Re: [Bug 768978] Re: package dockmanager (not installed) failed to install/upgrade: trying to overwrite '/usr/share/dockmanager/data/skype_away.svg', which is also in package faenza-icon-theme 0.9-ubu

2011-06-05 Thread pazuzuthewise
You're right. Faenza should not install files under
/usr/share/dockmanager/data/

Look at the path of the error. This file is provided BY dockmanager.
The icon packages are the (broken) packages overwriting the file. The
fact they were installed first does not mitigate that fact. The bug is
 with the theme package(s).

You can, however, build compiz from source and try that.

Is this designed to build on natty or oneiric? I'm using oneiric.

[Bug 622218] Re: black screen with desktop-cd and ati grafik card

Hi,
I have a black screen with lucid-live-cd (10.04., 10.04.1 and 10.04.2) but i
don't know why.
Maverick-live-cd freezed after some minutes.
And natty-live-cd works with gnome (nomodeset) but doesn't work with unity --
broken menu and windows

(My English is bad. I hope you can understand me)

[Bug 778490] Re: Random logout after upgrading to Natty Narwhal 11.04

2011-06-05 Thread jr.swordfish

Apport Backtrace:
- Temporarily forced using: sudo service apport start force_start=1
- Simulated the condition for crash/logout
- Logged back but no notification from update-notifier
- Checked /var/crash/executable_path.uid.crash but no report found there
Looks like apport fails to report the crash.
Could it be a GPU lockup? https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/Freeze

Workaround: I reported a workaround that worked with my laptop. Since
then I have consistently verified the workaround. If the laptop is
powered on AC main there are no crash/logouts. Auto logouts only when
using battery power. Could power management linked to GPU lockup. Wild
guess: Some kind of wait/timeout issue?

[Bug 652124] Re: the system monitor applet is not allowing the environment variables that appmenu-gtk uses

2011-06-05 Thread saksmlz
Yes, it still opens window with menu attached to the window.
I have just logged into gnome from unity and this bug is still there.
I don't know exactly but it seems to be due to absence of environment variable
or something like this, because it opens with global menu from the gnome-menu.

[Bug 793212] [NEW] custom option missing for email in preferred applications

2011-06-05 Thread adempewolff
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

One used to be able to use a custom application (or run a custom script)
for email in the Preferred Applications gui (gnome-default-applications-
properties). For example see this tutorial: http://www.linux-
geek.co.nz/2011/06/04/set-gmail-as-default-mail-client-in-ubuntu/, or
bugs filed against this functionality, such as this one:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-
center/+bug/252253.

However, in 11.04 the custom item is no longer present in the drop-down
menu. The custom option is still present in the menus for the
applications in the other tabs (Multimedia, System, and Accessibility),
but it is not present in the two drop-down menus in the Internet tab.

The ability to choose custom default mail and web applications is vital
for those who use applications that are not automatically detected by
Ubuntu. Furthermore, for those who prefer to use a browser-based email
client such as Gmail or Outlook Web App, we need to be able to run a
custom script to launch a browser.

As I don't believe I've made any modifications to this part of the OS,
this bug should be reproducible by anyone using Natty Narwhale by going
to 'System Settings' in the power-menu, then clicking 'Preferred
Applications', and then clicking on either of the two drop-down menus in
the Internet tab. This GUI can also be accessed by pressing alt-F2,
then typing 'gnome-default-applications-properties', or searching for
'Preferred Applications' using Unity.

Non literal translation of the bug (as I see it):

Whenever you have two nautilus windows open and drag sth from one to the
other, the side bar appears (without calling or moving the mouse to the
left side of the screen). If you have one window aligned to the left
side of the screen, then the unity sidebar covers the places bar in the
nautilus window.

No, it's being done in exactly the same way, merely on a different schedule

You can see duplicates of this bug to observe packages affected by this issue.
Both packages (eiskaltdcpp and sciteproj) have no problem with builds in

Until this gets fixed in the official Lucid package you can get an
updated package from the PPA at lp:~phw/+junk/sound-juicer-lucid-libmb3

Please note that this is exactly the package as it currently is included
in Lucid, just build against libmb3, and nt a new upstream version. I
hope this prevents sound-juicer of being Long Term Screwed.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control-
center/+bug/793212 before I noticed this one. I'm not going to mark
mine as a duplicate for now because it has a little more background
information about the functionality that use to be present--and mine
doesn't concern the auto-detecting of kmail, just the missing custom
option.

