[Bug 312693] Re: [Needs AGPMode quirk] crash when using openGL 3d games
Hi there, I have tested your packages (the -ati as well as the -radeon), I installed them both together. I removed the AGPmode option from my xorg.conf and I observed no crashes when watching movies. But, however, I did see a lag in the videopart of the movies I watched. Every 8 seconds or so, a slight stutter in the video-part of the movie, like a few frames where missing at that point and totem-xine stayed on that moment until it found its next. Watching tv (tvtime) is all ok. So, it's not yet a total go from my side. [Bug 330652] [NEW] Laptop LCD brightness settings remain in BIOS
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: acpi-support Steps to reproduce: 1. Buy a Dell XPS M1330 laptop and install Ubuntu 8.10. 2. Plug it into AC, turn on machine and press F2 to enter BIOS. 3. In BIOS make sure AC brightness is configured to max value (8). 4. Boot into Ubuntu, and use Fn-DownArrow to decrease brightness. 5. Restart and enter the BIOS again. Check the value for AC brightness. Expected results: AC brightness is back at 8. Actual results: AC brightness is set at a lower level in BIOS. Although the actual behavior is maybe the desired behavior in some uses, it causes problems for dual-boot systems. Windows Vista appears to handle brightness differently: on this machine, the value set in the BIOS is interpreted as a maximum in Vista, and the brightness hot-keys control the brightness within that smaller range. (So if AC brightness is set to 3 in the BIOS, then the hot-keys in Vista will cause the actual brightness to vary only in the range 0-3.) ** Affects: acpi-support (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Laptop LCD brightness settings remain in BIOS https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/330652 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 330656] [NEW] manual package selection displays dpkg output
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: tasksel The new system for allowing manual package selection by way of aptitude has one major flaw: it displays dpkg output directly rather than hiding it behind a progress bar. This is not quite as trivial to fix as one might hope. aptitude is run from the cdebconf-newt-terminal plugin rather than as a direct child process of tasksel, and so it's kind of tricky to get progress information back out. My current idea is that we could do this by running 'aptitude --schedule-only' via the terminal plugin, and then running 'aptitude install' within debconf-apt-progress in the usual way so that we get a progress bar. Support for this all seems to be basically there, but we ought to remove the Download/Install/Remove Pkgs option from aptitude's UI when running in this mode; if people use this then it will still display dpkg output directly. ** Affects: aptitude (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist Assignee: Colin Watson (kamion) Status: Triaged ** Affects: tasksel (Ubuntu) Importance: Wishlist Assignee: Colin Watson (kamion) Status: Triaged ** Affects: aptitude (Ubuntu Jaunty) Importance: Wishlist Assignee: Colin Watson (kamion) Status: Triaged ** Affects: tasksel (Ubuntu Jaunty) Importance: Wishlist Assignee: Colin Watson (kamion) Status: Triaged ** Changed in: tasksel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Wishlist Status: New = Triaged ** Changed in: tasksel (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Colin Watson (kamion) ** Also affects: aptitude (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: aptitude (Ubuntu Jaunty) Importance: Undecided = Wishlist Assignee: (unassigned) = Colin Watson (kamion) Status: New = Triaged -- manual package selection displays dpkg output https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/330656 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time reporting this bug. At the moment I am unable to confirm this issue with sbackup 0.10.x due to the lack of a configured SAMBA share. Moreover, please note, that most development work takes place on the forked project NSsbackup. It would help a lot if one of you could test the usecase described above with NSsbackup - but I really don't know whether it works or not. So, please just give it a try and help making it better. You can use it as usual software including installing via package manager. Have a look at the project's site at https://launchpad.net/nssbackup and the at the FAQs: https://answers.edge.launchpad.net/nssbackup/+faqs. Thank you. I'm running (uname -a): Linux beowulf 2.6.27-12-generic #1 SMP Thu Feb 5 09:26:35 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux After the crash, I can see in Xorg.0.log.old the backtrace: 0: /usr/X11R6/bin/X(xf86SigHandler+0x79) [0x80c3009] 1: [0xb7f90400] 2: /usr/X11R6/bin/X(XkbWriteXKBGeometry+0x181) [0x81a9ed1] 3: /usr/X11R6/bin/X(XkbWriteXKBKeymapForNames+0x610) [0x81a9210] 4: /usr/X11R6/bin/X(XkbDDXLoadKeymapByNames+0x1d7) [0x81b41c7] 5: /usr/X11R6/bin/X(ProcXkbGetKbdByName+0x40e) [0x819041e] 6: /usr/X11R6/bin/X [0x8195668] 7: /usr/X11R6/bin/X(Dispatch+0x34f) [0x808c89f] 8: /usr/X11R6/bin/X(main+0x47d) [0x8071d1d] 9: /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6(__libc_start_main+0xe5) [0xb7b96685] 10: /usr/X11R6/bin/X [0x8071101] Saw signal 11. Server aborting. I'm attaching my .xsession_errors as well. Doing quick googles, I see at least a couple bugs that seem to deal with the same problem: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/297442 http://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20081 But I don't understand what the resolutions really mean as I'm not all that Linux savvy. All I really want to know is: is it fixed somewhere and where/how do I pick up the fix? Or do I have to wait for the next Ubuntu release? ** Attachment added: .xsession-errors http://launchpadlibrarian.net/22756752/.xsession-errors -- X crash in ProcXkbGetKbdByName() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/290252 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu.

Takže není potřeba, aby to někdo odsouhlasoval. Pokud si některými překlady nejsi jist, zaškrtni u nich Someone should review this translation, a příští překladatel třeba už bude vědět. ** Changed in: language-pack-cs (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- Nové návrhy na překlad v balíku Miro https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/330614 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 289560] Re: E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. E: _cache-open() failed, please report.
Thank you to all who contributed. I'd been experiencing the same problem. I hope phil got things fixed, but i want to note to anyone who copies and pastes the command sudo dpkg --configure -a that you need to have patience and wait a bit for things to happen. Get up, Walk around a bit or grab a cup of coffee, everything will be fixed. Patience... -- E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem.
