Thank you, Apesbrain.
You’ve helped me many times in the past. Thanks

Actually, as you may have read in the thread, I have another Touch that
I was using elsewhere. It actually was not used much.
So, I moved that Touch to the main stereo that has the DAC.
This kit will be used with a small Bose disc player ( on AUX). It will
connect to the Bose via RCA. (no DAC).
Also, I can wait till February or March or whenever your recommendation
is available.

Thank you.

Yes. After April 15th, MOG will no longer be available in the US.
Monthly billing will stop on March 15th and yearly subscriptions will be

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Is a new Touch or Boom in the future?

2013-07-24 Thread Ikabob

Yes, you are probably correct. However, is there any evidence to say
that Logitech has no long term strategy? I can understand the need for
Logitech to simplify the Squeezebox (although I,personally, appreciate
the more complex but more functional Squeezebox over the UE). But now
that Logitech has indicated that they will make the UE able to transform
to a SB, it seems to me that they want to satisfy all customers. That's
what I read into itnot that they're phasing out their hardware,
which seems very speculative at best. I guess I have a more positive
opinion ; maybe I'm very naievemaybe I have some "wishful thinking";
I just don't see evidence that Logitech will not stand by their loyal
customers nor honor their commitment to their customers. Integrity still
means something. Maybe I am very very naieve, but I have faith in
Logitech's professionalism and their integrity. I've seen nothing at
this point to negate this.

Who knows?

Yes, I understand that the radio can be connected to the stereo via the

would be interested in audiophile SQ. does that type if connection

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Turn Touch off and avoid stand by(sleep)?

2012-12-13 Thread Ikabob

Ok, I understand. Here's the situation. I now have the Benchmark
DAC(which is very nice... Thank you garym). The dac can go into standby
mode if it does not receive a signal after 15 seconds or so. But, it's
not going to sleep as its supposed to and I thought that it might be
because the Touch is not fully "off" and a signal is still affecting the
DAC and therefore not allowing the DAC to go into standby mode. ( I
think this may be one of my "dumbest" postssorry).

On another note the BM DAC really does improve the sounds. I'm VERY
happy with it. Thank you!

If, and I emphasize IF, I would ever lose any part of that
ecosystem(Touch equivalent,Synchronization, Boombox equivalent, etc.),
I would have no other choice to choose another manufacturer and provider
(SONOS). I do not want to do that because the music quality, costomer
service and functionality provided by LOGITECH has been awesome (IMHO)!

I just know that LOGITECH will not let me or others down. I believe in

Regarding me "trusting LOGITECH", yes, I am giving them the benefit of
the doubt and I am hoping that they don't let its loyal customers down.
I guess the consumer will learn just what are LOGITECH'S "true colors".

LOGITECH'S stock seems to be maintaining itself and perhaps may even
have a sight increase. Any successful company respects the people who
respect them and does NOT take its customers for granted. If a company
"throws loyal customers under the bus" they begin to develope a
REPUTATION and will slowly lose CREDIBILITY which ultimately will lead
to failure. I just DO NOT think LOGITECH is made this way. I guess time
will tell and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. They
have provided me with a music ecosystem that I truly LOVE and so do so
many at this forum. Ethically, I do not think they would take this away
from us. Ethics is what successful businesses are made of and LOGITECH
surely wants to follow that path. Let's see.

IMHO, if they don't have a Touch equivalent plus synchronization among
devices then they would never be a competitor in the music system market
(SONOS).

I,personally, am not interested in a "walk-around-take-to-the-beach"
audio device (UE Boom).
I'm interested in a complete music SYSTEM such as the SB ecosystem that
I enjoy so much nowTouch,Radios,Booms all in harmony. At this time
the UE system does NOT provide this. I still have faith in LOGITECH
though and I do not think they would "throw past loyal supporters like
myself under the bus".

LOGITECH seems to be a respectable ethical company and ,I believe, they
will be loyal to their consumers as their supporters are to them. So ,
before I explore other options for my music system, I will be patient
and have faith that LOGITECH'S standards and their integrity are what I
think it is.

Thank you both for your replies. I'm not sure where I'll go with this,

which is not the $600 that Garym suggested as a preferred price. The
Rega DAC is one that rgro likes according to many posts I've read. The
price is a bit more that I'd like to spend but if it is truly
exceptional perhaps I could be persuaded. It's not offered at Amazon and

AlecCat,
I am a little late in making a suggestion and it seems that you have
received a lot of great advice. I am not savy on much of the technical
information but I can suggest one very nice addition to your listening
enjoyment. You may have this already but, use an iPod/iPad/iPhone and
get Pippin's ipeng remote control application. It adds so much
convenience to the Squeezebox ecosystem.
And, congratulations on your first Squeeze Device! They are GREAT!

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] How can I easily transfer playlists to Tiny SBS?

2011-02-25 Thread Ikabob

Thank you Aubuti. The main reason I am shutting off the pc is that there
are times when I have a large playlist of radio stations and I choose
one specific station (usually WOR???or WGN???)and for some reason it
crashes the SBS on my pc. I then have to go all the way down to the
basement and reboot SBS. So far this does not happen on Tiny SBS. It's
like a radio station overloads one of the ports because when I check SBS
Control Panel, 2 of the ports are labeled "failed". I checked firewalls
and it checks out ok. So, that is why I may change to TinyI'd
rather not.

