[Bug 1574963] Re: juju2 lxd launch hostname reverse lookup inconsistent

I hit this when writing some scripts to provision the Xenial cloud image

[Bug 1580659] Re: bcmwl-kernel-source (not installed): bcmwl kernel module failed to build [wlc_hybrid.o_shipped_x86_64: No such file or directory]

2016-05-23 Thread Levan Chelidze
@Zach (zach-bimson)

Well this is how it happened and how i resolved the issue.
Before installing i started 16.04 live usb, the wifi was not working so in live
usb i enabled proprietary wifi drivers from "additional drivers" the wifi had
no problem from there on out, so i decided to continue with the installation of
ubuntu, I selected the options i wanted and pressed to download updates while
installing.

After it installed the ubuntu and booted in ubuntu i could not install
wifi proprietary drivers even though i have managed to do so just fine
on live usb. So at the end of the day i had to plug lan cable in the
laptop and run -f install it downloaded software and after that the wifi
started to function.

[Bug 1579905] Re: cups-browsed causes shutdown hang/delay in Ubuntu 16.04

2016-05-23 Thread Till Kamppeter
Fix is to assure via systemd that cups-browsed is never running without
CUPS running, especially to let cups-browsed always shut down before
CUPS.

This can be reached by adding the line

Requires=cups.service

to the [Unit] section of

/lib/systemd/system/cups-browsed.service

and then to run

sudo systemctl daemon-reload

to make the change already working in the current session.

Please test.

** Package changed: cups (Ubuntu) => cups-filters (Ubuntu)

@Richard Baka,

Yes there will be an official fix for this. We are now in the process
of performing a kernel bisect to identify the commit that introduced
this regression. Once we know the commit, we can decide the next steps
to fix the bug.

I built the next test kernel, up to the following commit:
8d7804a2f03dbd34940fcb426450c730adf29dae

The test kernel can be downloaded from:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~jsalisbury/lp1575467

Can you test that kernel and report back if it has the bug or not? I
will build the next test kernel based on your test results.

Thanks in advance

[Bug 1584907] [NEW] Size set in Window{} is not respected in desktop mode

If I set width and height in Window component and run the app on tablet in

I set width and height to be units.gu 70x70 but the result is 60x47. See the

result is correct (70x70).

Code I used:

Well then it seems the 'fix' has value. Only asking because in the 5+
months that this issue has occurred it has gone away after a few weeks
in all cases I've known (25+ users).
For myself the same in both my machines, ie. went away, & which no
longer get the bug in fresh release installs either.

Another Workaround: Don't use systemd for saned. I removed

/lib/systemd/system/saned.service
/lib/systemd/system/saned.socket
/lib/systemd/system/saned@.service,

as well as the "new" files I added in

/etc/systemd/system/saned.socket
/etc/systemd/system/saned@.service,

configured saned as usual, and it works as it did in 14.04.

[Bug 1584904] [NEW] HTPC loses internet connectivity after starting Kodi with Zeroconf enabled

2016-05-23 Thread Dennis Mungai Lin.Jr.
Public bug reported:

Currently running the current version of Kodi on Ubuntu 16.04LTS on a
HTPC connected to the internet over WiFi,and I've noticed a trend:

When I launch Kodi, the host system shortly loses it's internet
connectivity shortly thereafter.

I cannot reproduce the same issue when I build Kodi from source or
install it from the package manager on Ubuntu 14.04 and earlier.

The same issue also doesn't occur on Windows.

At the moment, it seems to be related to Zeroconf. When it's set to
disabled (in the settings UI in Kodi), I cannot reproduce the issue.

Would that qualify as a bug?

[Bug 1576380] Re: Picking a file via content hub breaks OSK input in browser

2016-05-23 Thread Olivier Tilloy
It turns out I can reliably reproduce the issue on the latest OTA image (10.1),
but not on rc-proposed (flashed again). So the issue is fixed, and the next OTA
update (11) will get you the fix.
I’m not sure where the issue was. content-hub doesn’t seem to have changed
since OTA 10.1, I’m not seeing anything relevant in the changelog for the
browser, it might be something in oxide (the web engine), or ubuntu-keyboard
(the OSK), or maybe even unity8/mir.

[Bug 1258422]

2016-05-23 Thread D-aaron-9
Ok, here's what just happened, which appears to be a bug with the bug
tracking system here. I hit post on the first one, realized my left /
right mistake, hit the "stop" button on my browser, edited, re-posted. I
was sent to the "mid-air collision detected" screen where there was an
option called something like "post only my new post" and that sounded
right. Seems it didn't work.

