TYVM, the links I was trying to use for .37 were failing (Firefox was
blocking the install) but that link work-- now I can continue using
NoScript : ) I tried .39RC3 and it hadn't addressed the issue yet.

@Birthe

Yeah, NoScript can be buggy, I was lucky and didn't have to deal with the
worst of its issues. Since websites use so much scripting and cross domain
content, it can play Hell with websites but it works for me : )

As for work, I had to make a huge diagram for the latest wiki-- to
illustrate the button controlled transclusions and animations between the
story river story shell tiddler and customized side bar navigation
tiddler-- no closing old tiddlers / opening new ones-- all content change
is done inside the shell tiddlers by transclusion.

Noscript is aware of the bug, but the latest Noscript RC (.39) does not fix
the issue with local Tiddlywikis.

You can roll back to 11.0.37 by disabling automatic updates and getting the
old release from the Noscript site:
https://secure.informaction.com/download/releases/noscript-11.0.37.xpi

Hopefully this issue will be resolved in the future.

Go to tiddlywiki.com, scroll to the GettingStarted tiddler, click the

click the edit button on the GettingStarted tiddler or make a new tiddler.

However, I can create and edit tiddlers on tiddlywiki.com. If I

I am using Chrome as a workaround for now but this is not ideal as it

2020-08-20 Thread A Gloom
THE LATEST NOSCRIPT UPDATE (11.0.38) FOR FIREFOX PREVENTS ANY EDITING
ABILITY OF LOCAL DRIVE SINGLE FILE TW

It is an issue with NoScript 11.0.38 (an firefox security (javascript
blocking) extension). When I disable the extension or remove it, the edit
mode issue resolves. NoScript auto updated the day the problems started.
I cannot find a previous version (11.0.37 & below) or roll back the update
to do further troubleshooting.

I have tried reinstalling NoScript, every settings, starting/restarting, etc

The troubleshooting workflow:
1. download empty.html from tiddlywiki com (browser save window opens, save
to local drive as I have done everytime before)
2. open empty.html in Firefox
3. close GettingStarted tiddler
4. click new tiddler button in icon bar below searchbar
the result is seen in the screenshot shown previously

does it for all local single file TW's (vers 5.1.22 5.1.21 5.1.19)
doesn't do it with new tiddlers opened online at tiddlywiki com
will upload one of the malfunctioning wikis to online to demo that they
will allow editing online but not locally

[tw5] Re: unable to use edit mode text field TWSingleFile, local copy

2020-08-17 Thread A Gloom
Haven't tested on Opera or IE yet-- the only other browsers I have-- but
will.

Does it in FF private mode.

Starting FF in safe mode corrected it and traced it to when NoScript is
running.

Not hitting any wrong key combos, all mouse clicks during troubleshooting
so unless I have a stuck key, keystrokes shouldn't be an issue.

More detail on what happens-- when there is a startup tiddler set in
Control Panel, it displays with sidebar-- if no startup tiddler is set then
it shows empty story river with sidebar.

screenshot of downloaded empty.html from tiddlywiki com-- the only thing
done to it is clicking new tiddler button

Maybe test another browser. And incognito modes.

Sorry, I missed this bit:

Happens with all pre-created wiki's as well as a freshly downloaded blank
> wiki, so its not something that was done to the wiki by user, plugin's etc.

So I have no idea. Strange indeed.

Obviously one would need more info but that bit about it showing a second
instance of the entire wiki makes me wonder if you have the InnerWiki
plugin installed?

Anyway, you should probably test things by uninstalling plugins and
removing overwritten shadows.
