I run a Gutsy Gibbon 7.10 notebook with acpi-support 0.103 and a desktop
with Dapper Drake 6.06 with acpi-support 0.85 .

I checked my desktop's /etc/acpi/lid.sh and found the == typo in it,
too.

The notebook is a Xeron 8640. Its -like several other -8640-notebooks
derived from an oem product produced by Mitac.

[Bug 165048] 'save link as' loses filename

2007-11-25 Thread Pradeep Varadarajan
Public bug reported:

Go to this URL: http://exaile.org/wiki/index.php?title=Theme:Dexaile
Scroll down and right click on exaile.extheme and select 'Save link as'
(Screenshot 1)
Change to a different folder using the list on the left (Screenshot 2)
?The file name disappears!

This seems to happen with only specific(unrecognized?) extensions. For
example, files for which are extensions are .deb, .htm etc, the name is
retained.

[Bug 162539] Re: MythTV Frontend requires killall pulseaudio

2007-11-25 Thread Mario Limonciello
Anthony,

Applying it to the feisty packages is unlikely unfortunately. The SRU
process only allows for regressions to be fixed, not new features. It
can however, be backported from gutsy or hardy (preferably hardy after
the package levels out - there are some issues with that). I'd
recommend for now just upgrading to gutsy though.

[Bug 126843] Re: ATI Radeon 7200 + OpenGL Lockup with Gutsy Gibbon Tribe 2

2007-11-25 Thread Krallus
Tormod, I did not try the BusType option. Here was my Device section:

Section Device
Identifier ATI Technologies, Inc. Radeon R100 QD [Radeon 7200]
Driver ati
BusID PCI:1:0:0
EndSection

Doesn't PCI the BusID infer the bus type?

I'd like to go back and try this again if it will make a difference, but
I don't want to get rid of my Feisty installation if this isn't going to
work. Will I be able to try this with the Gutsy Live CD without
actually installing Gutsy?

sensor-detect will display and attach you any known or supported sensor. If

[Bug 165052] Gutsy x86_64: eth0 becomes eth1 after reboot

2007-11-25 Thread Hilton McGough
Public bug reported:

I installed a cli 2.6.22-14-xen based system from an
ubuntu-7.10-alternate-amd64.iso image.
Everything worked fine untill I rebooted the system afterwhich eth0 dissappears
and re-appears as eth1 with an incorrect mac-address (FE:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF)
This of course results in my static network configuration not functioning as
eth0 no longer exists.
No matter how many times I reboot the system eth0 remains eth1 and assumes the
mac-address (FE:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF)
Only after shutting down the system and removing the power for about 5-10
seconds does eth0 return with the correct mac-address.

I have tried 3 different kernels without any improvement
   2.6.22-14-xen (ubuntu)
   2.6.22-14-generic (ubuntu)
   2.6.23.8 (kernel.org - compiled using config from 2.6.22-14-generic)

My Gigabyte G33M-DS2R motherboard has an on-board Realtek RTL8111b (see
results of lspci below for more details)

By default, the kernel chooses the r8169 module for this device.
I tried using the r8168 as supplied by Realtek on their web site
(r8168-8.003.00.tar.bz2)
This also did not solve the problem.

I suspect that there might be an issue with udev.

On doing some research, the current CVS version doesn't have this issue.
However, I dislike doing things outside of the package manager (world of