I'm no longer seeing this issue. It may have been something ephemeral
or solved by a system reboot.

This bug report can be marked accordingly unless anyone else is still
experiencing this issue.

Thank you for your time looking into this!

[Bug 1580146] Re: [touch] Internet connection stops working while WiFi is still connected

2016-05-23 Thread Tony Espy
@Andrea

Can you try adding the following setting to the NetworkManager
connection file for "Canonical-2.4GHz-g" in /etc/NetworkManager/system-
connections:

[ipv6]
method=ignore

"[ipv6]" should already be there, so just add "method=ignore", and
remove any other settings under "ipv6".

Restart the device once you've updated the connection file.

[Bug 1242649] Re: shp2pgsql-gui should be in a separate package

2016-05-23 Thread Mike A. Owens
> If you're afraid of X libraries on your headless server, [...]

As it stands, to get boring geometric functions into the PostgreSQL
server, you must also get: two Postscript/PDF interpreters, a multicast
DNS client library, ffmpeg AND libxine, a jpeg decoder, the PulseAudio
client library, the MySQL client libraries, a font rasterizer (with
fonts), an MP3 AND Ogg Vorbis encoder, the xlib and XCB client
libraries, and two full widget toolkits (libqtgui4 and libgtk+).

It's 594MB of dependencies: almost the size of the Ubuntu Server ISO
image. It's not like it just brings in a vestigial copy of xlib.
That's a lot of new security surface area for a server. I've attached
the full resolved dependency list on a clean install of Ubuntu Server
16.04 (sans postgresql-9.5).

> [...] you should not install the postgis package for its utilities.

Typically, people are installing the postgis package for the PostgreSQL
server extension, not for the included its GUI shape loader utility.
The source tarball will happily build the extension without building
shp2pgsql-gui for this reason.

[Bug 1584885] [NEW] Unity (14.04) does not restore modal dialogs correctly after initiating desktop view

2016-05-23 Thread Cs-gon
Public bug reported:

Unity on 14.04 does not restore modal dialogs correctly after switching
to desktop view (Ctrl+Super+D), when the user tries to restore a single
application and therefore clicks on the application icon, while in
desktop view mode. Then only the main window is restored, which (of
course) does not react to any mouse or keyboard events, and (at least)
confuses users.

However, if _NET_WM_STATE_SKIP_TASKBAR is not set on the modal dialog,
then a second click on the application icon does restore the modal
dialog, but if the dialog has _NET_WM_STATE_SKIP_TASKBAR set, it becomes
impossible to restore the modal dialog (it is neither shown in spread
view, nor in the context menu of the application icon or when using the
application switcher using Alt-Tab). The modal dialog also does not get
restored if the user presses Ctrl+Super+D to exit the desktop view, and
the dialog has _NET_WM_STATE_SKIP_TASKBAR set.

So the user has no "normal" method interact or even to close the
application, which then needs to be killed (if the user even knows how
to do that), or the user has to log out, with both scenarios possibly
leading to loss of unsaved data.

Even worse, some applications (i.e. LibreOffice) don't close when a
modal dialog is opened and the user tries to log out, so the session
does not close and often the only option for a user is to power off the
system hard.

Example for an application with modal dialog with _NET_WM_STATE_SKIP_TASKBAR
not set: nautilus and the about dialog

Example for an application with modal dialog with
_NET_WM_STATE_SKIP_TASKBAR set: Java Control Panel (ControlPanel binary)
and the about dialog (button on the first tab)

[Bug 1584546] Re: firefox 46 crashed with SIGSEGV, PPC

2016-05-23 Thread Kurt
I have experienced this behavior on two separate PPC G4 (32bit)
machines, both running Ubuntu Mate 16.04 (Linux 4.4.0-22-powerpc-smp
ppc). FF version 45.0.2+build1-0ubuntu1 worked, then after update to
version 46.0.1+build1-0ubuntu0.16.04.2, FF crashes on startup as noted
in previous posts.

[Bug 1576380] Re: Picking a file via content hub breaks OSK input in browser

2016-05-23 Thread Olivier Tilloy
Thanks for the video Bob. I’m still unable to reproduce the issue on my
M10, despite following exactly the same steps as you. My device is
running the rc-proposed channel, I’m now in the process of re-flashing
it with the latest RTM image to see if that makes a difference. Will
keep this bug updated.
