Apport Backtrace: - Temporarily forced using: sudo service apport start force_start=1 - Simulated the condition for crash/logout - Logged back but no notification from update-notifier - Checked /var/crash/executable_path.uid.crash but no report found there Looks like apport fails to report the crash. Could it be a GPU lockup? https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/Freeze Workaround: I reported a workaround that worked with my laptop. Since then I have consistently verified the workaround. If the laptop is powered on AC main there are no crash/logouts. Auto logouts only when using battery power. Could power management linked to GPU lockup. Wild guess: Some kind of wait/timeout issue? [Bug 793212] [NEW] custom option missing for email in preferred applications
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gnome-control-center One used to be able to use a custom application (or run a custom script) for email in the Preferred Applications gui (gnome-default-applications- properties). For example see this tutorial: http://www.linux- geek.co.nz/2011/06/04/set-gmail-as-default-mail-client-in-ubuntu/, or bugs filed against this functionality, such as this one: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-control- center/+bug/252253. However, in 11.04 the custom item is no longer present in the drop-down menu. The custom option is still present in the menus for the applications in the other tabs (Multimedia, System, and Accessibility), but it is not present in the two drop-down menus in the Internet tab. The ability to choose custom default mail and web applications is vital for those who use applications that are not automatically detected by Ubuntu. Furthermore, for those who prefer to use a browser-based email client such as Gmail or Outlook Web App, we need to be able to run a custom script to launch a browser. As I don't believe I've made any modifications to this part of the OS, this bug should be reproducible by anyone using Natty Narwhale by going to 'System Settings' in the power-menu, then clicking 'Preferred Applications', and then clicking on either of the two drop-down menus in the Internet tab. [Bug 533279] Re: Remove need for .lernid configuration files
I think the best approach would be to ship a series of .lernid files that outline how to get connected to an event but then the event name is in the ical description. So as an example, we could ship this .lernid file: [Ubuntu Classroom] icalurl: http://url.to/classroom.ical homepage: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuClassroom classroom: ubuntu-classroom chat: ubuntu-classroom-chat but then for each event in the description there would be: [EVENT: Ubuntu Open Week] [SLIDES: http://jonobacon.org/files/presentation.pdf] When Lernid starts it would present the different classrooms to connect to (read from the .lernid files), the user selects a classroom, and then Lernid processes all of the events and groups together events with the same Event name. This approach would rely on classroom sessions having the exact same event name, but I think this is reasonable, and it would allow Lernid to not need to be patched. This solution does not include start and end dates for the events, but I am not sure if that is such a big deal. ** Changed in: lernid Importance: Undecided = Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/533279 Title: Remove need for .lernid configuration files -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 582809] Re: Synaptics Clickpad touchpad buttons are not working
@Airam RR I don't angry with you. In fact, the options mean : - LEDDoubleTap=1 If you want deactivate the touchpad with the double tap. - LEDDoubleTap=0 If you don't want deactivate the touchpad with the double tap. - LEDStatus=1 If the led is switch on. - LEDStatus=0 If the led is switch off. - TouchpadOff=1 If the touchpad is deactived. - TouchpadOff=0 If the touchpad is activated. So, the default parameters is : - led_status is false (=0), - led_double_tap is true (=1), - touchpad_off is false (=0). You can switch on the led without deactivate the touchpad (with the command 'synclient LEDStatus=1'). The double tap is used to activate / deactivate the touchpad (same function as windows 7). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/582809 Title: Synaptics Clickpad touchpad buttons are not working -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 793231] [NEW] Can't restore from symlinks
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: deja-dup I have some folders in my home folder symlinked to a mounted partition, one example: lrwxrwxrwx 1 kieran kieran30 2010-10-10 17:17 Documents - /home/kieran/Dropbox/Documents lrwxrwxrwx 1 kieran kieran24 2010-06-08 19:03 Dropbox - /media/Shared/My Dropbox I have added Documents explicitly to the include list to backup. [Bug 754948] Re: Desktop Wall Viewport Switcher: Bindings for Next and Prev workspaces dont work. Bindings that use screen edges don't work.
The desktop Wall's 'Move Prev' and 'Move Next' not working is a separate bug from Bindings that use screen edges and mouse click's don't work. Even with a version of Compiz that don't have the edge button bindings problem*, If the current viewport is a leftmost or a rightmost viewport the shortcuts for 'Move Prev' and 'Move Next' don't do anything. ('Move Left' and 'Move Right' ones still work, but not the 'Move Prev' and 'Move Next' ones) By 'Move Prev' and 'Move Next' don't work on leftmost or rightmost viewport, I mean something like this: Say there's 16 viewports, in 4x4 form: 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 Then the bindings for 'move prev' and 'move next' don't do anything when the current viewport is: 01 04 05 08 09 12 13 16 and it will work when the current viewport is: 02 03 06 07 10 11 14 15 Again this is only with a version of Compiz that doesn't have the edge button problem* *Tested with Compiz 0.9.2.1 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/754948 Title: Desktop Wall Viewport Switcher: Bindings for Next and Prev workspaces dont work.