[Bug 159677] Re: Multiple bugs and wishlists

2007-11-25 Thread Phil Bull
 * Evolution depending on spamassassin: see Bug 4472 for discussion
 * Wine depending on alsa-oss: Should probably form part of the
BetterIntegratedWine spec (https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BetterIntegratedWineSpec).
However, this appears to have stalled. Might be worth reporting a wishlist bug
against Wine.
 * Xsane depending on gocr: XSane suggests gocr, but doesn't have a hard
dependency. Also, Xsane is getting old and may soon be replaced by GNOME Scan
or Flegita. Needs further investigation, possibly worth a new bug.
 * Users ejecting CDs: This looks to be a new bug.
 * dpkg repair: There is a spec for this
(https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/automatic-dpkg), but it looks
neglected. Maybe worth a new wishlist bug against dpkg.
 * FreeDOS boot disk: This appears to be new. Is this a common requirement?
 * totem-gstreamer DVD support: see Bug 41335
 * Mouse extra button detection: This would seem to be a difficult task. It
might be worth asking one of the X guys about this, and then maybe to create a
new spec.
 * Encrypted DVD installer: see bug 157099
 * OpenDNS servers: I'm not sure what you mean by this. Could you elaborate a
little more, please?
 * iPod support in Rhythmbox: This is a job for upstream. What sort of problems
are there currently with Rhythmbox's iPod integration?
 * HD-DVD/Bluray support: See the wiki
(https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RestrictedFormats/BluRayAndHDDVD). I don't
think that we have the resources to implement HD-DVD/Bluray support for
gstreamer ourselves, unfortunately.
 * Wine integration: In what ways is Wine integration currently lacking? The
inclusion of the Wine Doors package would probably help. There are Ubuntu
packages, but the authors don't seem to have submitted them to REVU. It might
be worth poking them.
 * DAP sync feature in Rhythmbox: This would be best handled upstream. An
enhancement bug should be filed in GNOME Bugzilla.
 * Rhythmbox is strictly a music player. Perhaps a video podcast plugin for
Totem should be requested?
 * Totem/Rhythmbox fused: There are several other available applications which
are combined media players which could be sought as replacements. I agree that
it can be confusing having two media players installed sometimes. However,
GNOME seem pretty keen on having separate applications to keep everything
task-focused (RB is a 'manager', Totem is a 'viewer'), and RB/Totem are pretty
feature-rich on their own, so a replacement might not cut it. This would be a
good question for the gnome-usability list.

[Bug 24864] Affecting to reboot too.

2007-11-25 Thread Vladimir Durán
Hi, I will like to re-confirm this bug in 7.10.

My problem it's not just with suspend or hibernate, but also with
reboot. I can mount smbfs file system fine in FSTAB, but when I reboot,
it just behaves the same way as the first post says.

I have in FSTAB:

//192.168.1.6/Datos /media/D smbfs
guest,iocharset=utf8,codepage=cp850,dmask=777,fmask=777

It works fine if I don't reboot, but once rebooted it will not auto mount the
share (even if the remote recourse is available)

After the problem appears, it will complain if I try to mount it
manually:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo mount /media/F
Could not resolve mount point /media/

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ stat /media/F
stat: no se puede efectuar `stat' sobre `/media/F': Error de entrada/salida (IO
error)

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ ls /media/F
ls: /media/F: Error de entrada/salida (IO error)

(And its takes very long time to complete)

Samba connection still works fine if I do in Konqueror (by example):
smb://192.168.1.6/eMulePlus

The only solution I has, is to comment the mount lines in FSTAB, then
reboot, then uncomment the lines in FSTAB, do mount -a. Or other
option (what is what I'm currently using) is to use an script to mount
them with smbmnt.

 Procedurally, the following:

 # vi modules/iscsitarget-module/kernel/event.c
make the change to line 98

a specific subnet but for those who want to use the openvpn plugin to
protect their traffic when on a public wifi network this should work.

[Bug 164562] Re: Merge Eclipse 3.2.2-4 from debian

2007-11-25 Thread Flávio Martins
There is an entry Regenerated debian/control for Ubuntu. since debian/rules
can generate the correct debian/control for the distribution.
Do you think I should really try to express what changes are there?

You might be confused about a previous version that mistakenly inserted some
unnecessary deltas.
Someone mistakenly hard coded Ubuntu and firefox @ debian/rules.

