basically did was to set the button to flex so that the svg it contains can fill it up, and then the svg itself can now be targeted to have a background. The background will now fill the button thanks to inline-flex. I set a font size to tc-image-button because inline-flex affected the size of the button, and i used inline-flex instead of flex so the buttons will arrange themselves inline without needing for the whole container to be set to flex too. I wonder if this will work nicely in all cases hehe -jd -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TiddlyWiki" group. Re: [tw5] Re: Paragraph tags in layout
Oww, It's very interesting how this query reveals TW5's history. I can intuit sometimes where a will be generated, but if within and/or around a <$list> it seems pretty unpredictable. Still workable though and not really that bothersome. In fact it helps sometimes when I'm too lazy to add top and bottom paddings to divs. -jd On Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 10:20:10 PM UTC+9, PMario wrote: > > Hi, > > The problem with the existing mechanism is, that "whitespace matters" for > a good reason, as Jeremy explained. [tw5] Re: Paragraph tags in layout
Hi BTC, Ahaha! I used to add \whitespace trim everywhere because I once assumed it will limit generation on that tiddler... But I was wrong and now I have little idea on what it actually does :( Inspecting the dom through Google Chrome, I see that tc-page-controls is styled to have margin-top:14px, which isn't necessary because it is inside a ... In this case I wonder if tc-page-controls was originally *not* intended be wrapped inside .. and so I wonder if there are other page templates that have this curious thing... Turns out that yes, tc-drafts-list also is within a paragraph tag, although it isn't noticeable because it is position:fixed anyway... I'm probably just rambling now hehe -jd On Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 8:37:21 PM UTC+9, BurningTreeC wrote: > > >> Hi Arlen, JD >> >> those paragraphs apparently are generated by the wiki parser when it >> encounters new-lines / whitespace >> >> that's useful when writing text within a tiddler to get actual new lines >> in the rendered result when: >> >> ``` >> text >> >> more text >> ``` >> >> but for ui parts it's not always desirable. at some points the core ui >> actually uses it without explicitely adding span or div or p elements >> >> just consider that if it's a vnd.tiddlywiki tiddler and there's no >> \whitespace trim pragma on top, such new lines will generate paragraphs >> >> you can however put a \whitespace trim on top of the tiddler (and >> separately within macro definitions inside that tiddler) .. [tw5] Re: Lost data for the first time in maybe a decade
Hi, I love that we are now on different realities because of this problem, which has also happened to me... But maybe your problem might really have been alien in nature? I also use the download saver method, overwriting the same file and then once in a while saving to a backup location. All of this on Google Drive, too, like you. And you know what, sometimes Google Drive does this thing where it looks like it has saved the file... until you look closely at the bottom bar of the browser where it says "Failed - Insufficient permissions". Trouble with this is you have to delete the file, wait for the deletion to sync and then re-save. Mendokusai! Most worrying is, it looks exactly as if the file actually saved. [image: Untitled.png] Maybe this is what happened? Well anyway, my condolences to your lost data. -jd On Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 12:24:37 PM UTC+9, passingby wrote: > > Thank you for your input. > The TW was a fresh one which I downloaded today in the morning. Hi admls, Wow! This is so cool! The tiddlers stay within the browser when resizing the window, and it looks so easy to style! This will change my desktop tw-ing habits. [tw5] Re: Suggestions for stand-alone, mobile TW files?
Oh wow, thanks Mohammad! Although Ml is really just an interface to manipulate and present the fields of tiddlers (through the perspective of an expense tracker) Ah, to access the Tiddlywiki control panel you'd have to go to Tiddlywiki mode itself, ( Manage > Looks & TW, click the motovun jack icon... on a side note, I am in love with the word Motovun, sounds so rpg, doesn't it?) The thought is, for this particular plugin, to just save this html file in your android phone and run it on the Android apps. To do Tiddlywiki things you have to go to Tiddlywiki mode. Perhaps I should add an option for people who might not work this way. I really have no idea how other people work with Tiddlywiki hehehe -jd On Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at 1:10:20 PM UTC+9, Mohammad wrote: > > JD, > This is absolutely great! > One cannot believe it possible to produce such app using Tiddlywiki! > > One question > where is the control panel? > > --Mohammad > > On Monday, March 11, 2019 at 8:58:53 PM UTC+3:30, JD wrote: >> >> Hi Mark, >> >> I have an expense tracker, still in alpha, that can be demoed here: >> http://j.d.ml.tiddlyspot.com/ >> >> I still need to tweak the *Reports *> *Categories *tab and clean up the >> code + documentation, but I've been testing it with Quine and BTC's android >> app and have found it to be very usable. [tw5] [theme] Presenting "Mono" theme
Hello everyone, JD here, offering a kind of stark theme that incorporates my most personal needs for a writing interface: [x] Sidebar to the <- left [x] Built-in mobile layout [x] Centered story river (when sidebar is closed) [x] Sidebar segments visibility toggler at Control Panel [x] TopLeftBar buttons visibility toggler at Control Panel [x] EmptyStoryMessage template [x] Splashcreen template [x] TiddlerFrame style [x] AdvancedSearch tabs on TopRightBar searchbar [x] TopRightBar searchbar you can create a tiddler from like NTFS or NTFS19 [x] Font scroller button [x] Day/night palete switcher button *Here is the main conceit of the mobile UI:* The main change has been to TopBarLeft and TopBarRight. They are still separated, but are now contained in a wrapper, like this: (items tagged $:/tags/TopLeftBar) (items tagged $:/tags/TopRightBar) On desktop, the wrapper, tc-topbar, is by default arranged in a row... but on mobile it has this: flex-wrap: wrap;... so if tc-topbar-left has width: 100%;, tc-topbar-right will automatically be stacked below it. By combining the left and right topbars, the special class tc-adjust-top-of-scroll is now incorporated to both the TopBarLeft and TopBarRight templates. This is especially useful for mobile UI. I might extract just this bit into the next iteration of my MobilePlugin, albeit it will only be for TW5.1.19 and above. Hi Mal, Thanks for the acknowledgement! Your additions and simplifications are stuff I would like to use myself (especially the commit message). I also love plugins that have so few tiddlers in them! Speaking of that commit message, I'm always bothered by input elements referencing missing tiddlers. They show the placeholder: "type the text for the tiddler 'Missing tiddler'" Could you add something like this to the input element? <$input default="" placeholder="Add note"> or "..." or "Enter commit message" or something? [tw5] Help: <$view> widget template for currency?
Hello everyone, I was wondering if there's a way for the <$view> widget to display currency? I understand that I can do this for dates: <$view tiddler="New Tiddler" format="date" template="Template Tiddler"/> Theoretically, I should be able to do this, too: <$view tiddler="New Tiddler" format="currency" template="Template Tiddler"/> where, for example, *New Tiddler* contains this: 15550 and *Template Tiddler* contains this: **,**.** So the above fictional <$view> widget invocation will display this: 15,550.00 or if *Template Tiddler* contains this: UNIT **,**.** will display this: UNIT 15,550.00 Has anyone with the same need come up with a solution? I might have to learn JS for this if not... Or maybe I can request this as a feature either to TW itself or the ever-useful Formulas <https://evanbalster.com/tiddlywiki/formulas.html#Functions>plugin :) Thank you all! -jd -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "TiddlyWiki" group.
