Re: [TMIC] HELP WITH UNSUBSCRIBING..and WELCOME NEWBIES A QUESTION
Title: AOL Email Hi Lynn, my dear friend... When I first switched to Lyrica it took me about three times before I was able to make it through the whole regime of titering off of the Neurontin while getting onto the Lyrica. The pain was bad, real bad at times and all I could do was to take enough pain pills to knock myself out and slept for a week or so. Now, after almost a month, I am glad that I stuck with it because I feel ever so much better. Most of the banding sensation that caused the majority of my pain is gone, or so much more relaxed, that I barely notice it. The burning pain is gone unless I push myself during rehab. Then it comes back with a vengeance, but only for a minute or so. Now, I am happy to be on Lyrica and know that you will be too, if you can only find a way to get through the adjustment period of only a few days. (Although at the time, it feels like it is going to last forever!) Good Luck, keep on trying and know that I am with you in heart... Peace and Prayers, Jude

Once again he is able to wheel his wheelchair down his boat ramp and go fishing. Make sure Terry keeps his shoulder immobilized just like his doc says...that's the really important part. Bring warm clothes when you visit the Sierraswe have been getting snow on the mountain tops! I have a question about pain meds while I'm here. have any of you regretted switching from Neurontin to Lyrica...? Does the Lyrica help you with the burning pain...? Every time I try to decrease my Neurontin the burning pain gets so bad I have to keep on taking it. Thanks. Love to all, Lynn

Re: [TMIC] hELP WITH UNSUBSCRIBING
I PERSONALLY THINK A LOT OF THE 'NEWBIES TO THE LIST ARE DESPERATELY SEARCHING FOR ANSWERS IN A FORMAT OR PRESENTATION THEY CAN EASILY ABSORB WITHOUT INTERACTION ON A PERSONAL BASIS, AND WHEN THEY SEE E-MAIL FROM THE LIST THAT IS NOT CONDUCIVE TO AN IMMEDIATE INFORMATION SOURCE REGARDING THEIR REASONS FOR JOINING IN THE FIRST PLACE, THEY GET FRUSTRATED [WHICH, AS YOU ALL WELL KNOW, IS EASILY DONE IF YOU HAVE TM, DEVICS OR OTHER RELATED PROBLEMS] AND GIVE UP AND UNSUBSCRIBE. LIKE I SAID BEFORE, WE ARE LIKE A FAMILY SITTING DOWN FOR DINNER CONVERSING ABOUT WHATEVER ENTERS OUR MIND, AND NOT NECESSARILY WHAT EFFECTS THE 'FAMILY' AS A WHOLE. NEWBIES ARE AFRAID TO INITIATE SUBJECTS FOR CONVERSATION, BUT ARE JUST AT THE TABLE TO LISTEN FIRST AND SEE WHAT IS BEING SERVED UP. IF THEY DO NOT LIKE THE MENU, THEY LEAVE BEFORE DESERT IS SERVED, OR BETTER YET, THEY WAIT IN THE FOYER AND LISTEN TO WHAT IS GOING ON [EVES DROPPING] , AND IF THE MENU DOES NOT SOUND INTERESTING, THEY LEAVE WITHOUT SEEING WHAT IS FOR DESERT. SAID SIMPLY, WE POST LOTS OF E-MAIL THAT IS NOT ALL TOGETHER THAT INFORMATIVE OR INTERESTING TO NEWBIES AND THEY PACK UP AND LEAVE, MANY DO SO WITHOUT US EVEN KNOWING THEY WERE SUBSCRIBED. IT WOULD BE GREAT IF WE WERE INFORMED WHEN A NEWBIE JOINS, AND THEN THEY CAN BE SENT A FORM OR 'PAT' E-MAIL INFORMING THEM THEY ARE WELCOME AND TO BENEFIT FROM THE TMIC, THEY SHOULD INTRODUCE THEMSELVES AND POST THEIR INQUIRIES FOR RESPONSES, OTHERWISE, THEY WILL BE COMING IN ON A CONVERSATION OF E-MAILS THAT MAY WELL NOT MAKE SENSE TO THEM, THEY GET BORED TO A FEELING OF THE LIST NOT BEING WHAT THEY MIGHT HAVE THOUGHT IT WAS, AND LEAVE, WITHOUT SO MUCH AS A HOWDY-DO. IF LUBIN CAN'T HAVE THE SYSTEM MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT OF A NEWBIE JOINING FOR US TO WELCOME THEM TO THE DINNER TABLE AND TO JOIN IN, THEN MAYBE A SHORT SENTENCE AT THE BOTTOM OF OUR E-MAIL COULD WELCOME NEWBIES AND ASK THEM TO JOIN IN THE CONVERSATION OR POSE THEIR INQUIRIES AT ANY TIME, KINDA LIKE A SIGN AT THE DOORWAY SAYING, 'COMMON IN, THE WATER'S FINE' AND JOIN IN' , OR SOME SUCH. Re: [TMIC] HELP WITH UNSUBSCRIBING
Hi Bob and All ~ Excellent letter Bobgreat ideas..! Thought I should pop in here and let everyone know that I have been handling the "unsubscribers" for many months now. I write to them off list as soon as I see their email. There are many reasons why they have unsubscribed...some of these people are still writing to me off list the main reasons are 1) Too many emails for me to handle right now 2) I'm only unsubscribing for a while (many reasons on this...vacations, etc)...3) I can't subscribe from my work computer any more..fortunately I have rarely had anyone unsubscribe because of any of our unsavory dinner table conversations. :-) Many of these people have subscribed again and are "up in the rafters" just "listening." I can totally understand why people just simply send an email to the list wanting to unsubscribe. It's so much easier than figuring out where the home page is that they subscribed from in the first place.. and they just KNOW that someone on the list will help them out. They are right! :-) That's what we are here for! :-) So. if you see someone wanting to unsubscribe just delete the message and know I will take care of them. If the day ever comes that I can't ...I will email the list and let someone else take over the job. Love to all, Lynn