Rick, that is very good information that you have given to those who
might wish to improve the fidelity of their home audio system. I
definitely do believe that you actually have made some positive
improvements. I ,too, have recently exchanged some of my interconnects
to a higher quality and have thought there was some slight improvement.
In that my router and pc are far removed from the heart of my system, it
would not be possible to change to an ethernet-only connection. As for
Soundcheck's mods, I will have to locate that thread.

Thanks for sharing your information . I am glad that you are enjoying
such a nice system! ( I will check out the "Copland Conducts Copland"

A poll associated with this post was created, to vote and see the

Question: How Much do you use the touch screen?

- Never - IR, Android/I-device or Web Gui.

- Half the time I use the touch screen.
- More touch screen than anything else?

I never use the touch screen. I use ipeng exclusively. I couldn't enjoy
the Squeeze functions without ipeng. No one in my household even knows
that the Touch has an active touch screen . I keep that a secret. I
don't want to get it all smudged up. I love the Squeezes.

I would like to get a protective shield for the screen but I cannot
find the exact size and cutting one is not precise for me.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Playing sky fm premium on touch

2011-01-24 Thread Ikabob

I am not sure what the touch screen says... Sorry. But if you play a
Sky.fm station and go to "more information" and see if your bitrate is
256KPSes then you are getting the premium feed. I do not use the touch
screen so I do not know if it says "premium" or not. I use mainly ipeng
as a controller and there is a notation above the screen indicating
Sky.fm premium. All my feeds are 256kps.

One other thing, if you like Sky.fm their sister station is a jazz
station called JazzRadio.com. It has some great jazz stations in
192kps. It is a premium station for about $5 / mth. For me it's worth
it .

Hope you find out if you're getting the premium feed from Sky.fm.

I believe that since the Swueezeboxes are dedicated players forSky.fm,
it is not necessary to manually copy and paste stations. All that is
necessary is to register with Sky.fm, choose the 192kps selection. Then
install the Sky.fm app from the App Gallery at mysqueezebox.com by
entering your username and then configure. The Sky.fm premium stations
will then be yours. I believe that this is correct.

I am using my iPod touch right now. In addition to providing me with
ipeng remote control, (for which I purchased it), additionally, I have
access to the Internet, access to my email account, access to many free
applications(eg, Pro/college football scores and progress,AOL instant
message, the weather channel, etc, etc. Therefore, for me, the least
expensive 8 gb iPod was worth it. Being able to control and view my
Squeezebox settings anywhere I am located is a VERY valuable
convenience. Please think about buying and using ipeng before you
abandon that SqueezeTouch.
The Logitech Squeeze System is truly awesome.

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Touch - first impressions and questions

2010-04-30 Thread Ikabob

I think it is too bad that you feel that strongly about those couple
things. I , on the other hand, love the touch and the screen is
adequate for my use. The functionality is superior and the angle is not
a problem for me(the estblished angle keeps the center of rotation lower
and therefore affords less falling potential). By keeping the screen
smaller, you also can keep the cost lower too. I think there is a
setting for larger characters to the screen if visibility is a problem.
Some day they may produce a "Squeezepad" that is largerbut I am sure
it might also be more costly too. The functions ,to me, that are most
important are
fidelity,reception,stability,versitility,reliability,display
clarity,touch responsiveness,ability to synchronize,etc. For me,screen
size is not important nor is the angle. I can live with them. So, enjoy
the Squeezebox Touch and the beautiful music, talk radio, athletic
events, podcasts,USB compatibility, and all the assets it can bring. I
hope after you analyze everything you may publically be a little more
positive about your purchase and the relatively short time you had to
wait. I am sorry but, I think Logitech thought it out very nicely. IMHO

Re: [SlimDevices: Touch] Ipeng Help

2010-04-17 Thread Ikabob

I agree that ipeng is awesome and without ipeng I could not enjoy the
Sqeezes as I do. I have the least expensive Itouch with just 7gbites. I
bought it specifically for a remote for my Squeezes but it is nice to
have the other features and apps of the itouch A bonus for me. I
kind of wish I had purchased the t
itouch with G

Squishy, I feel your pain.

I received mine and it is awesome. I actually believe the sound quality
has been enhanced too. Now I have to play with the new features USB
drive, SB photo card etc.

What about the pre-orders in the US. Anyone know when they might be
going out? My order still says "in process". I would like to see that
change. Anyone?

At logitech.com it shows the Touch is "in stock"! ExcitingI hope
that they honor the preorders early-on. My order still is listed as "in
process". I am really looking forward to getting the touch soon!

Where did you see this expected release date? It sounds exciting! I
want the touch sooner rather than later.

Also would like my battery for the Radio.

I really do love the Squeeze system. It is so awesome. You know, I even
love the green boxes they come in. I can't get myself to throw them
awayin spite of my wife's requests/demands/complaints/....etc. :-)

I see some new experts on the forums. Some are Logitech reps. They are
coming here to help us get going. They had a maintenance session today.
Things really are starting to happen. I think you posters above who
think it might be coming soon, might be right. I am starting to get
very excited about the prospect of getting the Touch sooner rather than
later. Can I change my vote? I am glad to see Logitech reps stepping up
to the plate here.