[Bug 164945] Re: cups is broken after upgrade

2007-11-25 Thread miguelquiros
I do not know if it is exactly the same problem as yours. If I start up the
computer with the printer off, apparently cups automatically flags the printer
as not enabled. Even if I turn the printer on afterwards, the printer still
appears in the computer as stopped and any job sent keeps sleeping in the
queue. If I check the enable box, the printer start printing whatever is in
the queue. An user without lpadmin privileges cannot reenable the printer an
so, cannot print at all.
Before the last upgrade to Gusty, the printer was flag as not enabled and
should be manually enabled only when I forgot to turn it on before sending a
job. After the upgrade it is flagged as not enabled if it is off at computer
startup. This may be logically justified only if there were some sort of deamon
checking very frequently whether the printer has been turned on to re-enable it
automatically but it does not seem to be the case. I would rather prefer that
the printer is never automatically disabled. Does anyone know if this kind of
behaviour is configurable somehow?
I think this is some sort of new cups feature intended as an improvement but
which turns out to be a annoyance for many users.

fixing a Gnome bug in all other packages, instead of fixing it in
Gnome, but I'll have a look at it when I'm doing the next release
(which will probably come with the next upstream release, if no new
bugs are filed). Thanks for directing my attention to it!

Ciao,
Eike

[Bug 39559] Re: Cannot have two profiles (-P switch) opened simultaneously.

2007-11-25 Thread Glyphobet
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 31746 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/31746

I can confirm that I am also experiencing this bug. Firefox 2.0.0.8
under Ubuntu 7.04 behaved as follows. These two commands would open two
different instances of Firefox, using two different profiles:

firefox -P SomeProfile
firefox -P SomeOtherProfile

However, Firefox 2.0.0.8 under Ubuntu 7.10 behaves in the different,
confusing (broken?) way as described in this bug; The second command
above would only open a new Firefox window using the profile specified
by the first command.

I use multiple Firefox profiles every day, so I'm 100% sure that this
behavior changed in the upgrade between 7.04 and 7.10. It did not change
in a Firefox upgrade.

The -no-remote trick above works.

[Bug 165034] Re: [Gutsy] X11 suddenly became very slow [i915]

2007-11-25 Thread Hubert Figuiere
I don't have a gutsy live CD.

and it has worked fine with gutsy until a recent upgrade.

I did a sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg prior to fill that bug.

glxgears just crash X. So it is not a duplicate of bug 155985

[Bug 82891] Re: if there is an error while copying, then I cannot eject cdrom

2007-11-25 Thread manu
It is nice that you want to help triaging bugs but randomly closing bug
reports without even considering them is just pointless. Have you tried
to reproduce it? It is very easy. Find a CD with some errors (or just
scratch it a bit yourself). Then try to copy the CD into your hard
drive. This is surely a kernel issue that has existed in Linux since,
well, always. So, yes, this bug is still exists and this bug is still
valid. I don't have any hope that it will be solved soon, though.

[Bug 115616] Re: Device-mapper errors: dm-linear, lookup failed

2007-11-25 Thread Milan
It's explained at the beginning of the bug description. I updated it so
it is more explicit, but *please* always read carefully at least the
description if not the complete thread before asking for help. Thanks
for caring about that, though.

** Description changed:

- [This issue is fixed by removing evms]
+ [This issue is fixed by removing evms: just type sudo apt-get remove
+ evms in a console.]

In gutsy the new 2.6.22-4-generic kernel produces the following error
  message repreatedly:

  May 19 10:10:16 richard-desktop kernel: [ 227.338011] device-mapper: table:
254:1: linear: dm-linear: Device lookup failed
  May 19 10:10:16 richard-desktop kernel: [ 227.338017] device-mapper: ioctl:
error adding target to table

This causes the disk to thrash. Can be eliminated by killing the udevd daemon.
Does not occur with the 2.6.20-15 kernel.

[Bug 164402] Re: Please sync kdiff3 0.9.92-2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2007-11-25 Thread Daniel Holbach
It's not a GNOME bug. Ubuntu chose to use the GTK Icon Cache. For icons
in /usr/share/icons a cache is generated/updated in the postinst.
dh_iconcache used to do that, it's now dh_icons:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuPackagingChanges#head-
7a1029cb94855a96bf14f84ea79e9468febc7605

This package contains icons in /usr/share/icons/hicolor