Re: [TMIC] help with questions
I know that with my diagnosis of TM the mri showed a clear lesion in the t4-5 area of the spinal cord. My first mri was in 1993. Since then I have had 5 flare ups and now have a diagnosis of recurrent TM. Each mri shows that same lesion and inflammation in the spinal cord. Although there are people given a diagnosis of TM when nothing shows up on the mri. This is just my experience with mri's and I have now had more than I can count. February 1999 I woke up one Monday morning with a strange feeling from my waistdown. Over the next three weeks i steadily got worse and had to use a cane for walking. At the time I had Brain MRI's with and without contrast, evoked potentials and spinal tap. The only test that showed any problems was the spinal tap. The Nuro's exact words were The abnormalities seen in your spinal fluid are consistant with those I see in MS patients, so lets wait and see. He also said he was beginning to wonder if it was all in my head. In the mean time lets call it Transverse Myletitis. For the next 7 years the only problem I had was weekness in left leg and numbness in feet. During this episode I took no medicine of any Kind. I did not go back to that Nuro. December 2 of 2005 my left side went numb(still is) and my left leg got worse. I saw my primary care physician. He put me on Lyrica and recommended I see a Nuro. My old one was no longer seeing patients, it would be 4 months before I could get an appointment with a new one. Three weeks later I had fallen 3 times. This time primary ordered brain MRI. This one showed white matter suspious of MS. March I get to see a Nurologist. He orders two more MRI's. These of Thorasic and neck level. I take another fall. I see the Nurologist. He says new MRI's look could and he's leaning toward leaving the Diagnosis as Transverse Myletitis. I said I thought TM was single occurance. He said he thought it was just a flair up. I asked why new areas involved? He said we could call it clinical MS but lets do another brain MRI with and without contrast and see if any change since January. So, Exactly what , in most of your cases, have show up on your MRI's to constitute the diagnosis of TM. I know what lesions are so is that what is expected. If so, and I have not had any why TM. Should I force the MS diagnosis ? Should I just wait and see again? So many questions, so few answers..

Frank ~ Bob Patti gave you the right advice on hand held shower heads. I'm with you...I can't stand under a shower either with this hypersensitive skin! One thing I would suggest is a padded bath bench.
