Naomi,

I pray for more recovery for you also. I also pray that you would be blessed
with insurance that takes care of all of your needs.

depressing because I thought, by the two-year period, I would have gained more
movement and made more progress. To be perfectly honest, I'm worse off than I
am when I left the hospital. I am still struggling with my insurance company
to provide more therapy. I know it is stated that you're pretty much where
you're going to be at the two-year mark. I certainly hope this isn't true.
That would remove all hope. I've read of people progressing beyond this point.
 I pray for more recovery.

[TMIC] TM meeting in Atlanta area this week

2007-07-03 Thread Jenna Stentz
Hi,

I just wanted to let everyone on the list that lives in the Atlanta area know
that there is now a meeting on the 1st Thursday of the month at 6:00pm. The
meeting is open to all who have TM. If you are interested in the location
contact me off the list and I will let you know. I know I havn't seen some of
the Atlanta people on the list in a while...but maybe some of you are reading
and not just posting.

I hope you have a blessed and wonderful day! Jenna

Naomi,
I wish for you better health soon. I will pray for you. You care for others
so well and you deserve to have the blessings and improved health come back to
you as well. I've been down for 3 days. I hated it cause it was the weekend.
I wanted to enjoy it so bad w/ my husband I was in so much pain I couldn't
even find my pills. He had to get them for me. I was trying all I could to
not go back into the hospital. Enough on me. As I said, you will be in my
prayers. Natalie M.

Naomi,

Please know that you still can get better. It might be little at a time and
very slowly, but you can still get better.
I was at my worst at my 2 year, (I had fatigue, so didn't get any
improvements), but as the fatigue got better so did I and still am getting
better each month. When and how much exercise you can do per week. Exercise,
Excessive, and more Excessive.
You might not notice your improvements, but a person that has not seen you in
awhile will notice your improvements. I have a friend that live about 8 hours
away, so we don't get to together very often. I have notice that he has lost a
lot of weight and he notice that I have gotten some improvements in getting
around.

  Hang in there,
we are praying for you to get better,
  Todd in Corpus Christi, TX

Re: [TMIC] Feet pain

2007-07-03 Thread Heather Pieter
I sure needed a ball today. Hmm, maybe that would be an idea. I did use
furniture though. Yikes.

I had an accident today though and was lucky I didn't knock myself right out.
I was vacuuming.I had a plant in the living room that I think will do
better in the basement where it is much cooler for the summer. Well, I picked
up the plant, went to step over the hose of the vacuum system and instead with
my stupid weak leg I stepped onto the hose. The pot went flying and I fell
onto my butt and whacked the back of my head into the corner of one of the end
tables. I had a terrible time to get up which I do all the time anyway but my
head hurt like the devil and I immediately went and got the freezer pack. I
sat for 15 mins with it on the back of my head. I took an Ibuprofen too. I
now have a lovely big goose egg on the back of my head. OUCH! Like I
said, I'm sure glad I didn't draw blood or knock myself out. So then it was
good I had the vacuum out as I could then clean up the dirt and the dead leaves
of the plant. I was actually ready to toss the think outside I was somewhat
upset about it all. I don't feel any pain in the tailbone so am hoping that I
didn't do too much damage there. I guess I have padding there. LOL LOL

Heather in Calgary where it is FINALLY warm enough to consider it summer.

  Hi Pam,

Did you send your ball system for getting up to the list or just me? I
wondered since I only got it once. In case you didn't, I'm attaching it to the
bottom of this for the list to see.

Also, don't worry about being embarrassed about falling when going out.
First of all, hopefully you won't hurt yourself. Then, if you do fall, which I
have, you just get the help you need.

And, I fell the first day I went back to work after having had TM for seven
months. I went to work on a part-time basis, and parked in the parking lot at
work. I proceeded to fall, smack down on the pavement, right on my bottom just
past my car or I could have gotten up on my own. Several people came over and
tried to help to pick me up, but they were trying to do it the wrong way. I
could only be helped in one certain way that worked, and my son also worked in
the same building, so I asked someone to go inside and get him. I sat on the
pavement with people coming and going for about 5 minutes waiting for him. I
caused quite a stir.

I was determined to go back to work, so I went home, composed myself for a
couple of hours and went back in to work. Stuff happens!!!