I can root around a little to see if this is reported at all in the
forums and I'll confirm if I find anything. Otherwise I'll wait for
someone else to reproduce the problem and confirm (should be easy enough
to reproduce).

[Bug 568611] Re: Screen brightness control fails on Dell Studio 1558

2011-06-05 Thread Jean-Sébastien Gosselin
On a Laptop Dell Inspiron 14R with Ubuntu 11.04 64bit, blacklight
control is working as intended with the patched kamal mostafa kernel.
Thank you very much.

I had similar issue though with the screen lock when returning from
suspension or from screen saver; my screen was randomly freezing, but I
was able to move the mouse around. I had to Ctrl-Alt F2 and sudo pkill
X in order to have it back.

I deactivated in CompizConfig Settings ManagerGeneralOpenGLSync To
VBlank and the issue seems to be resolved.

[Bug 793217] [NEW] unity mouse pad three-finger paste stopped working

2011-06-05 Thread indium
Public bug reported:

In unity on 11.04 on a Macbook pro 6,2 the touchpad used to have two-finger
scroll and three-finger taps for pasting text (in a terminal or elsewhere). The
3-finger taps don't work anymore. A workaround is exchanging buttons using
synclient:
'synclient TapButton2=2 ; synclient TapButton3=3', but this disables other
features (like zooming in gnuplot x11 windows).

I don't know to which package/process this issue is related, since
synclient works, so somewhere a configuration has been changed.

[Bug 460743] Re: [LucidKarmic] Cambridge Silicon Radio, Bluetooth Dongles do not work

2011-06-05 Thread Gustavo Spadari
Today I bought a new dongle. It's ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd
Bluetooth Dongle (HCI mode) too, but it works well. I've no tx timeout errors
and all the packages are from de offical repos.
It's a dongle made in China too, it's mini as the other one, but the format
is different. This ends in an arc, the one that doesn't work is square. The one
who works is SABRENT - connecting the future just in case someone wants to
know. I don't know the company name of the other.
I could connect the A2DP headset without any problems using
bluetooth-properties

If someone would like to know any other difference the dongles have,
please let me know.

I don't prefer Linux because it's cheaper than MacOS, but because it is
open in many ways: its source as well as its system state! It makes me
sad to see that Ubuntu recently favors a questionable information
hiding. A real challenge would be to show system details, without
complicating the simple use-cases. Please Canonical, take this into
account!

[Bug 582809] Re: Synaptics Clickpad touchpad buttons are not working

Sorry for the duplicated comment.
With the LED set to 1 initially when I start the computer the LED is on and the
touchpad is working.
But we also need to set TouchpadOff = 0, because when I start the computer
TouchpadOff is set to 1.

So, to sum up, in my opnion, the initial state is:

TouchpadOff = 0

[Bug 533279] Re: Remove need for .lernid configuration files

2011-06-05 Thread Jono Bacon
I think the best approach would be to ship a series of .lernid files
that outline how to get connected to an event but then the event name is
in the ical description.

So as an example, we could ship this .lernid file:

[Ubuntu Classroom]
icalurl: http://url.to/classroom.ical
homepage: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuClassroom
classroom: ubuntu-classroom
chat: ubuntu-classroom-chat

but then for each event in the description there would be:

[EVENT: Ubuntu Open Week]
[SLIDES: http://jonobacon.org/files/presentation.pdf]

When Lernid starts it would present the different classrooms to connect
to (read from the .lernid files), the user selects a classroom, and then
Lernid processes all of the events and groups together events with the
same Event name.

This approach would rely on classroom sessions having the exact same
event name, but I think this is reasonable, and it would allow Lernid to
not need to be patched. This solution does not include start and end
dates for the events, but I am not sure if that is such a big deal.

