Yes. You can plug a USB hard drive into the Touch. Doing so will start up "Tiny SBS". (It even did so when I plugged in my cell phone to charge the other day...) That 'Tiny SBS' is mostly the same as 'real' SBS, major points missing: web UI and transcoding. It will gladly act as a server for other Squeezebox type devices (ie, SB2/3/Class/Receiver/Controller/Transporter/Boom/Radio and other Touches...) So, yes, you can turn off your PC and still have access to any music that is plugged into the Touch. You'd still need a computer at some point to rip or download new files (which you can drag to the Touch), or to make backups (you don't want to redo everything when your HD dies) but day to day operation doesn't need a PC. Again, yes, a Touch can act as a server for a Duet. -- snarlydwarf snarlydwarf's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1179 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72888 ___ Touch mailing list Touch@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/touch

The Touch has SqueezeBox Server, which is needed for any SqueezeBox to play your own music files. It also works as a NAS (network attached storage) device, which I guess is what you mean by "disk station"? So, yes, with the Touch you wouldn't need a separate computer (PC, Mac, NAS.. ) to run the SB Server on. And your USB stick should be perfectly fine. I don't think you even need to do a lot of installing software for any of this to work. The Touch is of course also a player that can be connected to any audio system, and the touch screen can be used to control other players as well, such as your SBR. This is all of course what I've read here on the forum. I don't have one myself, yet. Regarding the SB Receiver, it won't do anything else than receive a stream from the server and play it. -Skinny -- Skinny This sentence says less than a list of audio equipment.