  Hugs, Barbara

HI BARBARA., IF I FALL THANK GOODNESS I KEEP MY CELL PHONE WITH ME AT ALL
TIMES. I CAN CALL A NEIGHBOR.
I DO NOT LIKE TO DO THAT SO I EXERCISE ON THE HUGE BIG BLUE BALL. ALOT. I
HAVE ONE IN MY DEN , KITCHEN, MY BATH ROOM ANY ROOM I AM GOING TO BE IN ALOT.
I ALSO HAVE MY GRIPPERS IN EVERY ROOM IN MY HOME. WE HAVE 4 ROOMS WE HARDLY
EVER USE. THEY DO NEED TO BE CLEANED THOUGH.
I FELL A FEW MONTHS AGO AND IT WAS IN THE DEN. I WAS NOT CLOSE TO ANY
FURNITURE BUT I HAD MY GRIPPER SO I CRAWLED A LITTLE BIT USED THE GRIPPER TO
GET THE BALL GOT UP WITH NO PROBLEM.MY KNEES DO HURT ALOT WHEN I CRAWL ALSO.
WE KEEP ONE BY THE POOL AND IN OUR ENCLOSED PATIO.
I WAS ASKED ONE DAY WHY NOT JUST PUSH THE BALL TO ANY ROOM YOU GO IN. I DID
TRY THAT BUT ITS EASIER FOR ME TO HAVE BOUGHT 4 MORE.
IT SOUNDS EXTREME BUT IT WORKS AND I DO NOT HAVE TO CALL A NEIGHBOR.
I AM VERY CAREFUL BUT WE NEVER KNOW IF OUR LEGS WILL TIRE OR WE JUST LOOSE
OUR BALANCE. I DO WHAT WORKS FOR ME AND THIS DID.SO I HAVE 5 BALLS AND I CAN
USE THEM TO EXERCISE ON IN THOSE ROOMS NOT JUST MY SMALL EXERCISE ROOM.
ONE BALL MIGHT WORK FOR SOME OF YOU BUT I GUESS I DO NOT LIKE TO PUSH IT
AROUND.
WHEN MY GRANDKIDS ARE HERE THEY PLAY WITH THEM
.I HAVE 4 GRANDKIDS SO NO ARGUING THEY EACH HAVE ONE TO PLAY WITH.
SO I GET MORE THAN ONE USE WITH THEM.
IF I GO OUT I JUST HOPE I DO NOT FALL I DO NOT THINK I COULD GET UP, PLUS I
WOULD BE SO EMBARASSED.MY PT TAUGHT ME TO USE IT IF I FELL. NOT TO BUY SO MANY
THOUGH.
IT WORKED FOR ME AND YOU CAN USE IT FOR THERAPY.
HOPE THIS MIGHT HELP YOU ALL WHO COULD FALL AT HOME ALONE .I FEEL SILLY
TELLING THIS BUT IT WORKS.WE ALL SHOULD DO WHAT WORKS FOR US. I
DO!
HOPE NONE OF US FALL SO BE
CAREFUL!!
  PAM

2007-07-03 Thread Grace M.

Hi Naomi,

It's a little over two years since my first attack also. Please don't
give up hoping for more improvement. A little over two years ago, I
never dreamed that I would be walking unassisted again (I do still
use my cane.) or being hopeful about life. Yes, I'll have more
attacks, Devics is like that, but hopefully thanks to Rituxin they'll
be more manageable than in the past. I know it's tough to remain
hopeful. During my last eye bout I thought I might lose my mind, but
somehow I found the will to keep plugging---and I'm still hopeful that
I'll regain more of my sight. Naomi, please know that you are in the
thoughts and prayers of many, and don't give up.

Your friend,
Grace (And I understand where you're coming from re; insurance
companies. What a pain.)

Re: [TMIC] Re: [QUAD-L] 9 YEARS

2007-07-03 Thread Kevin Wolfthal

Regina,
I had a neck MRI and a thoracic spine MRI last year. The neck MRI showed
a lot of arthritis in the neck. The neurologist at that time said the
asrthritia has
nothing to do with my hands. Why couldn't it? My doctor yesterday is
my PCP,
and he has been treating me for high BP. He did not have an opinion yet
about
my hands. He took blood to test for anything systemic that might be
going on,
such as thyroid. Won't have results until next week. I'm seeing a new
neurologist

in a few weeks who comes highly recommended.

I do believe my hand numbness might be coming from my neck. I also have
neck and shoulder pain.

Have a good holiday,

Kevin

Naomi,

Over the first 4-5 years of onset (1988), I improved very slowly.
I went from crutches

to cane, to walking without aid, except ankle braces.. However,
there was always pain, always balance
problems, gait difficulty, numbness. I was doing fairly well
until 1997, when my car
was rear-ended. It wasn't a major collision, but as my
neurologist said at the time,
it shook things up. Sure did, things went steadily downhill
after the accident,
until I was using a cane again and had to stop working in 1999.

I never had steroid therapy because it took me years to get a dx.
Now I am using a rollator,

actually used it to get to the doctor today, with the assistance
of a nurse's aid. It wore
me out, but I did it. Now I'm trying to find out why my hands are
going numb.

I don't think anything is set in stone with TM. We are all
affected differently. I still
try to stay hopeful, I hope you can too.

Best wishes,
Kevin