[Bug 582809] Re: Synaptics Clickpad touchpad buttons are not working

2011-06-05 Thread Airam RR
So, to achieve that behaviour, led_double_tap initially must be 0

pars-led_double_tap = xf86SetBoolOption(opts, LEDDoubleTap, FALSE);

because when the touchpad is doubled tapped the value of touchpad_off
changes:

if (priv-led_tapped) {
/* double-tapped? */
diff = TIME_DIFF(priv-led_tap_millis + 400, hw-millis);
if (diff = 0) {
para-touchpad_off = !para-touchpad_off;

I propose the next changes in synaptics.c, in the function static void
set_default_parameters(InputInfoPtr pInfo)

pars-led_status = xf86SetBoolOption(opts, LEDStatus, TRUE);
pars-led_double_tap = xf86SetBoolOption(opts, LEDDoubleTap, FALSE);

[Bug 793224] [NEW] Translation error in Firefox 4 bookmark manager

2011-06-05 Thread stephane
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

I am french and using the French version of ubuntu and for Firefox 4 I
think it would be better if in the menu bookmark the sub-menu Afficher
tous les marque-pages would be written instead Gerer les marque-pages
ou bibliothèque des marque-pages ou même Organiser les marque-
pages... .

In fact when looking to the official french help from Mozilla this sub menu is
called Organiser les marque-pages... .
So I do not understand why the translation under Ubuntu 11.04 is different and
very confusing.

Thank you very much for your attention

[Bug 582809] Re: Synaptics Clickpad touchpad buttons are not working

2011-06-05 Thread Mohegan
@Airam RR

I don't angry with you. In fact, the options mean :
- LEDDoubleTap=1
If you want deactivate the touchpad with the double tap.

- LEDDoubleTap=0
If you don't want deactivate the touchpad with the double tap.

- LEDStatus=1
If the led is switch on.

- LEDStatus=0
If the led is switch off.

- TouchpadOff=1
If the touchpad is deactived.

- TouchpadOff=0
If the touchpad is activated.

So, the default parameters is :
- led_status is false (=0),
- led_double_tap is true (=1),
- touchpad_off is false (=0).

You can switch on the led without deactivate the touchpad (with the
command 'synclient LEDStatus=1').

The double tap is used to activate / deactivate the touchpad (same
function as windows 7).

[Bug 793231] [NEW] Can't restore from symlinks

2011-06-05 Thread Kieran Hogg
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: deja-dup

I have some folders in my home folder symlinked to a mounted partition,
one example:

lrwxrwxrwx 1 kieran kieran30 2010-10-10 17:17 Documents -
/home/kieran/Dropbox/Documents
lrwxrwxrwx 1 kieran kieran24 2010-06-08 19:03 Dropbox -
/media/Shared/My Dropbox

I have added Documents explicitly to the include list to backup. Backing
up works fine (deja-dup follows it and backs up from its full path), but
if I restore from within /home/kieran/Documents it says the file is not
in the backups, if I restore from the /media path, it asks for my
password then fails as per bug #568559.

[Bug 754948] Re: Desktop Wall Viewport Switcher: Bindings for Next and Prev workspaces dont work. Bindings that use screen edges don't work.

2011-06-05 Thread BryanFRitt
The desktop Wall's 'Move Prev' and 'Move Next' not working is a
separate bug from Bindings that use screen edges and mouse click's
don't work.

Even with a version of Compiz that don't have the edge button bindings problem*,
If the current viewport is a leftmost or a rightmost viewport the shortcuts for
'Move Prev' and 'Move Next' don't do anything. ('Move Left' and 'Move Right'
ones still work, but not the 'Move Prev' and 'Move Next' ones)

By 'Move Prev' and 'Move Next' don't work on leftmost or rightmost viewport, I
mean something like this:
Say there's 16 viewports, in 4x4 form:
01 02 03 04
05 06 07 08
09 10 11 12
13 14 15 16
Then the bindings for 'move prev' and 'move next' don't do anything when the
current viewport is:
01 04
05 08
09 12
13 16
and it will work when the current viewport is:
   02 03
   06 07
   10 11
   14 15
Again this is only with a version of Compiz that doesn't have the edge button
problem*
*Tested with Compiz 0.9.2.1

Can you confirm that both are the same?

Do not have that apt-cache policy packagename the question #2.

Was expecting to auto login and the keyring login as well without

Instead, it is now prompting me again for he keyring password.
